I don't even know my dad but, She's lucky to have a dad like you I wish you were my dad. I'm a girl and I've had to learn from watching your videos how to do things for myself so thank you
You are welcome, this is one of the nicest comments I ever received. Your words make it all worth doing. If you ever need help, just shoot us an email. Thanks for Watching.
It was recommended to put in the original Mopar Sending unit. The first aftermarket that I put in was defective. I returned it immediately. The second one worked and was iffy. It has begun to malfunction too. I just ordered an original Mopar unit and I will try that one now. Hopefully, that one will work properly and last a while longer. My pressure drops when I run my 97 Wrangler on the highway for awhile, and it will drop to zero after coming to a stop off the highway, signalling a check gauges light. Under cold and normal driving conditions, it stays at around 40. But, like your daughter's Jeep, my engine sounds perfect, even when the oil pressure gauge drops to zero. The reason that I changed it initally was because it started jumping around like crazy. The first replacement wouldn't hardly climb at all. The second aftermarket replacement climbed, but it has started malfunctioning too. Like you, I'm going to go with the Mopar replacment before I do anything else.
Good choice
Thank you for the video! Definately my problem and the correct fix. Did it myself and saved $200. Thank you
Glad we could help
Having the exact symptoms on my 97 TJ. I will be giving this repair a try soon. Thank you for the video.
Glad we could help
@@AxlesGarage Sorry that I forgot to update. This was the exact issue and this fix was the trick. Thank you! Stay safe.
Could not for the life of me find the fuckin thing. Thank you so much.
Excelente video mine is going up do you think that might be the cause?
High Pressure? Yes, cheap troubleshooting either way. Thanks for watching.
Hi there nice vid, i have a 97tj and change ops gage started working fine but after a couple of months the gage started to fluctuate, it drops at stop and rises when running? Got any suggestions to what it could be? Thanks and mice jeep just like my blk.
Need more info. Some fluctuation is normal. OP at cold idle? OP at cold 2500 rpm? OP at idle fully warmed up? OP at 2500rpm fully warmed up. Also what weight oil are you running? any additives in your oil?
FYI I had the same issue with 1998 TJ 4.0 when I replaced it with a cheap $13 sensor. I then changed out to the MOPAR sensor and it cured the problem $51! For some reason these TJ's work best with MOPAR sensors.
I'm still having issues, with that one and another. Might give the mopar sensor a try
@@AxlesGarage Got mine on Amazon, about $25 cheaper than my local Jeep dealer
Thanks
@@AxlesGarage Exactly, as I said. I just ordered the Mopar myself.
good video.. Thanks
Thanks for watching.
my jeep is opposite. It says im at 180 on start up and as engine warms up it doesnt change. Was fine one day and then the next It was at 180. The oil level is fine when checked and I mean its due for a change but for it to go to 180 just seems weird. Any ideas or do you think it could be this sending switch thing
180 on your Oil Pressure????
My gauge on my 2000 Wrangle can go from 20 to max of 80, even coasting. Can it be a bad sensor as well? Thanks.
Could be, only one way to know for sure, and its a cheap troubleshoot.
Hey Rob, What size lift and tire size on that TJ.
Tires are 33/12.50/15 on 8 inch wheels. Lift was on it when we bought it. It appears to be about 4 inches over stock, never measured it. No body lift, just suspension. Previous owner stated it was a 'Zone' Brand lift. It has a great ride. Thanks for watching.
Looping around on this one - does the sender unit continue to work as it should? I've replaced my sending unit in a 97 wrangler three times with cheaper units.
It seems to work well only after an oil change. Then about 1K miles in its starts to read low until I change the oil again.
The stealership near me in Cali wanted $140 dollars for an original Mopar unit. I'm not having that for a made in China product. I found an original Mopar unit from a Chrysler store, and we'll see if it comes in the original Mopar plastic package. If not, it goes back.
my jeep is leaking oil right where that 90 degree nipple is going into the block, i cant tighten it with the sending switch on cuz it bumps into the AC bracket. Any advice?
Sounds like you'll have to remove the sending switch, take out the nipple, clean and re-install with thread sealer, then put switch back.
Have you ever had an oil leak by the ignition coil bracket? And wet the starer full of oil
Not on the Jeeps. Did have a leak on a Chevy that soaked the starter with oil and eventually ruined it. Thanks for watching.
I just changed mine, All I had to do was swing the dist cap out of the way & I was able to slide the socket right on with 12in exstension
Thanks for Watching>
Did u put any Teflon tape on new unit?
yes
You didn't say anything about the results. Did that fix the problem?
Not really, it got better, but not what I would call fixed. I have 2 Jeeps, both do the same thing. I believe it's a combination of oil sludge in the housing that holds the sender and old gauges that don't read accurately.
did it fix it?
Yes it did. I forgot to update this one. Thanks for watching.
On the 4.0 it’s right above the filter. Much easier to get to
Yes, thanks for the added info.
Should add shots of you actually taking it off and replacing and of the final result if it worked or not. Other than that loved it and subscribed brother. Thanks for the vid
Yep, you're right. Sometimes I skip over some stuff that I think are easy, but often that stuff helps people. Getting better as I go. Thanks for watching.
Seems like every tj I have seen under it's hood doesn't have an air conditioning compressor.
I had one, LOL

One!
W O W . . . You could have started This at 4:55 and stopped it at 6:00 and that would have been OK..!!!
Yes, I talk a lot. Thanks for watching.
Talk all you want friend. that was a great video thanks. @@AxlesGarage
Les talking and show how the wire disconnects. Didn't say if it fixed it
Thanks for watching
So.... don’t put the results just talk?
Yes that clip was missed in the video. Worked for a short time 3-months, then back to the same old.
Two mins in and...nothing.
Welcome to the Channel, we talk a lot. Thanks for watching
we don't need the family history or the jeep history!!
It's a bit more than just a how to video. Welcome to the channel.
Jim, why make a comment like that? Axle, great vid, trying this fix soon
Didn't show you doing anything was a waste of my time watching
Thanks for wasting time.
Talk wayyy too much
Yes, we do that here
@@AxlesGarage took me 3 minutes to change out after I stopped your video and found another that got to point. Not that it's difficult at all. But you were making it into an be all day event.
