Bad oil pressure sensor on a Jeep Cherokee

- I think any Jeep owner is capable of changing the oil pressure sensor on a Jeep Cherokee. I heard the engine knocking on my 1993 Jeep Cherokee v6 4.0 liter the other day. When I checked the oil and it wasn't even touching the dipstick. I filled the oil and started looking for the leak. I noticed a drip from the oil pressure sensor. This is an easy repair that any Cherokee owner can handle.
The video is clear and thoroughly explained. Great.
Got a 93 for my son , just put new radiator , thermostate, alternator, then head gasket . Now a oil pressure switch. thanks
Just bought a 94 I’ve done the valve gaskets new radiator the starter and I’m about to start this 😂😂good luck bro
Bingo! Kudos! Great video! The exact same thing just happened to my 1996 Cherokee Sport 6 cyl 4.0L HO. By the way the location is the same on all Jeep 6 cyl 4.0L engines. Again, Kudos, spot-on perfect video. Nobody has that boxend wrench. We all use an adjustable wrench! You nailed it every step of the way. Thank you!
Thanks a lot, brother! I truly appreciate the feedback. I'm glad you liked what I put together.
ive never done it before but need to now and your instructions were great!!! Thanks!!!
I'm glad I could help!
I hate that call from my daughter calks me with " something wrong with the car "
Me too!
Same spot in a 97.. However mine has two electrical pins. Just broke mine trying to get the oil filter out, so off to NAPA.. My Jeep is a meat wagon as well.
I was having an issue that seems to be a blown head gasket on my 98 and while I was running it to diagnose that, smoke started to come up from below the intake manifold. I noticed that it was coming from the downpipe and there was a big puddle of oil in the grass. I didn’t look to see where it was coming minus seeing it dripping from the bellhousing (so also a possible RMS), but hopefully it’s not the said rear main seal. I need to see.
Thanks
👍 Told me exactly what I needed to know. Need more videos like this one. 😊
Thank you for your kind comment!
I have a 1998 jeep Cherokee it have the oil sensor at the same place
I literally found where my leak was coming fro. When the car was on. While the jeep was undwr pressure. It was coming out of this exact sensor. Im going to replace it today and check if their are anymore tapping. Becuase i changed the oil recently and the oil level is a little higher than 40lbs but never overheats and never lower pressure.. just leaks from the sending unit.
My oil pressure gauge on my 1991 cherokee is not working. I suspect this very specific piece is either not working properly or damaged.
Have you noticed anything on the reading when that happened?
Did you have to reset the computer to get the oil gauge to work in the gauge cluster? After replacing mine, the oil pressure gauge stays maxed out as far as the dial can go
Pudiste solucionarlo? Gracias
My oil pressure connector latch or fastener is broken and i cant find the replacement anywhere . Thanks I have a 92 xj
Junkyard. Go all autozone advance.
amazing video, i just have a quick question, i bought a oil pressure sensor for my 1996 jeep cherokee xj, and i noticed it has 2 little studs inside the connecor parr, i noticed yours has one, will mine work, please let me know before i get the job done, world appreciate it. you think i should change the hose too, thanks and god loves you too brother :)
It's hard for me to tell without seeing it. If it looks like it will match up and the parts place said it will work, then it should. Although I have gotten the wrong part more than once. Lol Let me know how it goes! It's always a good idea to change out a hose or belt when you are working on something connected to them if you have the time and money to. That way, you don't have to do the same work all over again when the hose goes later.
@@TheHunterGatherer exactly, usually a oil leak could be from the hoses too, so might as well change both. i ordered my oil pressure sensor fro ebau, mine has 2 stds in the connector, i just spoke to a local car pasrts store, the gentleman asked me if i have a gage on the dash, i said yes , so he said my 2 studded connector should work. i hope so, since they changes the models fro 84-96 and then 97-01. your video is very clear and transparent and well details, and your xj is a 93, so thanks and will let you know bud :)
I have a 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee!!!
The rear main seal is going out
And also this mota is way cleaner than mine!!🤣🤣🤣
👍👍👍
I'll be damned, this is EXACTLY what mine is doing. Annoying, but it's kind of nice to have something cheap and easy to fix.
Gotta love the cheap and easy fixes!
Mine was 18 dollars at Autozone!
How unchanged you wanna know 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee. What about 167000 miles? I got my Inn from autozone for about $25. It's their brand put the all price about the same ever take couple dollars
Goodness just get to the point. Change the part we don’t care about your whole story..
