Even though we knew George died from Big Bang,, it still came as a gut punch. Young Sheldon brought Sheldon's family to life and endeared themselves to us.
As soon as George said, "Suit yourself," and left for school, I knew that was it. I really thought they would do it in the final episode or in an epilogue at the end of the final episode (that was my hope), but it's good TV that they did it like this. Lance Barber and the writers took a one-dimensional dumb, hick without a lick of sense from TBBT and made him into a terrific and flawed character. I'm glad they showed that he didn't really cheat on Mary but just needed to be needed and respected and that Sheldon was mistaken when he walked in on them having sex.
Yes! Exactly! I didn’t have any idea that this fun show was going to end with heartbreak for the whole family! I actually felt sick over it, cried and wished that I hadn’t watched it!!!
I HATED that George DIED!!!
@@denisewillette-legg1626 yeah me too. I also hated that my father died. I miss Daddy and Meme altogether. RIP
700th like
I felt real sadness. George was the 80s Texas dad. Paycheck to paycheck high school coach. He was my favorite character.
Right. He was a soft warm pillow to fall into. Beautiful role, perfectly played. warmy warmy
I liked him a lot, too.
I liked his character too. It caught me off guard and I even had tears
It's the performance that Lance Barber brought to the character over the course of the series is what really makes this moment hard to deal with.
He really made the character someone you wanted to see every week.
It's Missy's reaction followed by Sheldon's the really got me. I cried and I usually don't at TV.
Well said. He deserves an Emmy
Gonna miss George, he was so relatable as a male figure.
Yeah! I had another image of him, from TBBT. Young Sheldon made itr very hard for me to deal with his passing :/
Lance Barber made George come alive, He was the quintessential middle class dad and even though he was aloof at times, just like a real dad he was always there in a pinch. A great performance by a talented crew.
And he sounds like such a gentleman, an intelligent, sweet man IRL. Such a wonderful creator of George, such a nice man IRL. Hope he gets another really good character very soon.
@@justdoit7303 Yup, me too!!
Young Sheldon is 10 times the show that big bang ever was.
I’m going to miss the show very much and I’m very heartbroken that George is gone.
Agree!! I enjoyed so much watching young Sheldon from the very first season my fav character is George junior he killed it with the accent and yet im not interested in watching the big bang theory
Its because this sheldon is quirky, tbbt sheldon is rotten. These people are much more relatable
Agree.
Agreed, no comparison in my opinion
Agreed. Young Sheldon is SUPERIOR to The Big Bang Theory in every way.
I'm really glad they didn't have him die on screen, as I was already tense about it. He and Meemaw were my favorite characters.
I think we were all hoping the writers and producers would go easy on us. Their decisions were superbly played out; kind and gentle. Just like the character.
A real class act.
@@clairereynolds8583 Superbly stated!
I wanted them to and was disappointed when it didn’t happen
Yes!!! I was relieved that it happened just as it did. Knowing that it was coming was anguish enough.
Like my grandma died at work of a heart failure more of a shock and didn't get to say goodbye and she was my legal guardian.
This broke me. Being a father myself I connected with George, and also being a heart attack survivor myself, his first cardiac event brought back sad memories. But for him to pass, I knew it was coming, but I still wasn’t ready, I was inconsolable.
I hear you, bro. I'm a dad to a 10 year-old as well, and I pray to Jesus every day that this doesn't happen. I want to be around for him for a long itme.
no man on my father's side has lived past the age of 56. I'm literally counting my days knowing the inevitable is coming
@@AlainnCorcaigh don't look at it that way, man. You might set a new precedent.
@@AlainnCorcaigh you will break that pattern.
Oh my goodness, sir. This is a different dynamic in the viewer voice. Fears can have so many triggers and take on so many forms. Thank you for opening my eyes and heart to what binds us all: good faith and empathy for others.
A moment of silence for everyone who watches the show and didn’t get to this point yet.
Edit: To everyone, I already know
I'm happy to have start watching the show 4 months before season 7 and I believed they were gonna kill him off in the last 2 episodes. Loved this show now to finish suits and begin TBBT
We've known George dies when Sheldon is 14 from Big Bang Theory.
You had several days to watch it, and it's literally the title of this video. You could have passed on it.
@@johnkalap9314 it's literally in the title of the video. You know its coming before you even get a chance to pass on it.
OMG right I felt so sorry my Tia didn't know, and I spoiled it for her, I was like I'm sooooo sorry I watched the big bang so ik it was coming, and I just assumed everyone did. She sat in shock
Lance Barber reminds me of my Dad and it made it all the more real. Great, great show.
He looks like my late dad did at that age, even with some of his expressions & shirts he wore. A couple of my siblings and my husband have also noticed and commented on this as well. So, yeah, this did make it all the more real.
I'm someone who has not watched Big Bang Theory, I was shattered as this came to fore.. great actors breathe life into their characters, the whole crew of Young Sheldon is a testament to that.. Lance Barber you are a great actor and your character of George Sr. is someone I really loved on the show, thank you for all the laughs you shared with us.. ❣️
I sobbed. My daughter’s only consolation is that Lance is just fine.
I'm glad to read that George is at peace with his passing. You were the best, and it makes me feel a little better.
Being Big Bang fans, we knew George was going to pass, but seeing it happen last week was heart breaking. If the cast ever reads this, you guys are wonderful, believable, and FANTASTIC!! My family and I have loved every episode. We can't wait for Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage next fall. We hope that most of the cast is back.
What? Next fall? I thought this was the show's finale, not just the season? 🤔
@@angelamfieldI think they are doing a spin off with Mandy and Georgie.
@@angelamfield ruclips.net/video/_sItcwY_l_0/видео.htmlsi=3S4QbHvrRICNKUS3
@@angelamfieldthere’s a spin off about Georgie coming this fall. It should be entertaining.
I read that none of the Young Sheldon regulars are going to be in it, just Mandy and Georgie. Hopefully that’s going to change.
It is a shame that George Sr. had his life cut short just as he was on the cusp of realizing one of his major goals. But, at least he passed on a high note.
Also, another silver lining is that they redeemed what Sheldon had perceived as infidelity on George's part by showing that it was actually just Mary engaging in some spicy roleplay.
That's because the writers wrote around that, they wanted to make fans happy to make George a likeable character, and family friendly. I liked this show a lot tbh.
@@metalmacabre9991
Sheldon, while he did complain on the Big Bang theory about his father. He also speaks very fondly of him.
The way young Sheldon covered the infidelity. It’s more along the assumptions Mary, Missy , Connie have of George st behavior. While nothing physical happened. They never adress this properly among themselves and just let sleeping lions lie. Sheldon only has the opinions of the three women of his life to work with.
The part about George sr being an abusive drunk was pure head cannon filled by the fanbase. They projected a boogy man of a bad father . The show proved them otherwise.
Young Sheldon is a love letter from an older Sheldon to his father and family.
@@brawl8beautifully said! Thank you
@@brawl8 .. perfectly put!
RIP George, you were the best and knowing he's at ease with his death warms My heart a lil bit
We loved George. The whole Cooper family. Sorry to see the show end.
Except Mary and Sheldon
I had to watch this episode a few times to let it all sink in. I knew it was going to happen, had an odd feeling when George said "See y'all later." My gut said that we wouldn't. Real tears. This wonderful show provided years of entertainment and gave me more insight into my beloved Dr. Sheldon Cooper. Thank you. 👏👏👏
Ohh no George - you were a fantastic character - I'm going to cry - really hard - I think one of the most memorable scenes for me is you protecting your daughter in the ditch during the tornado - it was so emotional, but you being written off - well - good bye - it's not like any of us had a choice. But you played your character with a finesse that nobody else could do any better. Best wishes in whatever you choose to do going forward....
Knew it was coming from the getgo, but....still took the legs out from under me, absolutely loved George. Lance did a phenomenal job portraying Sheldon's dad, thank you Lance!
Even though I knew it was coming, I still cried😢
I am sad that George Sr. Died. He is a beloved character in the show and cried. It caught me by surprise.
RIP George, you were the best and knowing he's at ease with his death warms My heart a lil bit ❤
We were sad and cried; a lot.
Him and Georgie became my favorite characters. This one hit hard but knew it was coming. Sad to see the show end as it is , so this adds to the sense of loss.
So sad..we knew it was coming but I cried like a baby!!!! Definitely going to miss this show...we're big fans at our house..first of BBT and then Young Sheldon...it's like they're all part of our own family!!! xo ps: I had no idea that Montana Jordan's accent is real and not fake for the show!!! :)
Annie Potts is only a bit over what she normally sounds like, being a Southerner, but you are right, Montana's accent is the real deal.
I still cry whenever I see this scene. I was a mess when I saw this episode the first time, could not hold back my tears for hours. It felt so personal for me.
I lost it, too. As soon as Mary was wondering where George was, I started saying out loud, "No, no, no...." Then the knock on the door and seeing the silhouettes. I LOST IT. I was so upset I had to rewatch to see what they even said.
Montana helped some of the cast with their accents since he is the only main cast member that’s actually from Texas. Which makes his name a bit ironic!
Cause Montana Jordana is the only one from the cast who is from Texas.
Broke my heart… Always love you George
We all knew that this is coming, still it hits harder than anything 🥲
Young Sheldon ends this Thursday on CBS.
😢
You don't say 🤔
I still think there are 2 more episodes that follow
Why?
@@deadlydal1I think it’s one long episode. Like an hour long season finale
Loved Lance Barber in this role all the years the series was on. He was funny and irreverent and totally endearing and although we knew it was coming, I’m so sorry to see his character die at the end of the last episode. He’s a talented actor and comedian, and I hope we’ll see him back on TV or in the movies or something great very soon. RIP, George Cooper. Thank you, Lance Barber!
thank you mr lance barber for a job well done on this character
Bravo to Lance! I hope we'll see more of him in future projects, great guy
This episode hit me so hard. The acting was amazing. I felt for George and what a family 🥰
I only started watching this show at the tail end of last year, but it's amazing how quickly it grew from a time-killer before "Ghosts" to a favorite in itself. The characters were real and engaging.
I also never watched TBBT regularly, so I had no idea this was coming. Talk about a punch to the gut! 😢
We knew it was coming, but still weren’t expecting that knock on the door, which made it so shocking and sad. Mary’s face captured what we all felt. I’ve so much respect for the writers. Every episode was so masterfully written. They drew us into their world and I wish it could keep going!
im gona miss this show soo much this is my fave show an im so sad its going off but at least we get a spin off with mandy an georgy an the baby but its still super sad tho 😢
i never watched TBBT but I loved Young Sheldon, George’s death caught me by surprise my heart dropped
Such a beautiful show with amazing acting.
George dying was a punch in the gut for me 😢 I am an all time HUGE fan of young Sheldon and George was one of my favorite characters, but unfortunately we all saw it coming
I have the tissue ready. It is going to hit hard. I cried just seeing the two at the door I knew it happened. I was wondering all along how well it would weave the mentions in Big bang. Thank you all for so much and Annie I love you .
As someone whose father dropped her off at school and died at 46 before school was out that day, George's death hit me hard. I was 11, but like Sheldon's family, I never got to say goodbye, and life was never the same. Hug the people you love. You never know when it will be the last time. ❤
I didn’t know what his voice actually sounded like
Montana (Georgie) has his same drawl IRL, I was surprised to hear that Lance doesn't.
I’m glad they spoke on this because after I saw it I actually had trouble sleeping that night
I wish this part never happened like God whish the story took another turn and George never had to die ,I felt so bad I cried 😭
It brings me back when I loss my dad
Same
His last words are so realistic. Just a “See y’all later.” A normal parting that was about to become permanent but none of the Coopers knew it yet. It’s so heartbreaking.
He became lovable and his passing in the show was felt by anyone that kept up with young Sheldon. 😢
The actor for George was really the best on the show. He managed to play the line that showed how great his character was but also why Sheldon perceived him as in tbbt
Lance Barber made George Cooper human I'm glad they decided to make him a good dad instead of the buffoon that Mary describes in the BBT when remembering him Sheldon often says he misses him and we had the chance to see why great job
We need to see Lance Barber as a real person. Snap us out of our wonderful 7year fantasy and realize what a safe, warm 7 years it was. We LOVED relating to George's warmth in character. We still can! I love how he reminded all of us here: it's a story. Stories end. But Lance is still here, folks. Remember that. It's all good
Even though we knew George was going to pass away from the first episode, there would be times I’d be like no, not now not now, and the way that they change that he never actually had an affair that it was his wife wearing a wig made me cry and then this happened and then I thought about it. It was the perfect time for him. If he had to go he had the biggest dream ready he had his family and the last thing he said to them was I’ll see you later, that was such sweet writing
We all knew about this but the writers did a great job since we still didn't see it coming.
I just watched this episode last night. I cried so much during the episode, and afterward. This morning, I watched some videos on George's death, and cried a lot. Ugh. I love their family that I've watched for 7 years. Perfect cast for my favorite show.
More often than not I found George to be the most entertaining in the show.
As much as Lance may be sad that George won't have anymore lines ... he has to love the attention and love he is getting now that his beloved character is gone. ❤
I won’t be watching the last episode to emotional because my husband died on August 7th, 2023 from his heart attack and we watched all the episodes of Big Bang theory and the Sheldon episodes together until his passing. I’d probably have a nervous breakdown.
Here's a BIG HUG from SoCal.... 🤗😇
I cried so much from this episode just like everyone else that love love loved this show! Much thanks to my sister who got me watching this show just last year!
I am sorry for your loss.
@@melissamurray8307 Thank you so much
My condolences
@@danatedawg1018 🙏 Thank you
Nice to hear the cast, especially Lance, speak about the episode. For the first year or so, it was hard to see Lance as "George Sr." instead of "Jimmy Speckerman" (Leonard's bully on TBBT). But, as the show went on, he became the beloved father we've all come to love. Seeing Lance out-of-character and how nice he is was a refreshing change from so many stars of popular shows.
This show brought us a whole new perspective, who knew we would miss George this much.
It was hard for us to watch. I loved George!!!
Such a great show, from the very first episode. Always made me laugh! I felt the heartache though when George died. Wonderful writing for this show and TBBT.
I love, love, love all these people. They are just like the family I never had. Sad to see the end of the series but we are promised a new spinoff and I will be in the front row. Thanks a million to all these steadfast and loyal actors. Best show ever!!!
Lance made George his own. I hope that man goes on to bigger and better things because of this.
Great show. I loved every single episode. RIP George and as for the cast of Young Sheldon - good luck with your future endeavors.
I cried a lot.
I'm going to miss "Young Sheldon"! It was such a wonderful series. It not only covered and further explained the Cooper familial stories as told by Sheldon on "The Big Bang Theory," but it took on a life all its own. The family we were introduced to on TBBT was brought to life, and we fell in love with them, each for their own quirks and strengths. I knew George was going to die, but his passing on last week's episode (season 7, episode 12, "A New Home and a Traditional Texas Torture") was still a major gut punch. I felt emotions that I didn't expect. My own dad died on the first day of my junior year in high school, so I expected to be a little prepared whenever the writers included George's death, but boy was I wrong. George's death was still somewhat of a surprise. I felt badly for him and his family. For the future that they were robbed of, and because George died without his loved ones present. Sighhhh! Kudos to the actors and writers for 7 fabulous years, and 127 episodes.
George death as you have been a good father broke my heart I felt a emptiness in myself hard to explain please comeback in another new set of series with same gentle character
Loved the series and loved the way Chuck brought up his death.
Couldn't help myself, breaking out in tears the moment the final 2 episodes begun just felt right.
gonna miss it great show
I cried. Hard. And I knew it was going to happen eventually. It still hurts my heart. I really loved this show.
Great show, thank you!❤😢
i cried like baby
Although it is expected, it is still very sad… we love you George. ❤
My God! I never thought I will be this engulfed with the characters of a series.
I am from India and there is no reason I should feel this connected with the story of a Texan family but I do.
The way Mary falls back to George with calling him noisily "George" whenever anything starts going out of her hand especially with the kids.. she wouldn't be able to do that again
Yeah, this was a fictional story but is there anything more closer to reality?
Kudos to the makers of this series. Made me experience the life in Texas in the late 80s early 90s and let me see its kinda similar to the life I had in this time period here in India.
Sad that this jewel of a series is coming to an end. Thanks again to the makers.
That tore me man😢I love this show and now I will have an end show depression
Yep. I agree. Annie Potts is clearly bummed out and actually angered of the shows cancellation.(Google it)
I really hope to see her in the Georgie spin-off but it seems unlikely besides maybe a cameo
Seen big bang and Young Sheldon from the start. I must admid, I cried. George was such a great caracter. I never saw it coming. ❤
IT WAS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL! I cried over and over again
the actor for george senior did an amazing job
My favorite characters ended up being him and Georgie. Though you knew it was coming, this one hit hard. Adding to the sensation of loss is the fact that it is sad to see the show finish as it has.
Oh wow, had no idea how different the actor who plays George's voice is from George's. They got me on this one, I did not see it coming. My jaw hit the floor. Makes total sense to do it this way, just shocked me. lol
What I love about this show is that it's not just revolves around Sheldon. I just watched Georgie and Mandy's cut/compilation which even lasts and hour and a half. The way they shared screentime is great
Love the way they have kept all the stuff that was from the big bang theory brought to life to understand so much of Sheldon
Ty....you are a great actor so naturel in your role it was made for you ... ty.
I already know I am going to be bawling like a baby! I loved Big Bang Theory First and now I love Young Sheldon! This cannot come fast enough! I have rewatched young Sheldon about 8 times now in preparation!
George Cooper is going to go down in history as one of the best tv show dads. One of my favorite scenes is from The Big Bang Theory where they show Sheldon's videotape of him.Giving a coach pep talk speech in the locker room. I'll never forget the quote. He said "We're going to lose this one but that don't make you losers. You learn more about who you are and what you're made of from failure than success, maybe more, now give em hell!"
I have been anticipating this moment since the first episode.
I’ve never heard Lance Barber’s real voice before! He was my favorite character on the show, and I’m sure I will be crying watching the series finale.
I just watched it today and I’m so sad. I’m literally crying.
I think they should have kept this going for a couple more years. They were a great cast. I'm sorry it's over.
I guess he just got too grown up for the role!
i will be watching this Thursday!
It made me so, so sad. It reminded me that life is a great story with a sad ending. Sad, yet beautiful!
I just finished watching this episode, I cried 😢
Man played one of the best SitCom characters!!
I cried even though I've known for years (I watched tbbt) it was coming it still hurt because I grow to love his character
Love this show and all the cast! ❤
Reminds me of finding about my father’s passing from a heart attack in his sleep about 14 years ago!
We shed many tears of sadness.
Four days later and I’m still crying. I keep watching the episode over and over. It’s unreal. Even though we knew it was going to happen.
It's a tv show..it's not real
i am 71 and my dad died at 42 from a heart attack when i was 14 and this episode hit me like a freight train
Lance Barber was a true Dad figure throughout the show. RIP George Sheldon, Sr. It's the perfect way to end the show as the next chapter begins with character we will enjoy!
Lance Barber was excellent in this role. One of the best and most believable tv dads ever. Damn good actor. He was such a bastard to Lisa Kudrow in "The Comeback" and then Leonard's grown up high school bully on "Big Bang" so I never would've expected him to play such a sympathetic and ultimately endearing character.
