Hey Matt thank you so much for this quick how-to! It was easy to follow and great for just getting to the point! I'll let you know how it turns out, and I am looking forward to learning more of the finer details in more of your videos!
OK got my gen 3 5.3l running from this information. Thank you for your time and willingness to help people. I've been. Burnt so many times with tuners taking my money with the minimum amount of things done only for my vehicle to run like crap and have to take it to someone else
I will be using Matt's video to start my '02 Silverado tomorrow. I will check back in and give it a str8 review. Matt seems to be on the forefront, which is why I went with his advice. I did new heads, nice cam (218/224-553/553 w110LSA) 2 1/2"long tube headers with 3" Dynomax exhaust, TBSS intake fed from a Volant CAI. Real curious to get her thumping...
Hey Matt can you do one of these for the 99-02 gen 3? I cannot for the life of me find the throttle cracker for my 02 turbo tune with a mild cam and mild converter, when approaching stop signs the idle will drop and the engine wants to die. I was going to try adding spark to the low idle recovery table but didn't know if that would be the right way to do it or it would even come into play when driving. TH400 with working VSS.
You need to adjust the misfire counter for the camshaft. I do that in a few videos. This video is more about just getting the vehicle running. The misfire counter is an extra detail more for final tuning. Glad the truck is running good though!
Will this be the same for a manual I used this video to the Tee but it idles low when I’m driving and let go of the gas or put it in neutral then stalls
hello, ive had my car tuned by another person and the tuner kept informing me that my o2 sensors were lazy at idle, im not very experienced with tuning and was curious if youve ever experienced this when tuning a car? the sensors are brand new its a LS1 T/A with cam longtubes and supporting mods. ive done research and heard that with longtubes they cool down the sensors and mess with the effectiveness. anyway any feedback would be appreciated thanks.
You would’ve had to have missed a step or didn’t do one of the multipliers right for it not to run. There have been hundreds of people follow these steps with success. I’ve even had customers use this video to get their trucks running to drive to me to finish. My suggestion would be to start with the stock tune and make 1 change at a time, flash it and see how it runs with each change. Then you would learn what got messed up.
@@Matt_Sanford that's what throwing me off. Did every step exactly how you say. Redid it 3 times checking everything and it's the same as you show. Cranks and dies. If I go back to stock tune and add 200 rpm only, it runs worse. I do LS swaps for a living so I know it's not mechanical. I always send my builds off to be tuned, this is my daily so I figured I'd start learning here. I do have 1 bad 02 sensor and a shit knock sensor circuit so maybe that's throwing it off?..
Hey, I'm an OLD mechanic (Car/Aircraft), Gonna try and learn this tuning stuff. First thing I guess I need is HP tuners. Can you recommend best source and what I need to buy?
What table(s) should I be looking at to get the truck to pull cleanly from a stop. This lil bit of tuning got her running but she'll pull cleanly from a stop once or twice but then starts stumbling a bit on take offs after that. Any advice is always appreciated
@@Matt_Sanford Ok figured it why its taking off like its in third..the truck is staying in third. It will start out in 1st and go through the gears cleanly but will downshift to 3rd when coming to a stop and stay in 3rd?? If I put it in park/shut it off it will start out normally again....or shift it into reverse also puts it back into first and everything works fine until coming to a stop where it'll stay in third unless I do the above mentioned things (p or r or turn it off) I have the MPVI3 with rtd etc. The tranny shifted fine before the swap btw.
I have watched several other tuners trying to explain these steps but your videos seem the easiest to understand. Thanks for the info!

Thanks Matt, best vid I've seen anywhere for getting a fresh cam ls running!

This man should be WAYYY bigger. Especially tuning for CLEETUS MCFARLAND
I have to agree with Rick thank you for your info I’ve been dying for 2 weeks to get my truck to run right
okay... now since im a nerd, can you do a video on cam tuning with no maf.
great job keeping it simple. most guys way over complicate
Heard nothing but good stuff about you my friend…would love to work together on an upcoming project!!!
Thank you !!
Subbed!! Thank you for the info. Would this be good for a Elgin “sloppy stage 2”?

No adjustments for idle spark timing?
Do you have a video on desensitize misfire on cam swap thanks
anyone have any help on check engine light flashing for random misfire but truck runs good

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado with a LS truck swap cam with LS7 lifters would this tune work to get it?
Followed the steps exactly. Truck cranks and immediately dies. Runs ok-ish when i load my stock tune back in. Truck norris cam in my 06 avalanche.

@@sons_of_slewfoot_garage I had the same issue I retuned it using a different guide and no issues.

Also I just completed a 2006 Tahoe 5.3L rebuild and Truck Norris cam and figured I'd learn on it, LOL
Just buy it directly from HPTuners or you can get them from Summit Racing.

Do you have full exhaust on the truck?
@@Matt_Sanford Yep, outlets to right before the passenger side tire. No leaks.

What do you have to buy to load the tune on pcm?
An HPTuners interface. You can go onto their website and buy an MPVI3.
411 pcm ok to use?
Yes. Basically all Gen 3 ecms are 0411.
Brother thank you, just slow a little please. Not much just a little.
Hello Matt. Would you know anyone in Orlando that does LS tuning?
Thanks David
