I just bought a 116i. Before i bought it i talked with the dealer. ALWAYS change the spark plugs and ingitions. The engine is so smooth and the gears are lovely 😍
My 130i M sport is a Japanese import. When the dealer I bought it from imported it, they put new dash dials on it, converting it from KPH to MPH. In the process, they've put on a dial cluster with an engine temp gauge, and connected it up! (Either that, or Japanese spec cars simply had the temp gauge as standard). So I've got a 130i with a temp gauge! My old 130i SE (UK spec) had no gauge, and it frustrated the heck out of me, esp with the N52's known appetite for water pumps. Really glad to have the gauge
I love these tips. I just got a ’21 118d and it took me an hour to learn how to lock the doors. I have a automatic and learned that I have to press the P on the shifter, along with the P for parking brake. Now I have to learn how to keep the radio turned off after restarting the car.
I just hate that the 1 series doesn't come with a temp gauge as standard as I always care getting on temperature before going on the higher rpms, just so annoying
Tip: attach your key ring to the side of the fob that is the larger piece, not to the detachable door key. I lost my key fob once because the key detached by accident.
You can do the coolant bleed on non electric water pump engines too. Just need to leave engine running for a bit of temp at 28 degrees and screw loose. Did it on my 320i in 10 mins

Hi George, Hi Erik! How high is rev limiter set on your cars? My 2007 130i cuts off at 7000. I am asking because I had to replace the engine and a new one has less power than the original one. I am afraid this engine came from 125i.

I know this is a VERY late comment, but how do I get MPG up on the screen, as far as I can see I need factory radio that I don’t have? I’ve got litres per km or something similar to that but obviously that’s not a UK way of doing it 😅😅
One huge problem they didn't think about is how the batteries in the boot but you can't unlock the boot if the batteries dead so it makes getting it started after the batteries gone very difficult
In the engine bay, you will find connectors to attach a jump starter. The connector has a red protection cap on it which is visible in this video as well 👍

Random question but would appreciate some help: when I leave and lock then car with the lights left in the on position (not side lights, but leave on dipped beam). The dash lights and lights outside turn off and no warning bel alarms to say you've left the lights on. When you then unlock the car the side come on which I like. Will this drain the battery if I do this all the time??
Great job, but you didn't really tell the whole procedure of gaining access to the boot in case the battery goes flat. You just told to fold the rear seats. Now, what you didn't tell, was that you can reach (or crawl if you are too short) into the boot and pull the emergency boot lid wire. Take a look at the inside of your boot lid - there is a small, pinkie sized rectangular plastic tab that you can pull out of the boot lid trim and it is connected to a wire. Pull on it and it will manually unlock the boot lid. Great stuff in case your battery goes flat (or you get kidnapped in a 1er xD )

It’s interesting that RHD gearboxes are the same as LHD. I have an ‘09 128i 6 speed, and to go into reverse by pressing all the way left then up. I just assumed it would be the opposite (right then up). So I learned that as well lol :)
this might also be a safety feature. you wouldn't want to gear up from 6th into reverse :) that said, the mazda mx5 (nb, 2nd gen) has its reverse all to the right (and down I think) next to 6th gear. it is locked off when driving, but not perfectly, because I think i managed to unwillingly go past a little and heard gears slightly grind. (like when you try to do a money shift)

It sure can, but Carista was cheaper. My main reason was to turn off the wretched stop-start function (mines a diesel)

No, it won't flatten your battery (I've done it myself). That's what it's specifically designed to avoid.

This has actually saved me like 2 times, when I disconnect the battery to work on electrics and accidentally close the boot.
