Silky Dhalpuri Roti

  • Soft, silky, delicious dhalpuri roti that adds flavor to your curry or stews. My favorite way to enjoy this soft dhalpuri, is lightly toasted with some cheese and kuchela!
    Ingredients:
    Filling:
    1lb dhal
    3 large pimento peppers
    1 large hot pepper (or more to taste)
    6 large garlic cloves
    12 chadon beni leaves
    1 tsp brown sugar
    2 tsp salt (or to taste)
    1/4 tsp tumeric/saffron powder
    2-3 tbsp ground geera (or more to taste)
    1 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil
    Dough:
    4 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
    4 tsp baking powder
    1 3/4 cup very warm water
    1 tsp vinegar
    Extra flour for rolling dough
    1/2 cup vegetable oil for cooking roti
    *Dhal filling makes 12-16 dhalpuri roti. Store left over dhal filling in a ziploc bag in the freezer.
    *Dough makes 6-8 dhalpuri roti
