I needed to soundproof my massage therapy studio so I contacted a company in Erie, PA to purchase their wall foam. But the sales person gave me a money saving tip that I've used for 20 years. He said to look at the opening around your door when it's closed; if you see light, then sound can come in also. Place weatherstripping and a door sweep and you're good to go. Really deadens the sound.
Hello Chuck. You went to great lengths to make your room cater to your needs and you did an amazing job. Clean, tidy, and structured. I hope it helps you to enjoy it more. I transformed my 2nd bedroom into a bedroom/study. I still have some shelving to put on the walls. So I know how important it is to feel content and inspired. It's amazing how changing your environment changes you. Great job. ❤
The difference is day and night from what it was in the beginning. 1.8 k is not a lot considering what you have achieved. Well done and well deserved. Stay blessed and keep producing awesome art.
I love your new studio. Everything has its perfect place. I can only imagine all the beautiful masterpieces the world can enjoy that will come out of your new studio. Thank you for sharing with us.
Yes, today everything is in its right place...... We'll see in the future... That's how I started, today I don't know where the door to exit is... Good luck
The podium as a palette is genius! Portable & adjustable, plus there’s room to store brushes and paint. Definitely going on my art wishlist. Thanks for sharing!
GLENN IN LOUISIANA, AGAIN CHUCK: I literally cried when I saw this wonderful video of you long deserved studio. Weird seeing you rip out the things i watched you install over the years. From day one, you have been my teacher. I went from learning what a Princeton Dagger could do, to how to use Golden Open, to painting complex landscapes, all with two teachers: My mom when I was a kid, and you since I was 65. I’m 77 now, my last painting sold for 3K. I don’t make that regularly but it happened. I love painting and acrylics is what I staid with due to air quality in my stuffy studio. You have motivated me to renovate but I have to go slow, getting old. IT IS TRUE THAT YOU ALONE MOVED ME FROM AN INVALID UNABLE TO DO MUCH INTO A FULL FUNCTIONING PAINTER. I will have a website in this year and will show you. I praise you for such dedicated work, such craftsmanship and skill in building. I love the easel, the palette desk, and the long table. You have very beautifully transformed the space,it really reflects you. Space like this make you never leave it or you never know when time flies ,it really makes your thoughts and imagination come to life on the canvas .I really enjoyed watching this video .❤❤
Having a space dedicated to art would be a dream! Thanks so much for sharing your work. We all can get inspired and apply what we can to our own spaces. Yours turned out amazing.
It will be amazing for you Chuck. Well deserved. My husband bought me office desk furniture for my studio don’t have the guts to tell him it’s not that functional 😬. Hope you enjoy your studio for years to come.
Absolutely fabulous! Thank you so much for sharing the video and the information on costs. It IS important to have a functioning work space that reflects who you are and encourages that creative spirit and for your comfort. Enjoy!
👋Hi Chuck, it's a perfect working space, beautiful appearance, bright, organized and good for one's mental health. Plus you've done an outstanding job on do-it-yourself. Wonderful ! Happy Easter, and have a nice week.👍💖
Looks amazing! I also added track lights to my space, but the shadows the lights cast drive me bonkers so I still use my easel light. I’m going to have to get the fabric to cover my lights, that might help me. Thanks for posting this!
Thanks for sharing that makeover. I am in a creative/ motivational funk and this has inspired me to reorganize my painting area, clean it up and get back on track!
I really love what you've done. It really looks like some place you really want to be and I can even feel the creative energy that you're ready to manifest. Well done!
Wow, Chuck, that is an incredible transformation, and not bad for total end cost. I have a plain and simple studio. I've been watching your vids for a long time now and i must say I really like what you've done 👍
I absolutely love this well-deserved makeover, however, at the 9:16 point, my heart skipped a beat. I worry that the defuser fabric could catch on fire from the heat of the bulb. I'm sure you know what you are doing though. Enjoy your new space.
What a great job you did with your studio. I just came across your video. You are very handy and your studio is so beautifully organized . Enjoy it! Well deserved.
I'd never heard of using gray/green for a studio before (that could make an interesting video), but I love the idea! Also, the use of the crate for a paint rack is genius!
Outstanding transformation, Chuck!!! The colour on the walls is perfect. In the house I had, before moving here with mom, to take care of her, I had a 20' x 16' studio, and I used a charcoal grey on the walls. It was very close to the grey-green you used. I did the ceiling in sky blue. There was space in it for three workspaces...and a sofa. Here, there isn't space for me to do a lot of work. It's very pleasing to see you've created a space that promotes your creativity!!!
Thanks for the comment, Mark! Really means a lot to me. Blue ceiling sounds really interesting. I hate the popcorn on mine, otherwise I might have tried painting it too, but didn't want to deal with it. Glad you enjoyed!
@@chuckblackart Actually, the popcorn on a ceiling isn't difficult to remove. A 12" wide drywall mud knife will usually scrape it off quite easily, then just sweep it up and to the trash with it. It would be a little bit of a hassle to do now, though, since you've already got the studio set up and going. Some cheap plastic drop cloths taped at the top of the walls and over the floor would be a good way to give it a go, if you ever wanted to do it. That way you could just gather them up and toss all of it at once. The grey-green walls, with a sky blue ceiling, could give an "in-the-forest" feel to your studio 😉
From how u spoke in the winter video I knew you were about to do a complete makeover u r taking everything that dosnt inspire u n making your space an area that dosnt hinder you yet has caught up with your many achievements n success..love it..❤❤
You did a great job Chuck!! I’m constantly moving my tiny space around to paint and for all my tools & paint. It’s my small apartment “dining” room which I keep expanding into my living room. I love how uncluttered your space is! 😉

Wow, the studio turned out amazing!! I am a firm believer in how much a very organized space can improve one’s work, and I am sure you will enjoy the new place very much!
This turned out great Chuck, you will enjoy the better organisation and workflow of this space better, I went through the same process a couple of years back, gives you a sense of pride in your space and work.🙌

Good job! It’s so nice to have a studio space that lifts our spirits when we go into it. And to reflect how we feel as a person. Love it that you’ve done this Chuck and I love that olive green wall colour. Spot on!
Hi Chuck, wow, what a transformation!!! I love it. I hope you enjoy working and relaxing in it. I love the wall colour. I'm a green person at the best of times, but that colour is sooo me!!
Well done! It's beautiful, dramatic and functional. I too have an entire room dedicated to my art studio, but no skills to re-build it on my own. But I'm not unhappy with what I have. I just need to work a bit more on cleaning out stuff I don't use anymore (I'm a crafter as well). Your new studio has inspired me to work in mine today!! What I need is a spot for photography - a light box, etc.
That is so nice! :) No one should feel ashamed to spend a good amount of money of making their room nicer, especially if the room is also your workspace. It is so understated how important it is to create an environment that supports who you are as a person and how you like to work or relax. It will inhibit your own creativeness and help you ward off stress factors and unwanted input. I strong urge everyone who spends a lot of time in a small space, to just make it nice and comfortable for you.
🙏Amazing transformation of your art studio, enjoy your new artistic studio environment & be inspired to do more creative artworks. Thanks for sharing 🙏👍👏😉❤️
Congratulations - you've worked hard for along time and deserve an inspiring place to paint ... nice job and I hope your really enjoy all that work you put into the space. Thank you for sharing the entire renovation and including the pricing.
Thank you for sharing your new studio with all of us! It looks so cozy and inviting. I love your new rug too. Would you mind sharing wear you purchased your rug?
Chuck, I love what you did with your room. I’ve been thinking about redoing my art space and you’ve given me a lot of really great ideas. I especially liked your fix for the glare on your paintings from the lighting. I also really liked how you made yourself your own box for your paintings to dry. I have a hard time with that. Thank you for all the great ideas and showing me that it’s actually financially feasible for me to be able to do that.❤
Good for you ❤🍾 on taking care of yourself. Look fantastic and serene. You did an incredible job. under 2grand 😯👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 that’s amazing Thank you for sharing 🌹🙏
well-planned and executed! As a fellow artist, I know how important it is to have a space you can create in. My favorites are the wall easel and the adjustable track lighting. Wait! You got married? Congratulations on that too! I wish you many years of happiness and companionship. Turned out great! 👍I recommend adding a plant to your studio (real or fake). I recently bought a 4' tall fake plant for my studio and it makes the space more inviting.
This space is amazing! I love what you did with the colors/lighting. I also can't help but feel a bit of nostalgia thinking about all the magic you created on canvas in the old space as well! Wish you all the best in your 'new' studio 😊
Great video! I'm envious. Wow! What a beautiful place to go to work in! Looks like you have thought very long and hard over the design and details. Love that adjustable palette platform design! Well done Chuck, your hard work has paid off and an artist of your skill deserves the very best! One question if I may:- How do you settle on a particular light strength to illuminate your canvas correctly?
Thank you Pip! Great question, it's something I need to play with all the time. I think testing out different strengths through the years has given me a good idea of what I personally like to use, but even then I still question it. It's why I also like the diffuser fabric because the more I add the more it changes the strength. I couldn't find dimmable ones I liked so I'm stuck with that. Thankfully these lights do not get hot on the front end so no worries about adding that to them
There is nothing better than a studio that makes you feel good. I had a decent studio that burned down last year. I am hoping to start new soon. I too will be making the space very appealing, as my clients will be seeing the space too. I think you spent good money to transform your room into something to be proud of! Great job!
Love this! Thanks you for showing this... I am a painter (Both commercial/industrial painter and an artist first, [was a designer illustrator for over twenty years]) I can tell you that you should have sprung for a 4" brush to cut in with, it's the same price as the one you bought practically, covers better and flows further. Buying a pole arm for the roller is a must, even if it is just a stick. It allows you to stand away from the wall and go top to bottom with little effort, making the whole flow of the paint wet to wet with no overlapping of semi dried paint. Over the years I have made for myself a workshop, something I consider essential as an artist, I watch tons of videos about woodworking, and make all my own equipment, from Edsel to panels. I would urge you to begin acquiring some better tools, start first with a power drill set. Then get a nice compound miter saw. These two things will vastly open up possibilities and cut your work time for projects.
Thanks Chris! It was what we had on hand so I said good enough! Even returned the new power saw and said old handsaw will do it 😅 I love my drill though it's been a game-changer for sure, I originally bought it for ice fishing. Thanks for the tips

There is nothing better than a studio that makes you feel good. I had a decent studio that burned down last year. I am hoping to start new soon. I too will be making the space very appealing, as my clients will be seeing the space too.
I think you spent good money to transform your room into something to be proud of! Great job!
Good luck with your new studio. Thank you I appreciate it!
Good luck with your new studio❤
This was really satisfying to watch! I love the transformation.
Beautiful workspace, just like your artwork! I can watch you paint all day 😊
Looks nice! I went with a similar wall color when I rebuilt my studio last year.
Wow, love your new studio. You've inspired me to improve mine.
