@@sirmelancholia Yeah it's okay to be masculine. It can be great, inspiring, and healthy when it comes from the right place. What isn't okay is the cycle of forcing ideals of masculinity on others- Not every man or boy is going to be classically masculine and some who are just come into it later in life. Sons, brothers, women around them, even total strangers end up suffering under that shit and for what? Living up to bitter insecurities our fathers inherited from their fathers? Fuck that. Good men take responsibility for what they are, not outdated notions of what they should be that turn them into weak homophobes, wife-beaters and shitty dads. That song says it well enough.
I agree. I think the song (and the band) does an amazing job of guiding you through the song. It’s okay to be masculine, a proud man. More accurately, a proud gentleman. But what it comes down to is respect and honesty. Sometimes that means being vulnerable. Sometimes that means communicating. Sometimes that means stepping out of the box the world puts you in. There’s no real excuse for it, but look at our grandfathers. War veterans who died with carnage in their memory. They kept it to themselves and never sought peace or closure over what happened to them or what they did. It’s time men start taking more responsibility for how we act, how we treat each other and how we can improve the world around us.
I've watched this video often enough that I'd probably recognize the people in front of the stage when I see them walking in the street. And when I do, I'll say to them "Well done!" and they'll never know what that was all about.

The really early live versions are all this fast. They stopped playing it for a bit to work on it and when they started playing it again it was super slow. Way slower than it ended up on the album. I loved the early fast version but I think eventually it ended up perfect. The way it builds up gets me every time.
Interesting to see the difference a few years can make. The way they treat Colossus live is so much different in their more recent tour videos. This band is my new go to. Soon as this pandemic ends I'm seeing them asap.
Man it's so awesome to see older people at their shows, this is the second live video I've seen and the age diversity is pretty surprising to me, personally.
i sure hope that they will inspire new bands to push the genre forward and keep punk music fresh and exciting, these guys are real about it and their motivation seems pure i respect that a lot. I hope i can catch them live someday i could use a healthy outlet like punk music for my frustration a lot in the moment
Rockpalast is one of the most consistent amazing programs on german nation television. My parents watched the Police concert back then and i watched a lot of other great live shows in the past 20 years and nearly everyone is perfect.
I haven't! I didn't know this band and only started to listen in confusion. Ended up really enjoying this show, so thanks, really nice work. I'll check some others out!
been a while since a band moved me. I take that back. THis band is the first band to make ne feel a mfeeling in my chest that makes my blood pump. Absolutely amazing. Keep it up y'all. F N AMAZING
these WARRIORS .................SMASHED THE BALL......FUCKING CRUSHED LAST NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!! SO HAPPY I SAW REAL PASSION. THANK YOU IDLES .........I FIGHT ON ANOTHER DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE YOURSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please kindly play Colossus when you play Tunnels in Aberdeen!! I have learned the words already and would absolutely love to belt them out soon. All is love, Kerry Armitage ✌🏻❤️
Looks like a scene from “one flew over the cuckoo’s nest” this is my favourite band.. saved me falling over the edge.. helped my cope with things that seem trivial but that’s what makes the fine balance..
Dont miss the opportunity. Just back to Arizona from San Francisco.. took the trip to catch em since they weren't in AZ. Best live show I have ever been to. Intimate venue, sold out, at the Fillmore, with the Unity of the SF crowd... was pricelsess!
i don't think a recent band has single-handedly inspired me as much as these guys just have, holy shite
to do what?
BlueMistBands truly
I'm so so late to the party but couldn't agree more. Fucking unreal. Ferociously positive. Positively ferocious.
Same dude
What a voice. Tight drummer, great bassist and guitarist, the whole band works together, full of energy, living the notes
Brutal, in the best way
Like a Punk Rock Future Islands or something right?
@@mr.e695 yea
This and the Bataclan live performance are exceptionally good.
i want every guy i know to hear samaritans...
That makes two of us
Absolutely

I PUT HOMOPHOBES IN COFFINS
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
everyone looks so fucking happy both on and off stage.. this is how a rock concert should DEFINITELY be
I ended up at one of their shows and I'm still happy I experienced this 😄
I hope to experience this next months
exactly
For the record , i have eventually been able to see them live and it was truly wonderful and rageous!
I've watched this video often enough that I'd probably recognize the people in front of the stage when I see them walking in the street. And when I do, I'll say to them "Well done!" and they'll never know what that was all about.
I've never watched a video this many times in a short period. Those front row people are like family now ha.
"F**k the right. I'm off. Good Night" --> they are legends already. the whole thing is f'ing homeric!
This only makes want to see IDLES even more than I already did, what a fantastic gig
Guitarist is damn near wearing that guitar like a necklace.
And the bassist is wearing his like a knee guard!
cause high strapped guitars are cool again
Has to show off the package in the calvins
@@RegularDude00 I just find it a million times easier to play that way standing up.
1049 Gotho. Such a powerful song.
Found these guys a few days back. What a brilliant group. Can't wait to go live.

another gorgeous performance
Fair play to the guy at 45:30 who takes a header with his first stage dive then gets straight back up for a 2nd go - legend! Great gig, loveed it.
“That last song was for the flying man”

@@TheFunktipus1 Not much to be laughing about really, largest COVID-19 death toll in Europe.. Doing a great job aren't they!
Incredible 55 mins..blown my mind
Wie geil war und ist das denn ?!! Nahe zu perfekt diese Arbeit der Band
As an old guy I immagine that to die for an heart attack pogoing at an Idles concert couldn't be the worst way to leave this planet..
Leave.
The finest hour of my life.... Faith restored in music.
Hi, monk!
Great that you enjoyed Idles.
All the best!
Faith restored in humanity
Savage and beautiful at the same time. Future looks amazing for these guys.
Music isn't it dead, it's IDLE(S)
This is not the Jonas Brothers.
I dont think modern music can be any better than this.
Bandazaa me volví adicta a su canciones ...me pone power
Somebody is blessing you guys .
Colossus is fantastic. Can't wait to hear it on an upcoming album.
Lemonukeable the only thing i heard about the new album is that it goes and goes it and it goes.
it just came out!
TheLeeman32 yep! Sounds fucking great, much more grandiose than I was expecting
Album is due the end of August
Still one of their best songs after 3 albums. Massive song
Lol aw love the old man in the crowd
Colossus is played about half this tempo now
one word GODLIKE...
Wow, the energy on Well Done was really over the top! 😀
I FUCKING LOVE THIS VERSION OF WELL DONE.
The older guy is having the time of his life. Awesome stuff.
?
Cannot wait to see these live. Needed something like this in my life
I missed out on this band. First listen and very impressed. Sounds a bit like the Jesus Lizard to me.
This band is like a rope that was reached to me while been stuck in a dark hole and a bad wave.
my fave band! period!! 😎🤘
Samaritans is great! Can't wait for the new album.
lyrically obsessed with these guys, so proud to hear a band take a stance so direct and address basic modern content with such a panache.
Holy Shit! The Monks’ Chant!!!
only time they played Colossus not slower than the studio version and it's faster than the studio version
I love when bands have fun on stage. Well Done was absolutely brilliant. Too many bands acts so serious when they play.
Wonderful!
yak yak, heart attack! nice post, cheers!
I bet that dude on stage during 1049 Gotho had the time of his life, he was rocking in the crowd the second they started playing
The mosh cam is a nice touch.
Love the all white, asylum staff look
Man it's so awesome to see older people at their shows, this is the second live video I've seen and the age diversity is pretty surprising to me, personally.
Saw em in San Francisco last week. Amazing crowd, so diverse, but with one thing in common... all UNITED to see Idles ❤
MARY BERRY LOVE DE REGGAE cracks me the fuck up every time I hear it
Great crowd great gig great band. Thats it

according to your words, they sound great !!
There’s plenty of punk bands around that have been doing just that. But damn, do Idles do a great job of helping let out frustration.
This live recording of an IDLES concert is by far one of the best and one of the most underestimated ones out there.
I feel that! I watched it years ago and took me forever to find it again. So happy I did :)
Yeah I' wish I was there
Rockpalast is one of the most consistent amazing programs on german nation television. My parents watched the Police concert back then and i watched a lot of other great live shows in the past 20 years and nearly everyone is perfect.
Fuck me!! Now that is a crowd! And IDLES are amazing!
I've never been a fan of Exeter or White Privilege, but they really make those songs worth it live.
I mean, 31:47
Totally agree! That's one of my fav moments of the whole set. Joe's a beast.
So true. Probably my least favourite tracks from them, but absolutely awesome live.
I believe in humanity, thanks lovers!
Colossus live is so fucking raw, goddamn
Old dude rockin out at 6:15
Me: You need to focus
My brain: 1:00
One of my favourite modern bands. Such a good message behind so much of their music, surprisingly feel good as well considering its punk
The drummer!!!!!
Dig the Mosh Pit POV
Best live band ever .. I'm over 50 years old..
And getting senile dementia then are we ??
Them guitar players couldn't lace Fast Eddie Clark s boots. This band aren't in the same league as the ruts live performances...
Original Motorhead live gigs makes these guys look and sound like amateurs....
Lol getting butthurt are we? Please accept that bands of today can be just as good, if not better than, bands of days past.
I dunno how you can think they are the best live band ever....
Hope Nick Cave will see this
Stagger Leeeee
I thought it was Neil Fallon on the mic.
Hi, Federico!

@Mark Wright Is Clutch a righty band?
A great British BRISTOL punk band often described as post-punk, well if Joy Division, P.I.L & others were too then that's ok by me.
yeah! and the Killing Joke!!

Seen them last night supporting Future Islands. Bloody brilliant. Samaritans was the showstopper
I know Future Islands and they should be opening for Idles
Hey was that in dublin back in june? Dont like future islands so didnt get a ticket, you going to their show in the button factory?

this show is just wholesome
I told Bowen they're agressively wholesome and he replied with "That's our whole vibe! "
Best band of current times...?
Saw them live on Exit. Best fucking show of the entire festival.
Just beautiful.
What an amazing fucking show. I hope you guys come to Finland one day! Much love from a long-time Bristol resident/music maker!
