- UPDATE: In August 2021 I moved out of this studio into one more than triple the size with 14 foot ceilings. Fortunately I intentionally designed the cabinets so they could go out the small door to take to the new studio. A video of my new studio is forthcoming.
I designed a custom paint cart and art storage for my new studio in Palm Springs. I share my detailed drawings and give advice on how to build them.
I also talk about foam floor padding, wall color, and more.
Correction: I used 3/4 inch plywood, not 1/2 inch as I say in the video. (sorry, I'm so nervous when I'm filmed!)

Ahhh a paint cart of my dreams! Where all the paints are in view and easy access. Perfection! You are a great designer as well as painter! And I totally understand needing to have all background white to make the paint colors be true and not affected by background colors. It makes so much sense to me. I love your studios, very inspiring! Right now, I work on my dining room table ~ 2/3'ds of the table is set up for painting leaving a 3rd for practical everyday needs. Lol! And I have my most used paints lined up just behind my paper palette with my other paints sitting just behind them in an open square basket and and enclosed see through carrying case. That way everything is in view and I can easily and quickly change up my paints. In my small wee little makeshift studio I need to see and access everything in order to be my best functional self, too. Lol! Once again, thank you for sharing how you set up your environment for beautiful art!
Sounds like you have a great passion for painting and have made the best set up you can and no doubt it will evolve over time. Thanks for sharing and keep at it.
Love the paint cart. I have several carts I’ve built myself that hold all of my paints etc. I have a revolving spice rack that I drilled large holes in that keeps my brushes. It was a five dollar find at the goodwill. It’s very useful. Thanks for sharing your art and studio!

Chase, I just came across your videos and boy I wish I’d seen this studio advice a month ago. I have been struggling to organize my studio and now I know how I want to change up some of it! Your work is stunning BTW

I find myself building alot of of stuff like this for my studio too. One of the most handy tools is a 20v battery 16 gauge dewault finishing nail/brad gun. It works great if you make your own frames or panels too.
wow, that's a lot to do. I have all my canvases stretched for me or panels made. If I did them they'd be pretty bad. lol

i just wear old clothes that get caked with paint.
OOOOO what a yummy bunch of posts. So much information. Thanks for taking the time. I DO have a question regarding light. Mark Carder (DrawMixPaint) has a black studio and all black or dark furniture, etc. to avoid reflection and light play in his studio. He wants his work to be uneffected by all the surfaces in the studio. How do you justify your choice of white or near white?

@@ChaseLangfordArtist me too. Just painted the basement floor pure white (walls and ceilings already were, but the concrete floor had to cure first). Makes such a difference. Love your studio and how thoughtfully you arranged everything. Thank you for sharing Chase.

Chase, how come, your ceilings seem way more than 8'? I have 8' ceilings and it's like they're falling on my nose. I'm almost 6' myself. Sigh. Can't build up or add skylights, like you did, because it's a walk out basement with windows. Anyway, really enjoyed all three videos about your studio. Thanks!
Yeah, they look higher in the video but they are exactly 8 feet.
Update!!! your question made me measure the ceiling height --- You are right!! They are 8 feet and 4 1/2 inches. So a little bit more.... ;-)

Winton black is really troublesome, crack all the time particularly if painted over white. I wonder how you handle that, Chase, or anyone? Anyway, painter like Chase should not use Winton anymore, it is student grade :)
I've never had that problem. I use different grades depending on what I'm doing and needing. I've been painting in oils for 30 years and even have notes on brands and grades to keep track of how they perform. It's really not your place to tell me what paints I should use. I hope you figure out your cracking problem.
@@ChaseLangfordArtist It was by intention that I said something unusual like the paint grade, just to attract your attention :) I agree with you, lower grades are useful to figure out the composition on early stage. @@ChaseLangfordArtist - HD video. I can clearly read all the measurements of the furnitures.
@Garry Akehurst - When videos look blurred or pixelated, it's just the connection or servers. They use the TCP techno (streaming) so there's a buffering time : it pre-loads several seconds or minutes in order for the watcher to see a continuous video. When it can't, it launches a pixelated/raw image instead of pausing the video.
High demand, low bandwidth (server or client side) can lead to this issue. Try to reload after few seconds.
Also, on your computer, try to empty you RAM.
