I wish Arma would come out with an 8s 1/5 scale Mojave or the Fireteam. Those are the only stock bodies i like.
Maybe splurge on some tires that are good enough for that motor.

I have the 1717 on the mmx8s in my kraton exb 6s and have beat the hell out of it on 6 and 8s. The 17 series motor is in my opinion the best can castle has put out.

Sweet motor!
Easy way to clean rc cars: simple green mixed with hot water in a spray bottle...spray on, let sit for 5 or 10, blow off with compressor. if its bad use a soft bristle brush with the simple green.

I've been running a 1650kv in my mojave for over 2 years with a 24t gear. I've never measured top speed but its well above 65mph and my motor never gently gets warm. It's honestly too much for a truck this size. With my paddle tires it pulls wheelies at 40+mph. Couldn't imagine it with any more torque

Love this video! Pretty amazing! I had to make a choice on this one recently. When I spoke to Castle, they stated the 1650kv is rated for higher current and with the same gearing will run cooler than the 1260kv. I'm working on a comparison of it vs the HW 1650 also.
I think you mean the castle 1717 1650 vs 1250 kv. The 1721 is not the same 😎👍
The 1260 will run significantly lower amps than a 1650kv, being it's higher kv and a different wind it will draw amps for more rpm over the 1260. But the 1260kv is a larger can with MUCH more torque. So gear up to compensate and it'll run cooler than the 1650kv given identical speeds. I love it!

Ah, I was off on the can size per B&B RC. Here is what I was referring to per Castle's site:
Castle: "NOTE: The 1717-1260kv has a lower wattage/power rating compared to the 1717-1650kv; as such the 1260kv will run hotter than the 1650kv when geared for the same speed. For higher power applications (IE speed and drag setup), the 1717-1650kv is preferred with appropriate gearing."
I'll be sure to grab the 1721!

So in the Mojave specifically, the 1717 1650kv will do the same thing just faster, and it gets a little warm but not hot. I was doing baseball park diamond drifting at full throttle on 8S.

How is that motor with the Mamba X 8s ESC? I have the 2080 800kv with MX8s ESC and want to downsize the motor to save some weight and lower the center of gravity. A Castle tech told the upgrade my ESC to XLX2 for this motor.
What is appropriate gearing then?

Running slicks off-road kinda limits how much strain being given the by quite a bit doesn't it?
Regardless it has been winding high rpm while still moving the Mojave for over 45 minutes, ridiculous in my opinion

What the gearring?
This with the MMX8S in an xmaxx would be a lighter weight super powerful system. Same for the Kraton and outcast 8s.

I'm running the exact combo in my xmaxx. Tried it in my XRT as well and it does pretty good. Will hopefully have some video posted soon.

I bash the hell outta my 2400kv
That is not 15 hp
The wheels no longer have a profile and therefore no grip. Most of the surface you use is gravel/sand and again no grip. A more realistic image would be that you had a lots of grip on the tires and surface. If you have the money to put this motor and ESC on it, it is a shame that you did not put 4 tires on it that had grip. The engine and drivetrain will suffer from this and everything gets more hot. Also show us that you put the ESC in the best traction mode so that not all the great functions of the ESC remain unused. If I imitate your tests with my "standard" version Mojave that has a cheap simple fan on the engine, I can also get away with these temperatures. From what I see, my Mojave V2 is also a lot wilder with 6S. Could also be the driving style of course.
None of your lipos are in stock. That sucks.
Always the false assumption that lower kv means more torque. 😏
