You absolutely need to react to "The Beauty of Hockey" by NeutralZoneHD. Hockey has so much more to offer than only violent hits. It has skill, speed, creativity and pure clutch moments and that video captures everything from fights, shots, saves and everything in between!
Also these guys are the toughest of the tough, they take a hit and keep on playing. They don’t stub their toe on a clump of grass and then roll around shrieking like their leg has been amputated. This is a man’s sport and it has been tested that NHL hits are 17% harder than NFL hits.
If you want to see some crazy NHL rivalries, look up NHL Rivals: Boston Bruins versus Montreal Canadiens. Over 90 years of one of the greatest blood feuds in all of sports, these two teams culminated in 54 Stanley Cup Finals appearances, 30 Stanley Cup championships, over 150 current and future Hall of Famers, and the gritty ferocity of the Boston Garden vs the formal reverence of the Montreal Forum. They are two of the six original teams that make up the foundation of the modern NHL and they are forever NHL rivals.
One thing people forget to point out to newcomers to the sport is that only the puck carrier can be hit. Some of these hits were legal and some were legal at the time but aren't anymore, and some of these are straight up suspendable. Most of these caused injury and a couple of these ended a players career. You should Check out the Beauty of Hockey. Its a great video for those that are just starting out in their hockey fandom
Not to mention, hits like these don't happen every game. Over the course of a normal 82 game season, you might see a handful of truly big hits. Plenty of hitting and guys finishing their checks, but putting someone through the glass, or knocking them out is pretty rare.
Hits to the head are illegal and can lead to fights. Hits to the head will lead to a a hearing for suspension and fines. Hockey is actually started in Canada and there is a video called the beauty of hockey which will help explain the parts that makes hockey great
Love the video!!!! You should Definitely react to a video called: The beauty of hockey. It’s such an eye opener to the sport and a very well put together video
It's the speed. Force = Mass X Acceleration. They're on skates, moving upwards of 20 miles an hour, sometimes in opposing directions. The hits are worse than the NFL. But in the NFL you get hit way more often. However, the regular NHL schedule is 82 games a season +playoffs, NFL is 16 games +playoffs.
A good portion of these hits, especially the old school ones were illegal. The general rules of hitting are: you can only hit the player with the puck, shoulder to shoulder or shoulder to chest. You cannot target the head, cannot hit from the blindside, cannot hit from behind (especially into the boards) and you cannot use your elbows. You can also hit someone with your hip, also known as a hip check, which is practically an art. As for speed, they can go VERY fast if you couldn't tell. The average player is 15-20mph, the fastest can reach up to 25-30mph on a good day. All it takes for a player to reach top speed is 2 or 3 strides, so the field of play doesn't really matter when it comes to their speed.
I was watching this thinking "someone should tell him about the fights" and then looked in the comments to see all you lovely hockey fans already had. Echoing others about the beauty of hockey it's a must for anyone just getting into the game.
Skating is waaaaay faster than running. Two guys going full speed can hit at a combined 50 mph/80kmph. Not only is it on ice, but they're fighting over a hard rubber disc with clubs and knife-shoes (shoutout Steve Dangle/Sportsnet), that they can shoot at over 100mph/160 kmph. Brutal and graceful at the same time, why it's my fave.
All the tempered glass (what you see shattering on impact) has now been replaced with Plexiglass. It does still break from time to time, but it usually breaks in a couple large pieces instead of shattering into tiny fragments. Additionally the barriers or boards do have some give to them, they aren't solidly anchored so that they will absorb at least some of the impact of hits.
The hits are amazing but you need to see them in context. Hockey is the most exciting sport there is and the skill level is like no other. Please keep watching, It's amazing!
Hockey hits are worse than football hits because you have no way to stop your momentum for 90% of the time and injuries can happen at any millisecond. But, these guys are even tough enough to put their bodies on the line to win the Stanley Cup, the hardest trophy to win in the four major North American sports. As a Dallas Stars fan since the days of Marty Turco, I can probably say that it was very humbling to know that the team that I root for once held that prestigious title back in the 1998-1999 season.
There’s actually much more of a concussion issue in the nfl than the nhl, but obviously there are concussions in hockey. I’d say the average hockey player career is longer as well. Currently there’s multiple 40 year olds playing, plus in nhl you can start younger. It’d be awesome if you could do a David Pastrnak highlight video, he’s my favorite but the best hockey video you could do to really see good passages of play would be “most electrifying playoff goals in recent memory”
The reason that there’s no sport like hockey: the best team sport format in the world is soccer, two nets on each side, two human goalkeepers, each goal is 1 point. BUTTTT it’s on ice, smaller surface, smaller object, smaller goals and the speed in which these players play is around 40MPH. Now you bring all aspects of sports into it, fighting, brutal hitting, crazy athleticism, you literally need to be able to do the splits to be a goaltender. Give them a stick, the hand eye coordination is majestic, the creativity and team play is incredibly admirable to say the least. Shots towards the goalies are 80-100MPH btw. Would love to see more I’m high and a French Canadian so I have no clue if I explained well, but I would love to see more my friend. Crazy fuckin sport
Hockey is so much fun. The speed is tremendous. If you have the puck on your stick you’re fair game to be hit but you can’t target the head. Players get hurt if they’re hit into the boards or if an opposing player targets the head. Concussions have happened and there are a lot of injuries. Going through the glass does not happen often. If players target the head or hit a player late (after he passes the puck off) that player will get a penalty and have to go to the penalty box and serve the penalty for the offense. There is a tremendous amount of skill in hockey...look up players like Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, Patrick Kane.
Watch best hockey goals. Hockey has alot of stuff way more then just hits. Puck control and speed, strength and maneuvering around defenders quite crazy
Not all of these are legal but most are. General rule of thumb is hitting anywhere but the head is legal as long as the player has the puck. There are a couple exceptions like knee-to-knee but that's the gist.
I dont know where you're at or what cable channels you get but there two BB games right now, the cubs are playing at Cincinnati and the cardinals are playing at Pittsburgh and later the royals at Minnesota and the Indians at Chicago.
Hockey isnt a contact sport, its a collision sport. When you get hit its like you got hit by a car going 30mph. I played and trust me, the hits are 1000x harder then football
football is branded as the collision sport. its honestly hard to say which hits harder but u should't say hockey hits are 1000x harder. NFL players on their own hit 10 times harder then nhl players, but the nhl players are on ice and move way faster so i dont know its debatable.
During breaking plays where the pucks being moved up and down the ice the average skater is going about 20 mph/30 km/h and can get a short speed burst up to 25 mph/40 km/h mph make hits or go on a breakaway. Connor McDavid of the Oilers is currently the fastest skater in the NHL with a top speed of 25.4 mph/40.9 km/h. The average speed of the fastest NFL players is around 22 mph/35 km/h mph but the players on defence doing the hitting are usually much slower and heavier.
It's not that violence is valued over skill. It's more that skill has no accountability in a lot of sports. Players can embarrass others but the rules often don't allow defenders to eliminate skill. In N.A. collision sports it doesn't allow skill to go unbridled but also highlights when a skill play still defeats defensive play.
Aside from the hits, hockey skates are 3 mm thick. For goalies, 5 mm. The blade would slice open your arm or neck like a razor. And when you hit that hard ice it hits back. But the skill of hockey? First you have to learn how to skate. Then skate with all those pads. Then with a stick in your hand. Then while bent over. Then you learn how to shoot, how to stick handle with the puck. Then you learn how to skate backwards and sideways. Hockey, though rough, is a sport based around maddeningly difficult skills. And wait until you see the reaction time these goalies have in stopping shots, or the beauty and speed of these guys skating. Trust me, you play hockey with your head on a swivel.
Body checking ( hits ) are a legal defensive move. You can only target the opposing player who is in control of the puck. The legal checks are #1 Hip check and #2 Shoulder check. You can only target the player between their neck and hip. There were some illegal checks in this video. If seen by the ref, the offending player will get a penalty. Not unusual to have a pane of glass shatter on impact…..however it is plexiglas so doesn’t cut.
Ice Hockey, this modern version, and Basketball were both invented by Canadians. As a Canadian, who grew up playing hockey and as a proud fan, you are welcome! and you can have basketball! This rough style of hockey is Canadian Hockey. It is the reason why Canada is the dominate hockey nation in the world - more than twice as many intetnational wins/medals than the next closest country - Russia. Thankfully, some US players and leagues have adopted the Canadian style of hockey and avoid the European Style of hockey. The NHL was a Canadian league that expanded into the USA. Historically, most NHL players are Canadian, but that has dropped from almost 100% down to 50% today. Even hockey teams in the USA are half Canadian players or more. Hockey pucks are vulcanized rubber that are frozen for game use, reduces bouncing of puck. Pucks are shot at average speeds of 88 mph up to about 120 mph. The glass is 1/2 inch thick safety glass. The boards, can move a little, but are not padded and are boards, hard. Body and Hip checks are legal providing 1) the head is not the initial point of contact 2) you don't hit people from behind, on the numbers on back of jersey and 3) hip checks must be above the knee. Hockey players move at speeds of up to 28 mph and collisions between two players can occur at over 50 mph. Even though hockey players are app 20% smaller than NFL players, NHL Hockey hits are known to be over 20% harder than NFL or rugby. Then they land on ice or are smashed into boards - lol can't run out of bounds, in hockey, to avoid getting hit. You are not allowed to hit anyone with your stick, unless it was a follow- through on a shot. Fighting is illegal and results in at least a 5 min penalty or more. Fighting usually results in response to a dirty play/player - retribution and punishment - see ' the code' Hockey players do not stay down unless they are really hurt, normally they pop back up and keep playing - other sports could LEARN from this Most common hockey injuries are stitches and loosing teeth aka 'spitting chicklets' - when this happens, hockey players don't usually even miss a shift Hockey players play through the pain on broken legs, broken feet, broken jaws, noses and facial bones. If at all humanly or inhumanly possible, hockey players finish their shift, the game and the series. Ice Hockey is rated as the SECOND most difficult and tough sport, just behind boxing. Less than a 1% difference between the two. It is followed by football, mma....but who really cares about that. Each game is a full 60 minutes, made up of three 20 min periods. The clock is stopped when game play is halted. The NHL regular season is 82 games ( also has pre-season) and Stanley Cup Playoffs where you must win '4' best of 7 series, hence a minimun of 16 games to a maximum of 28 games played! An entire football season just to win the cup! Hence, it is the hardest trophy in professional sports to win! Finally, THERE IS NOTHING LIKE PLAY-OFF HOCKEY!
I don’t see my comment so I’m posting again just incase with edit: Some of the basic rules of hockey if you decide to watch. It’s 5 on 5 (not including goalie) you must push the puck past the blue line before you or any other team can enter the attacking zone. You cannot pass the puck past 3 lines or it’s icing (to prevent what’s called cherry picking). If one team has a penalty they go in the box for 2 to 5 min. The team who has the penalty can shoot the puck past 3 lines as they’re at a disadvantage. You can only hit someone who has the puck. Fights result in both members going to the box. Both must initiate the fight by throwing their gloves off. A team can pull their goalie to the bench for another player. In Overtime, it’s 3 on 3 (again not including goalie). The puck must pass the entire line before a goal, it doesn’t count if it’s still on the line. My team is the Toronto Maple Leafs. You should react to trash talk mic’s up NHL
Yes, there are quite a few concussions and career ending hits. You also have to factor in the speed at which these guys are moving. They usually hit each other at full speed which is crazy but exciting. Hockey is a beautiful, crazy, dangerous sport. The way guys get hit in the NFL and NHL makes me unable to watch your football/soccer. Those guys dive in pain when the ball doesn't even hit them.
The equipment and helmets do a lot more than you might think but hits still hurt badly if you're not ready for it. Also, some of these are illegal hits, as you aren't allowed to lead a hit with your elbow, leave your feet, check someone from behind, hit the head as the primary point of contact, or hit someone without the puck. Most hitting infractions will only be a 2-minute penalty though, you have to do something seriously malicious to be ejected. Many of these hits are just big, clean hits though
From what I hear the players are going faster in Hocky than they in Football, because the ice skates lets the players build up more speed faster, than can be done in Football, so the hits are harder.
Sorry to keep on adding bits but hockey players speed on ice averages25 to 35 mph, and Connor McDavid has been clocked at 40 mph. No matter how fast you can run. No human is going torun 25 mph.
Most of those videos are old, but most hits looked legal in terms of not worthy of a penalty. The NHL has changed throughout the years. Hockey is not an original American sport. Actually, you can build up more speed on ice. There’s another aspect of hockey that isn’t seen in this video, the speed of the puck. Heavy shots can travel up to 100mph, and unlike baseball, pucks have an edge (not a sharp edge).
Day like 5 of asking for Troy Polamalu. Also yeah America values athleticism and violence and ferocity over skill. Like if someone is really bad at football but can hit like train, he'll play professionally most likely
I disagree as an American. But imagine this... the art of the hit. Making big hits or taking them but still being a highly skilled top flight athlete. Peter Forsberg/Alex Ovechkin if you will. (Not Americans) North American Games/Players/Fans don't solely focus on violence. But when you add that element to a highly skilled game you separate out a whole nother level of toughness required to compete. Total package of beautiful toxic masculinity. 20th Century ftw.
Bro as a Canadian and of course a hockey fan as in hockey is the greatest game on earth, I got a little erked when you compared hockey to soccer? nah soccer the players get tripped and flop around on the grass like they are about to die, hockey a player gets his two front teeth knocked out gets up goes to the bench sticks a towel in his mouth and then out for next shift (sorry for the grammar I know it sucks)
You absolutely need to react to "The Beauty of Hockey" by NeutralZoneHD. Hockey has so much more to offer than only violent hits. It has skill, speed, creativity and pure clutch moments and that video captures everything from fights, shots, saves and everything in between!
I am Star Lord and I approve this message ^^^
"He shattered the glass! Does that happen often??" ...."What about those fans?"
Son....those fans LOOOOVE it! We LIVE for that.
give them a refill on their beer and they'll be okay
Ikr..lol
YO! WOULD THIS GUY EVER MAKE MORE VIDEOS? THIS GUY IS DOPE.

"It's insane, but it's beautiful to watch." This is probably the best description of hockey I've ever heard 😂
They skate much faster than the NFL players can run.
and you Can't run out of bounds.

Speed? When two hockey players are skating toward eachother--when they hit it's equal to about 50 mph.
You’ll be amazed at the speed of the game.

Hockey is a Canadian sport as well as basketball

The hits are amazing but you need to see them in context. Hockey is the most exciting sport there is and the skill level is like no other. Please keep watching, It's amazing!
Hockey skills at the NHL Level take a Literal Lifetime to learn. Takes more skill than all other sports up together.
Hockey hits are worse than football hits because you have no way to stop your momentum for 90% of the time and injuries can happen at any millisecond. For the NHL of course:)
Their helmets leave them vulnerable to elbows, high sticks, punches and even a solid rubber puck that moves 80-100 mph.
The reason that there’s no sport like hockey: the best team sport format in the world is soccer, two nets on each side, two human goalkeepers, each goal is 1 point. If you pull one of these hits on a star player you will get your shot rocked the rest of the game.

You can get wicked fast on skates and many players end up losing teeth. You need to check out hockey fights. You can actually fight in hockey.
The old joke: "I went to watch the fight and a hockey game broke out"
Lol u have a perfect haircut for hockey
Hockey is Canadian btw
NHL players can reach speeds in excess of 20 miles (32 km) per hour on the ice
so where did you disappear to??
Not all of these are legal but most are. General rule of thumb is hitting anywhere but the head is legal as long as the player has the puck. There are a couple exceptions like knee-to-knee but that's the gist.

Lol, they get into fist fights all the time. They only get a few minute penalty for it.
Getting the glass shattered in front of you is why you WANT to buy the rinkside seats!!! It's one of the best moments of hockey ever!

The way guys get hit in the NFL and NHL makes me unable to watch your football/soccer. Those guys dive in pain when the ball doesn't even hit them.
Please do NHL biggest fights.
Watch skill videos...Ovechkin, Jagr, Datsuk, McDavid among many others...
Should watch the best NHL fights
Do a video on hockey fights please
More hockey
Every team has an enforcer who’s job is “payback”.
hockey in the fastest team sport in the world. so no, they don't generate more speed in the nfl.
Guys I think we scared him off. Havent heard from him in like 3 wks.
Masks are Upton each player... a few decades ago guys did not wear helmets. There was a time when goalies not wear any head gear...
should do a reaction to Pavel Datsyuk
NHL Hockey Fights !
They are skating a lot faster then running lol
Also do nhl fights
No, Hockey players are skating faster, than NFL players are running dude!!!
Hockey is filled with skill. Gotta watch best dangles and goals.
Dude you can legally fight in this league. And nhl skaters skate MUCH faster than nfl players run
When I picture Robin Hood, you are who I picture.
I'd say more D'Artangnan.
React to Tie Domi career highlights 1989-2006
From what I hear the players are going faster in Hocky than they in Football, because the ice skates lets the players build up more speed faster, than can be done in Football, so the hits are harder.
Average speed on skates is 15 to 25 mph in the NHL.
Sorry to keep on adding bits but hockey players speed on ice averages25 to 35 mph, and Connor McDavid has been clocked at 40 mph. No matter how fast you can run. No human is going torun 25 mph.
What happened to him man 🥲 where did you go
Hey you been bro
react to Conner McDavid one of the best hockey player in terms of skill or Sidney Crosby one of the best of all time
Some of them were legal at the time of the game. Things have changed.
Do derick Henry
The fastest skaters skate faster than fastest runners can rum
Day like 5 of asking for Troy Polamalu.
Also yeah America values athleticism and violence and ferocity over skill. Like if someone is really bad at football but can hit like train, he'll play professionally most likely
I disagree as an American. But imagine this... the art of the hit. Making big hits or taking them but still being a highly skilled top flight athlete. Peter Forsberg/Alex Ovechkin if you will. (Not Americans)
North American Games/Players/Fans don't solely focus on violence. But when you add that element to a highly skilled game you separate out a whole nother level of toughness required to compete. Total package of beautiful toxic masculinity. 20th Century ftw.
non-pro leagues usually have facial protection like cages (wire or plastic).
React to truck and tractor pull fails
Oh there is skill, check out the Sedin twins or Alex Ovechkin
yes, these are clean, legal checks...and this is more brutal than the NFL, they are moving at some clip...hauling ass! Like getting hit by a truck
Check out NHL bloody mess. Watch out for those skates !!
..
You ok man?
