So listening to this album again in my 40s is a lot different than my 20s! What a naughty naughty song... Lyrics: Another hungry look in her eyes again Pacing the floor, the hunt begins Skin-tight leather provides my pleasure Wake my fear, surge with the pressure Walk away and leave forever Do I dare? I just started listening to these guys again after about thirty years....I have to say that there are very few (if any) artists these days that have this kind of talent. Even after all of that time their music is still awesome and timeless!! God I miss this level of talent in music these days.
I couldn't agree more. I get tears in my eyes for I miss them more than anything. The change of direction in their songs, music is phenomenal. These guys were the kings of everything. Miss them so so bad.💔
+Steve Sullivan I'm with you Steve, no other band has ever touched me the way Queensryche has. I really don't know how to express what their music means to me. From the first time I heard Operation Mindcrime, I was hooked. The words and music are so intense and still significant to this day. Geoff Tate's voice is remarkable, when he sings it's like I can feel it. After Queensryche, other bands seem so basic and shallow......that's only my opinion and feelings after close to 30 years of listening to these guys.
Steve Sullivan they are amazing. I was in my late teens when they first appeared and I've never stopped, even now in my mid fifties I have to have my dose of the Ryche.
You give me chills from head to toe. Always have, ALWAYS WILL!!! Why did this have to crumble. You were the most amazing musicians ever. Miss these days.💔😭
"Dear God send us a voice that pierces the soul and encourages greatness of immeasurable consequence", Geoff Tate is that voice. Show me ONE, just ONE that can sing like that...... There's none...👍💯!!!!
I worked a show they played in Birmingham AL and got to watch soundcheck and setup they had a movie reel big as a tractor tire that played the whole set.. loudest concert I ever been to they played well over an hour guess that’s why I’m deaf lol… RESISTANCE!!! Shouts a man on the right… can’t solve the problems overnight 🤘
I was In Modena in 1991, attending the Monsters of rock. Queensryche were the third band to go on stage. They played one of the best concert I ever seen. They closed the show with Silent Lucidy. At the end of it me and the entire audience were astonished. We all gave them a 10 minutes standing ovation and we couldn't stop to applaude. 40 thousand people!!!!!!!! They couldn't leave stage because we were alla there with hands in the air. I saw lots of concert, but I never saw a reaction like that. Metallica roadies were trying to let them leave the stage, because it was Metallica turn to start their performance. Crazy.
Thanks for telling us about that concert! I LOVE to hear about times when they got the recognition from fans that they truly do deserve. NO ONE can touch them IMO. EVER!!!
I never get tired of hearing "Operation Mind Crime", it's even better live! Absolutely one of my favorite albums. Some people don't get though and that's a shame.
Empire was released on this day 8/20/90. It's the 4th full-length studio album by the American heavy metal band Queensrÿche. The album stands, Queensrÿche's most commercially successful release, reaching triple platinum status. The primary single, the power ballad "Silent Lucidity", reached number 1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks and number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Silent Lucidity" was also nominated in 1992 for the Grammy Awards for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group. The album won a 1991 Northwest Area Music Award for Best Metal Recording.
This was their best, they are my favorite band, got me thru some really hard times. I miss Degarmo and Tate, No band has touched me more. Wish i could go back to this time!
Damn, I forgot how f-ing AWESOME this song is!!! Those guitar riffs at the end… f-ing awesome!!! They were always playing these guys’ music at the gym… Man I’d love to go back to those early 90’s… These guys should’ve been way more popular!
That musical chemistry between Michael chris and goeff is unreal i never saw any band back in that era work a stage quite the why they do with everything contained within them just no other way to put it. But all of them jackson and rockinfield too no one simply performs its a well oiled passionate machine. And that charism made them the best live act of the 80s. I love queenryche. Solid songs and monsters on stage you can't beat that. Damn I miss them.😢💗💯
Saw them in Hershey PA. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen, second row from the stage, I’ll never forget it and I still get goosebumps listening to almost all their songs, almost caught a guitar pick they chucked out, guy in front of me got it just as it was about to go in my hand, I would’ve taken that pic to my grave
With fear as my friend, I walk the thin line for you.....It's no mistake that thanks to Maestro David Kyle I love the voices of Geoff Tate, Layne Stayley, Chris Cornell and Ann Wilson. When I found out he was their vocal coach I had an moment of clarity. Bravo.

Saw them open up for Ozzy killer of giants tour absolutely amazing years later I saw them at the House of blues in Boston wasn't familiar with some of the new stuff but it's queensryche nothing more need be said
Saw them on the Empire tour in Spokane, WA, Jan. '92 (or Dec. '91). They filmed a video for one of the songs that snowy night. I recall Geoff Tate was the ultimate professional as they did another take for the cameras, saying, "Please bear with us as we do that one again". They were flawless. Edit: I just looked it up, and we were the last stop on the Building Empires Tour, Jan. 3, 1992, Spokane Coliseum (now demolished). This may even be the video they filmed that night! Someone correct me if I am wrong.
I saw them on the Promised Land tour, 3 times. Type O Negative opened for them. What a show! Love them! At least the early stuff up through Promised Land.
Best band along with Alice In Chains to come out of Seattle. Bar None. 1988 's Operation Mindcrine had me getting peeled off the walls lol. I love Geoff And Chris Degarmo what a shredder. Tate has vocals that are supurb do to an 0pera back round. I adore them. Empire rocks as well. Love you guys. Please try to get along. Your brothers.
This is one of my all time faves from Queensryche. Reminds me of old times, some very tough things I've been through, and survived to conquer. Thanks guys, ty God.
I first heard Queensryche open for Ratt in Knoxville. They were performing Rage For Order. I fell in love with I Only Dream in Infrared. Been a fan ever since. However, I must admit I lost track of them after Empire.
Have always loved this song. Such a great era. Bigger than life. I miss DeGarmo. HE was THE difference. Taint let everything go to his head and lost his voice as well. I saw LaTorre do the entire Warning album with Ryche a few summers ago and it was AWESOME. He'd nail Thin Line for sure.
redlabel69 Curious to know when that concert was. Have seen them since Todd joined the band multiple times and never seen them perform Warning in its entirety! Also the songs they performed from Empire in the beginning were not the best. Todd had to learn how to sing those songs. Now he has them down. Would love to see them do The Thin Line
You should see tate live in 2018, his voice is actually excellent again. I agree with the fact that this line up IS queensryche and not the 2 bands that exist now.

I was about 9 or 10 when I first heard Mindcrime. It was unlike anything I had listened to before. I used to listen to metal in secret because grandpa, who was the elder in the Jehovah's Witness congregation disapproved of such music. Then a couple of years later, Empire dropped. Although OM will always be my favorite Ryche album, Empire holds a special place in my heart. I remember my first major crush whenever I listen to Jet City woman and this song. She was a few years older than me and was my neighbour. She used to stand at the window and call out, asking me to turn up the volume whenever I played this album. I would spend holidays peeking at her the entire day from behind the curtain as she walked about in their garden. She was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. I wonder where she is now.

One of their most underrated tracks. That bass tone is so ballsy

Honestly Eddie Jackson's sound is up there with the great bass guitarists of all time. That driving punch is so good

Not to knock the line up of Queensryche now, but it would be great to see all these guys play together again.
amazing Tate is the best singer ever. can sing any tone or range. I'm glad too have grown up to this music. rock on people.
