I got the G430 set 3 months ago, driver to PW w/ 45, 50, 56 and 60 degree wedges, regular flex shafts, low 80’s swing speed and 12 handicap. I’m 64 and have played 23 rounds with them. I REALLY liked them right from the start, with much improved ball striking, and STILL do! But, I’m realistically averaging about 150 - 155 with the seven iron, and pretty “normal” averages with all other clubs too. Nothing special distance-wise, but I AM sure that they are very forgiving. I like them a LOT and would highly recommend them.
I've been fit by Kevin for a driver, a 3 wood, a 7 wood and a 4 and 5 hybrid and the results have been everything I could have asked for. I've been fit by a number of fitters over the years at various other golf companies and Kevin is hands down the best I've worked with. He's not only knowledgeable but he also brings something else to the table, he's a really nice guy and has the ability to make something that can be frustrating enjoyable. I'll be going back to see him next season when I'm in the market for new irons. Oh yes, best of luck in the 2024 US Senior Open!
Just got fitted for G430’s, also tested Callaway Paradigm and Mizuno JPX. Picked up over 10 yards of carry. Even on off center. I tend to hit toes. I’m 69 and play twice a week.
Would love to see a WITB with Kevin with thoughts on any changes he’s thinking of making, what clubs he loves and which ones give him the most problems.
This would be more helpful if someone with average ability did these videos. How many of us can carry a 7 iron 190+ yds? This data means nothing to a 14 handicap like me.
@@rogerwhite7719 Itll help you more than it helps them. They can hit whatever they want and it'll be good. Modern irons do a great job at helping mishits still get some distance and launch way better than older irons. Get fit and you'll see.
Sounds like if you do not have a certain swing speed getting more distance is not going to happen and it actually might have the ball NOT sit after you hit the green. I would like them to hit g25s vs g 430 and see the difference in decent angle and does the ball roll out more on one of these? I bet the new 430s roll out more than g25s because of the loft difference.
I purchased a set after demoing them and comparing them against my Mavrik irons. The Pings hit it just as far but with greater height and spin. Both irons were fitted with the same Mamiya shaft v
Thanks for the video. The new Ping G430 looks like a TaylorMade Stealth Irons. Would be interesting to see a head-to-head comparison between the Ping G430 and TM Stealth. Would also like to see how these do with a lower swing speed player.
Would love to try some of these in retro lofts. My swing coach had me use a set of G425's to dial in lie angle for me; my 7 irons were absolute piss missiles that carried almost 200 and rolled even farther. I bet a retro spec would fly to the moon. 😅
If I could make a recommendation, I personally would like to see just a short cut into the screen that shows all of the strike locations on the clubface for the shots used in the datasets of these club videos. Thanks in advance if you guys do that in the future and for all of the hard work that you do putting out these videos for us, you're doing great!
I just got back into the game after being dormant about 10 years. Approaching 60, still playing my old Cobra S9's. As soon as I can break 100 again consistently with my current swing, I'll take a few lessons and then get fitted for my next 10-year set of irons to help me break 90. Would these be good for me? (I've never swung a Ping).
I'm interested to know how you would fit an older person (late 50's) who swings at over 100mph to start with but slows down significantly by the end of the first 9.
Pretty straightforward review....these things are super sticks. Have to try them! I love Kevin's perspective on low hdc players gaming these irons. Over the years my iron play was the worst part of my game and the lowest index I was able to get to was 7. This past year I went the Game/Super Game improvement irons route (Cobra LTDx and eventually Cobra Forged Tec X) and my hdc dropped to an all time low of 0.3. Responsible for that huge drop in hdc was my chipping improvement as well, but forgiving irons took such pressure off when standing over the ball to hit it! What I'm hoping that these irons can do better than The Forged Tec X set I game is turf interaction since it seems they have narrower soles....but have to go try them. Thx guys!!
Yeah I think Ping did customers a disservice with the 7i going too far and adding another club so now what does a person do with a 7i that's lofted as at 6i. I had the 425s and the lofts/distance was good with 7i being 160ish carry, I don't need it going 190+ then adding an additional club between the PW and AW...They lost me on this line...I wanted to upgrade but not anymore.
Not having Thomas does not have the same feel within these segments. It might be a good idea to recruit one of the college players from U of M to help out in this regard. 👍
Kevin is a great ball striker and I have been fitted by him personally in MD. I actually prefer the interactions between Drew and Kevin more than with Thomas. Thomas was a great ball striker but sometimes a bit too passive.
The feel is very similar, but the weighting is a little different because the HL is designed with much lighter materials including shaft, grip, and a slightly lighter clubhead
Come on, an average Joe doesn't hit a 7 iron 190 yds. Get someone with a 12-18 handicap to test them, someone with slower speed swing, and thats the person these clubs are aimed at. Come on, get real!!
I got fitted yesterday and I’m a 17 handicap. I hit the Ping G430 7 iron around 190-200. They are EXTREMELY forgiving and the ball just jumps off the face. Go and hit them sometime and you’ll see.
That's what is holding me back from considering them. I like my pitching to be 46-47 degrees, then down to 50, 54 & 58. A 41 degree pitching wedge would play havoc with my gapping.
Got fit at that very location last weekend and ended up ordering g430s! So excited to get them!
Great job guys. Can you bring a average player in and show a fitting with the G430’s? Someone in the 10 to 20 handicap range.

Went and got fitted for my new G430's last week. Hoping they will be here in 2 weeks. They feel great and enjoy watching your videos.

Us 14 handicappers won’t hit them any better than what we have now, and they won’t sell fittings and clubs....hence, demos by great ball strikers
There are a couple of youtube lady pro's with driver swing speeds in the 90's and carry distance of 225 to 240 and very consistent.

Was wondering if strengthening 2* loft on my Ping G irons would put them in a distance advantage? What would be the negatives? Thanks.
Curious if the spin number is consistent in different conditions due to hydropearl / micromax.
i play off 8 and want these, have to swing slow now
What shaft do I need if my swing speed is 80. I’m 71 yrs old
I just ordered these with SteelFiber i95 regular shafts. What Ping stock shaft would best match up with the SteelFibers I ordered?
I'm a big fan of the Aerotech SteelFiber shafts. How did they work out for you?

You can get the retro fit with the original lofts with this set
Which results in 11 irons in the bag instead of 10 irons
Looking like 2 gap wedges will be the new standard for game improvement, noticed Paradym is the same way
Titleist has been like this for a long time as well
Ping has an additional wedge as part of the set
Can we see Dynamic Loft added to the dataset?
I believe it is 3rd from the right in the dataset, averaging 22.6, unless I'm wrong...

How many pros use them? I guess not alot
Few pros use the G430s -- they do not offer the workability and precision of a more compact iron like the i230s.
Way more consistent with these than the Paradym's
7 flies as far as my G 6 with 8 iron flight.
