I hope this was helpful! There are too many variables to cover all possible scenarios, for example you won't care that Infernal Troglodytes are kind of pricey if you only play maps where you swim in gold, but hopefully this gives a good overview of the basics. 👍 Some of the playthroughs featured in this video: ▶ The Great Wasteland: ruclips.net/video/vHwiF2Q9bAY/видео.html ▶ Dungeon Keeper: ruclips.net/video/AanCrEA5k78/видео.html
Are you ever gonna continue this series??? This was a really well done guide and I'm very disappointed that you haven't done another one since you did this four months ago.
I grew up playing this game, and know most of its ins and outs, but I still watch all of these guide/tip vids. You're by far the most professional of the various HoMM3 video creators that I've seen/watch. Your effort shows!
Hi Norovo - I know there are several other comments hoping for this, but instead of thumbing up something said a year ago, wanted to let you know there is still interest to get your take like this on the other towns, too, in 2023. My preference would be to see a guide framed specifically on how to use each town in non-multiplayer play (i.e. player vs AI such as single scenarios or the campaigns). Would also love to see a TIER LIST or two - from you specifically - with the same focus (non-multiplayer ranking) as I don't have any desire to join online matches.
This is an incredible video. 20 minutes of pure gold. I especially love how detailed it is, and yet doesn't ramble about the same topic for an unnecessary amount of time. (also, video editing is on point) After playing H3 for almost 20 years, I didn't expect I would learn too many new things from this type of video, but you pointed out a lot of stuff I never realized on my own, and I learned a lot! I primarily play dungeon and castle, so it was interesting to learn about one of my favourite factions. Would love to see you make more!
As a "played this when I was little and dum" person, is it nice to actually understand the nitty gritty stuff about this game. More town guides please :)
I'm pretty sure you've heard this before but it would be super awesome if you could do guides like this on other towns. This was incredibly helpful and informative, and I'd be super grateful if you could share your wisdom on other towns as well
Really, really liked this video :) Used to play the game a lot when I was a kid, but didn't know about like 70% of the mechanics, so learning about them now is very interesting. Also, the way you present content is very enjoyable and entertaining to watch, hope you make this is into a series and do the rest of the towns :)
So glad to see someone finally making in-depth reviews in this style. I'm a "FORTRESS BEST TOWN" player for sheer love of defensive strategy. So hope I find one of those from you, soon This was as approachable as a podcast, though. I've listened to it multiple times just because it's one of the easier videos to pop the headphones, hit play, and get on with my day.
Nice guide! Even though I've been playing this game since I was a kid, thanks to you I've discovered some interesting insights and helpful tips to maximize the use of Dungeon. Looking forward to seeing the next guide!
Thanks for the great guide. Please make one for all towns! It's cool that you mention HotA specifics, as Horn of the Abyss is the new standard / default way of playing Heroes.
Very high quality video! Don't know if I'm a veteran, but I've been playing on and off for basically as long as I've remembered. Didn't learn all that much new stuff, but you did put a lot of things into words that I couldn't so still interesting none the less!
This was really neat! This was a very good guide indeed and as an avid Dungeon fan I am really glad that you picked it first! I mean, I love them mostly for the aesthetic of the town and the creatures, though I have learned overtime that the creatures really aren't the best overall. Point is, thanks for the vid! Will be looking forward to the future guides!
Just stumbled on this channel by accident. I didn't realize people still played! HOMM3 is a game my brother played when it first came out, and we still play it together locally when we get together.
Beautifully done. Fast paced and detailed. I expect videos like this take a lot of time and effort to create, but I for one would be happy if this became a series. (Do tower next! :))
This is the best summary that I know available - perfect in every way - with respect to your selection of actual heroes, however, I do find that Sephinroth is often under-rated. Her crystal ability is awesome for those scarce resources and she usually gets good secondary skills. That is the only quibble I have. Keep up the great content!
Man, this format was splendid. I imagine it took quite a while to put together and such but I think we'd all be happy to see you expand and complete this series, if it ever becomes one.
Excellent, in-depth overview, great work. I would appreciate putting images of the resources when you list the prices of dwellings and units, it would be easier to read for the viewers.
Consider doing a guide on Inferno. The fact that health comes at a premium, and their creatures often struggle when compared to their most obvious counterpart, the Castle, seems to really put them off to a lot of people. But I've seen people defend them as a good choice under the right circumstances.
Agreed! ALL of the castle types can be utilized for success, but each require vastly different playing styles. Several examples: using the Archdevil's (and un-upped) 'no retaliation' ability effectively takes some SERIOUS planning with other creature stacks in one's own army. In other castle types, 'waiting' is ESSENTIAL with certain troops (usually weaker melee attackers). And in others, opening with an 'expert level' casting is critical (such as 'Slow' or 'Bless'). Endgame strats TOTALLY shift around as well. 😁 But, I love most every castle except Fortress (mostly because I hate everything except the Mighty Gs, but they can't fly).
Their heroes and starting map bias lend them to getting lots of spell power early, but unless you have intelligence or mysticism you'll find them wanting for mana more often than you'd like. Also while the units have the potential for high damage, they also have a large range (2-7 for cerberi for example) and don't inherently have access to bless or water magic specialization. So even if you manage to get bless from a town you'll likely have to hire from another faction in order to utilize it to it's full potential.
@@schoolofgrowthhacking They have couple of good heroes, you just need to known when and where to use them. Good main heroes: specialists in intelligence and sorcery (mage hero), specialists in demons and pit fiends (if you want fighter hero). Good backup heroes are +1 sulfur (because you'll need ton of it) and +350 gold (always nice early game bonus, plus she has schoolar to spread around Town portal or other useful spells). Good 2nd heros are cerberus and gog specialists because they start with those units and have extra, then you can boot them after you transfer units. On smaller maps, fireball and inferno specialists are good, alto Xyron (inferno) can be good longterm if you give him lot of knowledge, because all Inferno spellcaster heroes tend to get more Spell Power then knowledge naturally. The only thing that sucks about him is that he starts with Schoolar, which isn't useful on main hero (but ok skill on some random other hero).
One thing that was mentioned, but IMO not stressed enough, is just how random Dungeon is. The usefulness of Portal of Summoning varies massively based on the dwellings you have, which is mostly luck. The usefulness of Artifact merchants varies massively depending on which artifacts it allows you to buy and whether you can afford them. Sometimes you get several smaller artifacts that are relatively cheap but extremely useful. Sometimes none of the offered artifacts is very useful for you. Damage of many creatures varies massively. You might and might not get a Bless spell in your Mage Guild, which is a huge random variable. You may get a map with a lot of sulfur, or no sulfur at all. These are all things that you cannot really influence much or at all, so this town is, compared to other towns, really, really, really random.
I don't comment on many videos, but I wanted to express that I really found this video helpful and look forward to other towns. I play mostly HOMMV and HOMM3 and really enjoy analysis. I'm still at the "buy every creature" stage, and learning more about when it's beneficial to pick and choose goes a long way for me, especially since some heroes specialize. Thanks again!
There is a new game coming from the original creators of Heroes 3. They call it a spiritual successor to HOMM3. Same lead designer, game developer etc. Maybe even Paul Romero for soundtracks. Game is called Fanstratics. Help spread the word!
Great town review. Back playing the base game, I always had this ranked as the 3rd strongest town, but your breakdown to the various strengths and weaknesses was very helpful.

Love this game and this guide was super helpful. This game really needs more beginner friendly guides like this one because it helps people like me get into playing! Great work man
Thank you very much for this guide. Very well written and paced, I've been playing this game since my childhood and come back to it often, but never really found the ressources needed to comprehend the depth of it. Dungeon is definitely a mage city. Mana vortex, one fast unit immune to all magic,... Just grab some dragons and Armageddon and enjoy. @@DOGEreal City with fast, magic immune creature, mana vortex and highest chance to get Armageddon is not mage city for you? Also from how I tested Deemer, he has great chance to get Spell power, so he can have few dragons, spell power 50 and Armageddon. Unless you meet all magic/fire magic immune creatures, you should be fine.
Loved the guide. Please do these for each town when you have a chance. It was a lot of fun to watch and even after so many years. I still learned something from it.
Absolutely awesome guide! I especially like how you add many useful details and explain many things much further than the game itself explains. For example: when talking about mana wortex you also explain which hero gets the bonus, and when talking about troglodytes you immediately bring up Shakti and how his specialty affects their speed, etc. Really looking forward for more!
Great guide! Well organized, edited, and narrated. Keep em coming! Dungeon was always my favorite growing up. Always felt like a weird town of misfits. Would you do a video comparing the grail structures of each? And whether that changes the grade?
Very good overview of the town. My wife always plays this town, and I usually am the Castle. Pretty detailed, and great info! I would love to see a Castle and Rampart town video.
Really happy I came across this guide, Dungeon is easily one of my fav towns just based on aesthetics alone. Looking forward to more town guide's from you ^^
Sometimes I'm tempted to put Grail in Dungeon just for the aesthetics (and extra Dragon). Usually only Conflux can compete, because all spells is a damn good benefit.
Hey man, I have never played Homm3 before, always homm5 since I was a little brat. Nonetheless I wanted to start but felt quite intimidated by all new factions, units and mechanics. Your guide was the best guide I've seen. I was ready to leave homm3 behind but here we go, another chance thanks to you. Too bad there arent guides of other factions. Anyway, thanks for this amazing guide.
Very well done! For the past year I've been revisiting the Heroes series. Started with Heroes 6 which might be my overall favorite, then had a steady binge of Heroes 3 and a few maps on Heroes 5. Very nice guide you've made, I mainly do uber huge maps so speed at start isn't quite as critical for me. Interesting analysis if the creature, really enjoyed this and makes me want to play!
Got back into Heroes last week with my friends and I found Your channel today. Dungeon is my favorite faction so I am loving this guide. Please do more if You can :D Like and Sub well earned!
I bloody LOVE playing as Deemer & Damacon with Dungeon... and as Ivor & Jenova in Rampart. Granted, Ivor loses his edge if he doesn't develop 'Offense' (and so does Deemer if he doesn't end up with Exp. Earth MGC), but, I also utilize obvious judgement + artifacts to figure out who my ENDGAME hero (or heroes) will be. 😎 To me, THAT is the best part about HoM&M3: all the unknown factors contribute to using ingenuity and creative ways to triumph over their weaknesses. Sometimes, just using creature stacks in tactically 'wonky' ways can REALLY influence the results of a battle. There are *SO* many times I tried a battle 'traditionally' and LOST... but with just a few tweaks of creature stacks + changes with magic casting... boom, success. I'm certain that other players achieved similar results from time to time.
This was the first video of yours I have seen. It was fantastic, very nicely paced and informative. I am going to subscribe just to see more of these so hopefully you make more.
Nice video! My personnel opinion based on 23 years of playing HoMM III, the Beholder are one of the best unit in the dungeon rooster and also one of the best shooter in the game. Despite being a low level unit, they are absolutly cost worthy, we (two of my younger brothers and me) always placed it higher respect than Medusa, Ice Elemental, on pair with Archmage and Grand Elf, below the 1) Titan, 2) Cyclops King ofc. Though I'm not a Dungeon main, but a Barbarian. ;)
grate guide. i've been plaing this game for a long time. and i found out some new things pls make more. i would love to see one for necropolis in particular

Could you do this kind of video with all the towns? Really hard to find videos explaining the strategies of HOMM3.

Awesome guide! Another pros about Dungeon's units is that they have 2 shooters and 3 flyers, which is very useful for sieging enemy towns.

Fantastic guide! Please give us the other town episodes!!!
This was super useful, thank you so much. Naturally, I'd love to see all towns :-)
It’s time for all remaining towns!
To me, THAT is the best part about HoM&M3: all the unknown factors contribute to using ingenuity and creative ways to triumph over their weaknesses.
Great guide - can't wait to see you create guides for the rest of the towns.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video! Would love to see other towns as well!
Loved the video! Easily best town overview on YT. I can only wish you would cover the other ones too :)
This was the first video of yours I have seen. It was fantastic, very nicely paced and informative. I am going to subscribe just to see more of these so hopefully you make more.
Wish you would make more of these, this was great 👍🏻
Though I'm not a Dungeon main, but a Barbarian. ;)
Hay man, please make other towns strategy guides too. Really helpful video!
grate guide.
i've been plaing this game for a long time. and i found out some new things
pls make more. i would love to see one for necropolis in particular
You've made a really helpful video. We all hope you make for all races. Thank you ☺️
Minotaurs also make for really good Necropolis supplements since they can never have negative morale and can still keep up with the other necro units.
Wonderful work! Can you please do the rest of them? I'd love to see your perspective on various towns
