@@keenan9084 no it wasn't. It just had the unfortunate reality of having to follow BL2, which has one of the best game storylines ever written. Did it meet that mark? Nah. But it wasn't a flop, the gameplay improvements more than make up for the story not being just as good as BL2. The BL3 story is about the dangers of populism and when you view it in that lens it becomes a lot better even for what it is.

I feel the best bet for this game based of what we see is that Lilith must have sent that moon. Far away from anything they know so it would make no sense to see returning characters, also this planet has a cloaking shield it looks peaceful and advanced from the few shots we see of it. So the potential that we may be getting a whole new world, characters,guns etc in a world that was once peacefully now invaded by psychos will be fun to see. With this factor aswell though our characters won't be run and gun vault hunters who had to learn on pandora it's kill or be killed. These people may be more civil and more open to syealthyer options at time and would make it nice to see stealth mechanics. It would make a skill like zer0's invis alot handyer, however that may not align with what a borderlands game is tbh but would be cool, and this is all speculative theory

Yeah, with borderlands 3 we got only 4 instead of 6 because according to Randy, players hate picking characters. So it makes full sense to now have only 1.
or it could be like tiny tina. were you can multiclass. you could chose a character specific skill but then use skills from all previous vault hunters ( that are no siren, siren should be specific for only one of the options). that way you could be a siren as well as a hunter, soldier or berserk.

Even the trails are a direct downgrade from something like digistruct peak. If the combat and guns didn’t feel so good to use, the gameplay would be a downgrade in every way.

I enjoy the trials many times more than digistruct, digistruct was ass and so are OP levels, mayhem 11 supremacy hell I'll even add a point 5. not having to play through the damn story 3 times before you can get to max level is a gift from God himself
The Borderlands movie bombed so hard that not only are they releasing it for home media the same month it hit theaters, but they had to announce a new game too.
I literally have lower expectations for this game then I ever had for the movie. BL3's main story and character writing was 95% trash. And the villain was the only character in Wonderlands that didn't make me envy the deff and blind.

@uncaringdisc24 I hated the multiple vaults and the vault keys. They were supposed to be very very rare to the point of myth. Like in 2, the idea of a vault key was unheard of and when they found out, everyone was shocked. Then 3 comes along and it's common knowledge and almost all the corporations have one. Didn't make sense. That and how common Legendaries were. Just so dumb.

My take is that had the movie somehow succeeded, they would've stretched box office/release sales, and this would have been an hour-in announcement at the game awards in December. Then have it out in 26. Give the franchise time enjoy a spike in sales for interested newcomers, etc. Now it's just w/e, they're probably gonna hate it, let's get it out the door. Plus, there's that trend of 6-month "polish" delays, so who knows lol.

Borderlands, throughout the whole series, was a game that I played for hundreds hours with my best friend of 24 years. After he died 2 years ago, I couldn't fathom playing again until this last weekend. Starting from 1 and working through them with another friend. I'm making progess in game, and internally. This drop couldn't have happened at an odder time. I really hope it's good. I need it to be.
Sorry for your loss man. I found a more fun and interesting way to replay these games nowadays. Since my attention span aint what it used to be. I find it way more fun to replay each game 1 difficulty at a time. BL1, complete first difficulty, move on to BL2. Complete first difficulty, move on to pre-sequel.. etc. Then when all games are complete once, go back to your save file on BL1 and play difficulty 2. That way the games don't get stale. Keeps things fresh. Maybe playing the games slightly differently, like this, might give Borderlands a new light for your new memories you're making with your new co-op partner.
Sorry for your loss vault hunter. I'm sure it hasn't been an easy trek back to this point. Just don't get your hopes up too high and definitely don't pre order.

Lol, ALL Borderlands-related jokes aside, I'd like to express my HEART-FELT thoughts about the VG series as a WHOLE in anticipation of the 4th Borderlands debuting! I've been a Borderlands fan since the 1st game debuted in late 2009, RIGHT when I was first starting my freshman year in high school, and it got me through A LOT of hard, tricky times! The 2nd Borderlands debuted a few years later in late 2012, and it BROKE THE MOLD for FPS games, and brought the series, AS A WHOLE, into the mainstream of GREATER, LARGER Heights of Success!!! There was NO GREATER JOY to be a Borderlands fan than at THAT moment, where a cult classic like Borderlands 1 became a VG HOUSEHOLD NAME with the APEX OF GAMING that IS Borderlands 2!!! Then, we have the Pre-Sequel, and other spin-offs that continued the series' amazingness!!! Finally, we have Borderlands 3, which admittedly had some parts of it lacking that made the previous entries household names, mainly a solid story and the way certain characters were handled, BUT the gameplay was still good nonetheless! Now, yes, Gearbox is in a VERY touch-and-go spot with how to go about building the next entry into the series, and depending on how it's handled, will MAKE or BREAK the series, BUT, I have FAITH that they can bounce back from the brink of uncertainty, and give us fans a GREAT conclusion to an AMAZING series!!!

Let me just say opening you're wallet may not be the smartest idea with the new blue hairs and boneheads Gearbox has hired into the already very questionable writting team. Makes you want to pull your hair out seeing the choices they make. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Hope they add more aspects in this one.....weapon part drops...armour sets.....crafting recipes.....dual wielding guns with any class ....crazier weapons....so forth lol.....especially gun parts dropping so you can take it to a crafting bench and reasemble guns with parts you find and make your own guns thru crafting and gun piece drops also have there own rarity. Truly open world not just enclosed areas....also the ability while crafting to change material types such as metals woods glass etc and the ability with weapon piece drops such as hairtriggers, barrels,ammo types extended mags, scopes stocks, gun chambers full auto,single shot, also being able to change barrel and ammo typed you could have revolvers that takes shotgun shells and shotguns that take pistol ammo. Maybe even the ability to name your own unique gun brand and gun that you craft yourself finding salvaged/part drops...actually even a better idea being able to start your own gun shop abit like an auction house to put up your own crafted/found guns to sell on the market so other players can see it.
Yeah I really hope it has a better story, and more so level design, also i'm not sure how I feel about the black outlines from the artsyyle being removed maybe

I feel the best bet for this game based of what we see is that Lilith must have sent that moon. Far away from anything they know so it would make no sense to see returning characters, also this planet has a cloaking shield it looks peaceful and advanced from the few shots we see of it. So the potential that we may be getting a whole new world, characters,guns etc in a world that was once peacefully now invaded by psychos will be fun to see. With this factor aswell though our characters won't be run and gun vault hunters who had to learn on pandora it's kill or be killed. These people may be more civil and more open to syealthyer options at time and would make it nice to see stealth mechanics. It would make a skill like zer0's invis alot handyer, however that may not align with what a borderlands game is tbh but would be cool, and this is all speculative theory
All you guys need to do is give us BL2 Story/Loot Pool with BL3 Mechanics and you got yourself a happy community.

Like in 2, the idea of a vault key was unheard of and when they found out, everyone was shocked. Then 3 comes along and it's common knowledge and almost all the corporations have one. Borderlands, throughout the whole series, was a game that I played for hundreds hours with my best friend of 24 years. After he died 2 years ago, I couldn't fathom playing again until this last weekend. Starting from 1 and working through them with another friend. I'm making progess in game, and internally. This drop couldn't have happened at an odder time. I really hope it's good. I need it to be.

I found a more fun and interesting way to replay these games nowadays. Since my attention span aint what it used to be. I find it way more fun to replay each game 1 difficulty at a time. BL1, complete first difficulty, move on to BL2. Complete first difficulty, move on to pre-sequel.. etc. Then when all games are complete once, go back to your save file on BL1 and play difficulty 2. That way the games don't get stale. Keeps things fresh. Maybe playing the games slightly differently, like this, might give Borderlands a new light for your new memories you're making with your new co-op partner.
Sorry for your loss vault hunter. I'm sure it hasn't been an easy trek back to this point. Just don't get your hopes up too high and definitely don't pre order.

Lol, ALL Borderlands-related jokes aside, I'd like to express my HEART-FELT thoughts about the VG series as a WHOLE in anticipation of the 4th Borderlands debuting! I've been a Borderlands fan since the 1st game debuted in late 2009, RIGHT when I was first starting my freshman year in high school, and it got me through A LOT of hard, tricky times! The 2nd Borderlands debuted a few years later in late 2012, and it BROKE THE MOLD for FPS games, and brought the series, AS A WHOLE, into the mainstream of GREATER, LARGER Heights of Success!!! There was NO GREATER JOY to be a Borderlands fan than at THAT moment, where a cult classic like Borderlands 1 became a VG HOUSEHOLD NAME with the APEX OF GAMING that IS Borderlands 2!!! Then, we have the Pre-Sequel, and other spin-offs that continued the series' amazingness!!! Finally, we have Borderlands 3, which admittedly had some parts of it lacking that made the previous entries household names, mainly a solid story and the way certain characters were handled, BUT the gameplay was still good nonetheless! Now, yes, Gearbox is in a VERY touch-and-go spot with how to go about building the next entry into the series, and depending on how it's handled, will MAKE or BREAK the series, BUT, I have FAITH that they can bounce back from the brink of uncertainty, and give us fans a GREAT conclusion to an AMAZING series!!!

Truly open world not just enclosed areas....also the ability while crafting to change material types such as metals woods glass etc and the ability with weapon piece drops such as hairtriggers, barrels,ammo types extended mags, scopes stocks, gun chambers full auto,single shot, also being able to change barrel and ammo typed you could have revolvers that takes shotgun shells and shotguns that take pistol ammo.
Maybe even the ability to name your own unique gun brand and gun that you craft yourself finding salvaged/part drops...actually even a better idea being able to start your own gun shop abit like an auction house to put up your own crafted/found guns to sell on the market so other players can see it.

That would be awesome but so far it seems Gearbox wants to forget about that game and everything to do with it. I have my fingers crossed though cause with this video it seems the best time to do something with that storyline.

-Tiny Tinas Wonderlands > We were disappointed
-New Tales from the Borderlands > Was an annoyance
-The movie (not your fault ik) > Made everyone snapping it in pure frustration
Just take your time, do it right, for quality content we can be patient, give us the vibes you managed to spread with part 1-3 plus the first Tales game.

gameplay in 3 was solid, still fun to this day. only mistake they made was the story. just all of the story was a dumpster fire. but the gameplay, actually fun. lot of quality of life improvements
