Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
    How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
    Never quit,
    Alex
    FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Great video! Spoke to me because I found fitness before I found business and remember applying for a kinesiology degree when I was getting my associates but wasn't in a specific program so they wouldn't allow me turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Got a degree in finance instead and found that same passion I had for fitness and channeled it into business and it's all I think about as well. It's a constant improvement and evolving discipline just like bodybuilding. and I'm getting to the point of being able to put my skills together to really reach out and take off, so thank you again for your great content and insights, much appreciated!

Wow this was incredible. You just called me out indirectly. I like fitness so I have no issue working out, but I don’t like working out without people around me. Same goes with business and sales. As a big box gym personal trainer, I was the top trainer in my gym so I liked showing off my sales skills and work ethic to the other trainers or gym members. Now I have a problem where I am a private personal trainer so I need to do my own business and lead gen without showing off to anyone.

Very valuable. I've been working out for 5 years consistently with awesome results and I used to brag about being consistent. The thing is, I like working out. So it's not so that I'm very consistent but rather I just enjoy doing it. I've been in a manufacturing business for 1.5 years and didn't like it but forced myself. At the end I left cause I was fed up with the business. I'm refocusing now on something I love doing instead. We're in it for the years and decades to come so let's do something we love. Thanks for bringing this point

And you hit the nail on the head I love the lifting but not enjoying busienss on the same level and I have to make sure I do that
Deadlifting squatting training legs and having all those endorphins go off and girls watching you in the gym and all that really helps tho hahaha
Thank you these videos are so awesome and invaluable .. and way better than stupid 3 tips to get more sales or whatever very generic videos thag other channels will do . Appreciate this real talk and your real original thoughts on these topics

Now I'm a tuition teacher and I enjoy teaching helping them learn and I'm obsess with it I just enjoy seeing my students like my own kids growing up and I keep wanting to hone my explaining abilities. The key is to like and be obsess at one skill and hone it till it blossoms and then you'll be paid what your worth.( if you like a skill write it down and do it don't wait or procrastinate just do it)

This I know first hand! Im not sure if anyone else caught this part, but having trained martial arts for 10 years, I stumbled on this only in the last 3 years and excelled more than the entire prior 7 years, because I slowed things down and focused on depth and not simply just doing it.

We like when others look at us, it give us fulfillment. You are being recognized for your work when ur there but at home you're alone. Also when your at the gym it sets a different shift in energy as everyone there is focused on working out while at home it's more of a relaxed state.

I see a lot of correlation with business and mixed martial arts too. You need all the pieces to the game to compete at the top. You need to know how to wrestle, kick box, do jiu jitsu, and combine them all to effectively defeat your opponents style. It reminds me of learning marketing, sales, delivery and competing against your competitors in your market.

Man... this is probably the best video I’ve ever seen. I’ve been working to mentally recover from an accident that happened when I was 20. I’m 27 now and up till this point I’ve been the biggest bitch. I have a physio tell me I’ll probably never run again but I can lift weights and not only did I listen and believe that I let that negative mindset poison every part of me. I completely quit life for years until now. I’m rehabbing my arm that I mutilated because I was so insane and depressed. I’ve done all the research and only listen to people experiencing the results I want to experience and that lead me down the path to find many mentees of Charles poliquin and begin the process of strengthening my body and have been consistent for the past 10 months using the principles I had the privilege of learning. Now I have a ten year plan in place that excited about taking part in every day!
What was the first step? Fucking belief man. With no belief there is no action.
Alex thank you my man. Not even that long ago I couldn’t have mentally stomached your raw perspective but man I honestly feel like it’s been very helpful for me choosing to take my life back so thank you much 🔥❤️
