I've been playing this game since it came out in like 1999 and I never knew about the badge of courage.
Same much, knew other stuff but never had idea badge of courage nullifyes mind magic. Helps to make one of my fav hero even more op :)

we played this game with friends when I was kid. when I was 21 years old I played with room mate. now I'm 27 and I have this on steam and I'm still learning about this game :D
It could be a miss on the developers part to not add that in the description for most items they have.
You're such a small channel but heroes 3 has a special place in my heart so watching you is oddly satisfying.

me neither. And I'm not sure but I believe I've heard someone a few days ago that other tier 7 creatures can be upgraded to dragons, too. Behemots and Angels I think, but like I said, I'm not sure about this. Some dedicated freak should test this and then share the result with my lazy ass :)

The harpies attacking dendroids and getting to return to their original position but still getting binded is pretty funny.

When the video started and jousting came up i was thinking i'd be dissapointed. but some of these were incredibly useful! Not only did you confirm my suspicions on ballistics, I also didn't knew there such good tricks such as the champions and badge of courage. ty

The one about the hydras becoming bone dragons blew me away! I play this game for what? 18 years? And still new secrets can be unveiled.
I think there was a tiny hint in Armageddon's Blade for the Fortress campaign, where on one map, bone dragons guard a set of hydra ponds, and the flavour text explains the bone dragon stack 'multiplies' by killing hydras as they emerge and adding them to their numbers.
@@cdcdrr Yea I think I vaguely remember that to, the reason I think most people likely never knew is because its so rare for it to be necessary to turn hydras in a necro stronghold. Maybe if you play necropolis and have captured a fortress castle with late tier units.
same with sea serpents/haspids in HotA
I've been playing HOMM3 for almost 2 decades now (on and off) and I didn't know about this info on the magic elementals until now. Very useful information.
Now I can plan how I manage the battlefield when they are present. Which units should I make them attack? Which units should I use to attack them? Which artifacts should I wear during the battle?.. All the good stuff.
about the ballistic skills in castle attacks, what if the enemy has expert machinery, I believe that skill lets you controll the shooting towers, and if I'm correct shooting towers take turns before catapults :)
Actually, you are right. Artillery will give control over the castle shooters, and then I could cast a spell. So it should be corrected to "unless the hero as artillery" :)
by the way, this just shows how good the game is, even nearly 20 years later there is still stuff that might be new to fans of the game

another thing about ballistic skill is that if you aim for the main tower, the catapult will *always* hit the top wall next to the highest archer tower

You cannot land a boat where a hole has been dug. So you can terraform landscapes and make impenetrable shorelines.

The harpy remains bound even the after dendroid¨s move. I think normally the binding disappear, if dendroid dies or moves. I think it is also possible to force dendroind to attack the second one (via berserker). They will bind each other with attack and retaliation. But I have never tried that yet.

But did you know that even with orb of vulnerability you still cannot blind undead units?
Did you know that you always start first if you have the same creature with highest speed as your opponent (For an exaple both with phoenix)
Did you know that the only spell working on a Black dragon is Mass Dispell ?
Did you know that a non necromancer hero can get a Necromancy ability from witch`s hut ?
Knew all of it except the last one :-)
It is possible but it happens rarely
It can also get it from random Scholars from the map.
Badge of Courage is a bug. It's been fixed in most mods and HD version.
I see a lot of fans. Hota patch did everything i wanted in heroes 3 (ez army swap,autosave everymove,quick battle u can fight after if not happy) . So anyone knows some good custom maps with a good story. Similiar to Gold Heary an Sandor Folly. I recommend those 2 to anyone

When I saw the "demonstration clip" for the stable upgrade for Cavaliers, I knew the map was very familiar... and indeed, TEW2!

one other fact about jousting:
bonus damage depends not on how many hexes was covered before attack, it depends on distance between start hex and hex where target is staying.
in some situations it is not the same.
e.g. when you need to go around some barrier to attack, there can be situation when end point is realy near the start point, in that case bonus will be low, even if unit walked many hexes.
That's not true at least in the original game. I remember carefully moving cursor to go around the unit and the damage prediction would change.
@@jankoodziej877 That is also what I experienced. Maybe op worded it wrong and the bonus damage depends on the distance between your starting and ending position. This can easily be tested if there is an obstruction. If you f.e. have to go down because of the obstruction, then look at the damage numbers. If the higher spot has more damage, then op is talking bs. If the higher spot does less damage, then it probably works as I described.

i think the harpies and efreeti sultans are bugs or glichtes..while the hydra thing actually works with all types of dragons (except bone dragons) and hydras
I like this "stone golem petrified". This should be an upgrade for golem but it's not.

Ballistic secondary will not allow you to cast first if the sieged hero has Artillery. Arrow towers are the highest priority in the game.

Did you know that you can use the cyclops to attack the siege of the walls and it's double strike :)

Never know about magic elementals but then protection spells reduce its dmg too? Or immune magic spell from earth school?

I've been playing the game since its release and still didn't know that the stablemaster upgrades cavaliers for free or that the pikemen are immune to the jousting thing or even the badge of courage thing.

To be fair, I only didn't know the last one.
There is also a glitch that if a spell is casted and all of the remaining troops die the enemy AI sometimes just lives with just his hero and 0 troops. Happend to me sometimes and I play this game since 2003 haha
I believe the badge of courage mind immunity trick is fixed in the HoTA mod, but I've never seen anything to confirm this. Speaking of mind immunity, another interesting fact is that AI will never cast Berserk spell.
Not so long ago we played allied hot-seat multiplayer with a friend, and the AI used Berserk

I didn't know the Badge of courage thing... And the Magic Elemental disability.
I wonder if Magic Elemental does only half damage to units immune to magic, maybe Psychic Elemental does only half damage to units immune to mind spells.

Does that last interaction consume the Efreet's retaliation? So if the first attacker dies to the fire shield, will it still retaliate against a second attacker or that retaliation is gone?

They changed the look of the pikeman in Horn of the Abyss.

For every corresponding
creature dwelling you flag it increases their growth in your town but not sure how it's so high for some. He may also have all the Legion artifacts to boost growth. Another one is the grail but it's not built in his town.

they did, in the form of 'Heroes 3 HD Edition'. it was trash. The 'Heroes 3 HD *MOD*' however, is way better, and the best part- its free to download!
RiscoDisco I have HD and yeah it's nothing special. I was hoping for something more. I only have a chomebook so can't download mod version
there's the HD mod which makes the game a lot smoother and adds an online lobby where you can easily play with other players. also there's a fourth (unofficial) expansion called horn of the abyss which adds a new faction, new artifacts and creatures, as well as improves A LOT of stuff, while staying very close to the original feeling of the game. check it out. if you have HotA + HD mod, you can use the online lobby where you will find ~500 players daily.
dummdumm muddmudd wow 500. So happy to see the community is that big. I assume it's not available on chrome though? So this HD mod you speak of. Is it different to the Homm 3 HD released by Ubisoft?
Also would it be available on Linux? Chromebooks are getting Linux support soon so would be perfect
Did you know that some of these are true? Most things you listed here are only came with mods, or fanmade expansions.
