Great timing. Just bought a X51 baffle/ pan and am going to install it soon on my 996. This video answered most of the questions I had so thank you for uploading. I also found the rubber seals a bit uneven but I guess a perfect seal is not possible.
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly Martin That’s what I thought I have sourced C2 knuckles, struts, sway bar, and vertical links as I said I have deleted the 4WD components and have adjustable top mounts so should work. Thanks again Mark Crawford.
You recommended I watch this on your Instagram when you answered my question yesterday-- thank you for sending along and I'm excited to continue to see the work you and your team are putting into the FA24.
I have done videos on the operation of the standard scavenge pumo and details on a prototype dual stage one. ruclips.net/video/P6ujihzMfKg/видео.html ruclips.net/video/772J-h4_8Ns/видео.html When the proper prototype arrives I'll show it on the engine with the pipework for a proper comparison. It is being made now but it will be early next year.
Excellent video man. I would have also perhaps wanted to see how the stock baffles align up and seal the engine up when fitted just like you showed with the x51 baffles.
Coll video Martin - Very interesting perspective. I have an LN deep sump which looks like it take a lot of cues from the X51 baffle with the additional integration of a sump spacer for additional volume. It does not however address head scavenging and relies on the factory setup for that task. I have found in very limited experience it to still, not do an adequate job of resolving the oil pressure instability at certain points unfortunately. I am curious how it would stack up against the factory X51 sump.
Incredibly helpful to see the comparisons actually IN the block like you've shown! Now I'm even more excited to install this upgrade on my Targa. Should I be upgrading the scavenge pump at the same time when I do this install?
Good morning Martin great to see what you are doing very interested in the tandem oil pump project I would probably be in the market for one if all go’s well with testing, firstly would like some advice if possible I am in the proses of a very similar project with my C4 I am wanting to change the front dampers to Koni units I have all the relevant parts I just wandered if you know the difference between C2 and C4 hub knuckles ? I think it is the angle of the damper due to the four wheel drive system, this for me is not a problem as I have removed it and I have adjustable turret top bearings, any help would be much appreciated keep up the good work. Many thanks Mark.
Really great explaining video of the sump design 👌
Super cool video. Congratulations 👍

Thank you for sharing. We're using this for inspiration as we try to address oiling issues on Subaru's FA24 engines.

@@dawsonjohannes613 Thanks! Glad you found it.
Awesome 👏 illustration and fantastic explanation Thank you 🙏
Great video, really clearly shows the differences between them well. Could you do a vid on the dual stage scavenge pump and pipework please!?👍🏻😀

Just took my sump off and found an O ring in the bottom maybe 15mm diameter…any ideas ?

Great vid. In normal street driving I get a drop in oil pressure on long right handers.

Yes, the angle is different to clear the driveshaft. If you change to the C2 hub you need the C2/GT3 suspension and uprights.
Where can one buy a Porsche X 51 sump ? i cannot find anything but the LN deep sump conversion kit. Anyone please
It is a standard Porsche part. 99610724341
Can someone please advise best place to purchase this kit baffle and sump plate. Many thanks
The x51 sump is available from Porsche dealers, a few other companies also make copies of it.
