Hope this was helpful even though it was a hot mess! I do think I could have stopped at the first toner color if I had added a golden color on the bottom and the ash on the roots! Definitely check out my toner video If you'd like to see how that process works!!

CAN YALL STOP BLAMING BOX COLOR?! I beg of you. The last box I used is what got me my desired color! 🤪🤪 Not any of the Sally’s toners or blue shampoo!
Bleaching virgin hair is actually what causes orange tones. Warm color is what gets lifted LAST. Thank you so much!

@Deanndra This video is a Godsend! This is exactly what I would have done too. Thank you soo much for sharing this whole story with us at home hair besties. Your tutorial inspired me to do my hair. Wish me luck. I will update you next week. Eeeeeek Oh and I'm going from Age Beautiful 4N Perm black that I have beein doing myself for YEARS so it's really in there. My first round of color remover from Sallys was a fail. My 20 vol blonde me was a fail. I'm now up to 40. It's going okay. I'll let you know. lol

I have a hair update. I was so scared, terrified actually, half way through I was like OMG what did I do but I stuck with it. It took me days I could only do one section at a time as I had banding for a section I switched dye and used Clairol. Which the bleach uncovered. So I'd have to rinse, then reapply strategically. In the end. I'm in love with my hair. I used 40 vol with blondme in small sections. I did not achieve a light blond because I was going from years of black 4N but I'm very happy. I went to Sallys and the girls there thought I got it done at the salon. Woo hoo! Team Fabulous. 😘

For those who are trying this at home with darker hair: I recommend using 20 volume developer with your bleach and then leaving on for 30 minutes, then if it's still not even close to your desired level, reapply with fresh bleach and then leave on for the remainder of the time. If you're looking for a brighter level, you have to lift passed level 7 to avoid very brassy hair.
Also if you have previously dyed your hair with demi or permanent color, it will take longer to remove those pigments from the hair in comparison to virgin hair. I have level 5 hair and have learned the hard way that low and slow developing is the safest way to go😊❤️

Hey beautiful! Hairstylist here!!! So the color you had it before 12:00 min, was actually really pretty!! Sooo just some loving advice! So the toners will only work on the level that they are at. Your hair was only lifted to a level 7 so the level 9-10 blonde toners you were trying weren’t doing much. I would suggest you tone AT a level 7 and and if you are trying to counteract orangey tones, the opposite of orange on the color wheel is blue! So you would most likely want to look for a “7AB” which stands for a level 7.. ash blue! I hope this helps! I am happy to help a diy sis any time! The end results were gorgeous, I think my advice may just help save you some steps in the future!❤️❤️

Ugh I just do NOT like mushroom brown ashy tones on my skin tone. I knew I would hate it.
I figured the first box toner wouldn’t do anything bc it was too light. Since I’m a diy channel, I know that’s what my viewers would go for first. So I just wanted to show it wouldn’t work haha.
The t11 did sort of work on the lightest parts but again I haaaated the color. I’ve been told by professionals in another video to use a demi color to tone. Which is what I used before the 12:00 mark and it worked. Also at the end. The only thing is I just used a box dye on my ends bc that’s what I had lol it also worked! The demi in my roots definitely saved this look!
&& thank you so much for the advice!! ♥️♥️ I’m sure it will help me and a whole bunch of other girls trying to diy this! 🥰🥰

I love that you are being very kind in offering advice. I watched another video about toning orange brassy tones in brunette hair and she was using Wella Color Charm 5/71. I’m assuming the numbers are different for professional lines than they are for DIYers. It really is confusing but your comment was very enlightening. 😊

Haha I could not stop watching this video, every step I was rooting for a bomb result then nope ! Not yet! But I’m glad you got what you wanted at the end. You’re very gorgeous !

Wowww! Would’ve never guessed the final result after all that would be sooooo gorgeous! I would have NEVER had the patience to do everything you did, ESPECIALLY, having to take care of a young child as well! (Your hubby is AWESOME! How blessed you are!) I barely have the patience to just color my hair with a simple 1 tone box of color, haha! No joke! Just curious…would you mind sharing the total cost of all those products you ended up using, please?

Every time I decide to do highlights or balayage, I go orange. To mentally prepare myself, I watch your videos, have a good laugh and keep chugging through. Thank you for a good time. I love your comment, "I'm not mad at it." I say that to myself a lot.

GIRLLLLL! I just found your channel like legit 2 days ago and i am sitting here borderline tears with that exact box of revlon blonde color silk dye, with my bf telling me I’m beautiful and clownin me at the same time… because i refuse to go pay $300 to hate the way my hair turns out at a salon … i have been doing my own hair for forever and it is just hit and miss. I am just like you. Like mixing all my wella leftovers from before and making Sally’s runs and ALLADAT. You literally gave me the strength to try and get these roots right. I am blonde with orangey roots at the moment and i just want that like dimensional root smudgey beach blonde…. I eventually get it there every time but every month and a half we do this struggle 😫😫😫😫you are not alone. & your hair honestly looks gorgeous in every thumbnail.

Awe thank you so much!!! I'm glad i'm not alone lol!! I was feeling a little embarrassed when filming this video bc it wasn't perfect. haha but we all know thats how the diy game goes!! Josh laughs at me every time! haha
Did you ever get your hair to where you wanted??

Omg! You had me cracking up at 14:00 when back to square 1. Same dilema here but pushing to get the color I want. Nice outcome at the end, now time to deep moisture that hair. T18 &T11 works w/20 or 30 volume or even 40 volume.

I just went from red to blonde , i used a dark ash blonde to correct the orange and i have it at the stage your hair was at before you did the golden blonde and root smudge except my ends are a little lighter I'm debating on what to put on it next kinda wanna use the same as you because i love the results but i doubt mine will look like yours ❤️ Any advice 😅

HI Love - I am confused on the last few minutes of the video - Will you outline what you ended up using (looks like toner all over - but you did not like the outcome , what would you replace it with?- Then the gold highlights, then the root bath? Do you have a list of the "loved" ingredients I can buy from your links - I can not tell the order + what you would change...Cheers xox
