Putter looks fantastic. Six of us were watching this video in a clubhouse in the West of Scotland, and we were all at the same time googling the Lab putter. I struggle to understand some golfers who will quite happily pay £500 for a driver, and yet won't go above say £150 for a putter. 45 to 50% of my game is putting if not more. Magic video, Gabe. Loved this one ☝.
Agree, mind you: LAB has an online outlet store too, I managed to find a Mezz Max there last year in my (remotely fitted) spec. Not in my favorite color but glad it had that pistol grip too. After I saw Lucas Glover win two titles in a row with it, and learning about the technology, I was really convinced that this was for me, as my weak point in putting is face control. That's gone now - only need to focus on the line and distance. Brilliant stuff.
This is a good point. I use driver on 12-14 tees and maybe 1-4 times off the deck on par 5 fairways, so at most 18 times. Paid $1100 for the latest Taylor Made Driver. Putts a round probably average 30-36 (we have massive greens at my course) so yes $900-$1100 for a LAB putter seems to make sense, especially if it can save 2-3 shots a round. These are Australian prices.
I started with the DF 2.1 and absolutely fell in love. I was hitting the lines that I was seeing and became so confident when I walked up to the green. I just got their Mezz Max in a Broomstick and having so much fun learning a different technique. LAB Golf is awesome.
@@LetsPlayThru I'm loving it! My accuracy in hitting the line I'm envisioning is so much better vs traditional putting. For the past nine months, I have been deeply engrossed in researching various putters to find the perfect one for me. It hasn't been an easy task, but I have finally found what I was looking for - the new DF3. This putter has all the features I've been looking for - balance, precision, and a comfortable grip. I'm excited to finally be able to make a purchase and get my hands on it. However, the new DF3 is quite expensive, so I will have to part ways with some of my backup putters to be able to afford it. It's not an easy decision, as these putters have been with me for quite some time, but I know it's worth it to invest in a quality putter that will improve my game.

I'm tempted to try broom stick. I had yips last year and used my hybrid like a broom stick and was making everything. I tried armlock and it worked great but went back to regular blade putter. I went to pga ss and this putter out of every single putter on that shelf felt the best. Feels insanely good and rolls true every single time. I could tell exactly where the ball was going to go as soon as I hit the putt. Looks outrageous but would play the hell out of this putter if I could afford one lol
I have the 2.1 and putted the best of my life. However the looks and travel (travel more) was really difficult with the 2.1 as it’s so big and hard to really keep wrapped and covered in the travel bag. Moved to the Mezz Max and still putting well but have been waiting on the DF3 to come out. Can’t wait to test it out when they get some demos at my local store.
I feel like i could most of the line control out of my Taylormade Spider but i will admit the customization on this to your personal stroke us unreal for a couple hundred bucks more. Seems worth it if its THAT important to you. My problem with the concept of a "lifelong putter made to fit you" is that over time your game and stroke will probably change as you age. At a certain point this custom fit might not agree with you anymore. I still have the custom putter my grandpa got fitted for me when i was 14. It was a bit long so i would grow into it and i still use it. But i had to change the grip from a standard lamkin crossline paddle to a superstroke pistol grip as my preferences changed. I also bought a spider as i wanted to try out a good mallet as well. I just dont know if 500 or more is worth it for my personal game when i already have the best of both worlds.
After hitting 12-14 gir and struggling to shoot 76 more times than i like, i have tried every putter i could, including a Dandy. I don't care what it looks or feels like if i can consistently start putts on line and make 3 footers. I have no problem paying 6-7 hundred dollars for a putter that instills confidence. Im happy with any driver made in the last 7 years, so i won't be spending on drivers or irons.
I'm getting ready to order a DF3 myself. 35"/70* were my measurements. I'm trying to decide which of the markings I want to go with for my design. My biggest struggle is lining up straight.
Great review! I was pondering getting an orange DF3 as well (broomstick when it's released) and I wanted to ask you if you think glare will be an issue in bright sunshine, with the orange head? I love the look of the orange, it's a real head turner for sure.
I have the DF 2.1 in Armlock (40") design. It's the best putter I've ever had but it doesn't putt by itself! You still need to read the line correctly and putt it at the appropriate speed. I'm a 5 GHIN but could be better by putting more assertively. But I lag too many putts because I hate 3 putting.
I may be a little exentric with my golf game, i love different looks and colors. My wedges are rainbow colors, and i love them. That being said, im not sure i could do the burnt orange color. 😂😅
LAB are tremendous putters. I have the Mezz Max and the original DF2.1 …. That 2.1 is hands down the best putter I’ve ever used. It’s not pretty, but to me it’s beautiful. This DF3 is the refined version of the 2.1 If any of you guys are on the fence, stop thinking about it!! Just do it!!!! You will not regret it!!!!!!
You like the DF a lot better than the Mezz Max? That's what I'm playing now & honestly it's hard to imagine the other one is even better. The Mezz Max has been SO good to me.
@@canyonaro everyone is different, but the science behind them are the same, zero torque. They both have the same resistance to twisting. It’s mostly visual, the MEZZ is really good too, but I just found the 2.1 was a bit better for me. Either way, you can’t go wrong
The original looked like a large branding iron, this looks like a small branding iron. I didn't hate the look of the first putter, but I do prefer the new smaller version. Love the putter reviews. Nice job. Question, what ball are you playing and have you done a review?
Just curious, but what style of putter do you typically use (blade or mallet)? I am considering buying a L.A.B. putter but I don’t know if I should switch styles since it would be a new experience putting with it altogether? 🤔
They have a blade style called the Link1 I been using a few weeks and really like it but ended up switching to the DF3 I usually use an anser style putter but figured the forgiveness is a bit better with the DF3 only downside with link 1 is to me it looks like a center shatters blade putter and doesn’t suit my eyes much BUT even still have putted well with it definitely would consider it
I use a Seemore putter and I am not looking to replace it! I really need the setup help it gives me. Offset on putter’s always makes me think the face is closed! I wish I could try one of these but as a lefty I would have to but it first!
Not sure if I can give up my ole trusty Odyssey Versa 9 WBW. Just like what Phil used to use. Not sure I couldn't watch this head going back. Lots going on back there.
Update. I got the DF2.1 month ago. Haven't putted better. Love this putter. Took maybe 30 mins to get the "weight" down. The ole Versa 9 is in storage...lol
Could this be the shape of things to come? It's fugly, but I think I could get used to it, especially if it took off some strokes. I just don't play enough golf to justify the cost.
My question is how to change the grip since the grip design is different from other products in the market. Does it mean that I can't use grips of other brands?
No. The lab grip slides on the shaft just like any other. It just has a built in lean. I have a 2.0 lab grip on my Scotty and am very happy with the difference.
I have seen several comments on cost for these putters, but very few “price debates” on drivers. You use a putter more than twice as many times in a given round as your “big stick” but we willing pay hundreds for the “distance myth”. Numbers are the only thing that “counts” in golf and while yards off the tee help, in the hole in one or two helps more!
My eye was initially drawn to the link, but when I tried a few of them, the mallets actually stood out. But just personal preference. I think with some practice I can really dial this one in.
What's the total weight of the putter? You might have mentioned in the video but is it a fully balanced putter including grip and shaft? Or just swing balanced in the head? IMO a fully balanced putter is just as important for distance control as head balancing for disbursement. Great stuff as always!
@@LetsPlayThru no biggie. Just curious as these L.A.B. heads always look super heavy so I've wondered about how they even out the rock on a toothpick feeling. I learned through the Edel fitting a few years back that adequate head weight is good but total weight and weight placement is crucial for distance and stroke control. Sounds like L.A.B. might have those bases covered with head placement and shaft orientation? Just the geek in me wanting to know how things work 😜
A lot of people complain about the price of these putters but they will spend 600-800 on a driver no problem. Fun fact, you hit your putter 3 or 4 more times a round than your driver.
Man, is LAB Golf pushing a lot of money into marketing. I keep see these videos making me want one which means the marketing works but I'm trying to hold myself back. I just bought a new putter last year!
How tall are you Gabe ? just trying to get an idea on my lie angle do you know if they ship to Canada ? I am 5'7 with a straight through putter swing very interested in this putter thx for doing the review of your putter cheers from Vulcan Canada
@@LetsPlayThru Yeah, I've watched it many times haha. But I didn't know if you preferred one over the other now with more rounds in? Or if you think one is more forgiving than the other?
None of those. LAB putters are lie angle balanced, which means the face of the putter is designed to stay square to the target. Unless you manipulate the putter in your stroke it will stay square to your intended line. Check out their website and see what the "revealer" shows you, very interesting!
@LetsPlayThru Great video, I was wondering if I can make a suggestion? It was hard to see but it looked like you were playing the ball too far back in your stance. Because the shaft is behind the putter head, the shaft should be lined up to the middle or a lifttle bit forward in your stance which means the ball should be like a fairway wood position in your stance (or driver depending on how wide your stance is when putting). I think you felt like you were compressing the ball because you actually were, with the forward press grip and having the ball back in the stance, you were hitting down on it. Youll still get that buttery feel when hit well (with the mezz I can def tell when I miss hit it), but its sort of more of a like a driver, you want to hit up on the ball. With the forward press and hitting up on it, the launch angle should be perfect -- ball too far back in the stance and youll be driving the ball in the ground. Idk if youve been on their youtube channel but they have video(s) about ball position and why they recommend what they do. Congrats on being converted too! :P Edit: went back and watched again. Ball position looks maybe forward enough? Its really hard to tell from looking from the side in a video. Hope no offense taken, just trying to help! Theyre weird putters and the set up changes a little bit but boy do they work!
DId you select the shaft or was that suggested by LAB Golf after they saw your video? Do you ave any thoughts on the TPT shaft (other than it is expensive)? Great video. Pretty sure I am ordering a DF3 very soon.
I don’t know the answer to that question, I think they all have the same “no torque” technology, so it really just comes down to what works best for you and your eye.
I noticed that you had lined up a few putts using a marking on the ball at the beginning of the review, but it wasn’t clear if you getting the ball to roll end over end. Was it easy to get the ball rolling end over end with the LAB? Usually it takes me a few practice sessions to get the ball rolling well with a new putter. I play the Srixon z star divide, so I can get visual feedback on how the ball is rolling.
A high-MOI putter is "most insane"? Fitted with weights? Try the Happy Putter. I'm disappointed it's not a stand-up putter. I play the Bloodline, and I will never use a putter that doesn't stand up again. It seems like a fine club, but how many golfers will actually go through a fitting? We are an off-the-shelf society. Price? $559. Does that include fitting? Are fittings done by people trained to do them with this putter?
That thing is gaudy and hideous. Looks like a concept club. I can see my buddies razing me about it, especially if I miss any putt with it. Haha! I'll wait for the next gen when they fix the look. Thanks for the reviews you do.
Take a look at the Link 1 by LAB. It has a more “traditional” shape. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” This is probably the same thing players said when they first saw the Ping Anser, now nobody gives it a second look!
Not a gimmic, Phil, Scott, Talatoris are using them already-i thought it was but obviously tour pros don't depent on free clubs right? Or on some money (I am sure new company can't offer 2millions to a player to ise its putter-ando also players won't take that "little" money to use it. Scott used newport2 20+ years and Phil his Odyysey for 20+
I'm wondering if anyone has played their blade-style putter...Link.1. I'm not a fan the mallet putter but the blade interests me. Any comments appreciated.
@simmonsfoursome I have the Link and the DF3, the Link is sweet, same tech as the DF3 just not as forgiving - it's a blade. However, I think it's more forgiving than traditional blades because the variable of the face wanting to twist in motion has been removed. The twist/torque is minimal when our hands are on the grip with traditional putters, but... (it's still there) and we are reacting to what we feel when the putter is moving. The pros are amazing at controlling that variable - they spend hundreds and hundreds of hours mastering torque. I've made more putts with the Link vs. other blades hands down. Feel can take a minute to get used to, if you are over using your hands and rotating the face due to years of counter acting the torque of traditional blades it can feel hard off the face, it's actually good feedback. Once you adjust to allowing the putter do it's thing, it feels like butter. Super soft off the face.
@@jboww196 Thanks for sharing your experience with the Link putter. Appreciate the detailed feedback you gave. Sounds like you’re going to need to stock up on “Birdie Juice” in your golf bag to share with your golf mates this summer.
I've got the Link 1 after playing a Ping Anser for years, the Link 1 is by far a better putter. I used to say "pushed it" all the time with the Ping- that just doesn't happen anymore with the L.A.B. I would say it plays like a blade but with huge amounts of forgiveness.
i can't help but feel, who needs all this in a putter? you could learn to putt with piece of lumber on a stick if you practiced enough. and they're hideous. i enjoy nice things too. i'm playing a piretti savona and putt well with it.

I could tell exactly where the ball was going to go as soon as I hit the putt. Looks outrageous but would play the hell out of this putter if I could afford one lol
I too tried it at the PGA Tour Superstore. The first time I hated it. The second time I gave into the technology, and yeah it’s amazing. 🤩
Travel is and interesting point I never considered. Makes sense.
I’ve just bought this putter and have yet to have a round with it, but the feel is awesome
I just dont know if 500 or more is worth it for my personal game when i already have the best of both worlds.
now im sure I do want the orange! love that color
Can’t wait for the broomstick to come out. I’ve been chomping at the bit for one!
Nice work with the camera and really nice looking putter
Have a LAB putter that I got used It’s helped my game tremendously. Big fan. Great review. 👍
Which model?
@@LetsPlayThru DF 2.1 with stability shaft. I got lucky and picked it up used at a Golf Galaxy. :-)
That putter looks pretty schweeeet - thanks for the excellent demonstration
Evenroll has used this forward press grip for years.
Would love to see a review on the Void putters. Their insert tech seems legit but there’s not many reviews out there.
The DF3 looks so much better than the DF2. I may have to give it a go!
Gabe, I have been using a DF 2.1. As long as you can get past the branding iron look it WILL make you a better putter.
Agree it’s jarring at first, but it’s getting much more comfortable to my eye.
Fam guy scene made me sub. Perfect!
I hope ya going to keep that in the bag, I’d love to see long term results…..👌
Hi mate, great video, thanks. May I as how tall you are just to understand the lie angle and putter length relater to hight. Cheers
I've got the Link 1 - the best putter I've ever owned by far.
Great review! I was pondering getting an orange DF3 as well (broomstick when it's released) and I wanted to ask you if you think glare will be an issue in bright sunshine, with the orange head? I love the look of the orange, it's a real head turner for sure.
The orange is matte, so no glare issues to worry about.
I tried one out and the feel is crazy good. How much of it is the shaft ?
Uh oh!!! Someone finally found their Billy Baroo. 😂
💯
Can you try the honu putter? it's really the only other putter that's similar to the lab!
I may be a little exentric with my golf game, i love different looks and colors. My wedges are rainbow colors, and i love them.
That being said, im not sure i could do the burnt orange color. 😂😅
Hey I get it, but it’s the LPT brand colors 😀
@LetsPlayThru lol. I was kidding. Just reminds me too much of the University of Texas. Lol.
Great video.. I have never seen a putter that looks like that.
Can’t wait for my DF3.
The 3 is definitely a little more appealing to the eye vursus the 2.
🤔 What made you go to the orange head ? Just curious. 🙂
My Brand colors + contrast against the green grass
👍
LAB are tremendous putters. I have the Mezz Max and the original DF2.1 …. That 2.1 is hands down the best putter I’ve ever used. It’s not pretty, but to me it’s beautiful. This DF3 is the refined version of the 2.1
If any of you guys are on the fence, stop thinking about it!!
I’m playing Legato balls. They are awesome and a great price. There’s a link in the description.
Putter certainly works
For me personally I hit out the toe on purpose for downhill puts, I even put the lower weight in the toe to have more variance in the distance
Interesting…how do you find that helps the putts?
Just curious, but what style of putter do you typically use (blade or mallet)? I am considering buying a L.A.B. putter but I don’t know if I should switch styles since it would be a new experience putting with it altogether? 🤔
They have a blade style called the Link1 I been using a few weeks and really like it but ended up switching to the DF3 I usually use an anser style putter but figured the forgiveness is a bit better with the DF3 only downside with link 1 is to me it looks like a center shatters blade putter and doesn’t suit my eyes much BUT even still have putted well with it definitely would consider it
Good job Gabe 👍👍👍
Thanks Kev
Loc N Roll from Graves has the same concepts, I like it. I believe the concept works better when you get used to it.
I’ll have to look into it, thanks
waiting for the broomstick version woo
Are you going to test those Legato golf balls? I’ve tried a few boxes and really enjoy them. Very ProV1x feeling to me.
They're awesome, you'll be seeing much more of them on the show.
I use a Seemore putter and I am not looking to replace it! I really need the setup help it gives me. Offset on putter’s always makes me think the face is closed! I wish I could try one of these but as a lefty I would have to but it first!
Check out your local PGA Tour Superstore if there is one in your town. They may have one to demo.
@@LetsPlayThru I would have to drive over 5 hours one way, just to see one. Also hope they had a lefty!
Very stable image. In focus all the time
Thanks for the feedback Barry
Great video.
The cost of these is NOT for mere mortals!😳
Indeed not
I have seen several comments on cost for these putters, but very few “price debates” on drivers. You use a putter more than twice as many times in a given round as your “big stick” but we willing pay hundreds for the “distance myth”. Numbers are the only thing that “counts” in golf and while yards off the tee help, in the hole in one or two helps more!
How do you like it compared to the Link? How do you find your pace control on long and short putts? Cheers
My eye was initially drawn to the link, but when I tried a few of them, the mallets actually stood out. But just personal preference. I think with some practice I can really dial this one in.
Hello, I'm a big fan of you from South Korea. Which putter do you think is better, DF3 or Jailbird 380?
Df3
Cameraman is great!
What's the total weight of the putter? You might have mentioned in the video but is it a fully balanced putter including grip and shaft? Or just swing balanced in the head? IMO a fully balanced putter is just as important for distance control as head balancing for disbursement. Great stuff as always!
HI Stu, I don't know that number, but I'll try to find out. Anecdotally, this putter feels right in the middle of light vs heavy.
If you read other people's comments, you will prob find out its not just marketing but the tech does work
How tall are you Gabe ? just trying to get an idea on my lie angle do you know if they ship to Canada ? I am 5'7 with a straight through putter swing very interested in this putter thx for doing the review of your putter cheers from Vulcan Canada
I’m 6’ 0”
L.A.B does ship international, just go their website and find how to do a remote fitting.
Would you choose the DF3 or the OZ.1i now that the OZ.1i is out?
I've got a video on that comparison for you.
@@LetsPlayThru Yeah, I've watched it many times haha. But I didn't know if you preferred one over the other now with more rounds in? Or if you think one is more forgiving than the other?
Very Prince and the New Power Generation
Oh man, you are right! Def looks like the Prince logo. 🤣
Love these putters. Once you commit you’ll never play another putter
with the pricing they should have some kind of a demo program like tennis rackets
Yes, that makes it very difficult. You can try them out at PGA Tour superstore though that’s the best option right now I think.
What's face balance? Toe hang, up ,or toe down or face up?
None of those. LAB putters are lie angle balanced, which means the face of the putter is designed to stay square to the target. Unless you manipulate the putter in your stroke it will stay square to your intended line. Check out their website and see what the "revealer" shows you, very interesting!
Any PGA tour pros using one?
Noticeable improvement to the video production.
Thanks Mark. Yes Adam Scott, Lucas Glover, Will Zalatoris and a few others.
@@LetsPlayThruthey're all using Mezz variants. The DF3 is brand new.
Did it feel a little plastic or toy like off the face that’s the only thing I was having a hard time getting used to when I tried it at the PGA store.
It has a more compressed feel than most putters. But it very much felt like a solid tool rather than a toy to me.
Edit: went back and watched again. Ball position looks maybe forward enough? Its really hard to tell from looking from the side in a video. Hope no offense taken, just trying to help! Theyre weird putters and the set up changes a little bit but boy do they work!
Appreciate the suggestion. I do play it slightly forward from center, but I’ll experiment with moving it up even further.
DId you select the shaft or was that suggested by LAB Golf after they saw your video? Do you ave any thoughts on the TPT shaft (other than it is expensive)? Great video. Pretty sure I am ordering a DF3 very soon.
It was their suggestion based on the video.
I want one so bad 😂
Curious about how tall you are?
I have an orange one in my online cart half built.. i need them to make a flat/ plum purple and im 100% in😂
Which LAB putter is the most forgiving/accurate?
I don’t know the answer to that question, I think they all have the same “no torque” technology, so it really just comes down to what works best for you and your eye.
I noticed that you had lined up a few putts using a marking on the ball at the beginning of the review, but it wasn’t clear if you getting the ball to roll end over end. Was it easy to get the ball rolling end over end with the LAB? Usually it takes me a few practice sessions to get the ball rolling well with a new putter. I play the Srixon z star divide, so I can get visual feedback on how the ball is rolling.
When did you switch to Legato balls
I started testing them about 3 months ago
A high-MOI putter is "most insane"? Fitted with weights? Try the Happy Putter. I'm disappointed it's not a stand-up putter. I play the Bloodline, and I will never use a putter that doesn't stand up again. It seems like a fine club, but how many golfers will actually go through a fitting? We are an off-the-shelf society.
Price? $559. Does that include fitting? Are fittings done by people trained to do them with this putter?
Virtual fitting literally takes 5 minutes in your home or office.
2:09 😂
Of course, right?? 😂
My 15 year old brain couldn't not giggle 😜
That thing is gaudy and hideous. Looks like a concept club. I can see my buddies razing me about it, especially if I miss any putt with it. Haha! I'll wait for the next gen when they fix the look. Thanks for the reviews you do.
Take a look at the Link 1 by LAB. It has a more “traditional” shape. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” This is probably the same thing players said when they first saw the Ping Anser, now nobody gives it a second look!
@@HalfSetJeff thanks, I see. Much nicer. For some reason, the Df3 just looks like an octopus🐙 without legs.
Not a gimmic, Phil, Scott, Talatoris are using them already-i thought it was but obviously tour pros don't depent on free clubs right? Or on some money (I am sure new company can't offer 2millions to a player to ise its putter-ando also players won't take that "little" money to use it. Scott used newport2 20+ years and Phil his Odyysey for 20+
Id almost want one just because the headcover is magnet and nice unlike the scottie’s ugly and velcro 😂
It's NOT the putter, it's the Putter. If you don't believe me, look at the putter Tiger and Jack used.
Right, but when you’re not a great putter, the putter technology helps.
I just can’t do it with that head shape. Wish I could be it’s a no go
They do have a model that is a bit more conservative. Kind of like in Anser style.
Those are great putters, but pretty expensive $$$
Yes they are!
I seriously don't think i could get past how that looks...
I was just as apprehensive
Why don’t the tour pro’s use them if they are that good ?
Plenty of tour pros using them right now.
@@LetsPlayThru None of the big names.
Adam Scott, Ben An, Will Zalatoris, Lucas Glover, probably more that I don't know about.

Definitely way to expensive
No way. Now a day all putters more expensive than this.
Do they offer 1yr 0% financing
i can't help but feel, who needs all this in a putter? you could learn to putt with piece of lumber on a stick if you practiced enough. and they're hideous. i enjoy nice things too. i'm playing a piretti savona and putt well with it.
