In the USA, a lot of people consider the Christmas season to start either on Thanksgiving Day or the day after Thanksgiving. My partner’s family considers Christmas to start once Santa has gone in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!

Growing up when I would be in the hospital, the other kids my age were very... infantilized by their parents, in a way that they didn't have the hopes and dreams that I had. They never dreamed of working or living on their own or getting married, and these were kids with primarily physical disabilities similar to mine. We had little in common and in a lot of ways I had a hard time getting along with them; me a nerdy girl who loved school and fashion and reading. And RUclips wasn't really a thing then. Oh what a difference it would have made to have been able to watch you back then. You may have just inspired me to start making videos of my own someday.

Yesss, veganuary, go for that! Try eating lots of sprouts, it has lots of nutritions and proteins. Tofu is delicious if you just know how to cook it, Pad Thai, rice, pasta with mushrooms, pumpcin soup, broccoli soup (if you can eat broccoli).

One of the greatest memories of Christmas as a kid was learning about Saint Lucia as my good friend was Swedish and she would do the tradition. She shared her tradition at school (maybe second grade) and I got to help her walk around the classrooms and hand out cookies
My parents have a collection of movies on dvd. There all on a shelf in the living room. I’ve looked at the shelf countless times since I was 9. I would notice “The L Word” and I always thought it meant the word “Love”. It’s only recently that I watched a short film about a young woman struggling to come out to her family, and she watches this film. Now that I know I’ve been wrong for so long, I have the urge to watch it! I mean, I’m ace, but it does sound interesting!

Anyone wanting to volunteer with the homeless over Christmas please note that charities are often overrun with volunteers at Christmas. So make arrangements very early on. Better still, volunteer a couple of hours a week when it isn't Christmas. Volunteering can open up a whole new world.

A dear friend owns a pub here in Ottawa and he does a Christmas dinner for people who don’t have a family to go to. I will be helping him out / eating dinner there. The proceeds from the dinner goes to a summer camp for kids living with HIV/AIDS.

Theres this girl, a friend who I (gay) and several strait and gay friends all agree has a massive crush on me. Seriously reminded me of the water coming in that claudia mentioned. Until stumbling upon your videos a few years back I'd never known of another chronically ill, disabled, femme lesbian, and was unconvinced that I'd find someone who could love me romantically. Have I found someone? Not yet, but seeing your and Claudia's complete unconditional love for each other changed the way I viewed myself and my ability to be loved (for lack of a better phrase). Even more importantly, I found someone walking a road similar to mine. Thank you, Jessica, for sharing yourself, your story, and your knowledge--you are a role model I wouldn't have had otherwise!

Ellie, I’m 21. I’m disabled and sapphic (im like 90% lesbian but i have liked guys too). It’s hard sometimes. Hard isn’t even a strong enough word... but its also amazing sometimes! When I show friends Jessica’s videos, they always tell me my girlfriend and I are a lot like her and Claudia! I’ve been with her 2 years now, and she’s my favorite person. Between finding my chosen family, slowly being accepted by my biological family, and finding her... honestly I’m happier now than I ever was before the chronic illness got worse. Jessica, I just want you to know (if you're ever having a bad day) that your channel means so much to me. I descovered you after my most recent suicide attempt (I first tried when I was 7 years old) and as a young disabled women getting on with life and just generally being awesome you really helped me pick myself back up and try again. You always make me smile and remind me it's okay to be myself. Thank you for all you do, never stop believing in yourself and don't push yourself to hard as wearing yourself down will help noone and will just make you feel rubbish. Your best is enough and so much more. ♥

I'm from the south in the US, and we here tend to, at least in my area, say this constantly to almost anyone and everyone that we care for. We do genuinely mean it, but, I noticed a lot of people outside of our states tend to just be incredibly confused by it.
@@Rach1313 I live in Ohio but have family in Tennessee, Alabama and Florida and I generally prefer the people in their regions because they tend to be more overtly friendly and loving. People here are just weirded out if you are overly friends with strangers.

RE: veganuary, I'm vegan and low fodmap! Eating out can be a struggle but on a daily basis when I'm just at home, it's totally fine. I also have chronic pain so I've worked out quick, low energy meals that I can make. Give it a try!
