    Mom, you're the Greatest!! Thank you so much! Being the last of eight children, I watched my sisters making all kinds of rotis, but when I grew up, I couldn't make them to save my life. Thanks to you, I think you just saved my life. I will try making some Sada roti this weekend and let you know how they turn out. Dhanyavaad!!!

    I have tried for years and many a recipe to make the elusive Sada Roti, which only ended in failure and frustration. That is until I stumbled across Mom's Trini Cooking. It was by far the best Sada Roti I have ever made, and I even got it to swell and made a whole wheat version to boot! Wonderful recipes, easy to follow and you make the viewer feel at home and welcome in your kitchen!
    Please please do a recipe for home made doubles at some point!

    Hi Mom....thanks for the recipe. Did you purchase your Tara or is it homemade? It’s thicker compared to mine and other commercial ones I’ve seen in stores.

    • @momstrinicooking4449
      @momstrinicooking4449  4 года назад

      I had mine made in Trinidad a long time ago, that's why it's so thick. They don't usually make them like this in the stores. Thinner ones still work well.

    😎🤓🇮🇱🇮🇱🇺🇸🏴🏳️✝️🦃🥩🍉🇹🇹🇵🇭 our Trinidadian family is from Fyzabad. The family used to get it to swell by the oil and butter mixture with a brush. But our Roti is a bit more darker. The favourite was the Roti Dhal Puri where it looked more like the Paratha style.

    When do you add the oil?

    • @momstrinicooking4449
      @momstrinicooking4449  4 года назад

      after kneading the dough for a couple of minutes you can add it and continue to knead the dough until smooth. I also like to put a little oil in the bowl and on top before I let it rest (that way it does not stick to the bowl too much).

    In the olden days Sada Roti (all roti) was made with baking powder, I guess things have changed and many have been using yeast, the same goes for fried bake and bara...but I am sure it taste fine.

    • @momstrinicooking4449
      @momstrinicooking4449  4 года назад +2

      Yes, you are right. So much has changed and become modern in Trinidad too. I usually keep my recipes more traditional but I do tweak it here and there to suit me and my family preferred taste.

      She didn’t closed the loyas completely so there was a hole that is why it didn’t swell completely, it looks like it came out good though.
