If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.
Alex you are the true example of someone who lives as proof of what happens when you stop distracting or lying to yourself, face your weaknesses or the areas you are unwilling to fix, and just do the things. Like you've said before, discipline is not doing what you are good at- it is consistently doing what you are NOT good at, until you get good at it. Thanks for everything you do and share!
Admitting to myself that I do certain things out of insecurity has been huge for me and it’s honestly mostly thanks to you.
Me too
that is exactly my takeaway from watching his video, that and self-confidence
same. big lesson Im learning ongoing right now
Expecting to suck during first 20 hours of a meeting skill really resonated. I found myself not starting things for fear of not being good out the gate. That’s just a poor way of thinking by me.
oh man - me too.
Welcome to the perfectionists club.
@@BaclibreMa_DocJamal If I cant do it perfectly why start.. my mindset
@@conservativemacro80 welcome man, just grab a seat! Hhhhhhh
@@conservativemacro80 No man. This is a trap. it got me for years. Done is way better than Perfect, and it pays much more too...
I like this series of old gems to his private group that Alex is uploading lately.
How do you get access to that private group?
Same life changing
@@SumanEXE yeah?
Do you have to pay for that? I thought he wasn't selling anything 😀
Scam
sooo true- whenever I'm not feeling well/out of sync, it's usually either: bad quality sleep(ex. inconsistent sleep times, leaving lights on, etc.), poor nutrition(eating junk food, not cooking), stress(too much social media, not following schedule), and just simple things that make logical sense. Just need to be consistent at them xD
Quality Sleep & Quality Diet are Soooo Important. I can cheat on the diet here and there but without quality sleep I can’t function to my full potential mentally.
@@KingOfFinance1 same! like last week there was a day where I was just superrr energetic/productive and wondered why. Turns out I just got an extra 1.5 hours of un-interrupted sleep!
Hands down one of the best RUclips channels on entrepreneurship, period. THANK YOU ALEX.
DAAAAANG, That Ending is so good. All of us are self made. When we are poor we just don't admit it.
One thing I’ve noticed about him n Leila is when he talks about their businesses he says us. When she talks about their businesses she calls them hers. That alone says so much.
Summary
Habits
wake up every day early (by sleeping everyday early) - even on the weekends
Give to people, serving & take care of other people
Be emotionally okay with sucking for 20 hours - that’s where 70% of your returns come from
Absolute extreme ownership everything
- we are all self made, only millionaires and billionaires own it. There are self-made homeless person. self-made average people. They just won’t own it.
Thank you so much!
I love it thank you
thanks man!
The ownership point is really the difference between high internal locus vs high external locus
I became captain of a $3M yacht 20 years ago and do all 4 of these habits.
I grew up poor.
Alex's reasoning for overdelivering and giving first due to insecurity is spot-on IMHO.
I believe it steps from a desire to feel important and gain acceptance except some of us (for one reason or another) feel that we must try harder than most people to accomplish that goal.
The result is that it helps others.
I'll take the W.
Great wisdom here, Alex!
It does not matter what hour you wake up. Yes, consistent sleep times are important. Not the specific hour. If you do wake up at 4AM, make sure you are asleep by 8PM...
Other than that, pure gold.
The reason 4am is important for him is because as a CEO other people take his attention away. So if they're asleep he has uninterrupted focus time to build the business. Other people may be able to get this uninterrupted work time elsewhere 🤷
@@austinderrow-pinion2497 You are correct, lots of CEOs or business owners stay late after work for that same time or to plan for the next day week month etc.
Broadcasting from a hallway in an undisclosed location. Brilliant.
BEST CHANEL ON RUclips!
Take it easy bozo
The self-made average person line really did hit me in a deep way.

So god damn powerful! That emotional blockage and insecurity is so real and its preventing 90% of us to realize our potential
Discipline equals freedom. Point 1&2 are so simple but huge. Thank you
An overweight dude talking about discipline. Classic
Alex is a champ shot for the honest approach and sincerity great info and advice
Listening to your advise and actually applying it over the last few weeks has put me in gear! Thank you!
Thank you so much for what you do and for becoming the person you are. Not many greats have been bestowed upon humanity in this decade, but you are definitely one of them.
I am new to your channel, but i am already blown away by your content. What a goldmine of knowledge. Thank you, Alex! Much gratitude and respect from South Africa.
"if you accept you're going to suck for the first 20 hours............." That hit home! Now back to Hubspot...........
I really resonate with the first 2 habits as I've been really strict on those lately. i wake up at 4am and feel that's the best time for me to wake up. if i want i can be a night owl. but if i want i can be a morning person. humans are pretty adaptable creatures.. but definitely relate more as the morning person. It seems humans are made more specifically to wake up in the morning hours than to stay up all night due to the fact we can't see in the dark like nocturnal creatures. My goal is to be relaxing in my bedroom winding down, prayer, reading, etc by 8:30pm and then actually by asleep by 9:30pm. so that would be 6 and 1/2 hours of sleep. which works good for me.
When i do become wealthy though, I will never say I'm self made. as i can't take the credit. i come from the perspective of a Christian. And I know i'd be nowhere good without God; He's gotten me out of too many bad situations for me to think i am where i am just because of me. Just reading the bible is teaching me certain tried and true principles that give me better habits. and better habits in life can definitely lead to a better income. this is not say God will make you financially rich just by following him. but even more importantly, character development is taught through biblical principles. and this will definitely help in business for sure!
God bless you man. Keep striving
Personally I’ve found the ancient wisdom material (including the Bible) to be so helpful. Proverbs comes to mind as being particularly useful for successful living.
@@josephbrolly7232 thanks! You as well sir
@@rappcu yes indeed!
doubt you sleep 6.5 hours constantly without oversleeping
Your videos are great… thanks for opening up… It’s a lot of help to show and be more open even though you’ve admitted to being self conscious in the past
Wake 4am
Sacrifice late night motives - consistent bed times
Give without expectation
Expect 0 ROI from the first 20 hours when jumping into a new skill
💯
A man with a huge heart for helping others sharing all you know it’s great watching your videos
Dude pumping out fire content. I won’t be broke because of you.
My experience is that people are bothered when you care that much. Maybe i'm getting the wrong vibes off them, idk. I'm really giving by nature but i just feel like it's not often accepted graciously, or just not wanted at all.
THIS DUDE ROCKS...THIS IS THE MAN THAT MOVES MOUNTAINS...not hills
Hey Alex, thanks very much for this video, man! I have all the first 4 habits but the the point you made, about putting yourself in something new and not expecting nothing within the first 20 hours was amazing. I am currently learning to sell, just bought your book and will defo face it with this new mindset. Cheers
I'm not yet where I’d like to be yet as a real estate agent and investor. Alex’s channel has been massively beneficial. To me, this channel is one of the best I’ve seen for entrepreneurs about how to think and get stuff done in the real world.
We are all self made but only the successful seem to admit it. Love that quote. I got it from Earl Nightingale🤙
We’re all self made. The difference is owning it. Self made average person vs self made millionaire. Wow that hits. Own your life 💯
Looks like Super Mario discovered Steriods......
On a more serious note, love your content...Amazing how knowledge has abounded in such a massive way with the internet...We are vessels that absorb information, reinterpret and apply that, then repackage it in a unique way to share with others. Can only imagine how next level future generations are going to be!
Straight fire dude. Think you summed up lots of books in 15 minutes
I never thought about the discomfort of knowing things are unsolved being a reason to be an entrepreneur but that's why I wanna start my own business so bad.
I hate that companies who pay people by the hour allow so many problems to go unsolved either because of employee or manager laziness because working hourly programs you to not urgently get things done unless you are overloaded on work for your 8 hour period. If there isn't always 8 hours worth of work to do people get lazy at someone point because their rational brain knows they have extra time
He’s the real life Yhwach with that mustache 😂
I love how there's pizza in the thumbnail for no fucking reason
The last few minutes of this video are so amazingly true. I work with geriatrics in their homes on a daily basis and no matter what they did for a living, no matter the competence, they're just a bunch of babies that don't know how to take care of themselves when it comes to basics like food, sleeping, drugs, hydration, maybe understanding the diseases they've had for 30 plus years... hope to God I am the polar opposite of these people When I'm officially a geriatric
I just want to say Thank you. No where close to working with you, but I will be.
Great words of wisdom are timeless! I'm enjoying watching these videos from the past. Keep them coming.
Tysm!
A little late th this video, I found it most inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you brother! Taking action
These videos in the private group were the golden days Alex! Used to love these dropping sporadically
Recently found you Alex and LOVING your content - THANK YOU!
Thanks Alex. Amazing as usual.
Great stuff.
I’ve learned so much watching Alex and Leila videos. Thank you
At 12:08 there's a really important point about networking. To have great success you really do need a good network. Once you know the right people everything becomes easier. Alex is saying help them and later on they will help you make money.
First video I've ever watched from you man and I learned a lot. Thank you!
The blame game is for losers. Once I finally stopped blaming people and being negative every day it was a total game changer!!
When do you know the difference between giving and charity? I'm struggling with knowing how and where to draw the line so I can give in the right ways
Excellent video, thanks for taking the time to share.
I feel very similar to you about the giving first thing. I tend to do the same when in new groups
Waiting for the pizza talking point.
Solid content, thank you for what you do Alex
Did I miss what time this guy goes to sleep? This is like the third video where he talks about sleep habits and says what time he gets up, and not what time he goes to sleep.
Love your content bro it’s changing my life🔥
Sounds like you've read Extreme Ownership, by Jocko Willink. Would it be a terrible idea to do a video with him?
Thanks Alex, you are setting me right on track, once I slliped away(,due to new and changing condition in every-day life, new baby..)
Love it all! Thank you Alex!!!
I love the RUclips algorithm! I change my life by watching your videos!
Thank you for sharing this you seem like you genuinely care
Love these videos. Thanks for the content. It’s definitely helping me change my mind set and move my business and life forward.
Awesome top 4!! It seems way too simple and easy but it works!
great advice mate! Greetings from Spain! Very inspirational, keep it up!
Great tips but why does the the thumbnail have a picture of pizza??
This is some great advice my man. Stay up bro.
Number 5: sighing after every other sentence
Giving me confidence man, thank you.
Thanks for sharing… i like the joke at the end
Brother can you make a video on how to make your first million? And what it's like? Harder surely?
I love it!!! "I am self made"
We're all self-made...millionaire, poor person and everything in between. Good stuff @Alex!
I'm next to Vanderbilt right now,,,,was in the ER for accident,,,,
These are some empowering habits! Thank you Alex!
Great stuff! 🔥 I agree that we are ”self-made”, because we continuously are making choices throughout our lives. Although none of us chose to have a natural drive at a young age. We didn’t choose our parents, upbringing, intelligence, or circumstances at that young age. Even as an adults, we don’t choose the particlar configuration our brain has at each moment. And lastly - free will don’t exist. But let’s not go there now:). There’s a lot of randomness in our world, and it’s really effort plus our predispositions that results in our final level of success in life. Merry Christmas 🎁
I think circumstance plays a large role in why some people are so motivated at a young age and why some aren't, but it's not as simple as that.
didn't you say to reject routines to achieve goals?
Thanks so much Alex, this is so valuable. A lot of us hope to shake your hand one day for making us rich !
The one thing I disagree with is the concept of a self-made millionaire. You exist because your parents raised you, you make money because people buy your products and services. We are interdependent.
Going to sleep on the same time and waking up on the same time is very important. But waking up ridiculously early like 4 in the morning is not going to make you rich. What makes a person rich is their business model and what they do with it.
"we are all self made, only Millionaire/billionaires admit it" - great lesson.
I knew i was on the right track! I’m always ranting that you should feel good…man is not dropped into this world fat and sick and tired and most people are. It’s very good to hear that other people are waking up to that
You are a champion Alex. Brilliant advice.
It's crazy that this was only 2 years ago
Owning the "self made" is a fresh way to look at our own habits.
I found that sleeping at 11pm and waking up at 7am consistently works for me. No way I can sleep by 8pm
I go to bed when you wake up. But then again I’m a night owl 🦉. Keep up the good work gladiator ⚔️ . Let it be a lesson for all your followers, even with a busted nose you’re still swinging.
Which is also the first principal of the 22 business principles. Take extreme ownership
Nelly vibes with the band aid
The million dollar mustache
Give more in use value, than you ask for in monetary value 👀👀
Alex, huge fan and thanks for the value your provide. I have a question. What do you do with people that are “takers” and maybe exploit your giving?
The last routine to me was the most valuable
Alex thank you, you're a good dude.
Amazing advice. Thanks man!
I thought you were talking about pizza which would have given me something to relate to 😂
Another excellent video.. I’m curious about your birth month/zodiac sign
