I just tried this today. You made it look a lot easier than it was. That power connector for the screen was a massive pain to get loose! So were the AC controls!
I found the AC panel difficult to remove
@@MTechGuy So replaced the CCC unit and screen on my 05 E87. However it did not fix my issues. The CCC sometimes works perfectly and sometimes wont even boot. Any idea what else could cause the issue?
If you are having boot issues it’s likely the CCC “head unit” it failing. You can gat the original repaired, or replace it with a second hand unit. If you use a second hand unit it may need coding if it isn’t exactly the same spec as your existing one
@@MTechGuy Could it be anything else though? I will boot but not always. This happens to both my units (my repaired unit and the second hand one). Anything else that could be the issue?
It sounds like a faulty head unit, especially if it works when the ambient temperature is cold. A faulty Bluetooth module or amp can cause issues too, if you disconnect each one you’ll have to use a MOST fibre optic loop in its place to function.
Each to their own, but I'd leave the 'wood' trim to Jaguar and the like. Good job on the i-drive. I'd have to take a big 'brave' pill before attempting it!

Woah! Have you seen what a new displace costs? I just looked it up and it is crazy (2150 euro's). I believe there are repair shops that can fix these up pretty well - even dead pixels.

Very beautiful presentation!!! I'm interested is it possible to change just a front mask of the display without removing it completely? On one side shaft holder is broke and it doesn't open it properly! I just buy mask, new one, and i want to replace it!!! Thanks!!!🙂
You’ll still have to remove the whole thing to replace just the fascia properly
Is it possible to remove the idrive and go to a conventional stereo setup?
Im looking at 130i and the owner says the system gets stuck on the loading screen fairly often. Thus losing the functionality of the idrive and losing the stereo.
Im not bothered about losing satnav, as itll be dated, more removing the dates system completely and going to aftermarket headunit
Heyyy, do you have an original center console? I dont have the Idrive screen on my e87 from 2008. I bought a used one and now i need a center console. do you think it will fit? Thanks in advance

I got a used replacement off eBay, out of the UK
Rather silver than wood, imo the only things to replace the silver with is alcantara or carbon

Hello i have the exact same screen it goes up and down perfect but is totally stuck in the menu. No respond when pressing buttoms. The radio works and volume bottun on steeeing wheel works
Could be a faulty I drive controller
@@MTechGuy I have found out when i let my car stay in the sun, and it gets very hot inside the car it tends to not work but else its fine
Hi again mate. I’m having a problem with my ccc idrive. The audio cuts in and out on aux and on radio and comes back intermittently, mines a Japanese import like yours and still has the Japanese nav/maps. Im pretty sure it’s the navigation that’s interfering making audio cut out as I can just about hear what seems like the navigation directions which is in english. Do you know if you can disable ccc inavigation? I’m wondering if I try that first before going down any other routes. I’ve just bought a CarPlay module for the existing ccc idrive pop up and don’t want to run into any problems, any help appreciated, cheers!
Bluetooth module it’s fault, it causes a break in the most loop and the ccc/mask cuts the sound each time the most loop is restarted, either change the module in question or install a most loop to bridge it, this can come from another module but generally this its the bluetooth which is the cause.

Why not just leave the existing cable in then you can test to see if it’s cable or screen...
Hi! Can you please tell me is this iDrive system called CCC and can it be installed instead of classic business radio with manual air conditioning?

Yes CCC, to retrofit there are several components required and programming, wouldn’t be worth it in a manual A/C car
If my screen doesn’t fully flip up is there a way to reset the screen. It’s just tilted every so slightly
When the screen is up, adjust the tilt moving it by hand, then next time it opens automatically it should remember it’s last position

You have to program the button through the Idrive
