    best video of jacking up this platform. and also great you didn’t miss any important details for anyone struggling i.e. removing the wood from front before rear lift ect just the extra things everyone else forgets to mention. i needed help finding some info just on where to lift the rear from to lower onto two jack stands and this couldn’t be clearer i just need to use the iron section of the diff. really appreciate the help will be rolling my rear arches today

    Thanks for the video! Not too sure about using the diff as a jacking point? Surely it's better to use the subframe part just before the diff? Just a thought! Thanks

      The differential is fine so long as you keep clear of the alu cover. That part of the frame just before the diff is fairly flimsy on the 1 Series, I wouldn’t lift the car there

    Will a regular 2 ton Jack get me far enough under the front of the car to have enough room to pump the handle and get the axle stands under the jacking points? If not is there anywhere else you can Jack or place an axle stand?

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  2 года назад

      Yes, easily. You might find you have to run the front wheels up on a bit if wood first, or use a smaller Jack to lift one of the front jacking points first, to be able to fit your jack under the front of the car

    Would you also take an automatic gear box out of "park" when you release the handbrake??? Mines a 2018 1series.
    Maybe put it in neutral?

    Hi, did you have the pieces of wood under the rear jack stands because your driveway is sloping? Mine slopes from the roadside towards the house, so which end would you suggest I lift first and also I guess the chokes may need to be positioned differently? Thanks

      @MTechGuy  Месяц назад +1

      My driveway has a very slight fall on it, that’s why the rear axle stands were on wood.
      That being said, I would recommend finding a flat surface, especially if you are getting under the car

    Hey great video bro. I have a 2004 120i (e87) I have fault code p110d (Throttle position sensor) the only part I can find is the "Accelerator position sensor " what is part of the pedal. Is this the part I need to replace? Is it plug and play with new pedal, or does it need special software to pair to ecu?

    Hello, the plastic support for the front lifting is also protecting the oil plug?

    why release the hand brake?

    • @MTechGuy
      @MTechGuy  2 года назад

      When you Jack up the front of the car the body rotates around the rear wheels, if the handbrake is engaged you’re forcing it and it’s likely to stretch your handbrake cable

      what about manual transmission? should it be in 1st gear or not?

    • @hurpaderpp
      @hurpaderpp 5 месяцев назад

      @@marinytu neutral with chalks is prob the best way. ive def kept my manual in first gear jacking the front and its completely fine. no different than parking on a hill.
