Love this video! You exhibited your personal brand of genius as well as your fun side here. I have to say the 2X4 Lap Steel was really impressive (and my favorite.)
@musicalmiscellany Yeah, I build basses and guitars. Also percussion stuff. I never even thought about how easy it would be to make a lap steel. I am definitely gonna do that.
I LOVE your bass. That really rocks. Lyres are cool. I've made three -- one from a discarded one-inch pine shelf (with plywood soundboard), one from an old cutting board (this one is just scooped out, no soundboard) and one from a 3/4 inch plywood corner from a kitchen remodel that looks a little more like a harp. Guitar tuning pegs for ease or retuning.
Thanks for checking it out. I know folks tend to call a 2-string guitar a chugger but I'm not sure that applies to a 2-string bass. I suppose I could call it whatever I want. LOL. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching. I actually made that drone box from 2 kits. One kit that was designed to be a delay circuit and another with 3 oscillators. It's not as difficult as you think but yeah... not a beginner task either.
I've sold a handful of them and given away a few but I end up keeping most of them. I've always thought about selling them on Etsy or something. Thanks for watching.
Being of the fretless variety, it requires a good ear for when the note you’re playing is in pitch or not. But as was mentioned, all of the strings have their own tuners. All standard orchestral violins, violas, cellos and basses all have tuners and are fretless. But even guitars and such come in fretless varieties!
Thanks for checking it out. I really do enjoy cigar box guitars. I think they're often overlooked as toys but they're serious instruments that sound really good.
I feel good about buying kits now I struggle on my own building but like trying the pizza paddle and the 2x4 lap Steele are cool the little box for sound effects way beyond my building ability
Thanks for watching the video. DIY can be as simple or complex as you want. Kits are great for learning how things work and honestly... several of my favorites are kits. As you get more comfortable, try some of your own designs. Just make sure you always have fun doing it.
I want to see acoustic instruments that can be built with household items, Not amped instruments built with kits and spare parts. I liked your didgeridoo video

That's a good suggestion. If I was to create a harp, I'd probably try to figure out a way to put geared tuners on it because zither pins are just annoying to tune.
They’re all so awesome!! I want to make an electric lyre from scratch and was wondering where you would recommend to get the pickup and hardware? Thanks!!
Dude I loved this video you are amazingly creative and clever iam an ex drug addict bass player who's last rig made a one way trip to pawn town and im learning harmonica im a hobo and sober
Thanks for watching the video. Harmonica is a great instrument. Very expressive, fun to play, and easy to transport. Wishing you all the best and congrats on your long sobriety.
i just made my first instrument i made a shaker out of a whiskey bottle. I got a pretty good sound out of it. Now I want to make something else. I really want a jarmageddon but its sold out online :(
@@DoodMang7 The didley spoon has a piezo disc pickup mounted to the bottom of the soundboard. It seems to amplify the string pretty well and doesn't feedback too badly. Check out this vid if you haven't already: ruclips.net/video/FLWsK7_q3uI/видео.html

That bass is AMAZING! In a world of computers, VSTs, dial up loops, you are an inspiration! I love the hurdy gurdy, too. Brilliant Work!!!!!
Thanks for checking out the video. I really appreciate that. I like the latest and greatest but there's something to be said for tried and true.
The 2×4 is gorgeous!
Thanks. It sounds really good too.
the pizza paddle bass is actually a sick af idea, i feel like i need to make one for myself
Thanks. I had the idea when I saw one hanging on the wall at a restaurant. I thought... hmmm... that resembles a guitar but its too long.

Fun video and man that bass did sound really good. Thanks
Thanks for watching. Homemade instruments are fun to make but often times... I'm amazed by how good they sound.
Love the bass and steel 👍

Wow, some of these I hadn't seen before! I like the lyre a lot of course but the drone box looks super useful! 😊
Thanks for watching. It was hard to pick 10 but I managed to do it. LOL. And you are correct, the drone box is really useful.

Amazing,,, TALENT... I wish i had some...LOVE THE BLUE STEEL..
Thanks for watching the video. That lap steel is a great sounding instrument. It came out surprisingly well.
Have you ever made a gheiro? Guiro? Using a gourd.
I haven't made on of those yet but it's on my list of things to try someday. Thanks for checking out the video.
Very interesting! Thank you for sharing.❤

How do you tune them? That you can actually play music. The ones you made are awesome 👍.
Thanks for checking out the vid. I'm not really sure what you're asking though. All the string instruments have tuners.

Before we ask the question "what is an instrument?" we should first clear up what music even is. ;)
Another question that could be a video all it's own. Thanks for watching.
You are such an interesting person!
Thanks for watching. I'm glad somebody thinks I'm interesting. :-)
Do you have how to videos? On how to make our own?
Yes. Check the video's description. Each instrument has its own video. Thanks for checking it out.
It must be hard for you to pick your favorite! I really liked several of those. Each has it own charm!
Indeed. Homemade instruments are always unique and fun.
I know I'm kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good site to stream newly released series online?
@Lachlan Shepherd i would suggest flixzone. Just google for it =)
