If any of you guys were puzzled at where these motors stand, this video will help solve some of your questions. We discuss the 14, 15, 17 and 20 series motors and what the applications are for the optimal setup.

Awesome info and details man. I just got a mamba x8s combo and came with the 1650kv motor, went to install on my xmaxx and the motor was bad from factory had to send it back. Can’t wait to get it installed and keep bashing around. Thanks again for the info and all your videos. Stay safe

Great video. Question, I have a e-revo 1/16 and Im looking to acheieve 70+mph, which one of these motors would you recommend. Thank you so much for the info bro, I'm new to the game and this was very helpful! I'm very ignorant when coming to motor and ESC upgrades, I have an ARRMA Mojave and I love it. I was only looking for a mild upgrade for it so I bought a Castle 1512 and a Mamba monster X 25.2 volt ESC.....I hope I did ok, as like I said I'm just looking for a minor to mild upgrade. Great video and great information I’m thinking about setting up a typhon basher do you think the castle 2650kv motor paired with the mamba monster x 6s esc will be a good set to go with to bash?
I’ll tell you this is one of those videos that every Large RC channel should be doing. As you know, it is not what they do because going to a skate park and running an RC car up their butt while they scream and yell is what the “people” want. Thanks for giving this your thoughts and time.

A lot of people mainly review one motor, but for now on I will be doing more ultimate motor comparisons for any new motor castle comes out with. I'm waiting on an infraction v2, and I know I'm going to upgrade. So what do you think xlx2 combo or tp big can with xlx2. Bashing and running a little over 100mph.

I have a version one E Revo 1/10 vxl and just smoked my stock 2200kv motor due to improper gearing after mounting up some larger diameter/ heavier belted tires, so I'm in the market for a new motor now. What motor would you recommend that will be good for bashing and speed, one that will give me just overall versatility. Still running the stock 6s capable ESC which is a castle. I'm new to the RC world so I appreciate the help. Thanks in advance.

Great information for motor selection. Wanted to eventually convert my summit to a badger like the erevo 2.0 what motor esc and gear set up should I run castle of course?
I would look into a mamba monster X 8s with the 2200kv motor. I wouldn't go 1717 because the summit has a plastic gear switching transmission I believe. 1717 will obliterate it haha
I'm looking at upgrading my Traxxas 4 Tec 2.0 to a brushless and trying to weigh out going Traxxas VXL-3s or a Castle Motor. Any recommendations on which Castle motor? It would be for racing, not necessarily full on speed runs. Thank you!

According to your video.the 1717 is it good replacement for the stock spectrum setup in the felony? I see a lot of them paired up with the monster x 8s.

Great video buddy 👏🏻👏🏻. For my requirements the 1515 22 is my go to motor for most of my rigs. In the LMT its a beast, torque city man, in my V3 Talion it can consisantly do over 100mph. Bang for buck it kicks ass
I’m thinking off getting me the mmx 8s/1717 1650kv combo for my infraction. Is that a solid combo for speed runs? I did 95,1mph with stock electronics and 25T pinion. I’m aiming to get around 120mph. I have the chnl 3s 5200 90C batteries
So I'm getting a 30-degree North Losi 5T clone and I'm going to be running the castle 800kv but I came across a great deal on a lightly-used sensorless 800kv and I was wondering if you could talk about your experiences advantages disadvantages between the two(sensored vs sensorless) and keep in mind I'm a Basher I'm not going to be using the sensor at all I don't care to so the sensor doesn't matter but what improvements does the newer one have or will I see little to no difference

What do you think will push the castle 1650 better? The spektrum 150amp 6s esc or the mamba monster x 120amp 6s esc?

Can I use the second to last motor in my 10th scale 4x4 slash??? If so what esc and motor gear do you recommend??? I want the max speed possible... I'm not worried about overheating as I only go in bursts of 5-10 mins... would eventually get a cooling fan for the motor...

The 1717 motor, insanely efficient on 6s. You can also run it on 8s if you want more torque

I'd say you can go smack in the middle of those gears for all around use. Go with a 15t. Or run 20t and run 2s all day!
Great video! my friend use 1512 1800kv with 6s lipo on kraton 6s and has no issues but manual says that its 3-4s capable. how can it take 6s?
The rating on most motors are actually underrated to have people stay within a performance threshold so it doesn't void the warranty or consistently destroy the rotor

I'd probably look into that 2200kv on 6s. Or, get a 1512 2650kv and run 4-5s to keep it light

What's up, yes you can. I'd run a heatsink on it to keep temps lower though.

Is it possible to run a tp 2810kv motor on a max5 for speed runs. Mine you that motor is only 6s drag or speedrun
Thanks a lot for this great vid. I am looking for a sensored motor for my 8S Super Rock Rey. The stock motor has 750kv, 16t pinion, 37t spur. Unfortunately the 800kv castle motor is too long so the 1717 you mentioned might be an idea. Any recommendations on gearing? Even an 11t it might still be too high.
I would probably run maybe 10 on the pinion and invest in some fan/ heatsink combo for it.
Innovation RC thanks for the quick reply. I am having a hard time finding one that fits (mod 1.5, 5mm shaft, 10t), and then I’d probably also need a custom motor mount. I am still hoping that one day castle builds a sensored motor that’s shorter than the 800kv. I get a lot of cogging with the castle 8S esc and the stock 750kv sensorless motor. ;-)

I went with a Leopard 58113 V2 1050Kv Max5 @8’s I am trying 33/33 1.5Mod ..my questions is with my set up could you Suggest my Possible best Gear ratio..I don’t need Super speed but I want it to Flip on a Dime if possible..I appreciate any Help in advance..Ty

I just bought the Arrma Infraction and wanting to do the 8s conversion what is this the best combination over the Hobbywing Ez Run Max 6 V3 with a Poseidon Pro 1800kv 8s? Running 1520 series 1650kv or a higher or lower kv ? Do you think 1650kv is the best kv to go with what options and performance i have choosing a motor Thanks
If your at 1650 or lower you'll be legit for 8s. Just gear accordingly!

What would happen if you put the 1415 series in a 1/16
Which motor would you recommend for a 1/8th scale e revo ( 6s power) for maximum speed, the 15, 17 or 20 (stock can run up to 70mph)? Also for a 1/10th scale maxx with belted 3.8 inch trencher tires ( max stock speed is 60mph 4s) (4s-6s lipo)? They are both around the 11-15 pound range. If possible I would also like to have good torque and acceleration but speed on both on-road and off-road is mainly what I am looking for since either of the three motors should be able to provide enough power for the cars. The Kv rating as well as the motor and esc is what I need to know.
I'd go 1515 because a 17 series is too thick to fit in the motor mount
I have the 1406 7700kv planning to put it on a Traxxss Slash Drag. If do what pinion Tooth should I run my spur gear is at 86T. Thanks
I would start with a 23t pinion gear, if you are doing the 2s street eliminator class, do one pull and if it isn't enough from there go up 2 teeth on the pinion at a time. Should result another 3-4 mph per 2 teeth
I just got the new 1520 1650kv castle first time owner usually buy hw motors but I have to ask why is it so hard to turn shaft vs hw motor shaft is mine broken or that’s how castle motors are

2200 would be way better for the Kraton. I would go with the 1717 though. That's the big block of the 2200kv. Perfect for bashing

I would certainly go 1515 2200kv. Larger but not overkill, run it on 3-4s gear it high and it'll run amazing

I had a 20t pinion in mine and it was pretty insane. Did not gps it but it was craziness on grass, and on hoons for the street. It could have had a bigger pinion on it but it was very nice for all around fun.

The 2028 would be a solid upgrade. To be honest if Castle made a 2028 that's 1100kv and that's a little shorter that would be perfect. The stock motor is the same size as castles 1717. The hobbywing 5687 1100kv is what we need next from Castle. Because it's a huge jump from 1717 to 2028. Need a middle man

Subscribed! I am currently working on an arrma vendetta. Based off my research, I am about to pull the trigger on purchasing a Castle MMX8s Esc with a 1717 motor. What I intend to do with the Vendetta is just speedruns. No bashing. In your experience if I run this on 8s and utilize the same gearing I have now, which is a 44T Spur w/slipper eliminated and a 32T pinion. This thing should absolutely fly? Or am I setting myself up for a disaster? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Please!🙏
Go with a 2200kv and an X8s. The 17 series is too thick and won't fit. The 2200 is great to run on 4/6s that won't be too big to fit. Thanks for subscribing!
@@InnovationRC I really thought the 1717 would fit and I got it today and it looks like it is more of an issue of where do I put the esc. Even putting it on top of the receiver box won’t cut it. I have a v2 limitless brand new in the box. I guess I’ll put it in that Crap!

Absolutely, the 1250kv is the exact size of the 1717 shown @10:00
