    I would say that for me, writing about past traumas in more symbolic ways has been very helpful. Almost like choosing more archetypal, mythic ways of looking at them. I choose poetry for this. There is something about talking about the feelings more symbolically, through metaphors and images (like a word collage) really helps me process things and yet creates that little bit of distance that makes ot bearable.

      I agree. It places one's personal troubles in the context of experiences shared at a broad and deep level by human beings from way back. One is still alone, and yet not.

    Dear Ana:
    Ever since your vide "No.1 habit to boost mental clarity & scroll less" I took the habit to write down in a personal diary about my worries. I have a common place mini notebook, but the healing effects of writting my worries is practically instant after doing the excercise. I don't write everyday, only when I'm troubled by something. And it is really clarifying.
    It's like writting a mathematical problem. You know when you need to solve a simple math problem, but can't have every part of it in your mind at the same time, so you grab a piece of paper or you phone's calculator? Writting it down is the same thing for thoughts. And I think this excersice works the same way for big problems that can't be liftened up in one setion of writting.
    By writting it, you have all the parts of the trauma/problem clairly in front of you, it also let's you despersonalize from it, and analize it more objectively.
    I can't reccomend this excersice enough. Writting my problems has become my healthiest and rewarding helthy coping mechanism!

    I have followed your channel for long time. I connect with your gentle spirit. I am going to try this writing. I’ve journaled for years many went to landfill the last few years I kept. As I see hope and healing. This is a journey and sometimes we end up on a side road to review our lives. Thanks ❤

    I used to have the habit of writing down everything my mind had to say, I don't do it anymore but this reminded me of the importance of writing reguarly. Writing down stuff and taking walks were things that really helped me to process my thoughts when I was going through a very dark moment in my life.     You have been thru alot, lost ur Country, parents, navigated urself through leaving, traveling through different Countries. Away from ur brother.
    Of course u would experience PTSD, anxiety, uncertainty, deep sadness, AND a bucket full of many things.
    I feel this morning after losses of all family (death), close friends, I feel I woke up a bit from bedlam, A bit.
    I have stated many Americans may be the next refugees come NOV, no Country w/no Countries allowing Me in. If I were much younger I could easily navigate, I am much older...
    I always hope the best for you.
    I purchased a book, Called How To Carry What Can't be Fixed, I have only glanced at it. I will be happy to order you one, via Kindle or how ever possible.

    First: you are awesome! Your English is lovely! Most of us do not speak Russian! ( I took two semesters in college but...) You have every right to be very proud of being bilingual ( maybe more?🤔) Second: you have left your home country through some VERY hard times and are constantly experiencing new situations which can be very stressful! You should be gentle with yourself and again proud of what you have accomplished! We all understand that leaving friends and family behind is sad and lonely.

    Hi Ana, your wonderful, insightful, and honest videos are a great help to me. I awake with fear and apprehension pretty much every day. Managing it is very difficult. My main strategies are to walk, ride my bike, do yoga. I've also begun to get a massage every 3 or 4 weeks. Getting therapeutic touch is calming. I'm so glad to have discovered you channel Ana. Thank you

    There is a book ‘In an Unspoken Voice, How the Body Releases Trauma and Restores Goodness’ that’s been translated into 17 languages. It is a scientific look at the subject, and it might help you or a reader.

    Hi Ana. Someday when you are ready, EMDR is a great scientifically proven way to process trauma. There is very little 'talking through' the trauma so there is no danger of retraumatising yourself.

    Lovely video as always! I find this technique very useful along with every day journaling. Putting all thoughts on paper/journaling app works as an anxiety reliever for me.     Writing has been my go to for as long as I can remember. I think a lot of therapy is overrated, honestly. I've done some, but didn't find it very useful. All I really got out of it was a nice chat lol. An expensive nice chat. I can't really talk to how great my mental health is, but I think it's generally better these days than it has been in the past.

      An expensive nice chat 😁 I get what you mean! I've done therapy for some time in the past and it was just one very important phrase that my therapist told that was very life-changing, everything else was not that essential.

    Dear Ana. It is so nice to see you again although I am sorry you are feeling down. I can relate to this very much. You have helped encourage me to start my writing practice again. I kept a journal for many years, from childhood up until about 5 years ago when my little home could not accommodate my little notebooks any further! I think it’s time to accept the inevitability of technology and start using some sort of iPad device that would allow me to write with a stylo on screen. That way I can keep my accounts (very important to me) and not take up space. It’s funny how much I find, looking back into journals from years ago, how much the solution was obvious or that I shouldn’t have even worried at all. Things always seem to work out in the end. By looking back I realise how much of my life I waste worrying. I try to use this as encouragement not to worry so much but it doesn’t always work. What does work is that I get to pour out all the feelings that are poisonous to me and I don’t have to bother anyone. I have many huge problems in my life but very few people to talk to so by writing I don’t burden them anymore than I have to, plus I can be fully honest anyway, in a way I couldn’t with any others in my life right now.     I write in poetic ways myself. I might have been doing this kind of writing without knowing it. But I'm inconsistent with it. I keep my notes. It's interesting to me to see my growth, and even my creativity in my writing. Gives me a bigger vocabulary. It's just interesting to me.
