is this the best NAS whisky out there right now? is there a better one? tell me what it is? Is Campbeltown ruling the whisky world once again?...fill your boots in the comments folks....
Teapot dram 008???
if i can only pick one n the price s immaterial
VICTORIANA OR 12 SEASONAL ?
@@sehrajsinghvirk5273 oh great question.... I would go for th 12 as you will be able to pick up the victoriana later...
Thoroughly enjoyed the Victoriana. Another great NAS whisky is the Isle of Arran Quarter Cask 👌🏻
Love the Victoriana! Complex yet approachable for me with an array of delicious notes. Cheers Alan, keep up your great work, brother 🥃🙌
Thanks, will do!
love this bottle... glad I bought bundle of GS15 + GSV for 85£ on black friday
I have the same bottling as you. Its bloody lovely stuff, incredibly complex, a lot going on. .... and yes, it just keeps changing the longer you leave it in the glass. I cant articulate the nose & palate like you but I felt myself nodding & agreeing with all of it. Yes, definitely one of my favorites. Worth every penny ( & sadly, hell of a lot more pennies in Australia).
One of the best whisky reviews - my mouth was watering listening to you the first time I watched it - so i bought one and it arrived this afternoon and tonight it will be opened. Can't wait. New subscriber here and loving the channel. Cheers!
Well thanks for the sub Martin and I have no doubt you will love that Victoriana.... Cheers my friend where are you from fella?
@@thewhiskyfriend I'm in NE London - hate to admit I'm on my 3rd bottle of this already - its absolutely superb - if it had an age statement it would be 50% more expensive. Trying to build up a stash, but keep reaching for it!
Great to hear you - Alan 👍🥃. Thank you for this great Campbeltown monster
your very welcome Tolga....Glad you enjoyed it...
Wow, I literally just bought this bottle yesterday. It was the only, and last, one I've seen on any shelf in my area. Glad I was able to pick it up.
let me know what you think buddy....cheers Alan
Great review Alan. Ill be looking out for the Victoriana for sure.
cheers its a must Andrew....awesome whisky....
I’ve only recently tried Glen Scotia 15, however after my first glass I ran out and grabbed the Victoriana and Double Cask...fantastic stuff. With supplies of Springbank drying up, I can see why more and more people are gravitating toward Glen Scotia. Keep it up Alan!
Most improved distillery for me... Glen Scotia... Campbeltown still ruling the whisky world my friend
.. Cheers Alan
Sounds like a good one! Cheers Alan!
Cheers Alan! Killer review!
Top dram buddy... Its going to make another appearance very soon my friend...
Remarkable blending work in this expression, was totally in love from the first sip and usually spend several minutes nosing it, I have a couple of bottles and planning to go for a third one before opening the second, just in case... hahaha.... Cheers Alan!
fantastic Fer Nando...stock up that stash my friend...cheers Alan
Hi Alan. Thank you so much for this wonderful review again! After having the double cask for one and a half years, I ran into this one last Summer and it is really one of my top whiskies from my collection. Just as Alan mentioned, I would recommend to buy it without hesitation if you can get your hands in it! Cheers 🥃😋
Great to hear!
I am really impressed by this review so thanks 🙏 Alan. I have been searching for some and will definitely give it a try. Ciao 👋 amico mio. S.
you have to find it amigo....its awesome....
I agree Victoriana is a wonderful whisky! I've got a bottle in reserve when my opened one gives out.
It's a belter fella... £55 what a bargain... Cheers for dropping bye Scott...
Amazing review, amazing bottle. Really do enjoy this one as well. Sadly I only have 1 bottle as well, and need to try and find another.
its an awesome NAS whisky fella...just awesome
I agree on that Victoriana is a fantastic NAS. The once that can stand up are, Cotswolds Founders Reserve, Highland Park Cask Strength, Douglas Laing the Gauldrons, Ardbeg Uigeadail, Kilkerran Heavily Peated….
Hi Alan, you actually got my mouth watering with your tasting notes 🥃👍😀. Really enjoyed this video, thanks Alan, slàinte mhath.
have you tried it David?
@@thewhiskyfriend Hi Alan, no Unfortunately not, it’s not available in shops here. Anyway, had a bit of a spend up and got the Arran 10, springbank 10 (earlier label) ,lagavulan 8 and Glen Scotia 18. Maybe Ill see the Victorina one day. Thanks for the feedback Alan, slàinte mhath.
Amazing bottle. An absolutely no-brainer for the price - near me in the eastern US is $89.99. Buuuut, with the GS15 at 59.99, I’d buy that first. Really I buy both anytime I can find them (less and less these days). Love your videos!
keep stocking up that stash Chris and thanks for your kind words my friend.....
Only tried the 51.5% version (which ralfy had) so I'm keen to eventually get around to the 54.2% as well. Great review!
the sooner the better my friend....
I watched the Whiskey for Dummies review and knew I had to pick one up, so I found 2 available that could ship to me in Canada. Just before I went to buy one, I came here since I really trust you for your Cambeltown reviews, as it is also my favourite region for scotch, and with your statement of wishing you bought 2 bottles, I bought both! One will be to share with my whiskey buddy since we always open our bottles together, and the other is going to my whiskey vault and won't be opened for years probably. As always great reviews! Wish I could try some of those special edition Kilkerrans you got behind you, always drooling over those during your videos! Cheers from Canada.
I don't think that second bottle will stay closed for as long as you think my friend... Enjoy... Thanks for dropping bye my friend and as always The Pleasure is in the Sharing... Cheers
@@thewhiskyfriend That's what I am worried about, that I am going to like it too much. Cheers
Nice whiskey review Alan 😎
Cheers my friend its much appreciated....
I just picked this up and can't figure it out. Doesn't matter as it's so good and thanks to you I bought it.
Glad to be of service fella.. Don't rush it... Its always changing and challenging... But so damn good... You will figure it out... Does not matter if you don't... Just enjoy it and buy another... Cheers
I absolutely love Victoriana. Dirty funk, chocolatey, woody, spicy... so delicious. Is this a new proof this year?
Cheers Ala
Superb whisky, wish I had seen it on the £55 deal
its a belter buddy...soooo good...
One of the better online drinks retailer in Bulgaria had this on special sale for Black Friday at roughly 47 GBP so I bought two bottles. The offer was up until 25th of December but it is already sold out. Campbeltown malts are hard to get in Bulgaria and whenever they appear the price is isualy quite steep, so it was no brainer for me. I've had a bottle of the 15 yo and absolutely love it so I made it last over an year and a half after opening. Killed it several months ago so these two bottles of Victoriana are more than welcome in my stash😀
Cheers!
get that 15 replaced my friend.....
@@thewhiskyfriend Easier said than done 😀 As I said Campbeltown malts are not readily available around here.
It's not exactly cheap, but it very well might be the best whisky being bottled at this moment in time. My 2021 Whisky of the Year!
its up there as one of the best for me too Christopher....cheers buddy
Alan great review I have never bought this bottle but have tried a sample, will buy one this week. Is the Glengoyne teapot dram a better NAS
It's as good Neil but twice the price but if your not a sherry head the victoriana is a no brainer fella... I'm loving it... You know batch 8 teapot is out next week fella....
Right, Alan. I've bought myself a bottle. Of this and of the Seasonal. Can't be ignoring those scores!
You won't be disappointed fella... Let me know how you get on with them fella....
@@thewhiskyfriend Well, Alan. What can I say? Firstly, I wanted to give myself a bit of time with these GS before letting you know how I got on. I am well down both bottles already, which says a lot! I like the Seasonal, it has a lot of dried fruit going on which is great for this time of year. The Victoriana is the superior whisky though, and is absolutely superb. It has that sweet and savoury thing going on, with just great balance and complexity. Going to have to buy myself a second bottle. Probably the best whisky I've had this year, and there's been some good ones! No arguing with Campbeltown at the moment! Hitmakers!!
@@Starkalicious07 fantastic John so glad your enjoying them fella.... Awesome whisky... Take care fella and thanks for dropping bye....
Now you know why us SMWS members have been raving about Glenscotia. Some of the best oily coastal whiskues ever. If you think the Victoriana is fabulous and it is what are you doing mate the SMWS 93’s are absolutely spectacular. This is why SMWS is worth joining access to incredible whiskies. Its all about the flavour. Vivtoriana is a lovely whisky in every respect a number on the bottle would make no difference to the flavour.
Thanks for the tip!
it 100% in my top 5 whisky that i have ever had
It's now my favorite NAS... What a dram... Thanks for dropping bye Lawrence...
Between PC 10 Heavily Peated and Glen Scotia Victoriana , which one you think is tastier for the next purchase? All the best!
I absolutely love Victoriana. Dirty funk, chocolatey, woody, spicy... so delicious. Is this a new proof this year?
Cheers Alan
its the latest batch Adam....
Glen Scotia traditionally smokes its malt to 15 ppm, so that might account for some of its complexity. I wish more distilleries slightly smoked their malt.
if every distillery does what Glen Scotia does...wow...so much great whisky....cheers Christopher....
Yeah I don’t care if it’s NAS. If it’s good it’s good. But this one sounds great. Cheers Buddy 🤙🥃
So good Antonio...hope your well fella....
Well it is over 200 dollars with taxes in in Canada. Ouch for a NAV. Also selection here is far from great but we are heavily over taxed once I hear your prices...
wow thats expensive my friend....
Just cracked open a bottle of 51.5% Victoriana. What a superb bottle. Complex nose osmanthus, honey , oily, sticky, sweet berries, coastal spray, marine, long finish and no bitterness at the end. Very classy whisky. I’ll be hunting for more bottles.
There is a few different batches Kelvin...all great ...cheers fella
@@thewhiskyfriend will be looking for different batches to enjoy.
Alan, have you tried any Glen Scotia Single Cask?
@@thewhiskyfriend my current bottle I believe it’s from 2016
I have a couple in the bunker not open yet...where are you based
Did you know that GS Victorian bottled back in 2015 with 51,5% ABV was artificially colored….😮
I have two different bottles:
1) Bottled 2015 at 51,5% ABV - not on bottle, nor box it does not say “Natural Color” - and on bottle it says - E150a added
2) Bottled 2017 at 51.5% ABV - this one states both on bottle and box: Natural color
That means - not only the ABV is a variation in Victoriana bottlings, but that early bottlings had a added artificoal color to it also.
Wonder if anybody has compared these two versions side by side?
scarabus batch strength 57% abv non age statement
🌟🌟🌟🌟🧿🧿🧿🧿
Still need to grab a bottle... yet the poor thing always gets pushed back down the list by newer releases... why? When I know this is quality, and will always satisfy. I feel shame :P Cheers, Alan!
Did you pick up a gummy bear finish like I did?
might need to go back and look for those however i did get everything else at some point....thanks for dropping in my friend....
Nice review Alan. However, a non age statement won't come into my stash....
You will be missing out on a fabulous whisky 8 yrs to 18 years in it.. Even Ralfy has bought and reviewed this.. Think he broke his own NAS rule to do this one fella.... Its a must buy whisky... IMO fella...
Age statements far from guarantee goodness. Good whisky is good whisky. Classic Laddie is better than half the age statement whiskies out there. Stiuireadaer is, too.
you are correct Michael, however, this is a special one my friend....thanks for taking the time to drop bye....
