The guy is careful to state that the list is mostly his opinion based on how cool the factions look for him and his playstyle in general, states that they are all decent at the end of the day and even mentions while going through the list that a certain faction is actually considered very strong by most but he doesn't like to play it as much so he's putting it lower. Still didn't stop a horde of spastics raging in the comments section because some faction is not where it should be.
Had similar thoughts. It is an opinion based video, but he tries to address different variables of each faction. I find it amusing that so many people would dislike this. I am not reading below this, as I do not want to get sucked into the wormhole.
@@layelaye why not? It's HIS tier list, based on what he finds most fun to play. A tier list doesn't have to mean most powerful, can be based on looks, performance, efficiency, how good a faction is early or late, etc. It's also subjective by nature and it is virtually impossible to make a tier list that everyone will agree with. Best you can do is try to find what the most common opinion is.
@@SirMcAwesome but... this tier list has no interest then... no more than MY tier list, but no one want to watch that, so why watching this one? because of the vague title... so, people are pissed

showed the game too my sibling who is 13 years now and he loves it more than lol and fortnite :P the problem is it doesn't have word of mouth with you young people today, if not it would still be played as hell.
@@yuripantyhose4973 not that it's not a great game (I would know, after all I still play it today xD), but... I think part of why your sibling loves HoMM more than LoL is because it allows for more freedom and creating stuff at your own pace. In LoL you have to adapt to your team's gameplay, and you rarely have time to enjoy the graphics, whereas with Heroes you just take your time to explore everything. I remember when I have first stumbled upon Heroes 3 that it's taken me over 6 full months to learn the basics... and I was only playing Rampart, cause I knew about Pegasi, and centaurs, and because gold dragons looked so cool. I was 19 years old at that time, and I had no idea what HoMM was (I haven't played H1 or H2 before, nor have I heard anything about them previously so I could relate), and I have been still amazed by all of the things (creatures, upgrades, beautiful colours, skills, artefacts, and so on). Like I said, it's taken me over 6 months (probably close to 8, or 9 months) to learn the game before I even considered playing another faction. And when I say "learn the game" I don't mean tactics, I mean just being able to win a fight against the AI on easy mode while turtling in my own castle xD .... Oh, the memories.... Anyway, I'm glad your sibling likes the game, cause a game like Heroes 3 deserves a hell lot more recognition and players, even today....
This game is something special. Every creature from any book, mythology or just a story is included in this game. They are so many options you can choose from. I love Heroes 3.. the turn base idea, the massive map with hidden dangers and rewards literally on every corner, the dungeons to explore, the beautiful book with all the spells you can imagine.. and more. This is a complete game experience!! I remember playing it twenty years ago with friends on the same computer, waiting for each one of us to complete their turn, it was awesome! I really really hoped for many years now that some game developer will see the beauty of this game and take it to a other level (like they did with Star Craft. They took the game and created a masterpiece just because they've kept the original authentic look and mechanics of the game and only improved them in Star Craft 2). This was very important in order not to lose the fans. Instead Heroes 4 and any other Heroes game after that was a step away from the original look of Heroes 3.. and that's why they were so disappointing. I am still hoping till this day..
yeah heroes 3 is the best. played Heroes 3 when I was 10yrs. old now Im 31 and Im still playing this game with my older brother and my uncle when we have freetime to play! hahaha
Me and my friends played this when we were 8 now we are 26 and we still play it hot seat every winter and it seriously is as fun and exciting every time aw it was over 20 years ago. Legendary game
Homm was real-time at first (besides combat)... was bought up from russians and turned into turnbased.. King's Bounty is the godfather :D the people who made King's Bounty series actually are the authors of this game :) Tier list of this video is comedy at best... he clearly doesn't play competitively in HotA... personal tier list i guess : )
@@gubunki Necropolis also has the overpowered Vampire Lord to carry it through midgame. So really the only weakness of Necro is the super super super early game, but then Necro heroes get Earth magic skill very easily which is very strong early game.
I absolutely LOVE that artifact as a Necropolis player, mostly because, as the only ranged unit for the Necro, your Liches are always under CONSTANT attack from enemy ranged units and thus get depleted a lot over the campaign.
I remember playing online against one dude from finland like 10 years ago. It was like most fun match i ever had. I was inferno with spellcaster hero with shtload of mana and spellpower and he was dungeon overlord. after initial skirmish with our main heroes he runned away. i was pissed, but i had ace in a hole.I found and purchased shackles of no retreating. was giggling at my little evil plan xD After finally chasing hem down to finish hem off once and for good, we had our final fight. But then i realized i cant cast any spells!! Dude bought freaking anti casting artifact from artifact merchant and i pretty much killed myself haha xD best game ever :)
This game is one of the best ever made when it's era is taken into account. I play it to this day. We all have our favourite 1 or 2 or 4 factions but to be honest I like all of them. I could go into more detail on where towns rank but nows not the time! There is a board game coming out soon, kickstarter to launch. It looks great with the aesthetic.
Here is the actual real tier list by someone who played this game since release: S tier: Necro and Conflux(with Luna) A tier: Castle(A++ just barely not S tier) and Dungeon B tier: Rampart and Fortress C tier: Stronghold (on lower MMR this town is higher between A and B, falls off pretty hard on higher levels sadly) D tier: Tower (maybe E tier on big maps) F tier: Inferno (really bad, basically unplayable in PvP)
Great video. Stronghold has the best theme music. I had an OCD moment at 1:31 “Hydra can attack all surrounding creatures” (Shows video of hydra attacking one creature)
Fortress Is one of the fastest expanding castle. There is lots of tactics to use Serpent Flies (very fast units) Lizardsman, viverns early in the game. Before Tower upgrade mages we have 3 castles and powerful mixed army.
I'm a die hard fan of Dungeon. Been my favorite for 20 years. I love it's theme, the heroes, and the units. You have three units that can fly (Scorpicores, black dragons, and harpy hags) plus two units who dish out ranged damage. The evil eyes, once you've got a massive amount of them are ridiculously powerful for their tier. I absolutely love the dungeon and it's always my go to. However Necropolis is my second favorite. Love those guys
I always loved the fortress town the most! xD So many cool abilities among their creatures. But yeah, not particularly strong xD . Lvl 3 max magic guild was really bad.
Try and capture with Tazar any other faction town as early as possible. That's my best bet for survival as the level 3 magic guild combined with slow creatures is a huge hindrance for late game.
@@HiilandKew I agree, it's far from the best but it has its uses. It can really shine on small maps with limited resources because everything is just so cheap there, that's why I like it a lot.
Inferno? Never heard of it. Really though it's right after Fortress. List videos are pretty much entirely based on opinion and this is the order I picked... still, thanks for watching. It's a great game though, we can at least agree on that right?
I was really shocked to see Fortress come up in the begining. Inferno is considered the worst town, but many people don't agree with Fortress either. In the end they are both good, I would say Inferno is harder to play, but it can really stack some serious damage, easily rivals Stronghold
yeah, the moment I saw that Fortress is the worst town in his ranking I have stopped caring for what this moron has to say. As someone who has had his ass whooped most of the time in hotseat games (some 17-18 years ago when I played Heroes 3 like a maniac with my friends) Fortress has been the town that has brought me the most victories. And not because I am particularly good with Fortress, but simply because Tazar is too strong of a hero, especially in late game like we used to play back then. Actually, Tazar + Fortress are a strong combination, but even so, Fortress is too strong IF played right, that is.
@S D on paper you are right. In practice, you aren't, I have just played a game last year (against the AI, but the facts remain) where the last standing unit in my army have been the dendroids. I have had about 8800 of them and they were dealing 415k damage to Titans, and you wouldn't expect this kind of damage from a defensive creature against the almighty Titan, especially since the AI's hero had +10 ATT and DEF more than my hero. That's one thing.... The second thing, most of my victories in hotseat mode against my friend have come when I have played Tazar, and some of those victories have been against Crag Hack (yeah, my friend has been a huge fan of CH, and of offense in general). So again, your statement is only true in theory. In practice defense wins most of the time
@Neverlandia you might want to get a life, mr. "pro". Living to play Heroes all the time is not healthy for you (mentally speaking), And with this, I'm out. Feel free to rage alone behind the keyboard cause I ain't replying to you anymore.
i LOVE nearly all of the factions on an aesthetic level but conflux is by far one of my favorites. i've always, always held it dear to my heart. rampart too. then dungeon and tower. honestly about all of them. this game is so nostalgic and revisiting it has been wonderful :')
Conflux 6º? conflux is 2º or 1º Depends of Necropolis place. And Fortress is way better. *_Baned Tier SSS_* Necropolis Conflux *_Tier A_* Dungeon Castle *_Tier B_* Stronghold Fortress Rampart *_Tier C_* Tower *_Tier No One Likes You_* -Inferno-
Necropolis is the #1 for me with Thant as the most efficient hero in the early game. Fortress is my second option because of Tazar but it lacks 4/5 lvl mageguild and that is a huge drawback. Truth is whoever gets town portal and earth magic first will have a great advantage. I always play on impossible so heroes that provide gold are great assets. Alas Lord Haart is no more.
Tower imo is my favorite. Sure it may be expensive, but once you get going you are virtually unstoppable. With spell casting genies and 3 teirs of shooters with a good chance of earth and air mastery and a better chance at getting those OP spells (mass haste, mass slow, chain lightning, and town portal), you are hopping from town to town mowing armies before the cross the battlefield. There is something very satisfying about that.
You nailed it. But note the drawback---it's expensive and tends to play better in larger maps because of it. I often love to play Dungeon or Tower on small maps for the sheer challenge. They aren't easy early game if pushed
Great video. I love all the factions, but Rampart is probably my favourite. I simply can't go past that wonderful fantasy and nature aesthetic, like a place I'd love to visit. Castle is probably the most well-rounded in my opinion, but Dungeon is also very fun to play.
Conflux is by far the best and there is a reason it's always banned in competative play. Main reasons 1 sprites With their absurd speed and no relation abilities you get a jump start on every other fraction that is just out of comparison. 2 Phoenix It's the only fraction getting a 4 (2 base) growts lv 7 creatures making them absurd by them selfs on top of this they have regeneration abilitys, one of the most broken abilities in the game and one of the reasons Necropolis is the second strongest fraktion(after necromancy) adding this when you already have double growth is absurd. On top of this, the building to get them is also easier to get than most level 7 buildings. 3 fire imunity The fraction have 3 different creatures with fire immunity making it the hands down strongest fraktion for the Armageddon strategy, one of the best strategys in the game. On top of this they get to build their mage guild to max level (5) and have two range units while alot of weaker fraktions are stuck at mage guild lv 3-4 and with only one ranged unit. In really long games they also have access to the artifact market being able to throw away unnecessary resources on powerfull artifacts AND they have the University making them able tonget expert in the most important magic for their current strategy such as mass slow/haste or expert geddon. Now while the grail almost never is relevant it is kinda funny how the already by far most broken factiom also have the best grail building. Also the stats of the wind elementals are way to high and that is one of the creatures evolving into a ranged unit.
i usually pick the Tower , and the lookout tower is my first upgrade to see my surrounding area for Minerals , plus this castle has an Artifact Dealer and 2 level 5 spells in the Mage Tower level 5 , and i was very happy to find out i can change these spells too , but can be very costly in Minerals doing this 2 or 3 times to try and get what you prefer , and when the big war is Finally over you have your Titans left if nothing else
@@u9vata that's a mechanic added in unofficial Horn of the Abyss expansion, you can reroll a spell in your mage guild for a price equal to building a mage guild corresponding to a level of researched spell so if you want to reroll a level 4 spell you have to pay as much as for buying a whole new level 4 mage guild
Tier list inc S tier: Necropolis and Conflux -Necropolis really only has issues in the very early game, before they can get their Necromancy ramp to good efficiency. Strong mid-tier units backs them up nicely, with Tier 4 and Tier 6 units probably standing as the best in these slots overall. Tier 7 unit is bad, but who cares, at that point you should already have a bajillion skeletons in your mass. Conflux on the other hand doesn't have any units that absolutely excel, but they make up for this with a very, very easy and strong spellbook combined with blistering speed on several units. And of course, if you get your hands on Armageddon, you can do the supreme Dragmageddon strategy at ultimate speed with your Phoenix leading the nuclear missile, though you'll have to seize a town capable of producing Armageddon in their Mage Guild to do so. Magic resistances are cute, though target spells are rarely used (people favor mass-buff/mass-debuff spells like Expert Haste/Slow) A tier: Castle and Rampart Castle is overall the master jack-of-all-trades, having no slots in the recruitment roster feeling underwhelming as well as having one of the best, if not the actual best, T7 unit. You rarely can go wrong with this town, as it's strong early, mid and late, though it fails to shine through in the same way that Necropolis and Conflux does where those civs have a really streamlined and extremely powerful gameplan beyond just playing strong units (Necro's skeleswarm, Conflux magic). No access to Mage Guild 5 also hurts. Rampart however is more teetering between A and B as it is a cut below Castle with a really mediocre midgame. However it might just have the strongest early game in the game, with Centaur Captains being absurdly strong and Grand Elves being solid early game shooters. Rampart also has access to the strongest economy in the game, with treasury giving you a great longterm value and their units being on a relatively cost-efficient price. Though the midgame really can't be understated, as Pegs, Ents and Unicorns tend to feel a bit lackluster at times. They have access to dragons, meaning Dragmaggeddon is a possibility, though you'll have to seize a town capable of producing Armageddon in their Mage Guild to do so. B tier: Dungeon, Tower and Stronghold Dungeon is also teetering between A and B, though I'd say it's below Rampart in it's efficiency. Dungeon has access to tons of strong utility units as well as two ranged units (one could argue Harpy Hags also belong as a third), but their other slots seem to be a bit on the weak side. Manticores are hot garbage, trogs are a swarm-type of unit but really weak at that, though Minotaurs pack a strong punch. Sadly, the town's biggest issue is that it's a bit on the slow side, and that it's fairly expensive. It also lacks a point in the game where it shines above all the others, which it's closest comparison in Rampart has, without the benefit of a strong eco-building. They do however have one f the best Heroes in the game, Gunnar, with his specialty being Logistics. Tower is strong. Very strong. But so slow. And so, so, so expensive. Access to three ranged units, strong magic, and Master Genies are really nice, though the issues do appear. From their midgame-onwards, all of their buildings have a hefty cost on all the resources, meaning it's exposed until it can get it's economy running safely. Though, a ecostrong Tower is a terrifying opponent, and access to Mage Guild 5 really helps this out. Sadly, the power of Tower won't be seen until late, lategame, and such it can't go higher. Stronghold is in B tier for one reason, and one reason only; they have the best Hero class in the game. As well as the best combat hero, Crag Hack. Their units are overall on the weaker side, and their speed is slow, but the strength of Crag Hack can really make up for this. One of the best ways to use Stronghold is to get a strong, early Crag and then take out a base with better units fast; ironically fitting the Town that's based on swarming out the opposition. Tier 3 Mage Guild locked sucks, but you generally only want Expert Haste with Crag anyways. C Tier: Fortress Slow, bulky, "the best offense is a defense". It's by no means a bad town, it just really lacks any strong suits beyon being extremely annoying to beat. When playing Fortress, you truly live up to the name of the Town by being a walking fortress, though your only real claim to power is in Gorgons and their proc. Beyond that, you have a weak early game, an okay midgame and a weak lategame; though there's some truth to the slow and bulky playstyle of the Town, in that it's sturdiness can be awfully challenging to overpower at times. F Tier: Inferno It's only claim to fame is it's high chance to get Armageddon in the Mage Guild. Other than that, everything about the Town feels awful. It's poorly costed, Imps just suck, Gogs can be argued to outdo their promoted Magogs simply because the fireball can hurt your own troops, Hellhounds is basically the best unit you get access to, demons are awful (slow, weak), Pit Lords are cute, Eefret are worse than their counterpart in Tower and Devils only offer speed. You CAN use Devils for fast Armageddons, but their lack of Fire immunity makes it risky though probably still cost-efficient, so there's that. Sadly, the demons really do suck. ... SSS tier: Any hero with Expert Town Portal
@@coolchrisable Glad to hear it. Yeah, no town is without it's flaws, it's all about making the strengths more pevalent than the weaknesses after all ^^
Anyone who plays this game on a decent level knows there is no real weak/strong factions. There are easier and harder ones yes, but the goal remains the same: who can exploit the broken mechanics in this game in the best way :D
But there definitely are weaker/stronger factions though. It all depends on the map size - Fortress and Stronghold are very good at S and M size maps due to their excellent early game, but when it comes to L and XL maps towns like Dungeon, Tower and especially Necropolis shine the most. If we include H, XH and G size maps from HoTa, no one comes close to the Necropolis.
@@Wolfnacht sure and the more competitive the setting the more town choice matters. But when playing friends its very likely that town wont be the main factor in who wins but rather the skill (and item rng i guess) :)
My favorite faction was and is the Rampart Town. Mostly because I love the theme song and could listen to it for hours. Then there are the elves and unicorns, a fantasy lover's dream. My personal second favorite is the Tower Town, thanks to the mages and Titans.
You forgot to mention how the skeleton transformer turns dragons and hydras into bone dragons, allowing you to build a staggering number of them for your primary force if there's a bunch of creature generators from which to draw fodder. This town is broken, and heaven help the player who faces a Necropolis player who's obtained the Cloak of the Undead King, which is insultingly easy to do.
I think ranking the towns has to take into consideration other factors as well, like map size. In a small map Necropolis gets easily beaten by Fortress since when Fortress can have up to 10 wyverns, the Necropolis will be struggling to get 150 skeletons and a few wights. I may make a video about it on my channel If I ever get the time for it.
You nailed it, to the "T." Get on a small map and I'll take Fortress or Stronghold every day of the week and twice on Sunday. The difference is significant, especially if your opponents are playing something like Tower or Dungeon. It takes TIME and RESOURCES to build those up. Of course, once those get going, they are difficult to slow down, but the game can be won early on sometimes
I was an online player in the past. I specialize in using Stronghold (Gurnisson as hero -Ballista) and Fortress. I don't compete with other players if the map is not set to Impossible, (not a dime of initial reaources, except for the bonus you selected.) Aim for a 1st week Behemoth, and look for Logistics, Ranged and Artillery. Better if you can get Cyclops rather than Behemoth on the 1st week ( My fav setup for Small to Large Maps). I usually win with this set up on the second week, or early 3rd week. For XL, I don't select Gurnisson. Instead, I use Crag Hack or Shiva as initial hero. In this map size. I always look for Air Magic and Logistics as priority. Seeking speed boosting artifacts to get that initial strike. You should aim for a 15 speed (Shiva can help) Thunderbirds, so that even if a castle hero uses Mass Haste (except for haste specialty hero or grass terrain) you'll get that very important "second turn" after the Archangels attacked. This leaves the Archangels vulnerable to all of your units, provided that you have mass slow. If the Castle Player opted to wait, it will be a massacre after you cast Mass Haste. This is why 15 speed on a Thunderbird is very important when playing Stronghold. Provided that you don't drag thr game too long.
I play fortress most of the time actually, and for thee main reasons 1: Debuffs can win you the game, especially with how quick serpent flies are and how each shot with the lizard warrior can inflict poison. 2: Cheap cost can make you play pretty quickly, expanding faster than other towns 3: I like lizards and stuff, ok... their cool... I also mostly play against friends and not competitive, so I don’t have much of a taste for competitive play, so I don’t really know how fortress plays out in that type of match. I just felt I should put my opinion out there. Extra thoughts: Movement artifacts allow you to decimate other armies, or for the opponents archers, especially early-game, spells can dispatch them pretty easy
This looks more like a list based on your preferences. The actual power level list (based on Shadow of Death version of the game) loos like this: Broken as hell: 1. Necropolis - Necromancy skill. This can win the game by itself just because it can harvest all the creatures into skeletons. Galtharan / Isra / Vidomina are good on any faction. 2. Conflux - Sprites and Storm Elementals are absolutely insane. Grinden with Slow in the book and earth magic as a beginning skill which is absolutely insane snowball potential. All of these along with cheap base creatures and the fastest lvl 7 in game + 4 lvls 7 per week to get an absolute monster stomping everything you see. A Tier: 3. Rampart - Good start with kyrre and upgraded elves which are by far the best level 3 in game, competing with lvl 4 and some lvl 5 units. The elves can clear the whole early game content by themselves, not to mention the centaurs and the pegasi which offer you the edge in early game thanks to their speed and 2 square constitution. Add the green and Gold dragon to all of these and you get some powerful army to clear the map. All these come with the price of expensive level 7 unit and pretty low mobility and damage or too squishy creatures, except the elves. Gold Dragosn immunity to 1-4 spells can come in handy but once they die they are lost forever, since you cannot ress them. B tier: 4. Dungeon - Double-edged sword. Insane heroes and hero classes. Gunnar is the bes thero in Game. Overlords are the best classes upon leveling up, Warlocks are the 3rd best in the whole game. Good starting heroes - Shahkti, Lorelei, even jedite. Alamar is the most broken Scholar in game since he has resurection and Scholar to pass it on. Portal of summonning is good once you are aware of the things you are capping. Creatures - Shahkti starts with a pwoer stack of Troglodytes, clearing everything around. Upgraded harpies are good because of no retaliation. Minotaurs are a tier 5.5 unit, they only drawback is their 50 HP. Black Dragons are some of the most powerful in game, their magic immunity is both an advantage and a disadvantage. The true disadvantage of dungeon are the costs and the requirements for everything, forcing you to farm a ton of resources and scout all the sideroads. 5. Castle - It is here only because of Angels. A decent start with Valeska and upgraded archers. Even if they shoot twice they are nowhere near the Grand Elves and they get demolished by Storm Elementals. Nothing special about Castle creatures, no noteworthy abilities, no nothing, except Angels and Archangels. They Cost a hand and a leg to build up, but if you play it correctly and get them in time the map is yours. C tier: 6. Tower - The only city in the game with 3 ranged units, and the only one to have level 1 and 7 units. The clear speed is quite decent, Mages and Archmages reduce spell costs, Nagas and Naga Queens are the best lvl 6 units in game (no retaliation, 110 HP and huge attack) and Titans can carry by themselves. But this is pretty much all good about Tower. It has the absolutely worst starting heroes in the whole game, except Solmyr, which is the ony hero that starts with no scholar. Their leveling trees are horrible (solmyr gets offered scholar every single level up unless you have something to level on him). Snow terrain is a pain to be dealt with, once you have a non tower creature you need a whole week to move through it. Not to mention the build requirements. If you thought Dungeon is annoying to build, just wait for this mofo and you will see the true meaning of pain. It is a bit cheaper than Dungeon, but walking through the snow for resources, even with a full tower army, takes an eternity. And also, walking with Tower Armies outside snow is painful asf. 7. Stronghold - Barbarians are the second best class in game, surpassed only by Overlords and followed by Warlocks.Barbarians get offered only good skills - earth magic, logistics, all of them start with offense, they get air magic. Good heroes to start: Dessa, Gretchin and Tyraxor. Get your hands on Crag Hack as soon as you see him in the tavern and main him. Behemonths are hands down the best level 7 in the whole game thanks to their high stats and their passive. Thunderbirds are another tier 5.5 unit because of their high damage. But, here end the good things. Battle mages are horrible, stat distribution is trash and so is the skil ltree. The whole early game revolves around Goblins and Wolf Raiders since orcs are crap, which means you constantly bleed units. Rough terrain isn't that bad and you don't lose movement outside rough terain with Strongold army. 8. Fortress - Mighty Gorgons are this towns best unit. They are their second T6 unit. Beefy as hell, a lot of damage and Death Gze which can oneshoot even Black Dragons and pass through anti magic and everything. Another advantage si that you can upgrade the Wyverns you get form the Dragon Fly Hives. Tazar for his defense spec is the bes thero to start. The heroes to main if you get are Andra for her intelligence sopec whcih comes in handy for the long games and Alkin for his Gorgon spec if you get a power stack. Despite being cheap to build, the creatures are clunky and cannot compete with the other towns, they are sub par compared to everything else in game because of their low speed, damage and sometimes low hp. The dragon Flies speed is not enough to compensate. Despite decent skil ltrees for witches and beastmasters and their stats distribution being also a good one, it is not enough to compensate. D tier: 9. Inferno - Efreet and Demon farming is the only thing I can think of to make this city work. High creature cost, very weak basics, worst archers in this version of the game, requiring a week to upgrade your hell hole, bad hero classes, only lasses that are worse being the Tower ones are the things that make this city the weakest. The Efreet thing is that you have to be lucky to get your hands on Armageddon. The other thing is that you have to get a Warlock so you can empower your armageddon, since they get the highest spellpwoer in the whole game. Adding the pretty expensive creature dwellings, weak level 7, speed and no retaliation being its only advantages, heroes with bad stat distributions, the most effective start being Pyre with Ballista spec since the basic creatures perform sub par in combat, Imps and Gogs being worse than Fortress creatures, you need all the help you can get from Taven and grind enough resources to go for level 4-5 units in the first few days to stand a chance to farm content. One minor advantage is you have a chance to learn Armageddon in the mage guild. Grails won't change pretty much the things. Necro and Conflux being the best and, agian, Inferno's week of Imp the absolutely worst. The rest are just minor tings that don't really help.
You're talking about 'Early Game' with Stronghold like you don't have Behemoths by the end of the first week. I guess I can see why you would undervalue Stronghold.
@@varsoonhks3211 not undervaluing it, but there are other cities that can do the same job without forcing you into T7 units to prevent massive bleeding, which means they are more efficient.
@@GCatalinStefan No other faction in the game can get the amount of unit power that Stronghold can in week 1 from their starting town alone. Most factions take more than 2 weeks to catch up, and even then are very resource dependent to do so.
u say the castle creatures dont have good skills yet royals griffins always retaliate and crusaders strike twice champions have jousting bonus and zealots dont lose any attack points when fighting melee range
That's mostly a horrible list tbh. You are ranking many key units for a faction's success with almost the lowest possible score. Minotaur 3/9(huge stats & almost as strong as some level 6 units. Price is very justified), Master gremlin 3/9(obviuosly super important for early tower, while alleged 8/9 arch mages require so many resources noone gives a fuck about them), greater basilisk is obviously not 1/9 lol, almost all stronghold units are way off(especially key unit thunderbirds), cerberus 2/9(wtf?), Ice elemental 1/9 is also a huge over-reaction etc. Some super weird hero choices aswell. Too many to mention, but Brissa is nothing compared to Luna, Ciele, or even Grindan.
its very rare, and basing on rare things is dumbness... it should be a strenght of castle, not a random things which can happen... in that case conflux has the best 6th and 7th unit also the best grail - whole spells which gave them armageddon for most of conflux units are immune... but I repeat again its not the castle strenght
To be honest components for the cloak of Balanced king are very easy to obtain. For some reason when creating random map you'll almost always be able to assemble it. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I was always able to assmeble it while playing Necro with friends.
@@jairomy that is u have the Resources :D but y love wyverns if i have many hate them if i face many, like with vampire lords, also a very annoying unit to face but i love them if i have them, and many of them, but they are quite costly, wyverns not as much tbh, to build the building that is.
I would rather divide cities based on categories: a) best all-rounders: Castle and Dungeon. You just can't go wrong with these cities, because they have a versatile mix of great units combined with strong heroes. Dungeon units offer some paralysis abilities, but they are more vulnerable to Mass Curse spell due to big differences between min and max damages and no chance of getting Expert Water Magic. b) best defense: obviously Fortress, it's hardly the worst, because Beastmasters really stack these defense points. Lizardmen get really tough and hard to take out. Wystan is great early game to give them some extra "oomph" while Tazar gets stronger with levels. Alkin can be an alternative, if you want stronger gorgons. Dracon is Fortress' Shakti with lots of starting lvl 1 units. Haste spell is a must. c) best attack: Stronghold, it features couple of strong heroes with Crag Hack in the lead. Behemoths are dangerous, birds are fast and versatile, wolfriders are great at dishing out damage but very fragile, rest of units are fillers. Cyclops are solid shooters, but their dwellings need tons of crystals so it will take some time to get it going. Orcs are ok. Haste is a must. d) most expensive: Tower, it has 3 shooters, but everything is so, so expensive. And these lackluster heroes don't help, if I can I tend to check out tavern for something else. If not, I stick to Neela or Solmyr. If you can get someone nice from tavern, just get starting Aine for some extra daily gold and make tavern hero your main :P. Army designed around defensive play, 3 shooters, rest of units to cover them and mage hero to sling spells and demolish enemy army. e) strongest overall: Necropolis when it gets rolling with skeletons. Galthran boosts their statistics and gives some meat on these poor bones. Dread Knights are awesome, so are Vampires. Dragons are great if they get lucky when spreading the aging curse. Lvl 2 and 3 are pretty useless though. Lich is a great shooter. f) just meh: Inferno which sucks, because I love the look. Archdevils can be crazy playmakers, Efreets are frustrating to fight against. Demons are average units. City relies on turning it's Lvl 1-3 into Demons by using Pit Lords. I always felt it makes them a worse Necropolis, because at best you just turn one units into another, while Necro's army is constantly getting stronger with each battle. On the other hand I saw players getting really lots of demons and one shotting enemy units in one hit. It's a really specific city.
finally someone who knows the game (you). The moment I saw this moron ranking Fortress as the worst faction I got triggered so badly, and not because Fortress is one of my 2 favorite towns, but simply because it's too strong of a faction when played properly. Someone who says that Fortress is the worst clearly has no clue about Heroes 3 and loses all credibility in my eyes
To add up a bit, Conflux without fixed Phoenix growth is straight broken. Rampart is also a solid all-rounder, it's also a pretty cheap city to develop, because you only need elves and centaurs to get started (dwarves are too slow to drag along, until upgrade at least). There is also treasury, which works if you have more cities.
@@masterexploder9668 I know that I'm not a good PvP player (I have lost most games that I've played in hotseat some 17-18 years ago when I was playing Heroes 3 almost daily), but.... even so, Conflux is NOT overpowered. That's one statement that I will never agree with anyone, no matter how well they know,. or don't know this game. Speed is important, yes, but not as important to bring Conflux victories over other factions most of the time. I would know this because I have lost so many games as a Conflux player that I've lost count of. I like Conflux (Rampart, Fortress, Conflux are my favorite towns)... so yeah, I like Conflux A LOT.... but only I know how weak this town is, even with 4 phoenixes per week. I mean, Ok, Conflux might be overpowered in various situations, but I'm speaking exclusively for the way that I, and my friends, have played this game: no touching each other for 12 months, and at the end of month 12 we engage each other in a battle, and whoever wins that battle wins the game. Sure, this might be newbie play, but it's the only type of playing that has brought fun to my circle of friends. And in this type of play Conflux is weak like shit, believe me. I have had my ass whooped by Castle, Necropolis, Dungeon, Stronghold, Fortress and occasionally by Tower, too many times. I think I have won once or twice playing as Conflux over 3-4 years of playing Heroes 3 weekly, but that's too little for how strong people say that Conlux is. Anyway, Conflux is fun to play (Magic Elementals are one of my all-time favorite creatures in the entire franchise of HoMM, and even my username is "monere", so yeah, I do like Conlux A LOT), but like I've said.... the way I used to play this game Conflux is shit. Probably that even Inferno would be able to rape Conflux.... IF played correctly, that is (nobody in my circle of friends has ever been able to pull constant victories with Inferno xD)
@@GRIMHOOD99 just because I don't know how to play it doesn't mean that it's overpowered. Also, people who ban are still people, and people make mistakes, which means that they can be wrong, too. In my opinion they are wrong for banning Conflux and not banning Castle for example, which has the absolute best creature for each tier. If that's not bannable I don't know what else is.
asdasdfeanor I would rank fortress higher because of Tazar and his outrageous defense and how durable all the units are. It’s rival is the stronghold because those two are literally opposites but I would rank fortress higher. Maybe necro first because of large skeletons and black knights are a great sixth lvl unit
The only bad thing about many towns is that they are lead by dragons, I would switch out ghost dragons and golden dragons, and replace them with other undead and forest creatures to take the upper level, and leave the red/black dragons being the only dragon in the game next to the neutral ones.
i think you have never been stomped by a good fortress player in multiplayer to judge them to botom place, Inferno has bad early bad mid and decent late and is the worst town by far in my opinion.
@@TypowyKubini the only way to play Inferno is with demon farming. If you manage to play that properly Inferno becomes arguably the best town in the game. But since 99.99% of the players can't demon-farm....
@@blabla-rg7ky i only played it with efreet and it was still hard for me. By demon farm you mean sacrificing imps and then resurrect them with pit lords?
@@TypowyKubini yep. I've seen someone do this in official game many years ago and it was nuts. In a couple of months he had over 400 demons. Needless to say that he's won because of that, and the funny thing is that his opponent was necro, but even though he had managed to raise close to a 1k or 2 k skeletons (I don't remember the exact number) he could do nothing against 400 demons. No faction would be able to beat that under normal conditions (without extra army and gold from various events, quests, dwellings, etc.)... That's why I've said that whoever knows how to farm demons can win easily with Inferno. But sadly, this is too tedious of a task, and you need good conditions too (I think several dwellings of imps, or something like that)
Top Tier: (Always Ban) Conflux/Necro A Tier: Castle, Tower(Rich Maps), Stronghold(Small Maps) B Tier: Rampart, Dungeon, Fortress, Inferno (They are all limited depending on Ressource,Time and Artifacts or Hero Traits to work, but can do well if mastered/lucky) C Tier: Tower(No Ressource Maps) Inferno(Diplomacy Ban), Rampart(Huge Map) This is my opinion on current Meta in "Pro" PVP as I watch many Pros who also analyse strategies and do guides. Many Strats only work when lucky and insta loose Week 3 if not assembled. Only Tier S and A can come back from these properly. If you don't get wood early with Rampart you can do a restart. If you don't get gold after that you can forfeit. That's just how the game works.
Castle's nearly as good as Conflux/Necro because of A-Angel resurrection and how OP they are in general as the last tier unit. Crusader is a crazy 4th tier also.
2 of the strongest castles are necros and conflux, conflux only due to grail buff (gives you all spells in the game) necros for necromancy buff from item combining to wake up power liches instead of skeletons
Look at thi like-dislike ratio! That's to be expected, if You don't adhere to "meta" tier list. It's sad people don't listen; You secifically said it's based on preference, not numbers. One thing remains constant tho Necropolis and necromancy are opaf.
I feel like Solmyr should be mentioned for Tower. I think that makes Tower the best faction just because you can cast chain lightning turn one. This makes it by far the best faction for playing at king difficulty because you can break out of wherever you need to instantly capture another town.
the super low movement of skeletons kills necropolis for me. with rampart you can leave the dwarves and dendroids back at the castle to defend, but with necromancers you're always stuck with skeletons slowing you down.
HoMM III is the game that brought me into playing games. My father was playing it and I was watching him play when I was like 4 yo. I did not want to play because I was scared of some of the creatures but I was telling him what to do and he was listening to me even if it was nonsense decision :DD. When I turned into 6 yo big boy I was not scared anymore so I have been playing the game by myself :). When I feel bored I allways start to play HoMM III. I love playing it even if it is quiet old game and I think that it is the best HoMM game that exists. When I was 7 I started to play HoMM IV but I do not like it more than the third HoMM.
Nice story! I actually grew up watching my father play Fallout 3 and RuneScape. I’ve only just recently gotten into Heroes 3. I kinda like Castle so far but I haven’t really tried the other factions.
@@qkhuve btw, month ago, I bought HoMM 3 HD Steam edition for my father. He started to cry when he installed it and started to play...nostalgia is a strong feeling :)
My first game was with fortress and it was a mess. I had no idea how to utilize it's strength. Getting the fly's and early wyverns can open the map for you very early. Fly's give your hero huge range on the map and beeing a nice unit to kite enemies on the battlefield.
Castle is completely my favorite. I’ve been playing heroes 3 since before I could talk (literally I was 3) I could beat all my family w the help of my archangels
My favorite tactic with castle is, taking advantage of the large melee and small ranged units, to use the tactics skill to keep my losses on ranged units down by tucking them into the corner with gryphons and pikemen (and eventually champions). Slowly accumulating large stacks of those while close enough to have my cavaliers and archangels able to hit anything I want on my first turn tends to lead to a feedback loop of army strength which is quite effective in late game.
@@wesleyvalk9129 lol yeah I guess, I also like that you start on grasslands most of the time for good movement speed. Can you at least agree inferno is the worst
@@lancelotkokojan1409 I love demons, for me castle is the worst, well maybe conflux, I don't like the elementals in that game, pixie and phoenix are great though
Go Dungeon and play with Deemer. The Meteor Shower will be extremely useful at the start of a game, giving you advantage in every fight early on and cause you to snowball fast. The double Mana Points you get in this faction make it even better, so go for an Intelligence/Earth-Magic Build. Best case you also get Town-Portal, which gives you the ability to teleport from town to town with Master Earth Magic. At that point you become a teleporting Meteor Storm. The spell doesn't fall off either and will provide a strong damage asset even to mid and lategame fights~
Meteor Shower is pretty nice, IF creatures line up for it. But I find resurrection much more powerful overall, and dungeon has TWO heroes who start with that spell: Jeddite who starts with advanced wisdom and Alamar who starts with wisdom and scholar. Plus it has a logistics specialist and a sorcery specialist (ever done super-charged spells?).
What a hell, its wide known that strongest are Conflux, Necro, Castle, this order. The first two even have balancing penalties in professional multiplayer (no upgrades on pixies, psycho, firebirds; no necromancy amplifier). Sheesh...
i am litraly 12 and i started to play when i was 3 wean i think about it i have been playing this game over 8 and even today i play it it was one of the games that i used to go straight to the computer and right away just boot the game up and play thanks for the amazing memories HoMM3 i wil never forget the amazing times
The list is backwards lmao. Fortress is one of the strongest, if not THE strongest town in the game. It simply requires a lot of strategic thinking and experience with the game. Most players think it's bad simply because AI is horrible with it, and real players barely ever try it because of that. In fact, Fortress is hometown to most powerful creature in the game (Mighty Gorgon, duh) and the mos powerful hero in the game (Tazar, duh) and has a lot going for it. People are not even aware that Reptilians have better damage than both Marksman and Magog, and have stats on par with Orc, a 3rd level shooter, and continue to claim that Fortress supposedly has the worst shooter. What a freakin joke.
Another Necro main, nice I agree with your list for sure. Only team I haven't played here is Conflux as its not in base edition of the game. But yeah the only "Bad" unit Necro have is Zombies that for me only ever serve a purpose as a meat shield to sit in town to defend against cap attempts. They can hold pretty well even with a bad hero while letting the towers shoot at stuff and deal damage. But yeah with Castle you feel very superior when it comes to tier. But yeah Fortress is probably my least favorite as its a very attack focused team that feel very squishy. Goblins and Hobgoblins are probably the worst tier 1 in the game, you get a lot of them but they often die if something even looks at them. Also the problem of most of their units being very slow meaning they often act last and don't cover much of the map at all. At a measly 6 hp or something and like 1 defense they die like flies. Compared to the Pikeman/Helbardeir of Castle who have a whopping 10 hp per unit, certainly adds up fast, sure you might not get as many, but they have very good stats and can take on higher tier units and live to tell the tale.
Taking into account you even get the cloak that is WITH the cloak necro is by many lengths the best Without the cloak only Conflux competes, but Necro is prolly' strongest on Large maps
i used to play this game as a kid, one of my favorite games, i dont get the ratio of dislikes, i think it proves the quick reactionary emotions of spazzes that cant take other points of views... good job dude thank you for making this
Huge props for placing factions on aesthetics and your way of playing the game (which looks like casual play) rather than trying to compare every stat and judge based on Meta Strategies like the Cloak of the Very Balanced King.
Tower worst? What a joke. Titans are one of the best 7 level creatures and Naga is the best 6 level creature. + Tower has more spells than any castle including double spell at level 5 of mage guild.
@@corvir4 sorry for the late reply, I don't know why I put Inferno before Tower, I played the game more since, and I'll say they are better than Inferno. Still, I find the faction expensive, and it's not one of my favorites to play.
I'm seeing lots of negative comments around here with everyone getting salty that *X* faction should be higher or that *Y* faction should be lower, but I reckon this could easily be one of the hardest lists to make. One of the things that shines about this game for me is, that even though it is well over 20 years old, it is still very tightly balanced. Although things such as Necromancy and Phoenixes are certainly powerful, there is nothing in this game that is blatantly overpowered or broken. Pretty much every faction in the game is on an even playing field and has the potential to be good. It's nice getting a fresh perspective on what you think is the best faction, because god knows that it's boring as shit listen to everyone and their mother crying over how every faction is overpowered except for the one that they play as. also screw you i like inferno
@Neverlandia other then access to instant mass slow (Grindan) and the ability to clean up half the map with one sprite (Luna), the speed and growth rate of the birds.....conflux don't really have much going for them
Tightly balanced? Maybe in pve.. maybe. In pvp it is garbage and the whole game is about making sure you can exploit the game faster than your opponent can. 2 towns and some heroes are even banned in online play. Restrictions are put on some upgraded buildings because they can be exploited to such a degree that you automatically win. 1 dragon or efreet + armageddon, flee, rebuy and repeat. Blind+ressurection. Combat AI abuse with necro to kill big stacks and gain thousands of skeletons the first weeks. Conflux, just conflux. There are sooo many more bullshit strategies people use that will make you punch a hole through your monitor because it is unbalanced
As probably everyone I don't 100% but oh well. There are obviously different strength and weaknesses that make certain factions better on some maps more so than others. However what I would want to add, that you don't really touch on is: 1.Which Hero classes does each town provide and how good are they? What is their stat distribution and what skills are they likely to roll into? 2.What is their build order. For example Fortress can build Wyvern on day1 and can get creeping pretty good and fast due to that, while you for example have to build quite a few things to be able to get mages.
On an XL+U map, if I let you start with 6 fully built Ramparts and a million gold, and I start with level 1 Vidomina with Cotuk and one unbuilt Inferno town with 0 gold, I win the game.
So you are just going to ignore possibility of upgrading Wyverns from Dragon Fly Hive, insane mobility of Dragon Flies and might class heroes with high chances for great skills (including the one of the best heroes in the game, Tazar)?
We don't care, we like to bash ppl :D
Maybe he shoulden't name it a tier list then?
@@layelaye why not? It's HIS tier list, based on what he finds most fun to play. A tier list doesn't have to mean most powerful, can be based on looks, performance, efficiency, how good a faction is early or late, etc. It's also subjective by nature and it is virtually impossible to make a tier list that everyone will agree with. Best you can do is try to find what the most common opinion is.

S tier: Necro and Conflux(with Luna)
A tier: Castle(A++ just barely not S tier) and Dungeon
B tier: Rampart and Fortress
C tier: Stronghold (on lower MMR this town is higher between A and B, falls off pretty hard on higher levels sadly)

Try and capture with Tazar any other faction town as early as possible. That's my best bet for survival as the level 3 magic guild combined with slow creatures is a huge hindrance for late game.

Oh, hey, fancy seeing you here!
Is there a chance you'd make a video or two about the game?
Hello? Fortress is the worst? You have got to be kidding, or are we just ignoring the fact that Inferno is in the game?
After a while you realise that the faction most fun to play is Random :D

i LOVE nearly all of the factions on an aesthetic level but conflux is by far one of my favorites. i've always, always held it dear to my heart. rampart too. then dungeon and tower. honestly about all of them. this game is so nostalgic and revisiting it has been wonderful :')

I've loved the Necropolis since I first started playing the game as a little kid. I still use it today and its still my favorite

Probably the most accurate one, I'd switch Rampart for Tower tho.
Agree
Faxx only thing is this can change depending on map size and game duration
Would be fun if someone would be so stubborn and would make Inferno work in competitive and prove everyone wrong : )
Grindan and Luna from conflux send u their regards about early efficient hero note.
Yes. I bring only naga, titan, gremlin, magi and 3 stack genies. Raining buff to my units aside from offensive heroes like solmyr
You nailed it. But note the drawback---it's expensive and tends to play better in larger maps because of it. I often love to play Dungeon or Tower on small maps for the sheer challenge. They aren't easy early game if pushed
@@lunaticfringe896 Yeah. The key is an almost obsessive focus on your economy focusing on mines, mills leprechauns and all town resource buildings.

Honestly Necropolis has always been my favorite because of the undead theme and because my favorite unit is the vampire
Great video. I love all the factions, but Rampart is probably my favourite. I simply can't go past that wonderful fantasy and nature aesthetic, like a place I'd love to visit. Castle is probably the most well-rounded in my opinion, but Dungeon is also very fun to play.
Fortress may look weak, but you can flatten those dragon utopias with enough mighty gorgons . . .
@@sanchellewellyn1681 Yeah, Gorgons are brutal. I hate playing against both those and manticores :P.
Conflux is by far the best and there is a reason it's always banned in competative play.
Main reasons
1 sprites
With their absurd speed and no relation abilities you get a jump start on every other fraction that is just out of comparison.
2 Phoenix
It's the only fraction getting a 4 (2 base) growts lv 7 creatures making them absurd by them selfs on top of this they have regeneration abilitys, one of the most broken abilities in the game and one of the reasons Necropolis is the second strongest fraktion(after necromancy) adding this when you already have double growth is absurd.
On top of this, the building to get them is also easier to get than most level 7 buildings.
3 fire imunity
The fraction have 3 different creatures with fire immunity making it the hands down strongest fraktion for the Armageddon strategy, one of the best strategys in the game.
How you mean "change these spells too"? I do not know about being able to change spells of a mage tower / guild....
@@u9vata that's a mechanic added in unofficial Horn of the Abyss expansion, you can reroll a spell in your mage guild for a price equal to building a mage guild corresponding to a level of researched spell so if you want to reroll a level 4 spell you have to pay as much as for buying a whole new level 4 mage guild
the music makes this is a work of art
Great video!
Tier list inc
S tier: Necropolis and Conflux
-Necropolis really only has issues in the very early game, before they can get their Necromancy ramp to good efficiency. Magic resistances are cute, though target spells are rarely used (people favor mass-buff/mass-debuff spells like Expert Haste/Slow)
A tier: Castle and Rampart
Castle is overall the master jack-of-all-trades, having no slots in the recruitment roster feeling underwhelming as well as having one of the best, if not the actual best, T7 unit.
B tier: Dungeon, Tower and Stronghold
Dungeon is also teetering between A and B, though I'd say it's below Rampart in it's efficiency.
C Tier: Fortress
Slow, bulky, "the best offense is a defense".
F Tier: Inferno
It's only claim to fame is it's high chance to get Armageddon in the Mage Guild.
That's why I always got expert earth to tp all over the place XD
good list and alot better you also explain the downsides of each faction even the necro and conflux
@@coolchrisable Glad to hear it. Yeah, no town is without it's flaws, it's all about making the strengths more pevalent than the weaknesses after all ^^
Bruh
Listen to the sylvan theme for heroes 7. It is one of my favorites
I have been playing Hero 3 for so long
:)
and still play it.
I think it's a huge deal that the Tower faction also grants you one extra spell per tier. Two lvl. 5 spells can be amazing if you're a little lucky..
You just taught me that. Thanks
You nailed it, to the "T."
Get on a small map and I'll take Fortress or Stronghold every day of the week and twice on Sunday. The difference is significant, especially if your opponents are playing something like Tower or Dungeon. It takes TIME and RESOURCES to build those up. Of course, once those get going, they are difficult to slow down, but the game can be won early on sometimes
Every city is ridiculously OP if played right :) This is why this game is so fun even after all these years.
I agree 100%
Nice video dude - i don’t agree on all accounts but what can you expect !
Got so much nostalgia for this game.
almost 22 years later and this is still relevant.
Yup just started a new game today 🤣
Sitting here at 1:08 like, "If they say fortress is the biggest loser I'm out". AND THEN HE SAYS IT!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
This guy doesn't know anything about the game, don't worry.
I was an online player in the past.
I specialize in using Stronghold (Gurnisson as hero -Ballista) and Fortress.
I don't compete with other players if the map is not set to
Impossible, (not a dime of initial reaources, except for the bonus you selected.)
Aim for a 1st week Behemoth, and look for Logistics, Ranged and Artillery.
I play fortress most of the time actually, and for thee main reasons
1: Debuffs can win you the game, especially with how quick serpent flies are and how each shot with the lizard warrior can inflict poison.
2: Cheap cost can make you play pretty quickly, expanding faster than other towns
3: I like lizards and stuff, ok... their cool...
The actual power level list (based on Shadow of Death version of the game) loos like this:
Broken as hell:
A Tier:
B tier:
C tier:
D tier:

You didn't include the cloak of the undead king which ressurects liches instead of skeletons
its very rare, and basing on rare things is dumbness... it should be a strenght of castle, not a random things which can happen... in that case conflux has the best 6th and 7th unit also the best grail - whole spells which gave them armageddon for most of conflux units are immune... but I repeat again its not the castle strenght
To be honest components for the cloak of Balanced king are very easy to obtain. For some reason when creating random map you'll almost always be able to assemble it. Maybe I'm just lucky, but I was always able to assmeble it while playing Necro with friends.
I can tell that you've never had any experience playing against actual humans, because you said Fortress is the worst.
Dead within one month
Seriously. This guy has no idea. Conflux at #6????
20 Wyverns week 2 say whats up lol!
@@jairomy that is u have the Resources :D but y love wyverns if i have many hate them if i face many, like with vampire lords, also a very annoying unit to face but i love them if i have them, and many of them, but they are quite costly, wyverns not as much tbh, to build the building that is.
@Fergus they are indeed one of the most powerful units
damn when did i grow up? i miss those days...
I would rather divide cities based on categories:
a) best all-rounders: Castle and Dungeon.
@@blabla-rg7ky Well that just means you have no idea how to play conflux because it is after necro 2nd most banned faction in PvP.
Is this a joke?
1. Conflux
2. Necropolis
3. Castle
4. Dungeon
5. Tower
6. Rampart
7. Stronghold
8. Fortress
9. Inferno
asdasdfeanor I would rank fortress higher because of Tazar and his outrageous defense and how durable all the units are. It’s rival is the stronghold because those two are literally opposites but I would rank fortress higher. Maybe necro first because of large skeletons and black knights are a great sixth lvl unit
1necro
@@floodhunter2156 but stronghold leads over fortress
Rampart 6, Fortress 8
Lmao
Dungeon better than Tower? On medium-small. On large maps Tower really stands out.
I subscribe to your opinion
Well, inferno sucks late too, playable only if you can produce efreet in weak 1. Even with them, they still pale compared to any other town
But sadly, this is too tedious of a task, and you need good conditions too (I think several dwellings of imps, or something like that)
1. castle
2. rampart
3. dungeon
4. tower
5. stronghold
6.necropolis
7. inferno
8. fortress
He literally ordered them based of how much he likes the way the troops look.
It's his opinion. His list.
Damn I forgot how good the music was
Top Tier: (Always Ban)
Conflux/Necro
A Tier: Castle, Tower(Rich Maps), Stronghold(Small Maps)
B Tier: Rampart, Dungeon, Fortress, Inferno (They are all limited depending on Ressource,Time and Artifacts or Hero Traits to work, but can do well if mastered/lucky)
C Tier: Tower(No Ressource Maps) Inferno(Diplomacy Ban), Rampart(Huge Map)
This is my opinion on current Meta in "Pro" PVP as I watch many Pros who also analyse strategies and do guides.
2 of the strongest castles are necros and conflux, conflux only due to grail buff (gives you all spells in the game)
necros for necromancy buff from item combining to wake up power liches instead of skeletons
They should just recreate this game without changing any maps, heroes, artifacts, dynamics or towns just with modern graphics and online modes.
Mete Tekin agreed!!!!
No the graphics are perfect they have age as fine wine but i agree about multiplayer
What is the music at very first seconds? It's soo climatic
Same question, its a great music
Look at thi like-dislike ratio!
That's to be expected, if You don't adhere to "meta" tier list. It's sad people don't listen; You secifically said it's based on preference, not numbers. One thing remains constant tho
Necropolis and necromancy are opaf.
Was a good video, I hope your channel blows up more
I feel like Solmyr should be mentioned for Tower.
Same! Sat in my fathers knee and played the game. I've been playing it ever since!
Nice story! I actually grew up watching my father play Fallout 3 and RuneScape. I’ve only just recently gotten into Heroes 3. I kinda like Castle so far but I haven’t really tried the other factions.
@@sockscav Enjoy! : )
@@qkhuve btw, month ago, I bought HoMM 3 HD Steam edition for my father. He started to cry when he installed it and started to play...nostalgia is a strong feeling :)
@@dominikvachl8439 It sure is and is no doubt one of the reasons this game is still going strong ^^
I love castle too, there are plenty resources around. Castle is often situated in good amount of free resources nearby
The units of caslte are by far the most boring ones, or are you a human lover?
@@wesleyvalk9129 lol yeah I guess, I also like that you start on grasslands most of the time for good movement speed. Can you at least agree inferno is the worst
@@lancelotkokojan1409 I love demons, for me castle is the worst, well maybe conflux, I don't like the elementals in that game, pixie and phoenix are great though
Love how you say a lot of the positive of the towns even at the beginnning of the list
Fortress is the worst? Haha, that’s cute
Yes initially i found it hard to play but after that I realise how good they can be
They are actually one of the best, and arguably have the best "warrior" heroes.
@@babasemka In my experience Dungeons might heroes are super strong, but I haven't played much fortress
@@elmerjarpegard4222 they are, but that does not make up for how bad the rest about Dungeon is

They are great. But that swamp terrain is horrible
The music in this game
Stronghold at 7, Tower at 5.
Yog: *surprised pikachu face*
What a hell, its wide known that strongest are Conflux, Necro, Castle, this order. The first two even have balancing penalties in professional multiplayer (no upgrades on pixies, psycho, firebirds; no necromancy amplifier). Sheesh...
Psycho elemental lul
I forgot how much I love the music in this game
All castles have their pros and cons and are quite well-balanced....
just kidding - N E C R O P O L I S
Lol for real, they have necromancy, Vampires are broken, Black Knights are really good but they're ultimate unit is kinda bad
5:16 Corona 🤔😀
Oh man that Fortress music takes me back! Necropolis mvp though
i am litraly 12 and i started to play when i was 3 wean i think about it i have been playing this game over 8 and even today i play it it was one of the games that i used to go straight to the computer and right away just boot the game up and play thanks for the amazing memories HoMM3 i wil never forget the amazing times
Fucking THANK YOU! Only complete noobs THINKS Fortress is bad!
Solmyr and his scaling chain lighting off the bat make Tower my go-to franchise.
Love this video, gives me crazy nastolgia
Funny thing that he didn't mention the cloak of the undead king...
What truly makes necropolis broken.
Army of thousand liches in endgame
I suppose that thousands of skeletons are easy to deal with...
Well they need some time to get to you.
Liches will fuck up everything even from range.
@@blabla-rg7ky turning lvl 1 neutral camps into FREE lvl 6 liches is op as fuck no matter how you look at it.
Taking into account you even get the cloak that is
WITH the cloak necro is by many lengths the best
Without the cloak only Conflux competes, but Necro is prolly' strongest on Large maps
Yup if you get the cloak at the end your army quickly becomes invincible
Can we start a petition that whenever someone mentions inferno, reality just jump cuts to Risitas laughing?
i used to play this game as a kid, one of my favorite games, i dont get the ratio of dislikes, i think it proves the quick reactionary emotions of spazzes that cant take other points of views... good job dude thank you for making this
Huge props for placing factions on aesthetics and your way of playing the game (which looks like casual play) rather than trying to compare every stat and judge based on Meta Strategies like the Cloak of the Very Balanced King.
For me:
1. Conflux
2. Necropolis
3. Castle
4. Dungeon
5. Rampart
6. Stronghold
7. Fortress
8. Inferno
9. Tower
My fav: Conflux and Dungeon
Easiest to use: Castle
Aggressive tactics: Fortress
Most fun: Castle and Conflux
Most diverse: Tower and Castle
Tower worst? What a joke. Titans are one of the best 7 level creatures and Naga is the best 6 level creature. + Tower has more spells than any castle including double spell at level 5 of mage guild.
@@corvir4 sorry for the late reply, I don't know why I put Inferno before Tower, I played the game more since, and I'll say they are better than Inferno.
Still, I find the faction expensive, and it's not one of my favorites to play.
0:01 That music reminds me od "2 steps from hell"
@Neverlandia so many things are fucked about this game that in the end everybody can get OP af and win :D for some reason i always sucked as conflux
@Neverlandia other then access to instant mass slow (Grindan) and the ability to clean up half the map with one sprite (Luna), the speed and growth rate of the birds.....conflux don't really have much going for them
@Neverlandia depends on the map template bring used, most pro games on jebus are to short for this building to have much of an impact really
However what I would want to add, that you don't really touch on is:
1.Which Hero classes does each town provide and how good are they? What is their stat distribution and what skills are they likely to roll into?
2.What is their build order. For example Fortress can build Wyvern on day1 and can get creeping pretty good and fast due to that, while you for example have to build quite a few things to be able to get mages.
My favourite Town is Rampart (personallity) or Necropolis (public opinion ):)
