    Excellent analysis, same happened here and all the thoughts of my 2004 Jeep going to pot! I was in mid ride too and had to do the field diagnostic which told me keep going. Thank you for the work in the vid!

      @@DarrylSheather Not finally. At cooler temps and shorter rides where the oil seems to have maintained viscosity, the gauge shows good oil pressure so, it seems well for now. Will consider another weighted oil for engines with over 110000 miles.

    Great vid. Come through for me twice in last month. My daughter sent me video of her 04 TJ while at idle oil gauge dropped and check gauges alarm pops up. Rev in some and pressure comes up, etc. Going to order the Mopar part and start there. Will follow up.

    My 97 has gone through several sensors over the years. I quit replacing them. It must be something electral going on.

    Mine does this and I replaced tge sending unit and it seemed good but on the road it did it again. So I'm taking it in to get checked. I'm thinking it's most likely electrical related.

    Thanks for the video. You have given me a direction to travel. Exact issues here. Box cutters are good enough as if you break the blade you just replace it.

    It's your boil pressure sensor. Mine did exactly same thing when I bought myb2003 tj. Part was 7 dollars. Then a year later had same issue repalcenoil preasure again. Reason I keep replacing the oil preasure sensor . Is 2003 and up tj run hot and burn the sensors up. I put insulation on this and the crank shaft postion sensore as it was replaced twice as well for same issue. They are very close to each otlf them. Since irreplaceable oil preasure sensor and cranknpostion sensor with insulation to jlkeepnthe heat down on them no issues.

    I just picked up a 95 YJ wrangler. 2.5 with the 4 cylinder. It doesn’t go low at all but when you step on the gas the pressure goes to like 80 or so and it doesn’t seem to drop below 30ish when just idles .

    • @DarrylSheather

      I think they have.a real pressure gauge, so what you describe is totally normal.

      @@DarrylSheather hey there, my old 98 TJ oil pressure drops by 1 bar / marker at idling. ... plan to sell next week as it happens, could it just be needing an oil change - been sitting for a year or too. Just did 300 miles, was fine

    Squirt wd-40 in the hole the pressure switch came from also put wd-40 into the switch opening. Junk gets in there and messes up switch

    Be sure and get some insulation to cover sending unit to combat the heat or you will be replacing it again in summer when running ac. If temp gets up over 210 degrees it will start to cook that sensor

    • @warnerherndon205
      @warnerherndon205 3 месяца назад

      What do you use to insulate it? I think I need to change mine. Thanks in advance

    • @spencerwarren9219
      @spencerwarren9219 3 месяца назад

      @@warnerherndon205 they sale a silver wrap with velcro on Amazon. It isn't much and some autozone carry it also. This has been a issue with all 4.0 tj. Also heat can creat fuel fume lock in injectors and make it idel bad for a little if engine gets hot and you turn it off then start it back up. It's just fuel vapor in injectors inst3ad of fuel. Due to heat burns up the fuel in injector. Doesn't hurt anything just runs like crap for about 45 sec till you get fuel back in injector. Usually happens around 210 temp or above.

    I have a 04 Grand Cherokee with oil pressure gauge issues. Replace the sensor and the wire harness.. still no improvement. Any advise?

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  3 года назад +1

      I’d be getting the oil pressure tested with a mechanical gauge so you can at least rule engine issues out. FWIW I had further issues after this video, removed the ecu connectors and sprayed with electrical contact cleaner haven’t had an issue since.

    My oil pressire gauge stopped working so i changed this part. Now when i crank the vehicle it still doesn't work on the first crank but oddly enough if i shut off the engine then restart the engine then starts working properly every single time.

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  2 года назад

      Did you fix that? I’d be doing a oil pressure test with a proper test gauge before going further

    Recently replaced the battery temperature sensor when the P0516 code came up on my '05 Jeep Wrangler TJ cluster. Oddly enough, it doesn't come up on my scanner. This is a first! And when I go in reverse to get parked in my driveway over a very small bump, the check guages light comes on.
    Also have a new alternator and battery with the battery reading 12.6 when sitting which is perfect. However, the voltage only reads 13.6 after I start it up, when most TJ forums say it should read between 14.2 - 14.7
    Any idea of what is causing these things and how I can correct them??

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  Год назад

      From memory the ECU uses battery temp to determine charge rate. I'd be checking out your connections etc of the battery temp sensor. else replace it with the old one to see if that makes any differences. Maybe it's a faulty new sensor?

    • @JeepTJWheelin
      @JeepTJWheelin Год назад

      @@DarrylSheather The check guages light was from a worn out oil pressure sending unit sensor, replaced and works as it should. Getting mixed views from mechanics in my area who say 13.6 is perfectly acceptable while others seem to lean towards 14.2 - 14.7 after the engine is turned over. She starts right up most mornings, but occasionally will have a slight hesitation, peculiar. And had the local garage run a code diagnostic on their much more expensive scanner than what I have. The P0516 came up on theirs, it was cleared, and yet after doing the 3 key ignition turn check, it's still there. Very puzzling to say the least. Connections were checked and everything looks good. I'm thinking the pcu is faulty. I really like these TJ's but miss the absence of computers from the CJ-7.

    My car oil pressure light come on at a low rpm for example when I am slowing down or at a complete stop. The oil pressure light turn off at a higher rpm like 2200 rpm for example when accelerating. Do you know what could be the problem, I already change the oil pressure switch & the oil in the engine is full.

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  4 года назад +1

      Have a go at disconnecting the loom from the ECU and spraying the connectors with contact cleaner.

      Darryl Sheather okay👌, can this cause a serious problem to the engine??

    • @DarrylSheather
      @DarrylSheather  4 года назад +1

      @@habeeb590 yes, if you have low oil pressure the engine can spin a bearing or seize. You need to work through the issue. Best way is to get an all pressure gauge reading straight off the block by a mechanic to see if its mechanical or an electrical issue. Best of luck with it all.
