I am always bit sceptical when I see you building an instrument, but in the end, when I see you playing it I am completely melting. This is so cool, I really want to build and an instrument myself now. Thank you for the inspiration!
With only two strings you gave that thing life. I do not know how to play any musical instrument. I am just amazed by what you can do to build and play music. No amp or pickup and it sounds great.
An inspiration for creativity.. I too have made instruments from essentially scrap! The idea is the thing that counts. There is a mini drum kit in my front room made from varying diameters and lengths of heavy duty cardboard carpet cores, wood glue, scraps of wood, plastic lid and recycled para cloth from the recycle shop! My kids couldn't stop playing them, all the uncles aunts cousins etc had a blast with them, they were painted with acrylic paints I had around, yes they got worn, but They were old carpet rolls and cost nothing? Literally nothing, just my time and scrap. Christmas 2013. Inscribed on those drums are the words "don't let money be the excuse to not invent" PANJO ! Brilliant...
There was like 4-5 "make and try" instrument this week on my recommendd videos andi say "wow, amazing!!" and fav them ... now i realized they are all from the same guy. You are amazing!
it looks so violent when the videos are sped up like this :D one second he's calmly measuring and the next he's sawing precise details at 70 miles an hour :D
You're getting better. Even if I don't like your head stocks :) maybe you should have made a taller bridge, then lower it to prevent from fret buzzing, and planing the frets and sanding them to make them round would have been great :)
Τhanks. The frets don't buzz, it's actually the bridge that needs fine tunings with the file! If the frets go in place right and the fret board is flat, there is no need for leveling at this stage!
It made me wonder why they're called that - in the past people used to talk about "fretwork", which is what people use scroll saws for nowadays. I will have to find out why frets are called that, and why fretsaws got their name. I really don't imagine there's any direct connection.
I'm wondering if it wouldn't have been been better if you'd reversed the direction of the pan? You could also go one step further if you're truly going for the banjo sound and strap a skin to the front. Anyhow .. the concept is great. Love the video.
The super glue is really thin and when I add it at the end of the fret it actually goes under the whole fret. So cutting the ends off doesn't really matter!
Great Job,,, 😆 I sure wish I could work as fast as you,,, What is the name of the song that you are playing? And from what region? It is neat. .. You make an a cd, And I'll buy it... tanx and keep up the good work...
music c or not, always enjoy your videos . Appreciate the abbreviated nature of your posts. what would you ask for an instrument like this if you were to sell it?
awesome! when you're measuring the scale length and plugging into stumac -- are you measuring the length of string from nut to saddle or are you measuring from the tuning pegs to where the strings fasten to the instrument? great build. i've made a fretless three string cigar box, but i'd like to try making a fingerboard on the next build.
I love your videos, but I have one question...do you have any measure written on some websites or roughly put on it? And can you make bass guitar? I know there is two questions but I need to ask hehe
No exact measurements ( I rarely use measurements myself ). In all my videos there is a link in the description, leading to a related blog article. More info there. I have made a bass before. Perhaps I'll make another some time. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend.
Scrap wood City I'm sorry but I do not read the description. I watch almost all who work with wood because I go to high school for interior designers and carpenter. I love your video where you're working with lathe and please make video where with baseball bat. I forgot about that video where you made bass guitar. Sorry about grammar.
Awesome video! Just wondering what strings you bought and also what ones you would buy if you were to make this a four string or three string. What would you recommend making? Thanks a ton!
I just used what guitar strings I had around. For four strings I would suggest to use the four higher strings of a guitar tuned in the same way! Thanks for watching
Another question: back side pans (resonator) It remains open. Maybe it makes sense to close her wooden deck? Or it does not affect the sound quality. Mark.
I like it open, it resembles to a banjo. But it's kind of flexible that way and affects the tuning sometimes. Maybe I'll come up with an upgrade some time
Hey, what is the material that you used to create the frets with? I'm planning on doing something similar to this for a school project/ assessment and would like to know what I will need. Cheers
The pan makes its sound medieval almost. Love it. Sick.
Wife: where’s my pan honey?
Woodman: I made a panjo
Wife: I need a divorce
*proceeds playing panjo divorce blues*
lol
There u go again 😆😆
This dude will definitely survive in fallout universe. You know, making stuff from scrap metal parts. Amazing!!!
Great video. I enjoy having no background music. I like the ambient shop sounds.
Thank you, glad you liked it
Me too!
So you like to hear 0:08
I am always bit sceptical when I see you building an instrument, but in the end, when I see you playing it I am completely melting. This is so cool, I really want to build and an instrument myself now. Thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you very much for the nice words, glad you liked it!
Scrap wood City banjo panjo and canjo
With only two strings you gave that thing life. I do not know how to play any musical instrument. I am just amazed by what you can do to build and play music. No amp or pickup and it sounds great.
You hand made a "panjo" then played it........I can't even play a radio. Great job.
Thank you very much my friend
Scrap wood City you are an artist Jesus like that's art

Very clever....you can make a spanakopita on one side then celebrate and play music after...I love it!
lol, that 's true!
The best banjo player Is It "peti moh" frome Algeria
I love your use of fast motion. It is done with taste and at the correct times.

This is awesome! I would love to see you make a five string banjo.
thanks, perhaps in future
Cool. 👍
That is so cool. Just like your other musical instrument builds.
Thank you
great job as always mate. you're an inspiration to makers the world over.
Wow, thank you very much
You have placed my cookware in jeopardy! Thanks. Sounds good.
With a hardwood neck, it could probably handle six strings. Maybe twelve.🤔
If the frets go in place right and the fret board is flat, there is no need for leveling at this stage!
if i had my own tools and workshop experience, id love to make one!!
That thing sounds great! Looks good too!
thank you very much

You are really a handy man to have around!

MrHandwerk htjwbb
Sounds much more like BENGALI FOLK music. Just awesome!!!
thank you
Wow the moment you played ❤️
thank you
Do you make it for selling purpose? If i want to order it can you make it for me? Or any other social networking site to contact you for the same.
Cool sound. Seems like it would go well with a bagpipe or something.
thank you
Scrap wood City no problem! Love your channel, btw.
Very similar to the classic American cake tin banjo. Thanks for the detailed building video!
You are one of the few people who use a fret saw to cut the fret slots. Most people on RUclips use a Japanese pull saw, or a Tenon Saw.
lol, never thought of that
It made me wonder why they're called that - in the past people used to talk about "fretwork", which is what people use scroll saws for nowadays. I will have to find out why frets are called that, and why fretsaws got their name. I really don't imagine there's any direct connection.
Beautiful bro 👍 keep going
Thanks ✌️
Panjo ahaha, you're awesome, and I LOVE your vids
Thank you
BEAUTIFUL, what wood for the neck?
Thanks, it's spruce, nothing special

I love what you do and want to get into building my own instruments but i dont know where to get started.
Just start with a project. The rest will follow

I will try to make something like this.Great work
Nice to hear that. Good luck on your build.
BEAUTIFUL WORK, WHICH WOOD WOULD YOU USE TO MAKE THE ARM AND THE SCALE?
Thank you. I used spruce.
Love your work from Chile 👌
Thank you very much, greetings from Greece
I'm wondering if it wouldn't have been been better if you'd reversed the direction of the pan? You could also go one step further if you're truly going for the banjo sound and strap a skin to the front. Anyhow .. the concept is great. Love the video.
thanks for that. is there any chance for bluegrass or more strings?
yeah its cool, what are the proportions and mesurements of parts of the banjo? :/
Why do you put super glue to the fret endings to cut them out?
The super glue is really thin and when I add it at the end of the fret it actually goes under the whole fret. So cutting the ends off doesn't really matter!
Υπέροχο.!!
θ μπορούσες να φτιάξεις κ ένα τουμπερλεκι μήπως.??
Κάποια στιγμή Ναι. Μου λείπει το δέρμα αλλά κάτι θα κάνω
Awesome 👏👏👏👏🎼
Great Job,,, 😆 I sure wish I could work as fast as you,,, What is the name of the song that you are playing? And from what region? It is neat. .. You make an a cd, And I'll buy it... tanx and keep up the good work...
Thank you very much. I was just improvising on a major scale. It's rhythm resembles to music from Crete in my ears.
Scrap wood City Wow,,, genius, ,, jazz man,, that's great,,, ( insert big smile here )
really cool! great job!
thank you very much
Amazing ! Wonderful !
thank you
music c or not, always enjoy your videos . Appreciate the abbreviated nature of your posts. what would you ask for an instrument like this if you were to sell it?
Thank you. Don't really now. I usually give them to friends or keep them myself!
awesome!

great build. i've made a fretless three string cigar box, but i'd like to try making a fingerboard on the next build.
Always from nut to bridge. Thanks

I realy enjoy your instruments videos , can you make a ukulele the next time ? It can be cool in my opignon !
I may do so, I have it in mind!
or a scrap violin, cello, flute or kalimba!
I love your videos, but I have one question...do you have any measure written on some websites or roughly put on it? And can you make bass guitar? I know there is two questions but I need to ask hehe

Thank you my friend
Your a bloody legend mate
Awesome video! Just wondering what strings you bought and also what ones you would buy if you were to make this a four string or three string. What would you recommend making?
Thanks a ton!
I just used what guitar strings I had around. For four strings I would suggest to use the four higher strings of a guitar tuned in the same way! Thanks for watching
Also, how did you set up the device to cut for the frets? How deep is it?
Thumbs up really cool, some great ideas Thank you.
thank you
Why did you use a 2 by 3 to make the neck but otherwise great job
Awesome work...really cool idea
thank you very much
what was the name of the song you played at the end? Great job by the way.
thanks. No particular song, just improvising
Is there a way to make fret wire straight by hand.
cool project,love your vids:)
thank you very much
Another question: back side pans (resonator)
It remains open. Maybe it makes sense to close her wooden deck? Or it does not affect the sound quality.
Mark.
I like it open, it resembles to a banjo. But it's kind of flexible that way and affects the tuning sometimes. Maybe I'll come up with an upgrade some time
whats the name of the song you played at the end?
I was improvising
How deep did you cut the fret wire slots?
love the panjo
thank you
When you speed up the power tools, it reminds me of a dental drill and makes me uneasy. Music helps get rid of that effect.
Hey, what is the material that you used to create the frets with? I'm planning on doing something similar to this for a school project/ assessment and would like to know what I will need. Cheers
It is called fret wire! But be careful to by it in a size that will fit tight enough in the slot that your saw will produce!
Scrap wood City thank you i appreciate the response
Can you build a ukelele?I would like to make one too and learn how to play it.
It would be an interesting project, maybe I will
What kind of pan is that and what material are you using for the frets
Amazing what you can do. Thanks for sharing.
thank you
i love this channel!!!
thank you my friend
Very good banjo you give my sholrd i think create my banjo
