- In the fall of 1991, Queensryche released "Operation: LIVEcrime", a live video commemorating the enormously popular "Mindcrime" tour, which had translated the album concept into a theatrical performance.
Those who saw it live, will never forget it. Видеоклипы
If you grew up in the 80's and 90's you would agree it had the BEST music !
Almost 35yrs later, this album, still as fresh and exciting and dynamic and still gives me goosebumps and tears of joy. Opening for Metallica, then the entire album live, then the theatrical rendition, all of it, I remember now. I can't remember yesterday, but I remember. A masterpiece, on the 'deserted island' top ten list.
Metallica AC/DC all the so-called metal gods Ozzy Black Sabbath they are inferior to Queens right the only one I think might be a little better because they have Mass appeal is Def Leppard but yeah also f*** motley Crue f*** bon Jovi f*** poison
I used to have operation mind crime the movie on VHS
Great tour day on the green was one
Scott Rockenfield! One of the most underrated drummers ever.
one of my heros
Rockenfeld and Neil Peart are my.top 2 of all time!
For me this is the BEST line up of Qweensryche .
Only lineup
Without a doubt, Operation Mindcrime is the greatest concept album in human history.
I agree! absolutely epic!
Absolutely.Period.So timeless....
The Dark Side of the Moon and Animals would like to have a word with you. But it's a great album, no doubt
I think just about everyone in the music industry admits QR nailed it. Best one of all time, hand down.
I think "Tommy" begs to differ. But I love QR and think this is one of the best records I've ever heard.
One of the most underrated bands I've ever heard.
I am a Life-long Hardcore RUSH fan but Rage For Order and Operation: Mindcrime were all I was listening to for quite a while. Bought the CDs several times over. Each member of Queensryche brought so much to the table: Geoff Tate is the Vocalist every band would kill for, DeGarmo and Wilton are stellar players, and Rhythm Sections like Eddie Jackson and Scott Rockenfield are few and far between. They are ridiculously tight.
You know a drummer means business when he hangs his cymbals on f***ing chains. Beyond badass
We saw this show twice in 1990.
The talent here brings tears to mu eyes !!! 😎 Bob
Couldn't agree more Bob. So talented. So missed
When Tate was Tate and Queensryche were the real Queensryche....and there was that Genius of Chris
In fact Tate at this stage of his career lost quite a lot of his consistency and power, until 1988 he was unbetable.
@@Carlos-ol8me couldnt say it better mate, who ever knows is that tates perfomance at tokyo 1984 is the best live perfomance on the field of heavy metal, take hold of the flame......shivers
So true
Saw them do this whole album empire tour was still perfect
Carlos I fully agree, and if you listen to his vocals here up against to rage for order live the comparison is huge, considering it’s only 5 years later.
In fact I think one of the Saddest things about music in general is every great singer peaks very early, and their vocals don’t get any better as time goes on. Having said that some maintain there voice better than others.
Remember talking to my GNR enthusiast friend about how in Chinese democracy he’d kept his range but lost his power (from Illusions). But then he even pointed out he’d lost a bit of power between appetite and illusions, which was four years apart.
Kinda like in the same timeframe as Rage to Empire
My Empty Room always gets me....the power and the pain are real in such a short interlude. Perfection
First song they sang that introduced me to them////////Eyes of a Stranger..........loved them ever since..........(rosery wrapped around your throat)
One of THE VERY BEST bands in the rock/metal world.. Live shows are where the men are separated from the boys and QR are one of the most meticulous acts out there
This will never grow old operation mind crime is THE best album ever created ❤❤
Always, Degarmo and Tate. You could tell back then. Q will never be the same without both of them together. End of story.
K.
Flood Of Memories.
Scott Rockenfeld is hands-down the most talented, creative and energetic drummer EVER... Ever! The instrumental at the end, as it builds to climax and transition into Anarchy-X is Fckuing UNREAL!
Yes! I completely agree.
Can’t believe he didn’t play a single beat on OM II. That band was falling apart for a long time - Degarmo got out at the right time. Smart guy
PREACH !!
Scott was SOOOO underrated.
Uhhhh... Scott may be underrated, but he's no Neil Peart. Come on now
Man I miss Chris Degarmo.
+TerroristNeutralizer I've been saying the same since he left. Loved Queensryche back in the day (even got a big ass tattoo of the band's logo), but once DeGarmo left, the group went to shit. I'd much, much rather have him back than Tate.
A great and very underrated
band.
I think any true Queensryche fan knows how much Chris Degarmo meant to the band. There is no Queensryche without him. Irreplaceable...
Yes!!
Same
"Those who saw it live, will never forget it." It remains the best live concert I've ever seen, and I give credit to my childhood buddy John for convincing me to go. They delivered a musical and visual masterpiece.
I saw 2 shows on this tour. It was great.
It was amazing!!!
Saw them Orlando 1991, Empire tour when they played the entire album in the middle .... Unforgettable.
Greensboro NC 1991 here and it blew my mind
My Buddy Joe H got me into them more then I was and then me and Joe seen and wings Stadium
Awesome show,
Thank you Brother Joe
Every once in a while I need to watch these videos again to remind myself how freaking good these guys were back in the day. I saw them twice at the Gorge at George, Washington. Absolutely one of the best live bands ever!
Yep! I'm the same way. They were as professional as it gets, in their prime!
7 minutes onwards.... Geoff leaves, makes his escape.... No ego, I've done my part now it's time to put the spotlight on the others... Then it's just a glorious crescendo of brilliance through to the end...
These 5 were GODS at this time!
Wake up people!!!!!
Gods? Drama much?
I actually agree!! To sound that good live and let’s face it, they all look amazing too!! Just an untouchable band back then!! Greatest concert I ever witnessed!!
My heart stops when he says "Now who will come to wash away my sins, clean my room ,fix my meals be my frienddddddddddddddd..Best voice ever
20+ years later and I still love this album.
I loved this concert.
Me too!!
Great Performance every time I have seen it!! 💯
31+ years... still the best! ♥
One of the best band of all time
And then he took me to see them...What a fucking experience...Excuse my french...
Geoff Tates range is ridiculous! Classic Queensryche kick ass.
Everyone who said their piece is absolutely correct. I love rob Halfords vocals, but can he come close to Geoff Tate?, .....nopp
Took my then GF and now wife of 30 years to QR on New Years Eve 91 In Seattle. She had no idea of the Mindcrime album and was all hung up on silent lucidity. That show changed her forever. 😂
We went to dinner with friends before the show, only had 1 ticket when we got downtown and drove back to Renton. FOUND the ticket on the ground in the parking lot then made it back as QR was opening. CRAZY.
An absolute masterpiece that remains in heavy rotation for me over twenty years later.
Really powerful performance from the whole band, they definitely were top of their game during this era!
Lucky bastards those who saw the shows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw THIS one! Was mostly filmed in Madison, WI
So so so lucky my .....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
saw it in milwaukee
Josee Forget saw it 5th row best concert ever
3 times too. Still the best show I've ever seen.
The final lyric of "My Empty Room" made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. What an amazing vocal
I wonder if any of the original 5 ever flip on RUclips and watch these classic live performances and reminisce about how tight the five of them…THIS 5…played together.
Classic. A complete formula, band, vocals, lyrics, and chemistry all a perfect blend.
THE Mighty Mighty Queensrÿche!
🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
Operation Mindcrime was one of the best Rock Operas of the 20th century! Queensryche was an amazing band back then!
And there's no denying Geoff Tate in his prime, was the consummate showman - just phenomenal! I wish the hands of time could go back 25 years and see these guys again in their prime... Glad for video, but nothing beats being there
Easily one of the best vocalists of all time in his prime.
I did awesome
Saw them live with Halford and Maiden in 2000 on Halford's birthday. They were all on point, but unfortunately the first two bands had to compete with Maiden, and there wasn't really any competing with their energy. Still, Tate was fantastic live even then.
I totally agree! One of theee best shows/tour I've ever seen! Nothing beats being there!!
I went to see Geoff do Rage For Order and Empire live two days ago. He's gotten his voice back in shape, and he's still extremely charismatic. For a man in his 60's and still nailing songs like Queen of The Reich and Walk In The Shadows, he's a force of nature.
I've said it before & I will til the end of time! Operation Mindcrime is the best concept album ever! It's forever-banging y'all! And to Geoff Tate, your voice is top shelf & par excellence good & sexy Sir!! Yay-ahhh!!
Well, your "end of time".
@@stevenschoen398 "Throughout eternity!" Is that better? Lol😎🌍
This album came out my senior year in high school and the show was awesome......These guys copped their songs live and put the concept of Operation Mindcrime on stage ! Pretty much defined our times and opened our eyes to the reality!
Now THIS is Queensryche! This band was a total MACHINE during this era and one of the greatest live heavy metal bands ever to take the stage!
GOD do they ever miss Chris DeGarmo.
I can tell without any problem that Queensryche is the true definition of "Underrated"
I love how they bridge right into a reprise of Anarchy X in the end. It sound's so brilliant, I prefer the live version over the album cut.
Operation Mindcrime...Hands down; one of the best metal albums of all time!
I was at Hammersmith for this tour. It was one of the best live experiences. There's a line in this video description that reads, "those who saw it live, will never forget it". Couldn't be more true. An absolutely outstanding show. I've seen them perform mindcrime several times, even 1 & 2 on the same night but, I think this (Empire) tour is the definitive version. Queensryche were just simply one of the best live bands to ever grace a stage.
This is my all time favorite band. DeGarmo and Tate ARE Queensryche!
I think they're so unique they deserve a category of their own. Music has literally not been the same since 1988. These guys set the bar SO high with this album/tour that no one has been able to touch it since and probably never will.
You're absolutely right. Note no one even tries to cover their music.
Agreed
Lol I agree. The bar was set so high with this album (concept, lyrics, melodies, music videos, vocals, etc..). I just cannot see any other band topping this!
Most unbelievably amazing concert I’ve ever been to.
The only band that even comes close is Iron Maiden. They put the same quality into their live shows.
My brother played this over and over again. I couldn't help but fall in love with this music....
a buddy of mine and i were talking a while back about concerts. he and i are veterans of hundreds because we came of age in the 80's when you could see three concerts a week. we both said this was the best show we ever saw. over all songs, talent, stage show, pyro tech, lights, just an incredible over all experience. i would pay good money for a time machine to go back and relive it.
Probably one of the most important queensryche album. That and empire
Without a doubt best live show I ever had been to outta 30+ concerts
my youngest brother died in a car accident in 1992. This was the last band he saw in concert. i took a liking to them and its cool to come here and relive old memories. i was really into this album when it came out, my other brother bought me the set with a casette (yah im old) and a video. they were talented.
can't imagine losing a brother my friend.....sorry to hear.....you both have great choice in bands
A tragic loss. I believe Queensryche fans go to the great Rock Symphony in the sky where everything is far more vivid than it can ever be on Earth.
very touched to read this...I am sorry for your loss...yet, of course, no one can even try to fathom what such a loss means to the person that has to go through it...hope you found light again in your life after this tragedy...
We had that box set too!!!
Sorry to hear of your loss!! I've lost 2 of my 3 Brothers, it's More than Painful.... I'm glad for you that you have this connection to your Brother. I Get It!
Genius
That .... is a damn good song ! Omg ! 20 years later, I still feel like they must have sold their souls to make it so good.
I remember when my buddy bought this Live Crime box set we were 15 and it changed our lives.........beautiful times with the whole world laid in front of us!
Operation: Mindcrime is the best heavy metal album ever recorded
Everyone gets an opinion.
there is absolutely no words to describe how magnificent this is
LOL.. ya baby
That took me back in time. Phenomenal!! Saw them in 1991 on my birthday. This tour. It was beyond the best concert I’ve ever been to.
Operation Mindcrime will always be a true masterpiece, from start to finish, nothing else out there has come close to the genius of this album. It’s timeless!
This is so good it gave me the chills
Queensryche at their peak, I saw this show in Nottingham England in 91, it was on the Empire tour, but they still played the whole of Operation Mindcrime, the best show I have ever seen, it was incredible
The sheer task of just executing an album live, yes the whole album!
After years of nasty chemo pumping through my body, my short term memory gets a little lost sometimes...... but my long term memories are rock solid! I know every word and every note of this album. It's sooooooo weird how the brain works.
SO... when he says "I can't remember yesterday", I have to laugh a little because sometimes I can't remember yesterday. LOL. I love these guys!
If there was youtube and social media in the 80's these guys would have had millions and millions of followers. It is hard to single anyone out, they were just awesome together on stage and in the studio.
Queensryche, one of the greatest bands of all time. "Operation Mindcrime" & "Livecrime".. The Best ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember seeing this Empire Tour back in '91 or '92 and was absolutely great. They played MindCrime in its entirety after songs from the Empire album.
This is History, the best EVER !
His vocals are incredible.....hits the notes so clean......I love it
No one can ever come close to this mans vocals, phenomenal performance every time.
He was so good for sure.
Rob Halford. But yeah Jeff is a Master
@@anandasmom Geoff Tate
@@whitepony27 I didn't nor would I ever type Jeff.
Fkn spell check
Best live band ever!! Saw them in 92’ and by far the greatest single concert I’ve ever witnessed!! Tate’s range is insane. And Degarmo’s talent is next to being touched by a god!!
Thank you for mentioning DeGarmo. everyone talks about Tate and rightly so, but he was only a part of this band. DeGarmo wrote at least half of Mindcrime and probably more
Absolutely, Degarmo wrote most of, if not all the musical arrangements. You can really tell when he left the band cause non of the songs had that same amazing sound!! Wilton is a kick ass guitarist too!! Both are my idols!!
I forgot Geoff’s diving through the virtual pane of glass. I’ll bet it looked great to those who saw it live. I miss the real Queensryche.
Seriously, I would kill for another album like this
For people who truly grasp the magnificence of the album, it's inecheted itself inside our brain. Our being. What I wouldn't do to be on the path of life I was on when this was in heavy rotation with me. To know what I know now. My decision making would have been completely different with a better grasp of my vulnerabilities. I would have never let anyone inside.
Best live concert performance I've ever seen in my life was this concert. I saw it in Sioux Falls, SD and it was every bit as good as this one filmed for the Mindcrime box set. What I wouldn't give to go back in time and see it all over again. The whole band was at its peak and this, IMHO, was one of the best rock albums ever made.
Ditto. Charleston, WV here and even though it was the Empire Tour, the Mindcrime portion blew away so many great bands/shows I've loved and seen over my 30+ years of concert going. This CD stays in my car player at all times and goes round and round and round....it never gets old. Mindcrime = Musical masterpiece.
Are you still in Sioux Falls?
I've NEVER seen better live performances than Queensryche!! What also amazes me is how Geoff can consistently deliver vocals that are so rich in expression, emotion, and texture, and he does it just as well in the studio as he does live! The passing of time cannot dull the brilliance and relativity of Queensryche music or lyrics!
@@waylong25 No, I lived in Brookings at the time. Since moved to the Twin Cities. (Sorry I didn't see your comment earlier. )
Then you must know how Eddie Jackson's bass was/is so fucking loud and penetrating...
QR at the hieght of popularity. I saw this tour show twice and have seen hundreds of shows since...NOTHING will ever come close to the sheer talent these guys posessed! So sad to see what is happening with the band now. I long so deeply for these days again...
One of the best performances I have ever heard!
9 mins 28 sec of pure, fuckin magic!
One of the best songs ever made and incredible album
Awesome!!! Viva Queensryche!
Still freaking love this badass rock! Nothing better never will be!
They're all great musicians and Geoff Tate is a god, so i just want to also point out that Scott Rockenfield and EddieJackson have a unique and incredible sound together.
Operation Mindcrime is in my top 5 albums of all time. They were perfect live in their heyday too.
At their peak. They were great
This is incredibly powerful!
Can it really get any better than this from a live performance?
iddddaduncan yeah... it was a tremendous performance but very high reverb annoys me though!
kazi riasat You may be right but I would do anything to hear the reverb again
Yes, not having used playback for keyboards
I absolutely love the reverb
i cannot give enough thumbs up for what you said......this is about as good as you get.......fiveFUCKINSTARS!!!!!!
A must see iconic rarely seen version. The Best! Queensryche
REVOLUTION!!!
Vetej Vtej Exactly
REVOLUTION!!!!
Those who attended this show are really, really lucky. I would give my kidney to go there. Pure fucking magic.
It's just supernatural band 😍
6:25 - 9:13 probably the best instrumental break of all time !
JohnnyHARDROCK I wholeheartedly agree...Chris & Michael were on point...and Scott Rockenfield is sooooooo underrated....
i agre
Hell yes I do, saw that tour back in 1991 at Long Beach Arena with special guests Warrior Soul.
Fuck yes!
Nope, the video is 9:28 long
there are a lot of good metal singers/shouters, but nobody is good as geoff tate. rly, this is just insane good!
One of the many queensryche concerts I was sooooo lucky to be a part of, best times ever!
Man, still blows my mind, just incredible 🤩
This was the best live performance I ever saw.. Greensboro NC 1991.. Perfection. Actually saw these guys about 2 weeks ago in WS.. Still rocking even though DeGarmo was not with them..
Ive seen them live 14 times...this tour was my first. STILL gives me chills and makes me smile.
Chris Harrell 14 that's 14 great days of your life, i only seen them 3 times.
+Chris Harrell First time I saw them , they were opening for Metallica. Never really heard of them but was blown away. That drumkit was sick.
patrickbateman54 Now in a few hours is Geoff tate birthday.
These guys set the bar so flipping high……
GREAT GREAT WITH THE GREAT VOICE OF MR TATE
Queensryche died when Degarmo left . The writing has not been the same since. Period. I long for those days too .
Really, great musical composition.
Same concert I saw at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan Ks 1991!! Greatest show ever!! Lovin'the chain's an the big screens showing the Story he's telling you through song Heck, through the album 🤘💯✌️🤘
the best concept record made
+Jamie Carroll ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY!!!!!!
Tommy
@@jamesgray7064 Tommy is so very over rated. The Beatles "Sgt Peppers".....Pink Floyd's "Dark side of the Moon", "Wish You Were Here" and "The Wall"......Dream Theater's "Scenes from a Memory" and absolute classic that is Operation Mindcrime ALL blow Tommy out of the water.
Michael H not a concept album. A Passage To Bangkok, The Twilight Zone, Lessons, Tears, and Something for Nothing are not in any way related to one another, nor to the title track of the album. 2112 is, however, one of the greatest songs of all time
I agree 💯
one of the greatest bands/live bands ever!
Was at this Madison Wisconsin show in 1991....lost my voice for days from screaming so much! Was an amazing show and one of the best concerts I have ever seen!!!!!!
Ahhhh...for the good ole' days!
Greatest concept album ever hands down and how they end the concert here with Anarchy X reprise and the "revolution" visual makes me want to run through a brick wall...best ending ever
Sad that this kick ass music doesn't exist anymore. Almost everything that comes out now is such crap compared to this. I listen to Queensryche all the time in my car, particularly LiveCrime. It is kick your ass music and always will be. Miss these guys.
