Your dad passing is a VERY valid "excuse" for not finishing flight school. Don't be so hard on yourself, everyone would struggle man. We all understand that and we hope to see you in the air soon my friend. I think a helicopter would be an awesome party trick with all the friends and would help you personally travel more places if you really wanted too.
James, for two-seater helicopters, the Robinson R44 Raven II and Hughes 369 are solid options, typically costing between $350,000 and $700,000 for used models. For four-seaters, the Robinson R22 and Bell Model 47 are good choices, with prices ranging from $185,000 to $300,000. While the R22 is a reliable helicopter, the Bell Model 47 could make a statement, as it’s the same model featured as the Batcopter in the 1966 Batman TV show and movie. I'd like to consult a financial advisor to assess the best investment value and potential return on these options.
Maintenance costs could be substantial, which might outweigh the benefits of owning a helicopter at this time. It might be wise to consult a financial advisor to evaluate whether investing in a helicopter aligns with your current financial goals and to assess the long-term financial impact of maintenance expenses.

Man, hearing you speak about the affect your dad's death had on your passion really hit me. I lost my mom in January this year and I have been struggling with my passions, studying and uploading on RUclips.
Thank you for finally sharing the story behind flight training. I also had to drive an hour to and from my flight training. It was draining to do every day. Can’t imagine trying to do the mental gymnastics of flight training while going through the loss of your father. Totally understandable to put it on the back burner. I’m a CFII ATP rated private jet pilot. If I’m ever in Utah or you’re ever in Vegas when I’m there I’d be happy to chat aviation and show you around the jet anytime.
It’s a good day when you get a new stradman video. You can’t help but root for the guy. Coming from where he did to the life he has now is just amazing. Couldn’t have happened to a better human being.
I love your honestly. It really brings up a lot of my own emotions when my dad died. Not something you expect from a car youtube guy. Thank you for everything
Strad, I’ve been watching your videos for over 8 years now. I’m 20 going to 21 in a few months. Listen, you were one of the leading motivators that got me into aviation, I’m probably at the stage at where you were when you quit, I have almost all my hours(1.5 of foggle and 1 hour of solo left) you got to get your license man. You got me into it, I would love to see you get yours. Thank you.
Sounds like you're almost done. Good luck on the upcoming checkride! I was in your shoes just 3 years ago, and now I'm flying for a regional airline here in the US. Best of luck in your future of aviation whether you're making it a career or keeping aviation as a hobby. Fly safe buddy.
It’s kind of interesting when James opens up about the inner workings of his mentality towards his father passing. To see someone so positive speak on mental health and openly talk about the hardships of something tragic that you don’t openly see.
@Jaxblckkk fr. Bricks and cement aren't cheap in Europe tho. It's cheaper here in India. For the price strad built his house, we could build a fucking mansion like twice the size

On the topic of aviation, you should definitely come out to Airventure in Oshkosh this week! July 22-28 It’s the larger airshow in the world and has a ton of resources to help you finish you license and maybe even find yourself a helicopter!! 😉
Bro, that would just elevate your game. You should totally get a chopper! Imagine the possibilities and the way you could expand your channel. You said in Graham Stephens podcast that its getting harder to think of content. I could definitely see that changing with a new and different toy like a chopper. And dont worry, the bat-cave will come in time. I'm even more excited to see what content you may bring. Keep raising that sky in your world, love the vids!
I got the chance to fly sitting in the front seat of a Bell 206 Ranger and it was an unreal experience. My grandparents lived on a runway, and we could taxi my grandpa's Cessna onto the runway straight from his garage. Nothing will beat my grandpa letting me fly the plane when we were up in the air, but riding in that helicopter was a close second.
There's nothing like the views from overwatch advantage point. I'm glad James get approval for these shenanigans, and everyone was so accommodating. Dude, finish the Batcave and get a few other items squared away before thinking about buying a helicopter.

I'm starting to like this channel more than the main channel. James is reminding me alot of Matt Carriker. Took a passion made it a living. Multiple channels, other business adventures. Way to go. Go get that helicopter.
You don't need a helicopter when your friends own them! Finish the house and garage and property. Secure all your assets completions. Then marry Sophie, and pay off the Koenigsegg, and then invite me over to BBQ for you.
James. All those colors are crazy together, what you mean James all the cars are crazy the amount work you continue to put in for us is amazing. As continue on completing your dreams, you’re sharing it with us and driving the beautiful cars like they were made to do.
Hey Strad, I started flight school just the same time as you and will be a Flight instructor in a few weeks. I've been watching your vids for years now and would love to be your CFI to get you done with PPL. I've got a plane and can come to you. I bought a 2020 Supra after you did a couple years ago and sold it to pursue aviation. Love your channel, let's get you flying!
James, as a student pilot, I completely understand leaving it behind. It sorta becomes your job for a bit. I am currently at the stage of doing the written test and doing a check ride, which I think is the hardest stage of becoming a pilot. It’s all uphill from here, I believe in you no matter what you choose to pursue.
First written / checkride is a big one to get over! Can’t promise exam day ever gets easier, but it’s all worth it in the end. Wishing you the best of luck finishing out the private. Whether it’s a for fun, or a career goal best decision I ever made. Catch ya in the flight levels.
My great uncle has a helicopter, I’m pretty sure it’s a Bell 505, but he bought it in Boston and flew it across the country to Nevada where my family has a ranch, and he landed it there and gave pretty much everyone there (100+ people) including me, a ride. It was unbelievable, he flew us around the mountains where I’d never seen on the property before, we saw some mustangs (the horse ofc) and some other cool stuff. Someday one day, as Strad would say, I’ll have one! Awesome video btw, it’s been cool to have more content coming from the second channel. Keep up the awesome work!
James, you could "job out" your helicopter and use it when you want to film etc. Crop dusting is REALLY busy right now. Lots of Bell 206's are being used one month a year for just that (that alone would pay for it over time). I was wondering when you were going to bring in a little aviation again. Check out the EAA in Oshkosh (happening live this week) to see what grass roots aviation is all about.
I would say finish the Batcave because the operating costs of a helicopter are endless. It will cost you a lot of money to maintain and keep a helicopter running properly.

James, you could probably just get a crew in that backyard to level it out and add top soil for a few thousand. Weeds will grow for now, and it'll look a little more complete, rather than going all out.

I’ve never played Pickle ball, but it sure looks fun! Great video and good luck on getting a Helicopter 🚁 ! My dream would be to just ride in one for hours. 😊
I was wondering when you'd get into flying. Heli is the choice for sure! Just a helpful hint and I'm sure the pilot had you prep before the video to secure everything in your yard but in the 18 years I've landed helicopters for emergency landing zones at the FD I've seen some WILD things happen with the rotor wash. Please just make sure everything is planted, rooted or bolted down near any landing zone. I've had fencing pull apart, trash, road signs that were loose, etc its crazy what can happen in an urban environment.
