Another thing Bois didn’t mention in the video is that one Cumberland player managed to defect and hide on the Tech sideline, Heisman noticed him and let continue hiding on the Tech bench for the remainder of the game
John Bois is part of Secret Base (another channel youve watched before i believe) and both he and SB make great videos. please check out more vids by both!
John Heisman, yes, the dude the trophy was named after, held Cumberland to their contract after they disbanded the football team, so they used volunteers to play.
At the time this game was played pro football did exist, but the NFL didn't yet. The only NFL team that existed then that's still around today was the Arizona Cardinals (founded 1898). It's not unreasonable that the best football team in the world, at that time, was a college team.
John Heisman was the head football coach of Clemson and Auburn also. He changed Clemsons school colors to Orange and Purple and gave Clemson the Mascot of Tigers... He changed Auburns colors to Orange and Blue and changed their Mascot to Tigers also.
The perfect game. This really is a fantastic channel to watch. I'm glad you found it. I don't watch soccer unless I have to, but my wife is from London (go Chelsea) so I'll be supporting England for the cup. Good luck guys.
Football isn’t like other sports when you get beat this bad it’s not only have you been humiliated in the game but you have been physically beaten to a pulp! Future Doctors, lawyers and teachers playing against pure athletes that live only to play football, never stood a chance!
A game that would never happen today. Back then colleges did not have 70 man rosters. Back then it was the same 11 players playing offense and defense. There was no 2nd, 3rd, or 4th string. It was just the first squad. Hard to tell them to throttle down the natural talent against an outclassed opponent, even if they knew how. These days a coach can put in his backup players knowing they can hold their own against an inferior opponent.
1:02 of course I've been watching the Euros mate! And what is amazing with our time zone is that its the Euros all morning/early afternoon and then we can watch Copa America all late afternoon/evening. Yesterday, I watched five World Class Football matches!
1:10 I'd rate England as the second favorite, mate. Obviously France is the team to beat...Belgium has gotten a lot of hype and they've the talent, but I'd rate England ahead of them. Germany looked better than I expected today against France, despite losing. I don't buy Portugal...I feel like they're overrated. These Spanish and this Italian squads just don't strike me as having what it takes to win it. I think that most likely, it'll either be France or England that wins it.
Considering losing team basically laid down and gave up, the winning team should be embarrassed by ONLY scoring 222. They had the ball almost entire game , option of getting the ball after scoring. This is embarrassing for heisman's team. Not to mention running up the score. Great sportsmanship

The guy tripping over his own teammate who was trying to find his glasses on the field is the funniest part of this to me lol

This takes "I'm just here so I don't get fined" to it's logical extreme

And when the twain shall meet, all may be certain that the Tigers will win!
Jon Bois has some really good videos. “Pretty Good: Koo Dae Sung” is a good video, so is his video on the 1904 Olympic marathon.
