The trick is to hide the Cyclops behind his own ammo cart and block them with his own blinded troops, in this case the Pit Lords. You must have Archdevils too, along with ring of speed to win the third turn. And, the Sharpshooter's Bow, of course, to be able to shoot when blocked. And then just wait until his mana is exhausted. Having doubled your own mana before fight, you can raise your troops and kill them one by one. Use your shots carefully, they're only 24.

I actually don't like when the game gets to these over-dimensioned levels of unlimited mana, every spell in the game maxed out with thousands and thousands of troops clashing. It's more fun when the numbers are small and the outcome of a battle is dependent on extremely delicate and subtle variables such as unit characteristics, flight, no retaliation, number of hit points, stats etc. Sometimes less is more

Yes, I always felt the game got a bit unruly when the numbers got this big.
I enjoyed the opposite. I leveled to pointless OP and then cast a 3000HP implosion on helpless units :D :D

I think a normal opponent will find a fireball or meteor shower to fix the problem in 1 turn.

@@harabe1sh1o yes ammo cart can be destroyed, but if it is your ammo cart, you can only destroy it in battle with an area of effect spell. so like others are saying, its probably a limitation of the AI.
Good move with ammo cart blocking the Cyclops. You learn something new every day.
Or you can blind 2 stacks instead of one. Like it matters with 50 spellpower.
I don't understand one thing: why your opponent wasted all the magic points for nothing ??? he should cast cure on the pit lords, that is first thing to do.
Because it's not pvp match. And AI sucks at cleansing spells

@@maryjoy2092 This is Wayfarer (E) map. Its single map where you have only 4 heroes. Yog is Orrin with Archery, Ciele is Dessa with Logistics, Gem is Mephala with Armorer and Kilgor with +2 Speed.

То чувство, когда сейчас проходишь убер сложные, кастомные карты с 200% сложности без потерь(А-ля парагон и тому подобный пиздец.), а в 2012 году я бы до такого при всём желании не додумался. Ты крут, конечно.

Oh I remember abusing OP spells like Resurrection sooooo often. Also Town Portal, Dimension Door :D My favourite hero was Jeddite with the Resurrection specialty. I always knew these spells were too OP, even game breaking, but I enjoyed it every time nonetheless :-) Made me able to win impossible fights. Good times.
Очень классная победа. Хотя и мало применима против человека. К тому же, слишком много условий должно быть соблюдено для успешной победы... Но, как я понимаю, это специальная тактика для прохождения определенного боя на определенной карте.

I feel sorry for the nowadays kids playing games that are crap and catch their eye only because of stunning graphics. Heroes III is the eternal shit - runs on XP, Vista and Win7 (I have tried only those so far), has ridiculously low system requirements, and both its concept and the idea were executed perfectly. It is a game you can play for years. Two days ago I started playing after a break of around 7-8 years.
You can play it for years yet you stopped playing it for 7 years...

I used to play the game for years, however then comes something that you obviously have yet to experience - it is called growing up. Therefore instead of playing games I have obtained bachelor and master's degrees and now I am a working man. I can't afford the time to play games anymore, kid.

Works perfectly fine on Windows 8 (aside from occasional crashing - luckily, the game autosaves one turn away from the crash everytime). Truly is a classic. Games nowadays don't have the same amount of replay value or enjoyment as such an old game like HoMM III has!
xI777Ix It works on windows 10 aswell (although it crashes sometimes.) I actually started playing this at 2011 I think (yes, 2011!) It was my cousin that showed me this game and I was still amazed by it. Right now I started playing this again and I still think it's one of the best games I've ever played.
This game was what I was raised on. I am glad I still have it. This game and Medieval 2 Total War was the shit!

One little useful tactic you could have also used is to wait the archdevils, then attack when it comes back to them, then return to their original position on their following turn. With their high speed and no enemy retaliation, they will receive 2 turns in sequence, allowing for a free attack with no hindrance to their health or position on the field. I realize for this particular fight it wouldnt have made much of a difference, but still useful nonetheless
Do you know where can I find modification that show in parenthesis (next to "lots", "several" etc) numbers?
And because his Pit Lords stood by the Cyclopes and they would suffer from Magog's splash too. In some cases, AI doesn't take such thing into account, but in most of them, he does.
Pit lords weren't blind for several turns while being next to the cyclops.

Nice one, but why didn't you just destroy the first aid tent so you wouldn't have to watch that animation over and over
I shouldn't have wounded his troops before resurrecting, that's the mistake. First Aid Tent isn't worth spending the shots for it.
Besides, I'ts and old version of Heroes where you have to wait for the sounds and animations to end before doing anything else. In newer mods sounds run in parallel stream so it doesn't bother you so terribly.

Theres one thing that has been annoying me for a long time and that is that the spells you get in your mage guilds are completely random. Is there any way to change this so that you always get fixed spells (Town portal) at level 4 for certain towns?
Or maybe so that if you have Berserk in 1 town it will not appear again in another.

Not sure, you might be able to do that in the map editor, when you place a town on the map you should be able to edit some things. It's been a while since I looked at that so I don't remember.
ShoutsWillEcho1 Ah, I expect to see that spells in Guild Magi as soon as possible too. But, once you started to play the map, you cannot change any starting conditions. Usually, spells are given to you randomly unless the mapmaker sets them himself. If you want to get some spells for sure you can open the map via the mapeditor and change them and then save the map. But this is considered as a cheat. Better play the map as it is.

i must say, a perfect use of a weak AI abbilties. Honor to U my friend, this tactic may come in handy in various campaings when enemy is just overfed with units. A well earned Like champ XD
Its far more easy to use mass slow and then blind them one by one.After that you kill each unit easily and you don't spend so much mana.

you lost 5 devils so this is only an Advanced tactical fight not an Expert :)))
For expert level he would resurrect this 5 devils, it's just a matter of time.

I would blind him and attack after remove blind spell when it's my turn this is clearly fake there is no chance to win this this is fake or the other player forget that he can unblind the sam turn and just switch soliders turn

he resurrected all the cyclops before starting shooting, this is smart, otherwise he wouldn't have enough shots to kill all of them.
Number of shots don't change but damage
@@oskarmadry550 Number of shots "needed to kill all the enemies" do change. Think about how many shots you need to kill 1000 earth elementals with 1 cyclop, and how many shots you need with 1000 cyclop;
@@yangzhao8900 so that isn't number of shots but number of Units, Cyclops only have 24 shots
@@oskarmadry550 I don't know why this is so hard to understand. If you have only 1 cyclops, even after you spend all 24 shots, there will be still a lot of enemies to kill. If you revive the 1000 cyclops first before wasting any shot, you can kill all of them with 24 shots. Do you get the point?

Nice setup. thup for this... i didn't know range attackers can attack others when blinded enemy unit nearby tough!....edit: Russians are best in gaming and that HD+ mode they've created!?...man! that was a huge contribution to all "HoMM3 forever" fans.

because then he'd deal damage to his pitlords and ammo cart, and AI tries to avoid friendly fire

How could the cyclops keep going before all the other units towards the end there? Did he keep increasing the cyclops speed or something?
That's why he mentioned that Ring of the Wayfarer is needed. It gives +1 speed and Cyclopes becomes faster than Cerberi, the rest (aside of Efreets and Arch Devils) is slower anyway :)
По той же причине, что и он: все его войска ослеплены или не могут добраться до моих войск, а значит, игрок полностью пропускает свой ход. Вот и выходит, что я хожу непрерывно.
а почему он не кастует на циклопов ослепление или просто молнию зачем он элементалей земли то кастует?

It is interesting, but there is a more efficient and simple combination of Force field + Forgetfulness + Counterspell.

There are more difficult and interesting combats in Paragon map. In this battle you can see original use shaport bow vs II. But this battle I use force-field and anti-magic, I think. (Sorry,English isn't my language).

Why doesn't the cyclops have area damage
That's a good question. I think Crusader is the best level 4 creature, particularly for its double strike, though other creatures do not fall behind seriously. Second place are Silver Pegasi and Vampire Lords and the third place are Archmagi. The worst level 4 creature is, perhaps, an Energy Elemental.
Bogdan Sverediuk the best lvl 4 is vampire because of its life drain and no retaliation.
shdba Oger's have a ridiculous health stack and cast a nice buff spell, I'd put them in the top with vampire lords. crusaders are not too hard to kill since their damage source dosn't help their retaliation.
