I went for a fitting with the new stealth irons. After the fitter set it up to what he thought was good for me I really didn’t see much difference from my old M4’s. Then I went for a fitting with the 430’s. What a difference. Hit them further, higher and with a better spin rate. Ordered them right away. I’m 66 years old and a mid to high handicapper. I love these irons. After playing with them for a couple of months I can tell you that my handicap has dropped by 2 strokes and I am having more fun playing the game. And to me that’s what it is all about.
I found completely different results, Lee. I was hitting the g430 7 iron. Much higher and carrying it 170 yards with plenty of spin and 48 degree descent angle. Just shows that everyone is different. Glad I found your channel.
I don’t get the whole “some golfer won’t use these or are too good to use these” 95% of golfer could use these unless you are an elite player. A lot of club golfers use irons that are making life more difficult for them!! Posers….What golfer is going to complain about hitting it too straight!! I’ve been a low handicapper and I just bought these irons in the hope that they will make more consistent.
After hitting many irons in this category, I narrowed down to the 430, Mizuno 923 JPX and Stealth. For my slower swing speed (low 70's) and the mechanics of my swing the 430 was the best performing.
I bought a set coming from.old irons I had custom fit session and they ate brilliant have 100% brought my game on well worth the grand to biy them I rarely hit a bad iron shot and I'm a 21 handicapp
I own the G425's. I have mixed feelings about them. They are quite forgiving. But they feel like hitting rocks sometimes. I tested them against the G430's and the results were similar to Lee's comments. They go a bit further, but the 7-iron spin dropped 800 rpm, peak height was down 4 yards, and decent angle went from 47 average to 42. These may be better for some players, but the expected gains just aren't there for me.
I have been using the 425's for over a year now, have had numerous sets of irons over the years from many different companys and I must say they are by far the easiest to hit and best irons I have ever owned...they launch higher for me then any iron I have played so was suprised you didnt get the height. I found these so easy to play and launch that I ordered the 6 iron later, I usually carry a hybird since my club head speed is so slow. I hit the 6 just as well as the rest so very happy with my choice.
Hi Lee, I remember the nice holiday at Whitsand bay. I am still living in France. Soon moving back to uk. Will certainly come back again cause it is so friendly there and I also remember the fun round of golf we had! Take care
I actually just bought the G430’s over the Calloway smokes and TaylorMade. I had an old set of TaylorMade R7’s custom fitted with 6grahm rifle shafts. They were old and I don’t swing the ball the same way. I bought the ping g430’s, pha super store dialed me in with graphite shafts…gained 15-10 yarfs a club. Stopping on the green is not an issue as I have and extremely high ball flight. That being said, I have not gained much in the longer irons. Short irons have been a huge improvement.
I loved these they are in my bag this year. same carry, spot on spin and great forgivness. these were the best irons i have hit this year. compared to jpx hot metals, aero jets, stealth, and p790s.
Sound definite improvement on the 430s, performance not much in it but if its not broken no need to fix it, havent hit the stealth irons simply because of the look and that put me off straight away
What you failed to mention was club length, lie (I noticed orange dot), grip size and shaft. Maybe the clubs are not fitted for you. Just an observation from a Ping player.
Only problem ive had with the 430's is if you dont keep your swing speed down, you can hit the 7 iron 200 yards. Goes for all of the clubs. Get excited and your over the green.
I've never understood the term game improvement when it comes to clubs... I've never really met anyone who didnt want to improve... Even tiger changed his swing to try and improve!
Great video Lee. Found a mizuno fitter in Italy and having a fitting next week to see if I switch back to mizuno from my PXG ‘s. Any fitting tips please?
I think the G430 has a wider, or should I say longer, range of clubs at 11 irons, rather than 10 for the G425. And that is the reason I have ordered a full set.
Yup what's the point indeed! I have the ping G-max Irons and I'll bet they're as good or potentially better than these. Used GMAX sets are now 100-200 $ more than when I bought em used 3 years ago. 😊
What if a g430 8 iron went the same distance as your forged 7 iron and spun the same? Forget about the number on the club and even the loft. Please compare the spin of clubs that go the same distance and height
I went to be fitted for the stealth HD's last week and ending up being fitted and buying the G430's. Same distance (20+ yards on my Cleveland Launchers) but better flight, launch, dispersion and forgiveness than the stealth's. In my humble opinion..
@@MicksPlace64 Thanks for this information! Did you find the G430 irons actually easier to hit? May I ask plse how you found the Stealth HD overall? Many thanks Andrew
@@andrewferguson1013 I did like the Stealth HD's. My first few shots with them after hitting my current 7 iron were amazingly better. But once I had a number of shots with both clubs, the G430 'bad' shots were less punishing. I did try the cobra and the normal stealths as well. But the Pings just felt better and had better numbers.
@@MicksPlace64 Well I had my iron fitting on Friday! Yes, I did enjoy the Stealth HD, sure, but seemed to be pulling them quite often! Out of interest tried the Ping G430, and quite impressed actually! However, then tried same G430 but with Alta CB graphite shaft, and WOW lol!!! Lovely high trajectory, and pretty straight! For a club with reasonably thin topline, these are a revelation! Going to go back in a week or 2, just to make sure I didn't just dream it all!? Obviously demo'd 7i, which I'll never use as i use Ping 7H, so just wondering if 8i, 9i, and wedges are as easy to use, and with similar flight & trajectory?? Thoughts on these short irons welcomed plse? :) Cheers Andrew
Cold day and no warmup. Review them again when the weather is warm and your results are most likely different. I do agree with your assessment of the stealth irons... they are better clubs.
Forgiveness means different things to different people. I am a teens handicapper but naturally hit a draw and really struggle with offset. So playing blade style clubs is less destructive for me. Bad strikes are short but stay straight Vs horrible hooks with a game improvement iron.
The quality of g430 irons is not the same as g425 - look at the numbering, it is atrocious, the faces are marking very easy and the general finish is up to ...
Mate, you are becoming another mark crossfield with your honest reviews , be careful you dont upset the brands !no freebees for you bad boy !! Oh and your beard is starting to grow on me ,not literaly obviously ....... no i lied 🤣🤣🤣🤣 good review though mate ! Ps cant stand ping haha

That’s why ultimately people should get fitted. Welcome to the channel.
I agree John, I’m exactly the same as you. I had my eyes set on these, got fitted for them and they work exactly as they should.
Had the Mizuno 923 HL set for about a year now! Just changed to G430 and have to say they are longer and straighter for me! Satisfied so far!

Same here. Mizunos were close. TM just didn’t like the fat top line.
I would say acoustically they sound improved. I have seen a few reviews on them and they actually sound really good

I hit both the 425&430 they are the exact same so went with the 425 for $1100 cheaper for full bag

Just a beginner but love the G430 experience. Loved your review. Keep up the good work!

I agree about the stealth irons, they look so cheap and nasty that I couldn’t bring myself to even try them.
@2:17 you state you fear the offset will cause you to lose it a bit to the right. @6:20 you state the offset is causing you to pull it left.
What you failed to mention was club length, lie (I noticed orange dot), grip size and shaft. Maybe the clubs are not fitted for you. Just an observation from a Ping player.
Wow, that's weird. My numbers are quite a bit different as are the numbers on other reviews I've seen.

I have the G 410. They are clunky, and they tend to hook or draw the ball quite a bit. I bought some Calaway smoke irons to replace them.
Spin numbers are always lower when hitting off a mat. Hit off fairway turf. The spin numbers will be much better.
It’s about 500 difference.
Why don't you try standard loft ? A lot different indeed
Thanks for the honest review

It's launching lower and going farther than your 7 iron, solution- hit the 8 iron.
Right. It ain't rocket science.
I would like to see you test the Mizuno high launch clubs?
So the best game improvement you tested was the Stealth? Is that the HD or which one?
Original stealth
Where are you playing!? Amazing looking course
Whitsand Bay in Cornwall
They have brought these out to sell you more wedges! My g5 7 iron is 34° which I prefer.
Never hit the G425 but you did say they was not (in your opinion Lee) a lot of difference so I'm assuming the G425s are slightly offset as well.
Yeah offset too
I'm a high handicapper but I gone from Wilson D7 irons (and treated myself) to Ping G430 irons. They are a different class
Hi Lee, have you tried the new TM Stealth HD irons yet? Would be very interested as to how they compare!?
Cheers
Andrew
not yet, hoping too soon

That course looks fantastic 👍🏼
its a great underrated course mate
Cold day and no warmup. Review them again when the weather is warm and your results are most likely different. I do agree with your assessment of the stealth irons... they are better clubs.
I hit the g430’s better than the Stealth and prefer the look over the ball of the G430.
Using a quad and you dont post the club data, seems like maybe youre intentionally not showing why they performed the way they did
Forgiveness means different things to different people. I am a teens handicapper but naturally hit a draw and really struggle with offset. So playing blade style clubs is less destructive for me. Bad strikes are short but stay straight Vs horrible hooks with a game improvement iron.
Nothing wrong with the clubs you’ve hit poor shots
Because a person who plays these will hit the middle every time I guess 😂😂😂
Ping 400 or 430 irons
These are just so forgiving for me, it almost seems like cheating.
I just got them
Was the Freudian slip at the beginning as sign of unconscious bias? Sounds like lots of excuses for giving an unbiased review.
The quality of g430 irons is not the same as g425 - look at the numbering, it is atrocious, the faces are marking very easy and the general finish is up to ...
so g430 build quality worse than g425?
Well on the course it went high

if you can't tell the truth, you can't review in my opinion, luckily they don't send me the clubs I beg borrow and steal from other people hahaha
Inserts fell out of my ping g's. Buyer beware. Complete garbage
