    Use the plastic cap from the grease tube to lift the tab on the other end so you don't have to take off your glove to do it.

    I always had a dream of operating big equipment but I was a machinist my whole life, I'm retired now watching you work. Thanks for your videos. I imagine myself driving that big dump truck with 10 scoops of dirt. LOL

      Trust me it's not that great. Unless you own the company you get paid pennies. And even owning the company you're always under stress and fixing things is expensive and messy. Don't worry you didn't miss a thing! Chris is only successful because the business is family owned and started before he was born. If he tried it on his own he'd have an old mini doing frog ponds. Plus Volvo definitely hooks him up with deals to promote them so yeah...

    As clean as you keep your machines I was surprised to see that you didn’t carry a rag to wipe the excess grease off. Volvo putting the grease zerk banks on there is very handy! Wish you would have let that music play!

    Do you scrape all the dirt off the tracks as well? I do that every day as well as grease

    It's good to see routine maintenance being done . It sure does cut done on costly repairs,...a tube of grease is a lot cheaper than pins and bushings!!

    Take the blue cap you pull off tube of grease to pop the tab off other end so ya ain’t gotta take gloves off

    We have auto-greasers that make it easy but like you say it can make a real mess especially on the boom since everything is greased at the same rate it seems. I wish we could do end of day maintenance seems like a great idea instead of rushing in the morning when you also have the days work etc on your mind as well. I’d rather have the peace of mind of doing it right so that Milwaukee grease gun looks like a better option. There’s a reason why good machines stay looking good 👍

    Started as oiler on a dragline in 1969. Grease came in a 5gal bucket and loaded my greasegun by hand !

    I was taught, when greasing...to wipe off the zert... *Before* you grease, to avoid injecting dirt into the line(s)....Also, to wipe off any excess grease, when you are done, to minimize the dirt and dust collecting on the tip of the zert....but hey.....this may be over kill for some...but it makes for good practice, for better maintenance......good luck.

    We always greased the machines at the end of the day after working them also. Was once told that when the metal is warmed up it takes grease and joints will last longer. I believe it helped. You were kinda huffing and puffing there buddy. Lol. That comes with age. I huff and puff just thinking about work any more.

    Can’t you leave the auto greasing connected and just take it off for the bucket? So that the only manual greasing is the stick. Or do the lines stick out to far even on the stick?
    Also do they have an option so that everything on the machine is auto greasing.

    Just wanted to say thanks again to Chris I had a question and he will stand up character got back to me ASAP with good info I always liked the little details and meticulous videos either it being something simple as greasing and fueling window tint or just doing little touch-up paint on counterweight etc

    When I used to run machines I would check fluids first thing, start the machines and grease and top up while they were warming up.

      Wow I just asked him same question last week he sent me a text back same day 35% all around I was thinking of using pretty much same but was going to put a little later on front glad I spoke with him said it will look like a tunnel

    I've got a question for you Chris, how come you don't get an lubrication system for your excavator? I can not recall seeing a new excavator, backhoe or loader being delivered in Denmark without it, even my Hydrema 906D backhoe with 3500 hours, that's 6 years old has it on, any specefic reason you don't have one?

    Chris, I know that you like to keep your engine covers and fuel caps secured to prevent any problems. Just thought you should know that Mercedes has a locking DEF cap that fits different DEF tanks.

    You don't need to grease the turn-table? Automatic lubricators like Trabon, would help you a lot!

    On our machines we use central lubrication. Once a month we fill them and then the machine greace it self, eacy and clean.

    So I just started working for this company and we have Volvos 250 and 380, I run my 380 hard all day. In various conditions, concrete dust, mud, water, lots if clay and sometimes at the end if the day my machine starts to squeal. Today my boss tells me, "I'm overgreasing the machine, That I need to grease the machine once a week."
    What do you guys think?, and if there are any volvo experts out there. Please respond.

    Chris, we are looking at purchasing a newer backhoe but not new. We are looking at a Cat but I'd be interested in hearing your opinion of a Volvo backhoe. Thanks. I'm from around Surf City NC ( we currently have a 2000 JD 310e)

      Honestly I'd rather have the Deere, good backhoe. Volvo does not make them anymore, they wont the best and parts will prolly be hard to find. You can't go wrong with a Deere, cat or case backhoe

    Been watching your videos for a while now but this is the first time I've commented. I don't think I've found/seen anything in your videos that I disagree with. From running out of grease when you first start greasing to fueling and greasing daily............................................ "Skadill" has a YT channel similar to yours except he likes to go exploring for old equipment a lot. He's into excavators like you, too.(:>)..................I miss moving dirt!!!!(:

    You really need to get a G-gun and never run out of grease. It’s a little costly but worth every penny I bought mine about a year ago and love it. Shit they might give you one.

      The machine is warmer at the end of the day so it's easier to grease.

      Plus if the fuel tank is full of fuel you won’t ever get water in it.

    That sure bears the hell out of squeezing a handle. Good practice doing it at the end of the day instead of the morning. Not bad on the DEF use. I hear the price is dropping.? Thanks for the video. I'm sure you've read that DEF needs to be really clean, no dirt, dust or other contaminants can get in the tank or really bad things can happen, also extended time idling is bad too.
