How is this considered as advanced?!!! Its damn well very very easy to grow & carpet without much fertilizer or co2 at all.

Love this plant, super versatile. Under high light with CO2 it can be trained into a carpet, with lower light and no CO2 it grows as a nice stem plant. I've attached it to lava rock and driftwood as well.

One of my goals as a dog groomer is to be able to use my scissoring expertise on a plant like this one! 😁 I really love this plant and I thank you for the showcase. Now I'm ready to research and learn some more!!! I hope you have an amazing day!👍🐟🌱🌿🙏

Hmm... I now understand why Tropica classifies it as “advanced”. It doesn’t grow as well in low tech as expected, certainly not like a “weed”. Perhaps it’s the high temperatures in my tank.

Real Hemianthus micranthemoides does not exist within the trade and is most likely extinct as it has not been seen in the wild since 1941. What you are selling under the name Hemianthus micranthemoides is either Hemianthus Glomeratus or Hemianthus sp. "Amano Pearl Grass". They are different species with different characteristics, so the distinction is important.
This also might explain peoples confusion of your 'advanced' category listing for this plant. Hemianthus sp. "Amano Pearl Grass" is easier to grow than Hemianthus Glomeratus.

No. This is NOT Hemianthus micranthemoides. The real micranthemoides is a plant of fresh water tidal rivers of the northeast and has not been seen since 1941. It differs by floral characteristics from Hemianthus glomeratus, which is what the plant in the hobby really is and is still common in Florida today.

Interesting. We would like to look into it. Do you happen to have material depicting what is referred to as "the real micranthemoides"? Thank you in advance!

@@TropicaAquariumPlants Please see here for a conservation report on the status of micranthemoides:
      explorer.natureserve.org/Taxon/ELEMENT_GLOBAL.2.130713/Micranthemum_micranthemoides
Here is a report I wrote that includes closeup photos of herbarium specimens:
      www.aquaticplantcentral.com/forumapc/plantfinder/details.php?id=33&category=genus&spec=Hemianthus
There is no doubt that the plant we grow in the hobby is glomeratus. There is some doubt as to what genus it belongs, but I think additional genetic testing of more Hemianthus and Micranthemum species would help (the differences between the two genera are very small).
Note that there is also a plant being circulated (not commercially) that is more upright and always has opposite leaves and never in whorls. Its identity and origin are unknown but it's definitely not micranthemoides either.
