Jolly good tribute, mates! Glad to see our old show is still inspiring mayhem! And thanks for the shout out! We actually revisited this experiment ourselves a year later so we could "see it" - and discovered the same thing you did here: It's best to use a knob-style microwave, and the door really does become a literal projectile! Without a fence in the way, ours traveled some 10+ meters!

The door was flying the other way. The force of the door is equal to the force of the microwave is equal to half the force of the airbag. The mass of the door is less than the rest of it.

Think you should erect a flag poll in the garden with a red warning flag when filming so the neighbors know when to take cover.

my guess is that they knew what to expect and placed the table in a way that wouldn't jeopardize the windows.

Filming an episode involving an airbag...car crash happens likely causing airbag deployment 300 meters away. Couldn't have planned that out any better unless you had cameras pointed at the road

first thing I thought when I saw where it was placed, but the microwave is fairly heavy and most of the force would have been downward, any other force is going to have been transferred into launching the door off it's hinges.
TheHitchenator Easy to say that now, but if it was really that predictable they wouldn't have stood where they did. Other smaller parts could have easily been blasted backwards like bullets.
Now ,, I m for having fun,,, but you lot must have saints for neighbors. ..
If I did that in town,, I'd still be in jail....

Green is a primary colour in terms of light, where it replaces yellow. Red, green, and blue. You're talking about powder paint colours though so never mind.
Wanted to mention that as well. It doesn't replace yellow though, it sits between yellow and cyan.
Here's a complete circle (for print, video & photo correction purposes): red - magenta - blue - cyan - green - yellow.
Another thing I learned way too late is that the colors opposite each other in this circle have very similar channels in Photoshop. Less green = more magenta + the photo gets darker. Less yellow = more blue and the photo gets lighter.
Anyway, that (hopefully) concludes my derpy thing of the day.
