THANK YOU QUEENSRYCHE. YOU HAVE TEMENDOUS CLASS. THIS IS WHY I LOVE YOU & HAVE BEEN A FAN FOREVER. I STILL HAVE MY " RAGE FOR ORDER" CONCERT T- SHIRT FROM YOUR FORT WORTH, TEXAS FROM JULY 5TH, 1986. I WAS 24. I AM 57 NOW. AMEN
Angus McBean Shortly after 9/11 I was deployed to the desert. My son was almost 2 when I came back. He was unsure of me at first, which wasn’t easy. Though on the way home he was smiling and giggling with me. Now, both of my boys joined up and are serving. My oldest will leave next month for a year. I’ll worry but it’s in Gods hands. When you see a veteran or US soldier, thank them. It’s a high price to wear the uniform. Some soldiers spent years over seas deployed. Some never came back. To the family left behind, thank you. Don’t criticize the military. Ever. That soldier chose to be a hero. Thank you.
Tomorrow my 12 year old daughter will be performing a lyrical dance performance to this song for an elementary school's Veteran's Day program. She is a 2 deployment survivor and she is dancing in honor of all Veteran's separated from their family. Next time you see a Vet, young or old, Thank them for their selfless service.
My daughter did a lot of growing up while I was deployed. This song still brings tears to my eyes. To the 22: If you haven't been there, you won't understand, so kindly keep your comments to yourself.
Sir I am also one of those who watched our children grow up in pictures. I salute you Sir and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SACRIFICES YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HAVE MADE🙏 🇺🇸
Geoff Tate, young Ms. Tate, gentlemen of Queensryche, you really broke my heart with this. And I truly thank you. I was never in the service, nor have I lost anyone to duty, but . . . dang, this piece reminds us all. Thank you to the soldiers and soldiers' families in this clip and beyond.
Thank you to Geoff, Emily Tate and Queensrÿche for this great tribute. I am not a U.S. citizen nor have I ever served and I don't have any children but that doesn't mean that I wasn't moved by the lyrics and this beautiful video. To those that served to keep my favorite country free, I want to say thank you. I love you all.
I heard this song on my 5th deployment to the sandbox. I broke because she will never understand why we went but only remember that her Dad wasn't home where she wanted him to be. To all my fellow Soldiers this is my last tour. I've fought the good fight but losing my family is not worth the world.
I'm in Korea now in army aviation. I'm here for three years away from my wife. Even though it's not a deployment I understand the distance and the heartache of not being there. I'm glad you are home safe.
to whom it may concern, You must not have a heart for compassion for the human species or for mankind. Queensryche does not suck they are very professional at what they do they go above and beyond the extreme of the normal standard music theme and open up a variety of motions that calm us the human soul in such relaxation in harmony and for that moment it takes you away from all the stress and worries in life and set you free.
I became a father for the first time only a few weeks before my first tour of Afghanistan. This song, this powerful and beautiful song, has been the bridge between my daughter and I through multiple combat tours since then. It's as if every deployed father had channelled all of their heartache and love into this song. Every word describes how we feel and our longing to be with our children
Saw Queensryche in concert and this song was performed by Geoff and his daughter. Amazing. Not a dry eye in the house. I am the daughter and sister of veterans and proud of it. I would like to thank all the men and women who serve our country and keep us safe.
I was at that show and to this day as a Veteran with 28 years in service and having my son born when I was in Iraq, it still brings be to tears. Thank you Geoff for this Album.
American Soldier is about the best, most touching album Queensryche has ever put out. It's actually hard to listen to without tearing up. 'Home Again' is my favorite song from the album. The fact that Geoff sings it with his daughter brings another element to the song that promotes the feelings and meaning of what every military family goes through.
I do believe I have just made this song/ video my favorite of all time. I am a retired/disabled combat veteran: Gulf War, Desert Shield/ Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom/Iraqi Freedom, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Felujia, and others that can't be mentioned. United States Navy--- EOD-MU2 Det.12. I lost a few friends along the way, which cuts like a knife right into my very soul. This song means so much to me.
I was deployed when this came out😢. Most will never know that feeling that comes with holding that child of a Fallen Soldier or handing them The Folded Flag. That is something that sticks with you forever.
This was one of my mom's favorite songs she absolutely loved queensrych. She passed away four years ago from cancer I never got to say goodbye. When I think of her I always turn this song on it always breaks my heart when I listen to it but it also makes me feel close to her somehow. Thank you for uploading this.
When you are in that sandbox you don't know the loneliness, fear, just everything you miss and it all runs together.. Welcome Home Brothers and Sisters. Thank you
What a moving piece. Never heard of Queensryche until I followed a link from another song to here, trawled through some of their songs and landed on this one. I'll pass this on to some of my friends to have a listen.
This was wonderful live watching them at the time they did. And I cried. My baby was in Fallujah at the time. So know that his support for the people who served in a senseless war and the casualties from it and the ones left at home waiting. Actually my son was supposed to come with me to this concert but was in Fallujah at 18 in OIF3 n I cried through the whole concert because it spoke to me and many others personally.
when ,my wife and saw this live it brought tears to our eyes..almost everyone has friends or family in the military this song is powerful..who would mock that...just wrong to do that! grow up!
I am a Navy Hospital Corpsman Veteran who served during the Gulf war, but was not able to deploy due to an injury one month prior to Sadam Hussien invading Kuwait. I was proud to serve alongside my fellow Sailors and Marines and salute all of those men and women who are now serving this great nation to protect our freedoms and fight for those in Countries who are unable to fight for themselves.
Thank you all for your service and ultimate sacrifice. My son is in the military and although proud of him I worry so much about him. God bless you all
My youngest son served in the Marines and was deployed in Afghanistan for 6 months. Never told me why or wht he did. Hearing this song for the 1st time chocked me up big time.
This song brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. Even after so many years since I first heard it. I can't even sing along because of it but I love it so much. It reminds me of the loved ones I've lost. I only discovered the band randomly about 10 years ago but they've been a favourite since because of songs like this.
My beautiful son Josh who I nearly lost at birth you have been so precious to me. I knew from the time you were little you would someday be where you are today. It has always been in your heart. I will forever remember the day you told me as we were coming home from school your senior year in high school. "Mom you know there are three things in my life I love more than anything. You, God and my country. You know I love you so much mom. I've decided to go to the Airforce. I'm dedicating my life to our Airforce." And as we smiled at it other my response was. "Josh I love you more than anything in this world and you know that. I always knew you would and you have my blessing" " I know you will be scared for me mom but don't be. I want you to be strong, I know you will be strong because you're my mom, the most loving and strong woman I will ever meet" The Grace of God is with you my sweet baby and Mommy is too ~ I love you💝
Connie Jones Just remember, to be strong (like He said)... I know you are! I'm proud of our Men & Women who would lay down their lives for us; for me! Thank you for raising such a beautiful young Man! Be proud & sing praises when He comes home to You... Much Love from me, a Mom too. ~ peace, Nola
bonie blue, this song is so beautiful it makes me cry of emotion every time I hear it. They are too gorgeous in this sweet and deserved tribute. Oh, my God! My heart is broken to see the excitement of Geoff, who comes from a military family. Neil Wood, I definitely agree with you. I have shared on my social networks. Peace, love and harmony for all of us!
I love this song. Our son is a U.S. Marine and we miss him so much but we are also so very proud of him. Thanks for posting the video. To all branches of our Armed forces be careful and we love you. Thank you.
This song is beautiful and has brought me to tears many times. Thank you to all of you Service Men and Women and your families, past and present, for offering yourselves to protect the rights and life that I hold so dear! It is a shame that there is political badmouthing in these comments. There should be nothing but love for the song and our Service Men and Women on this page.
My dad was a Vietnam Vet-POW.My uncle was in the Marines and I have had alot of people in my family in the military. One regret is not being physically able to join.My cousin was the youngest General in The Air Force history. He dropped the first bomb in Iraq in the first War.This is probably the best song ever written for the military....R.I.P. Family time in a duet with your daughter in the support of the American troops cannot be more awesome. I pray God to protect all of our our soldiers and their families. Too much focus is being put on our own country with the election process but we have Dad's, Husbands, Friends, in harms way. Can we as a Country pray for them too, let them know that we still care a bit?
I Loved Queensryce before this album and they captured more respect than just a band after. They are honoring our service Men and Woman with this song! How could anyone thinl they are not ? They went and talked and visited with them to make this album for them to show someone cares and many do. As far as i know that is not a crime but being caring Human Beings....
i dont care what ANYONE says Silent Lucidity is the best song EVER written, and this one is right behind it....this band just rocks and cant say enough about the lyrics and how meaningful they are. i got to hang out and go golf with the band back when they were on the empire tour and these guys are just so down to earth....ALL time favorite band!
Every time I come back to this I cry like a baby for my father😭❤️ he’s not gone just don’t see him as much as I’d like cuz life is difficult😩 but this always reminds me of when he and my mom spilt, I was awake and seen it all unfold and thought it was my fault cuz I woke up. It crushed my little heart watching my dad leave knowing he wasn’t coming back home🥺😭
I want to THANK our U.S. Military Armed Forces the men and the woman that are fighting for us today!!! As well as the Retired Vets. This song still makes me cry when I hear it. God Bless the men...woman...children of the U.S.A.
@adanfabela I for one am a Grateful American. I want to thank you for your service and all the current and past veterans. You never get the credit that you deserve and some of you came home to insults and threats, instead of hugs, love and appreciation. To those and all, welcome home, we love you. MAY GOD BLESS and KEEP YOU and those who love and support you.To those who defame the men and women who gave of themselves, some for the last measure of devotion, realize the cost of freedom of speech.
some of you love it some of you hate it... the thing about Queensryche is that they have always done there own thing, had there own sound they are unique in that and that is what makes them such a great but highly under-rated band. Geoff Tate has a truly beautiful voice no matter what he sings and the songs are always poetic and melodic in the true sense of the word, the first video from them i seen was take hold of the flame and I've liked damn near every song since then.
Hold him close and tell him that you love him every chance you get🙏 You see I lost my Dad to a foe from a war of 50 odd years ago. I have followed in his path only I have went the career path with 18 months to go. I have it easier then those men and women who served in Vietnam. I get to see the family at least for a few minutes here and there on video and when I rotate out.
Probably why Queensryche doesn't play it live anymore. LaTorre is great at hitting the high notes. But, his voice just doesn't hit the same feels on the slower songs. ❤️
I heard this song a year ago when I bought the cd and u guys are still writing some good songs, it time for us americans to really give love to our HEROS, thank u brothers and stay true to your music, cause still ROCKS no matter what year it is.
Bless us all. Bless the troops, and their families. This song is very touching to me, for a different kind of reason. I lost my parents in 1989, both of them. I don't know the words to express how hard that was for me in my 20's, I can only imagine the fears and sense of loss one must have who has lost someone to war, or the like. Bless you all, the children, and partners, and soulmates.
@adanfabela "We will go where ever the fight takes us, so that war is never in our own back yards" is one of the most beautifully stated messages of this kind that I have ever read and I'm a writer who has written many articles in homage to our soldiers. Thank you for the integrity of your work and for your amazing courage to defend a country and people who often don't have the intelligence (or heart for that matter) to even understand what it is to be an American.
The album includes a particularly personal duet between Geoff Tate and his 10-year old daughter Emily. The song, entitled "Home Again," focuses on a father returning home to his family after having been gone an extended period. This theme reflects both the life of Tate as a touring musician and the life of one who serves in the military.[
This was the last best album queensryche did for ME .Ive been a life long QR fan even after degarmo left through the q2k years up to OMC2 and American soldier now all I have are memories .
just amazing i got so much respect for out men and women who serves this country and i got alot of respect for this band always have but after this album came out (American Solder) i got so much more respect for these guys im only 15 years old but my dad is a huge fan of queensryche and this is all me and him listen to when were on the road to somewhere or just when were bored we put in a dvd of a queensryche show and watch the whole thing just a father and son thing MUCH RESPECT
Some People are very well Resting in their houses, they don`t need to fight any war because they belive in nothing, they don`t like to think, they just are important to theirselves, This is a beautifull nice Song Thank you Queensryche.
I appreciate Queensryche so much for their hard work in their compassion they put into their music they will always be number one in my mind my heart and my soul!
I love you Broden, Brailynn, Brittany and Brenan. I love this song and it makes me cry. I have Fahr's Syndrom and am dieing. I went into remission before but it is back. I live on a low pension so I never get to see them. Love you Cheryl, my kids and my 1 grandson. they all live atleast 4 hours away and have no money for travel. Pension sucks. love all my family.
This song is beautiful and such a great way to start the closing of the American Soldier album. They really captured the essence of the troubles that many troops face with this album. It was very touching.
This always makes me cry. My dad sent me this song on his second deployment. Now I am preparing myself, 2 kids and our 3rd child who is due in a few months for my husband to be gone. 😓
Very touching. I couldn't begin to comprehend what it would like to leave my children behind and go off to war. Our world is cruel but thankfully there are brave people in it to protect us.
AMEN

to whom it may concern,
You must not have a heart for compassion for the human species or for mankind. Queensryche does not suck they are very professional at what they do they go above and beyond the extreme of the normal standard music theme and open up a variety of motions that calm us the human soul in such relaxation in harmony and for that moment it takes you away from all the stress and worries in life and set you free.
I'm a veteran and all I can say is THANK YOU SO MUCH

MAY GOD BLESS and KEEP YOU and those who love and support you.To those who defame the men and women who gave of themselves, some for the last measure of devotion, realize the cost of freedom of speech.
What a sweet voice!! Every time I hear this song it makes me cry. Love It!!!
This song and the video always breaks me up. So poignant. Great performance = connecting to the audience. Mission accomplished!
some of you love it some of you hate it... the thing about Queensryche is that they have always done there own thing, had there own sound they are unique in that and that is what makes them such a great but highly under-rated band. Geoff Tate has a truly beautiful voice no matter what he sings and the songs are always poetic and melodic in the true sense of the word, the first video from them i seen was take hold of the flame and I've liked damn near every song since then.
at 0:19 in the bottom row, third from the left is my dad, i love him dearly..
Dakota Price ....*Your Dad is Awesome, Dakota*
Brother
Hold him close and tell him that you love him every chance you get🙏 You see I lost my Dad to a foe from a war of 50 odd years ago. I have followed in his path only I have went the career path with 18 months to go. I have it easier then those men and women who served in Vietnam. I get to see the family at least for a few minutes here and there on video and when I rotate out.
Thank you Queensryche for this awesome song as a tribute to our troops 👍🎶
Awesome is all I can say. Lovely yet heartbreaking. No one could do that song more justice than Tate..
Probably why Queensryche doesn't play it live anymore. LaTorre is great at hitting the high notes. But, his voice just doesn't hit the same feels on the slower songs. ❤️
This video brings me to tears every time I see it... and I am not even an American. Unfortunately I was born and raised in Maple Leaf Land.
Oh this is so lovely, to see you two (father/daughter) sing together!
Very touching..
Thank you Queensryche for the Tribute to the Troops. They truly deserve it more than anyone could ever know unless you are one of them.
Powerful! Beautiful! So well done! I love this!
Wow... pure beauty, possibility even moreso than Silent Lucidity. Thank you guys so much for this.
I heard this song a year ago when I bought the cd and u guys are still writing some good songs, it time for us americans to really give love to our HEROS, thank u brothers and stay true to your music, cause still ROCKS no matter what year it is.
singing it with his actual daughter gets u right in the feels!!
Thanks for remembering our troops in a classy album this should have had a grammy nominatioin
I can't believe anyone hit dislike. My Dad was in the Military and my Uncles.
Thank you to all the patriots who fought for our freedom !!
I want to take the time to thank all the veterans who left their families to defend mine Please know that your great sacrifice did not go unnoticed
Best band hands down - I STILL cry when I listen to this song!
Please tour Australia again please guys!
Some People are very well Resting in their houses, they don`t need to fight any war because they belive in nothing, they don`t like to think, they just are important to theirselves, This is a beautifull nice Song Thank you Queensryche.

Thank you Mr. Tate for the Latin American shows in 2008. The Chile show was my 14th birthday present :)
Seid stark, im unseren gedanken sind wir bei euch. Der schmerz vergeht die Liebe bleibt
you and your baby girl....remind me of my baby girl...I love her so much...she is my little girl and I know what you are feeling
This is the one and only Queensryche setting. This is a masterpeace 👍🤟
This always makes me cry. My dad sent me this song on his second deployment. Now I am preparing myself, 2 kids and our 3rd child who is due in a few months for my husband to be gone. 😓
Song chokes me up every time i here it
Fantastic and one of my fave QR songs. Brings a tear to my eye every time x
Very touching. I couldn't begin to comprehend what it would like to leave my children behind and go off to war. Our world is cruel but thankfully there are brave people in it to protect us.
Geoff and daughter Emily here are great 💓
