Scotch It! You scotch gods.
This is one of my favorite bottles that I've ever had. I remember a lot of complexity to it with notes of Leather, tobacco, vanilla, and honey, and salted caramel.
very nice, thanks bigtruckboy!
You pretty much covered every single taste 📒 notes that can be found in Scotch 🥃 😂-- Wow, I'll have to go back w/ this btl. and see 4 myself--
Good review! I have finished 2 of this bottling in past year. It is an 89 score all day long, and if you consider $75-80 price for a 15yr old, this could probably support a "90" score. My favorite Cambpell town, along with Springbank 15.
Thanks Richard
This is a bottle that grew on me. I was unimpressed initially. Drank most of the bottle and was like meh. But I came back to it recently after a year or more and I'm really enjoying it. The Campletownness of it is standing out to me more and I'm picking up a little more umami or maybe an earthy mushroominess.
Great notes thank you
I agree with you 💯
Mushrooms
This is absolutely on the short list for one of the best $60-70 bottles of Scotch you can get. Just fantastic stuff IMO. So much rich flavor, no alcohol heat, it's got those transitions that Bart likes, fruity, sweet and sour, a little savory. I also noticed this bottle improved over time and after getting some air. And Scott I would have to agree I generally prefer Glen Scotia over Springbank. They come off a little less funky to me. The annual limited releases are also great.
Thanks Kyle! Can't wait for this one to oxidize a little
This bottle goes for $70 by me and was recently on sale for $62. My first bottle I got from Costco for $55. Great bang for the buck on a 15 year old 46 percenter.
Great deal
Bart is going hard in the paint with those T shirts! Haha 😂 Love it.
Bingo Baby!
A classic whisky at great value. Made my top pick of last year.
very nice, thanks Mystery!
The best value for money integrity bottle of 2021 imo. It gets better with time too. Thanks guys.
Thanks OneGlass
So is it natural color?
I have very fond memories of a bottle that I bought just a couple of years ago. Glad to hear that this particular expression is still good, and best of all, it's still available for pretty much the same price (for now). Scott, glad to see it looks like it's going better with the smelling and tasting now! Cheers!
Thanks Willem, definitely getting better (finally)
Tall gets you on the top shelf. I started with Victoriana and loved it. Non chill, no color added makes that and this 15 a great selection in the rotation--like a gift that keeps on giving,I rarely get the same flavors each time I pour some. Top of my 15yr list.
Good to know! can't wait for this to oxidize a little
This is one of my favorite whiskies from last year. It does grow on you.
looking forward to it getting some air
It’s a delicious malt. I would’ve given it a 96 no problem. Glen scotia are to be definitely commended for releasing fantastic whiskies. The 15 ticks every box for me , and along with the Victoriana, they are both my staple drams. Slainte mhath guys🥃🥃🥃
Thanks First
Only 3 distilleries in Campbeltown. I had this bottle a couple years ago, its great. I've had a few other GS and have a Cadenhead 1992 26yr just waiting to be opened. Big fan of this distillery. Great review.
Thanks Keith
@Good Taste Whisky I bought it at Scotch Whisky Auction June 2019 for $177.. That does not include shipping, taxes, insurance and 10% commission.
This years springbank 15 is mind blowing. Get you some. Few drops of water and it POPS
We like it popin
I'm surprised you guys haven't had this one yet! I like it a lot from the Ralfy recommendation. Definitely does well after some air time in the bottle for me.
We hear it takes some time to open up
I agree with you Scott, I prefer the Glen Scotia. I bought a few bottles, after it was Ralfy's whisky of the year. Very enjoyable dram
excellent, thanks Dan!
Anything Glen Scotia is just damn delicious the Victoriana is amazing doesn't need water its just delicious juice the 15 has a bit more barrel char flavor going on.
👍
The GS 15 is an easy drinking scotch. Mild Campbeltown funk. Love their Victoriana.
Bart's magma shirt looking good!
Bingo DJ
My first entry to cambletown made me want to jump onto the deeper end and now I own some more with springbank taking the number 1 spot.
thanks Erik!
Have never had it but will pick one up to try
do it!
Cheers!
And Cheers to you
HERESY! Right, now that's out of the way... I completely agree with the salt and caramel notes. I don't know if that is what Scott is saying, when he asks for higher abv og wine finish, but to me this is good but also a little on the indifferent side.
thanks Sowleg!
Love this bottle and great review as always. I agree about the Spingbank comparison. As a go-to, I'm reaching for this 15 more than my 12 SB.
nice, thanks First Phil!
Right there with you, Scott. I prefer Glen Scotia to Springbank. I am especially fond of the Double Cask, even over the Victoriana. Cheers Dummies 🥃🇨🇦🇺🇲
thanks Mark, I'll take the Victoriana over the Double Cask!
I really enjoyed my bottle, to me the flavor is quite unique from what I have had. I enjoyed it so much I bought a second bottle :)
Nice
That "funk" they probably did the dip into the tails a bit more. Great review guy
thanks uncle nate!
Gets better with time
Very good
I have only found the travel release liter of the GS 16.
I cannot find Springbank anything.
That Campbeltown funk is certainly not a note I have gotten elsewhere.
I sure dig that shirt...Have you ever heard of or watched the old Zatoichi movies or tv shows?
He was a very famous character in 25 films and about 100 tv shows.
Before the animated stuff.
A blind Yakuza with a cane sword...The same actor played him for decades.
Cheers!
Thanks Jeff. Scott has not heard of it.
@@ScotchTestDummies You young whippersnappers.
Cheers!
This is a top 6 or 7 Scotch for me. It’s complexity rivals Craigellachie 13.
I have yet to have a Campbeltown Whisky yet. I think they are way harder to find where I'm at. When I go Whisky shopping I always have Islay on the brain, and I simply forget to even look.
keep your eyes open!
I remember this one as being spectacular!
thanks Cuellar!
Oh, it is!
Bought two for 42€ each as back-ups... somehow fear, that this well kept secret is not so secret anymore
great price!
Decent solid whisky, really, but it takes a hell of a lot of time to open up. I think the Glenscotia 10 peated tastes more campbeltownish though
👍
Every Springbank is the right bottle
thanks Ursa!
Nothing unexpected? It's just whisky.
I have one backup I got for $65 but my local just started carrying it for $79 which is going to put us in the "good" whisky price range. $65 is down in the 12 year price range so for that it's a fantastic easy 46% sipper.
good call on the price for the years and abv!
what better this one or Tamdhu 15?
scott would take the Tamdhu 15
First Glen Scotia 15 i had was fantastic, 2 bottles after that, tasted and smelled kinda funky, not to good.
Sometimes you get that funk
I just got over Covid 19 last week. So time for a good dram, Holy cow I can't taste or smell anything. Can't even get the smoke in my Talisker 10! How long is this going to last?
Barts was short…Scotts was long😳. To get taste and smell back that is.
Testiiiiiii!!!!😍👍
ITTTTT!!!!
Glen Scotia 15 is "mit farbstoff" unfortunately :/ but despite that it is a good one :) and as I know there are only ex-bourbon casks ;)
ex bourbon is where I was leaning by the end of the review.
B.O.B. #1
👍
i dont know why, but i dont like the title of the video
your name is awesome!
