    Few things I forgot to mention...
    There are 2x RGB SCART inputs but no SVIDEO (which was on the MX7000)
    The picture is much much brighter and a huge improvement over the MX7000 so removing the contrast screen is no longer necessary
    Full Colour and picture adjustments can now be made on the RGB input mode (previously not possible on the MX7000)

I run my consoles via retro gaming cables and official cables and looks so good. I’ll be buying another and storing for back up if see another one pop up on eBay close by.

    I got one about 2 years ago. Fantastic. I now watch all my movies on it and buy CD’s to listen to on it. Sadly the speakers have blown, the foam disintegrated. I’m building up the nerve to try and remove them and replace the foam things, none online are an exact match for size, couple of mm off, so I’m worried it won’t work.
    One of the few benefits of cheaper/lower end CRT’s would be cardboard speaker cones - much less affected by age.

    • @RetroFlex1981
      @RetroFlex1981  3 года назад

      Yeah i've seen an old MX4000 which I repaired for a friend where the speaker foam / rubber round the outside had turned to dust! I'm sure as long as you find a speaker with the same specs e.g. impedance then it should work just fine! As long as you can mount them in the same holes of course.

I just tested it out and got it working :) I read the manual and it refers to it as a camcorder input it says to switch to TV input first and turn on the device and yep lo and behold it switched to the AV input, alternatively it says you can press list on the remote repeatedly until CAMCORD* is displayed and then press GO. Hope that works for ya, let me know how you get on.

    • @RetroFlex1981
      @RetroFlex1981  3 года назад +1

      Hi. I am not aware of an option to adjust the image tilt in the service menu, even this set has a small amount of it as the bottom line of the 240p test suite does go off the screen more at the bottom left than it does the right side so is a bit uneven but then no consumer set is going to be perfect! How bad is it? If you look in the video description there is a link to the service manual pdfs I uploaded and it has a page where it details what all of the service menu options do so worth a look! You might be able to correct some of it with the east west or bow settings.

    If you open up your SCART cable and disconnect pin 8, the widescreen problem goes away. I have an MX4200 that has the same behaviour. For some reason, every SCART cable seems to wire up pin 8 with the voltage that sets 16:9.

      Better RGB mode colours as they were a bit washed out and couldn’t be adjusted on the 7000 and the 8000 also has a much better menu system and a few others things I’ve already mentioned in this video and the pinned comment. However the 7000 is still a great tv it looks identical to this one and has the same amazing active sound system, they are a lot more common (in the UK anyway) as took me a long time to hunt down an 8000.

    • @RetroFlex1981
      @RetroFlex1981  10 месяцев назад

      yeah the MX4000 and MX7000 are known for being a bit dim due to the contrast screen in front of them (which can be removed btw), plus they are old sets now its likely that some of the components might be wearing e.g. capacitor. They should still have a nice picture if its working correctly!

    I used to own one of these about a year ago I sold it. I couldn’t handle the flickering. It was giving me a headache. My question is, is there a way to reduce the flickering of crt tvs? Because I just found a smaller version and I really want it. But I need to reduce the refresh flickering.

    • @joindivision1090
      @joindivision1090 Год назад

      The flickering might be if you feed it an interlaced signal like 480i some people are more sensitive to that than others. If you feed it a progressive scan signal like 240p in theory the flickering is reduced by half.

    • @RetroFlex1981
      @RetroFlex1981  Год назад +1

      yeah I agree it sounds like you might have been watching an interlaced source like a ps2, one thing I find that does help with this is running games at the american NTSC 60hz (480i) output rather than the slower PAL 50hz output (576i) as I personally find the interlacted flickering much more noticable when its a PAL game.
