  • Today, we install a FVD oil pan with a deep sump and baffles on a friends 987 Cayman. The M97 engine is known for having some oil starvation issues on track, and this should help give a little peace of mind!

Torque spec is 7 ft pounds for pan bolts.

YUP! I found out the hard way....snapped off a bolt trying to go to 14 lb ft. Luckily, the bolt was protruding just enough to be able to grasp it with pliers and remove it, AND the old bolts from the oil pick up were the same as the oil pan bolts. Had to take the whole pan down, clean off the gasket material and start over.

Great video and explanations. I can confirm they also make this for the M96 (I was looking into buying one when I came across this video). Held up well?

Good stuff, thanks for chiming in! So far the owner of the car has reported ZERO issues and all is well!

    Nice Cayman lads :))
No LSD though l think that if the owner didnt waste all his money on rubbish like titanium wheel studs and carbon wing mirrors
He would have a bit of extra cash to dump an lsd in there :))

Hahahaha, the owner bought this car as it sits. I think this was the first mod he did himself. It is a really nice car, but I too would have had different priorities than the original owner.

Is this needed on a 987.2?
