Hello buddy! Sorry I have a few questions about swapping the cam! Do you have to put the push rods in the same order? And top to center is just for changing cam right?
Hey man quick question, I got done installing my rocker arms and pushrods but just wondering am I supposed to push the pushrods a bit down because I didnt on the first head but I did on second one do you think it should be good?
I’m not sure I understand what you mean by pushing the pushrod down. The pushrod will seat in the end of the lifter. Sorry for the late response. I just saw your comment.
Im did my lifters but i dont know what i did wrong , yes i did deep them in oil for a day , new lifters sre still knocking i do have oil pressure above 40 psi , im about to change the cam aldo hope nosie goes away , cool video by the way
Hey cuz that's because yeah I did the same thing to my 2005 Chevy Silverado I put a stage 2 Brian to leave racing cam in it and I also change the spring for the H2 shift kit and racing parts in the transmission with a super servo I haven't got it tuned yet when I got the tune on it I did not have any of those parts in it so I have to go back and get it returned do you think it will make a big difference once I get it tuned with all that in there and a 2800 stall on the transmission??
Ah working on mine right now and trying to rotate the cam to come out but it’s hard to rotate but I didn’t take the rockers off or anything valve cover still on
The 80e transmission has a longer first gear then the 60e does so if you’re in the lower power range like maybe 450 and below you’ll definitely feel a loss of acceleration when starting from a stop. On my truck it was very noticeable. The gears and stall will also affect this.
@@REDRUMRx7 thanks this helps a lot! I’ve been leaning more to a manual swap on my truck cause I didn’t wanna go through a lot of 4l60s like my homie does neither do I wanna feel a loss of power
That’s actually a typo. It should read HR673 not HR637 although 673 is not referring to the lift of the cam. That’s the part number from isky. The cam specs were .212 dur and .561 lift @.050. Def a small cam.
Appreciate you my guy, my norris cam and supporting mods just arrived. I be feeling confident to do it soon myself watching this.
Fastest cam swap in his 20 min 😂 lol good content
Nice work! I'd be super nervous to nick the cam on re-install
I practice a fine line of winging it and most of the time it works out 😅
@@REDRUMRx7 lolz .. gotta learn somehow.
Thats a close fit with ac condenser! So glad i dont have to Mess with it, my ac blows ice lol
That's a sick lil sierra man 🔥💯😈
Thanks. I recently traded it for an 86 regal. If you want to see more pics of the truck check out my Instagram @redrum_rx7
It was really helpful im gonna cam my 2000 sierra soon
Nice job. Sounds good.
Thanks man 👍🏼
No truck sounds good without a tune with a cam swap
I have a sage 2 cam and I'm doing the valve springs and torque specs do you really have to rotate the motor or just torque them down to 22
Just torque them down. Rotating the motor is unnecessary.
How has the truck been holding up since the cam swap?
@@Jj308 its been a few years and I don’t own this truck anymore but I know who has it and its still doing good. The current owner put a turbo on it.
thats great to hear, im skeptical on throwing a nsr camshaft in my healthy high mileage 5.3 lol
did the front seal leak oil after heating the crank pulley on a rubber seal
No. I’ve done this method multiple times with no problem.
I would put a piece of thin plywood in front of rad. So easy to pull cam into it

Should’ve replaced the lifters as well, right?
@ there was nothing wrong with the lifters. Why replace them?

Good video did you get a tune afterwards??
Yea I did, I got it street tuned a couple days after.
Niceee definitely more content you motivate the people 💯

It will make a slight difference in the tune but not major. Still it’s best to go ahead and have the truck retuned.
@@REDRUMRx7 thanks bro for taking out the time to reply I will go ahead and do that
@@jaylenmyjj695 no problem, sorry i didn’t reply sooner. I must have missed the notification.
Nice work bro
Thanks 👍🏽
Do you have to take the rods and rocker tray out before you spin the cam to come out?
Yes

Ty yeah I just watched the whole thing how u did it , thanks bro going to take off the rockers and tray off right now
@@Victor-sq8fo cool. Good luck with your project man. 👍🏼
Hey man question where did you find the rods I try Walmart and nothing
Bad ass ia m going to do my cam swap myself to
Do you keep the air compressor on when you change vaulve springs or do you just put a little air
Leave it running the entire time.
Ok thank you
They got retainer rods u stick in the head so u don’t gotta remove the head or anything
@@GuadalupeVillanueva-l2y my method doesn’t require removal of the head..
How driveable was it with that cam before tune?
What size pushrods did u use
I reused the stock pushrods.
What length was that
7.385 or closer to 7.400
I don’t know for sure. The stock pushrods aren’t labeled and I didn’t measure. I believe they’re 7.4 though.
Can you run it stock .? Or does it need to be tuned
Mine ran very poorly without being tuned. In my opinion it absolutely needs to be tuned.
🔥🔥🔥
👊🏽
Whats the name of that throttle body?
@@Wizkid824 honestly idk. It was the cheapest one on eBay.
What’s the length of your wooden rods
I don’t remember what length I bought.
So the only new components are a new cam, springs, and possibly a new cam retaining plate?
Yup. That’s it.
@@REDRUMRx7hola amigo eso funciona sin alguna reprogramacion al ordenador?
@ depende las especificaciones de la leva. Algo pequeño como un “stage 1” es possible que funcione con la programación original.
👍
what was wrong when you first started her up
The 99 ecu apparently got damaged somehow. I switched to a 411 ecu from an 01 and everything was fine.
@@REDRUMRx7 bet good work you been doing tryna get my 5.3 sierra right you think a leveling kit can handle performance upgrades?

Is it true that the 4l80 robs power?

I’m getting to cam my Tahoe. Any reason why you didn’t swap the timing chain and oil pump while in there?
If it ain’t broke why fix it? 🤷🏻♂️
Should’ve swapped out the oil pump and put a milling oil pump
What psi your compressor set to?
W/e the default setting is for one of those small dewalt compressors.

Did you had to connect the air hose for every spring? On the spark plug hole ?
Yes. Compressed air through plug hole. Every cylinder.
@@REDRUMRx7 should have added it on the video would be really helpful.
