James your new LAB putter is gorgeous and you were putting like a champ with it. Never seen you more excited about a new putter. Gotta put it in the bag immediately....and keep it there. Great video and God Bless you brother.
James, I literally have every LAB Putter they make! I even have the DF.3 in a broomstick. I just went back to my DF.3 standard and it’s absolutely the best putter I’ve ever owned. Lowered my putts per round by nearly eliminating 3-putts. I went from 5-6 3 putts per round to averaging only 1 per round. 39 putts per round to 32!! 15 Playing Index to 8.5 playing index! Cray Results!!! Thank you LAB!
I've had my DF3 putter aka "my branding iron" for about 6 months and I can honestly say my putting has improved significantly. My pace control and consistency has improved and I find im able to hit where im wanting to aim. Whether it's psychological as much as it's product mechanics, who knows. But I love it and it's improved my golf and lowered my hcap
Same! I love my df3! I told myself I would never spend that kind of money on a putter, but honestly, its night and day over my old reliable 2 ball. I tried the mezz and I didn't like it at all. I didn't feel like I could keep the head lined up as easily through impact and would miss close putts too often.
I changed to a LAB a few months ago, I didn’t think I would but after having a fitting at Scottsdale (which I would recommend to anyone) i went in as a player who had used a 33” mallet for as long as I can remember, howeverI walked out with a 36” counterbalanced DF03… putting from 10ft has become almost stress free.. they will not be for everyone and the expense is ridiculous but players will spend £600-700 on a driver which they will use probs 6-10 times a round so spending the same on a putter which will be used around 32ish times a round shouldn’t be an issue.. 💥💥💥
I was remotely custom fit last summer for a DF3. 72 lie angle. Went with heavier head, counterbalanced options. 36 inches, 17 inch LAB SS 3.0 grip. NN head alignment marking. Black head with black ACCRA shaft. At 5’-6” I choke down 1-2 inches to get the full effect of the counter balanced feeling. Putter is amazing. Best putter I’ve ever had and I’ve been golfing nearly 35 years. The key is to get the correct lie angle, otherwise you’re throwing your money away
I've been gaming the Mezz 1 Max now for around 18 months and it's night and day with any other putter I've owned. Like you say James I'm amazed that I haven't see more players on tour using L.A.B putters.
Actually they do, but on the LIV tour. I guess it is because the are not necessarily bonded to one supplier. Last year I saw the results of one LIV Tournament and 7 of the top 10 finishers played a L.A.B. putter. Personally I play the 2.1 since a few years now. Putting has never been an issue for me and since ages I have between 28.3 and 29 putts on average in the past 400 rounds. In any case the putter works very well, but I may switch to the new and smaller OZ, either with insert or without. That’s what I need to find out.
When I saw some of the “red” data on your PC e.g. when you turned the face too much, I think I know where this is coming from. “Newcomers” on LAB putters often hold the putter too tied or even try to almost stear the head, as many are used to from their current putters. You will see much putting results if you let the LAB putter do his job, without manipulation of the head. Read the putt, align, light grip and let go. You will see what I mean after some practice. Trust the putter that the face will square up, it will, do not manipulate the face with your hands!
Cool to see you review and enjoy it. Headquarters are at my home course so it’s been awesome seeing these on tour more and so many people come get fitted from all over :)
I been watching your friends channel he’s been coming out with tons of lab content and I was like he’s about to destroy James with his lab next time they play on channel. Now you might be in the clear on a win with that mezz 😂😂😂
Glad you made the leap James. I had an in-person fitting for a DF2 a couple of years ago, and it’s transformed my putting. I’ve found that I can pretty much 2 putt from anywhere on the green which has taken the pressure off my short game. I now regularly go round in 29 putts.
Thanks for the review. Would love to see you test it against other putters using Quintic. Your face angle at impact was more than 1 degree open or closed. According to Quintic - face angle at impact needs to be less than 1 degree open or closed if not putt will miss. At 15 feet its .5 degrees. Also have not seen a LAB fitting showing whether anyone can aim/align the putter. Would be important to know if you can aim the LAB putter correctly. 97: percent of golfers have an aim bias and putter shapes, colors and lines all affect our aim. Looking forward to you posting some more putter videos - its fascinating stuff. Cheers!
I got fitted in person and I've had my Mezz 1 MAX for about an year and a half. I absolutely love it, although I took it out of the bag for a while because the pace control was really "off" compared to other putters I have and felt I need to give it more of a "hit" on longer putts. I think we saw that with the first putt in the video which was short and then in the data in the video on the longer putts the face data wasn't as close to 0 and the numbers were out. This could be you also feeling the need to give it more of a "hit" - Over the winter I've put the Mezz 1 back in the bag to dial in pace control as I believe in the technology in the putter and that it can make putting/golf easier/more enjoyable etc. Side note - given the 0 toque technology, I'm so surprised Bryson hasn't put one of these in the bag. I thought he'd be all over this since he's all about replicating the same swing/stroke as much as possible.
I think Bryson not playing it is purely because he part owns LA GOLF and they have there own carbon face putter with the Sik descending loft tech they purchased, although he is still using the steel Sik version so clearly can’t get on with carbon face putter 🤷♂️
@wizzite Love my Mezz1 Max too, same grip and shaft as Robbo. playing it for the same time. What did you game before the LAB? My experience was also with troublesome lag putts at the start, simply because the feel off the face was even softer than what I had gotten used to (used to play huge MOI mallets with softish inserts - think Cleveland smart square, (nicknamed solar panel by my mates), Spider DLL (Starship Enterprise) and Spider Monza Balero (Klingon fighter) .
Not a good golfer by any means - but my 2nd ever round with my DF3 on Saturday saw me putt 25 times across 18 holes. First time I’ve ever stood behind a putt from any distance and thought “I got this” and actually see it sink. Couldn’t believe it! 😂
I thought they were goofy looking the first time I saw a RUclips video on them but now I really like the way they look. I want to get one but being a new golfer it doesn’t really make much sense for me to get one
I was getting clubs regripped at golf galaxy and picked up the DF3. I have not felt a softer putter that made me more confident. I ordered it last week.
I went for the Link 1.0 & they really are a game changer, it’s so easy to hit on the intended line with a pure strike & 4-6 ft putts are so much easier, definitely a massive leap in putter technology, as big as Ping bringing out the heal toe balance putter 50-60 years ago.
Guys if you like this try the evnroll z1. Its so much nice feel and role than df3 and uses torque technology but allows more touch and feel. Seriously, amazing.
I'm super interested in a LAB putter, I finally did the online fitting video, waiting to hear back on what they recommend. The new OZ.1 looks really nice
It only makes sense that removing any tendency for the putter head to torque one way or another can't hurt your putting. Very interesting design and the question of why more Tour players aren't using them likely answered by their bank accounts more than the club performance. A really good player probably won't see a lot of improvement due to the technology because they're very good at controlling the normal putter torque and the vast majority of missed putts are due to misreads rather than striking the ball differently than they intended. Good video James!
I love my df 2.1. Picked it used and it works. Eventually will do the fitting. I love how it makes putting easier by removing one of the 3 main variables. Not sure I will ever use a different brand. I really want to try the oz1 with the insert just too expensive at the moment.
I got a mezz right at the end of the Midwest season so my only true data has been indoor golf league, before the mezz I had a Cleveland elevado so similar head shape, I know one things for certain that my distance control and consistency has improved so much it’s almost unbelievable, I really struggled with speed control with my Cleveland especially anything farther than 20’ and so far, I’ve kept all of my first puts within 5’ of the hole, essentially creating more tap in pars than I’ve ever had before
It's the centershaft... centershaft has been a huge Upgrade to my putting... having a mallet and a double wide blade, cobra and Cleveland. Both putters are rallye great
I love my double wide Odyssey versa putter and I am very solid with hitting my line , I could work on speed but it’s green to green and the speeds change so much each course so nothing crazy. I tried a lab at a golf galaxy and it was worst putter I tested just because it rolled so weird for me , my guess is the fitting for these is super important per person and it’s not a putter you want to get used or off a rack or you will be disappointed.
Hi James I have the Link 1 blade type putter, I got fitted at Scottsdale Golf in Warrington, mid May last year. I absolutely love it and it’s made my putting so much better. I can’t understand why you didn’t go to Scottsdale golf and get a in person fitting done there it’s only 40 mins down the M62 for you and you are over there it seems all the time at Golf Clubs 4 Cash. I noticed that Chris said you were putting toe up when you had it on the capto system.
James, I think you're being hard on yourself. Based on what I've seen, you're a pretty good putter. And thanks for this review. I've been thinking about replacing my putter (that I've been using for 20 years) with a LAB. I think a new putter is the only club I can justify speeding $500 on.
I've had a totally stock df2.1 for over 2 years now and cannot go back to a regular putter. I'm a high handicap, older golfer and thus thing makes 3 putts a thing of the past.
I’m surprised you went with the mez 1 max over the new oz with the stainless steel insert. I’ve actually moved away from lab because on slow greens I was coming up either short or long on putts. Was so frustrating. Since moved to the Callaway Ai One (broomstick) lag putting has been great. With the new stainless steel insert I may try another lab if they eventually offer it in the broomstick model.
My mate got fitted for a DFS3 and swears by it so I picked up a second hand Link 1 for £240, havent been on the course yet but visuaully it feels unreal
Nice review. Could you say more about the remote fitting by video. My concern is that you might not get the perfect fitting. Say you only have 2 putters. One is too long one is only 0.5 inch too short , both have different lie angles - how do they work out your fitting? You chose one that feels best but neither is perfect. So - an experiment you could do is to retry the remote fitting with a much different spec putter to the original you sent via video and see if they calculate the exact same spec?
Have had the DF3 for a year, has made me a better putter, but still far from great. Had a Scotty in the past with an aluminum face, hated it, bought a stainless one. Still don't care much for the aluminum in the L.A.B., but live with it, well because of the tech, can hardly wait for a stainless insert in the DF3, must have.
Love the putter...my only critique would be getting it in green because it blends in with the grass. I would think more contrast between the putter color and the green grass would be helpful for alignment.
It’s very much a personal thing but having tried two different LAB putters I found (for me) the new Odyssey Square to Square worked better. And before a get a hoard of keyboard warriors saying I’m a LAB hater, I’m not, I think they are brilliant but for me the fang (No 7) style Square to Square was more consistent especially in pace control. Another deciding factor was cost.
i played with a df3 and a mess, and they may have been the worst putters i’ve ever used. i understand the appeal, but hate the stupid, they fix everything gimmick. my first round i had 38 putts, (and shot 75 for context.) went back to my old blade the next day and dropped 26 putts
No question in my mind that I’d play one of these models if only I could afford it. Currently my NZD is trading at .56 on the USD so these are out of reach right now.
Purely on the indoor numbers yes he should go another degree flat, but who knows how consistent his setup is. One of the challenges with LAB is many golfers have aim bias due to stroke defects. For example, a guy on GolfWRX complained he "pulled everything" with his new LAB. Further research revealed he was always pushing putts with his old putter so his aim perception was biased left. The LAB was coming out dead straight. So some people will need some time to unlearn bad habits. I've used a Mezz Max for over two years now but when I first got it, it took me about three rounds to get used to it. Light grip pressure is key.
Putting is confidence & feel nothing else I don't agree that lab would make a difference Your takeaway is exactly the same as with the Scotty watch your videos , not been negative you are actually pretty decent putter anyway
Im thinking about selling my ping Anser 2 on ebay. Getting some money back for it and using that money for a LAB putter. Even tho wont get much for it the black metallic finish on the bottom has chipped off. Cause from to much rattling in my golf bag.
How tall are you james? Looks like you could do with maybe getting over the top of the ball a bit more? 34 inch might have been better help you get that toe down?
Maybe its not about holing everything but making your putts better so you do have a chance 🤷🤷 and stopping the 3 putts ...i think stats over a season might be veey similar who knows
Great putter but be careful with dragging balls back with it or having anything hit those edges, they chip up easily on all the back sharp edges , I moved to the DF3 because I hate marks on my putters especially when they cost what these do.
I’ve seen a lot of issues with them looking quite tatty quite quickly if you play a lot. My LAB link is pristine after a seasons use bar the grip which does “shine” a bit but replacement is in hand
@ I’m a caddie. I see you guys everyday. It don’t matter what you putt with. You might as well have come back with your mama. Keep drinking the koolaid though.
Your comment is totally misguided. Anyone with any knowledge knows that there is TWO necessary components to making putts. The first one is being able to read the break of the putt correctly (your point), but the second non-negotiable is being able to start your putt on your intended start line. That is where a LAB putter is a game changer. Once you take your start line out of the equation because you are doing that properly, then you can begin to improve your green reading abilities. Without perfecting one of the two necessary components then you are always left wondering which one is missing.
I have a DF3 but it is awfully fishy yet genius marketing by LAB to have almost every RUclips personality get a free putter and fitting to promote their brand.
Think the manufacturers send him them for publicity and he sends them back after? If he's not paying personally I think he should give the items away free to subscribers
Would you spend £570 on a brand new driver 🤷... A lot would use it 12-14 times ...putter anywhere from 30-40 times but golfers won't spend that much on a putter ...odd bunch us golfers 😂
Do you think that a golfer who only get to play 4 -5 times a month as a mid handicapper could be justified in buying a LAB putter ? Nice watch comparison, why not offer a lesson to the guy you got it from lol
I HAVE HAD A STARSHIP DF3 FOR OVER THREE YEARS ITS GREAT BUT ONLY BRING IT OUT NOW AND AGAIN AS IT LOOKS CREP. I TEND TYO BE A GOOD PUTTER ANYWAY AND PREFER A NICE LOOK, BUT I AM STUPID. CAPLOCKS FOR THAT REASON, NOT A TRUMPISM
James your new LAB putter is gorgeous and you were putting like a champ with it. Never seen you more excited about a new putter. Gotta put it in the bag immediately....and keep it there. Great video and God Bless you brother.

Ditto
Same here, I went from 3-5 3 putt holes per 9 holes of golf to 1 or 2. It really has worked wonders!!!
Same! I love my df3! I told myself I would never spend that kind of money on a putter, but honestly, its night and day over my old reliable 2 ball. I tried the mezz and I didn't like it at all. I didn't feel like I could keep the head lined up as easily through impact and would miss close putts too often.
SAME
I took loads of friendly and not so friendly “bants” a year ago and I’ll guarantee some of those guys will go LAB eventually
Looking to upgrade my Scotty and get a Mezz this year! Glad you’ve reviewed it!
Had my 2.1 for several years now. Best putters ever. Can’t wait to get a new one soon.

I don’t love the look of the cyber putter, but the DF 3 and the new Adam Scott collab do fit my eye.
Not a good golfer by any means - but my 2nd ever round with my DF3 on Saturday saw me putt 25 times across 18 holes.
First time I’ve ever stood behind a putt from any distance and thought “I got this” and actually see it sink. Couldn’t believe it! 😂
Mine's getting delivered tomorrow, Black Mezz1, white shaft, black grip 👍👍👍
I thought they were goofy looking the first time I saw a RUclips video on them but now I really like the way they look. I want to get one but being a new golfer it doesn’t really make much sense for me to get one
@charlie1832 It's the most used club in the bag and you'll keep it for years if you like it.
@ I just won a Rossie that I’m going to see how I do with that when it gets warm out again
I was getting clubs regripped at golf galaxy and picked up the DF3. I have not felt a softer putter that made me more confident. I ordered it last week.

I'm super interested in a LAB putter, I finally did the online fitting video, waiting to hear back on what they recommend. The new OZ.1 looks really nice
Love the white shaft on this little beauty. And the green head matches your iron grips.
Love my new Ai square to square, putting for me was always my weakest part of the game. And this new putter has definitely helped
I love my df 2.1. Picked it used and it works. Eventually will do the fitting. I love how it makes putting easier by removing one of the 3 main variables. Not sure I will ever use a different brand. I really want to try the oz1 with the insert just too expensive at the moment.
I tried that LAB putter in-store and did not like it. If it works for others, great!
I got a mezz right at the end of the Midwest season so my only true data has been indoor golf league, before the mezz I had a Cleveland elevado so similar head shape, I know one things for certain that my distance control and consistency has improved so much it’s almost unbelievable, I really struggled with speed control with my Cleveland especially anything farther than 20’ and so far, I’ve kept all of my first puts within 5’ of the hole, essentially creating more tap in pars than I’ve ever had before
Just changed to a LAB Broomstick putter and its far and away better then any putter I’ve ever used.
It's the centershaft... centershaft has been a huge Upgrade to my putting... having a mallet and a double wide blade, cobra and Cleveland. Both putters are rallye great
Got to admit that is one pretty putter! I would definitely lean to that one over the space age piece of iron you see several guys using!
I do like the look of the DF3 and maybe one day I will be lucky enough to win one, great video James
Well done James 👏 😊
They roll the ball so well , different gravy as Chris would say
They look and work amazing 🤩
Those are nice putters. They don’t look very good but they roll the ball very well!
Would the capto device have any effect on the torque when put on the putter shaft
It does, yes. It’ll still have less torque than traditional putters
I ordered my new LAB OZ1 I putter on Dec 6th, hopefully someday it will show up?
Hi James I have the Link 1 blade type putter, I got fitted at Scottsdale Golf in Warrington, mid May last year. I absolutely love it and it’s made my putting so much better.
I can’t understand why you didn’t go to Scottsdale golf and get a in person fitting done there it’s only 40 mins down the M62 for you and you are over there it seems all the time at Golf Clubs 4 Cash.
I noticed that Chris said you were putting toe up when you had it on the capto system.
I have the same putter; fitted in person , pace on longer putts is its only downfall in my hands, ten feet and under I’m in more often than not
@ I had that problem at first but I just worked on distance control and 8 months on I am now very consistent
I will be getting fitted for an OZ 1 in the spring!
Love my DF3

Love that green!!!
I bought a Mezz 1 four months ago and I just can’t use another putter. The Mezz is just magical.
Lab putter are really getting popular on the tour. On RUclips lots are using them.
I'm kinda surprised you didn't go for the OZ
interesting to find out how easy you found the online fitting...
Can you review the void putters?
Nice review. Could you say more about the remote fitting by video. My concern is that you might not get the perfect fitting. Say you only have 2 putters. One is too long one is only 0.5 inch too short , both have different lie angles - how do they work out your fitting? You chose one that feels best but neither is perfect. So - an experiment you could do is to retry the remote fitting with a much different spec putter to the original you sent via video and see if they calculate the exact same spec?
The reason this is important is that they are quite pricey
I’ve had an Axis 1 for a while and found I had to move it slightly more central in my stance
I'm debating on getting fitted for a new OZ 1i or staying with my SiK
Hi James, Happy new year, did I miss the un-boxing of your Christmas box of clubs as chosen by your wife and Robby ,or has it not been posted yet.
Is it always freezing where you live? You always have at least 3-4 layers on.
Unfortunately yes lol
I was really hoping this would be the OZ1, good review of this model though.
Looks really nice/unique
I would love to see what you think of the new lab OZ putters.
Been looking at these for a while. How much was your putter James or was it a freebie?
That's a nice looking putter! How did you decide on the Mezz.1 vs the Mezz.1 Max?
Love the putter...my only critique would be getting it in green because it blends in with the grass. I would think more contrast between the putter color and the green grass would be helpful for alignment.
It’s very much a personal thing but having tried two different LAB putters I found (for me) the new Odyssey Square to Square worked better. And before a get a hoard of keyboard warriors saying I’m a LAB hater, I’m not, I think they are brilliant but for me the fang (No 7) style Square to Square was more consistent especially in pace control. Another deciding factor was cost.
Love my lab link 😍
So what hppens to your Scottie Cameron?????
It’s in my office with my other 146288 putters buddy lol. I have an issue
i played with a df3 and a mess, and they may have been the worst putters i’ve ever used. i understand the appeal, but hate the stupid, they fix everything gimmick. my first round i had 38 putts, (and shot 75 for context.) went back to my old blade the next day and dropped 26 putts
No question in my mind that I’d play one of these models if only I could afford it. Currently my NZD is trading at .56 on the USD so these are out of reach right now.
is the toe up fit an issue? i also got fit online and fear my fit isnt as perfect as it might have been, had i got fit in person.
@ brilliant response. thanks for sharing.
Putting is confidence & feel nothing else I don't agree that lab would make a difference
Your takeaway is exactly the same as with the Scotty watch your videos , not been negative you are actually pretty decent putter anyway
I honestly thought you would have picked the Oz. You could have been the wizard on the greens.
So now that you and Chris and your buddy Gary all have LAB putters are they going to be in your bag or not?
Chris has access to tour stats. Are guys using LAB putters better than average? Have they improved?
I’ve had it a week and it snowed the day after this video bud. Lol
Nice but you can’t scoop up gimmes like a Scotty , or dig the toe in hole then scoop it up
I presume that on top of the circa £450 you will have to add taxes and import duties for the UK?
I did have to pay tax yeah
LAB is the only company that balances each putter on the lie angle. The other brands stick a shaft in the center of the head and mass produce it.
Brilliant looking putter but golf is getting stupid expensive
How much James ?? 👍
Great putter but be careful with dragging balls back with it or having anything hit those edges, they chip up easily on all the back sharp edges , I moved to the DF3 because I hate marks on my putters especially when they cost what these do.
They were also wearing colour off putter edge where cover goes on & off, seen 2 at local club returned
I’ve seen a lot of issues with them looking quite tatty quite quickly if you play a lot.
My LAB link is pristine after a seasons use bar the grip which does “shine” a bit but replacement is in hand
I prefer the odyssey versions 😊
The press on the Odyssey shaft not going at an angle into the grip makes it look bent at address. Looks bad.
Subtle rolex flex
Potentially.
Essentially.
It doesn’t matter how much you spend on a putter if you can’t read greens.
Sounds like someone who can’t read greens or afford a lab.
@ I’m a caddie. I see you guys everyday. It don’t matter what you putt with. You might as well have come back with your mama. Keep drinking the koolaid though.
@ didn’t ask tubby.
@@ryguy8805😂😂
Cheaper than paying real Pros
If I buy a lab it will be Oz and a black shaft, never White 🤣⛳️
An £800 putter and they give you a Temu headcover 🤯
Have you told the wife which side of the bed the new putter is sleeping? 🙂
What do you do with all these clubs? LOL - You basically buy clubs everyday right?
Think the manufacturers send him them for publicity and he sends them back after? If he's not paying personally I think he should give the items away free to subscribers
Why!, because of the price.
I am surprised by the comment that it looks the most like a normal putter when the Link looks like a Scotty which is one of his favorites.
They are nice, but way to expensive!!!!!!
Would you spend £570 on a brand new driver 🤷... A lot would use it 12-14 times ...putter anywhere from 30-40 times but golfers won't spend that much on a putter ...odd bunch us golfers 😂
I think you're a good putter anyway but a marginal improvement will make you even better 😊
Do you think that a golfer who only get to play 4 -5 times a month as a mid handicapper could be justified in buying a LAB putter ? Nice watch comparison, why not offer a lesson to the guy you got it from lol
Fitted , pretty gimmicky you'll miss as much & hole as well with anything if you like it trust it
Lol. "Game changer".
DF3 has only been out a year or so maybe you should look again.
@ my stupidity. The big starship thing. Sorry to annoy you xxx
