Lots of doubting thomas’s re LAB, but have they tried one? I went for a fitting, consider myself a reasonable putter, but was interested to see the technology. I was asked to hit 30 putts with my Spyder, interestingly i was very consistent, i left the face open .4 every time, but every other measure was perfect, so the fitter was taken aback. He asked why the fitting? He then measured my arms, looked at my address from the readings, set me up in a Mezz1 and a DF3, in my spec, i couldnt putt with the DF3, but the Mezz was incredible, i green lined every field, long putts short putts all the same, you dont have to hit the ball, just trust the club. Is it expensive? all relative to income and circumstances, people pay £600 for a driver to hit 12-14 times a round, yet you putt 20-35 times a round. My putter was less than a days wages, so i can afford it, and i got £175 for my spyder, so nett cost was minimal. Haters can hate, i will have some fun.
If I really liked the looks of the lab putter I would definitely buy the fake and save a lot of money but I don't like the looks of either one of them at all. I would try and find a good used putter that appeals to the eye like the putter Chris uses in alot of the next 100 videos. That's a nice putter.
Beautiful looking putter with the green head and white shaft. I’ve always been a Bettinardi fan, I’m hoping someone will put their new Antidote putter in the lab revealer to compare results.
Love the new camera! I tried a lab putter when I was at Golf Galaxy a couple of weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. That said, it's just way too expensive. I got an OG Odyssey Mallet style putter for 100 off and only paid $219.
It is Jan 15 here in Ontario and trust me it is FREEZING Hopefully you are in Florida and much much warmer. I currently have an armlock SIK putter. I agree with a number of the responses however, I have been to a few golf stores where they have the LAB putters and yes the player is important, but you get a degree of confidence with both the Mezz and the new DF3. I would encourage any and all of your subscribers to find a golf store that has these, and while they wont (likely) fit the subscriber, the subscriber, if they are "open" will be impressed.
I’ve just got a mezz 1, only been on the practice green and have to say it’s amazing. From around 8ft try looking at the hole, feels like you can’t miss.
Well, I finished the video, and while I was intrigued with the NASA-level statistics panel, I'm not really sure what it's telling me. The "Energy" measure was significantly different (1.7 vs 9.6), but what does that really mean in practical terms? I think most people would acknowledge that good putting is more a factor of the golfer, and less a factor of the putter. And that's not to say that any old putter will do, but the inference in this video is that the Lab putter is superior to the fake...just don't see the support for that. And that said, I greatly appreciate the comparison and review--doing that is what's important as you're presenting your impressions, your testing, and your experience, all of which is useful to someone interested in Lab putters (or similar style putters from others..."fakes").
As you talk with every other club, looks inspire confidence... when you dont like the look of anything a brand produces, does it matter the tech and consistency if you dont like how it looks stood over the ball? Thats my biggest complaint with the lab putters... which is ironic, since the 2 putters that i have best played arent exactly "pretty", but they suit my eye far better than any of the labs i have seen... those 2 are the odessey 3 ball srt, which was in the bag til about 2 months ago, and now the odessey o works black 2mcs... they both just flat out work for me...and i personally like the look of them, so they inspire confidence in my putting game...😂
James I saw a video of the upcoming COBRA mini driver!! I am definitely buying a mini driver before next season so I need you to test ALL of them thank you
Ok, admittedly I'm only at minute 7-1/2 of 16 minutes, but your friend missed 3 putts with the fake, and missed 3 putts with the LAB... Clearly to make putts, the person, not the putter is in charge of whether or not that happens. And as I commented in your last video (without response), I still don't see how the torque (or lack of torque with the Lab) putter is that big an issue--you're holding the putter with your hands and surely it doesn't have enough torquing/twisting force to change your grip... Anyway, I'll keep watching the video and see if you address this issue...
You're onto a couple points as to why I'm skeptical. LAB putters offer no resistance so there's no way to feel what the club face is doing. Also, the grip pressure required to pick up a putter off the ground is enough to override the force of the putter head rotating (but you can still sense it). In the end, if you like the visual better or they fit your setup better then get one. Don't buy for some magical performance benefit due to the tech.
I’ve changed putters 50 times and not one made a difference until I started practicing putting 1 hour each day…only that lowered my strokes on the greens
New cam is great. Putter, I like the labs but too pricey. I have an Odyssey O Works with 35.5shaft with 13.5 super stroke with 30g counter bal. Not changing anytime soon. But I do like lab and e even roll. BTW, bought an elev e n 6 hybrid to try...waiting for it..woohoo
I own a custom DF3, (same green as your Mezz) paid $525USD after rebate code, and I don’t think that it was overpriced at all. First, I’m American, and this club is made in America. I don’t exactly know the origin of the components, but I know I sent a video to an American person, had an email conversation with them, and a putter was made to my exact specifications, and was assembled by American workers. I think paying $600+USD for a driver with a shaft and grip that were mass produced in China is a rip off, not a putter designed and manufactured less than an hour away from where my best friend from high school lives. $400 for an Odyssey putter off the rack at Golf Galaxy is a rip off. Second, my putter has significantly improved my putting. I decided to make the investment after having a 9 hole round where I 3 putted 5 holes. Since getting the DF3 I’ve not had more than two 3 putts in a 9 hole round, and those all come down to poor distance control, the putter itself helps me keep my intended line dramatically. If this putter ever gets replaced it’ll probably be with another LAB putter, even if by that point they want $700 for it.
The LAB probably ‘feels’ better (in the hands), but there doesn’t seem to be much difference in end results. I guess balls are in contact with putter faces longer than drivers or irons, but it’s kind of unlikely that someone could correct their way out of a bad stroke in such a short period of time. Tried a LAB 3 at Dicks. Can’t say it didn’t feel cool, but I would have made or missed the same putts with my first gen Odyssey.
Great review and comparison as always. Are there any putting stats from PGA or DP tours for PROs who have changed from a regular putter to a LAB putter? The truth is out there - to quote the X-Files!
Should have added that I wouldn’t buy a “fake” but really want to understand if changing from a traditional putter to a LAB putter really saves putts. I’ve watched a load of videos and picking up some idea that LAB is great for short putts but maybe not so good on longer putts.
I tried mezz Putter and thought it was a real solid great feeling performer. But did not actually outperform my current gamer which is the Cobra 3D print Supernova 2024 model. If I was in the market for a new one yeah I would get mezz I really like the look The feel and performance, but like I said it didn't perform my current Cobra putter it was literally on par with it
Problem is we all have that great honeymoon period with a new putter but it always ends. You can buy great secondhand putters for a quarter of a price of new putters nowadays.
I've said this over and over. It's not so much the putter, it's the hours and hours of practice that will make you good and consistent on the greens. I still use a 38 year old Titleist Dead Center putter and I regularly beat all my friends on the green who have spent thousands on new putters over the years. If you put in the time you could putt well with a rock on a stick. Save your money and put in the practice hours.
Agree. I use a Yes! Tracy putter I got fitted for in 2008. I too am a more accurate putter than my fellow golfers I play with. They all have late model Scotty’s and Pings.
Will a LAB putter turn a bad putter into a half decent putter? I’m averaging two three putts per round, so if I can save between 2-4 strikes per round I would feel good
I wouldn’t count on it. If you can get a 30 day return policy any putter is worth a try. I’ve tested a ton of putters. They feel different but perform very similar including old school blades like the 8802.
As per your purchase, if you have any question regarding customer service, feel free to share me your PO number, we will investigate further and try our best to make things right
Marketing is much more important for sales than technology. Ninety percent of putting is in your head which makes marketing even more effective. My brother is a much better golfer than me, he played off 3 for a very long time, his first set of clubs had die cast heads and after a few games they all looked like two irons because the hozzles all bent. He ditched the clubs but kept the centre shot diecast putter because he putted well with it. He had that putter for a few years and got his handicap down to about five then decided he wanted a real putter and bought a Ping Answer. He never putted the Ping as well as the $2 putter no matter how much he practiced.
I’ve always had the opinion that out of all the clubs in your bag, the putter is the one that you don’t need to really splurge on. Because if you can’t read a green, it doesn’t matter if your putter is a $5 one from Goodwill or $1000 custom ping putter, you aren’t going to make the putt.
I took my 20year old Rosa putter installed a super stroke. Changed my stroke to shoulder turns and not arms.To me it’s night and day better. Sinking putts from 15’ now and I wasn’t before. And also a money thing for me. Use what you got and make your self better
May be a stupid question. Are you saying that in order to get the best out of the LAB putter you need to be fitted for it. If you are does that then make all second hand LAB putters more or less worthless?
Having been fitted for a LAB putter, you are given a spec sheet, once you have this, you could match it against buying a used one. But ultimately as with other clubs, they are fitted to you. Drivers can have loft, Lie and hotmetal adjustments that are never detailed on Used spec. My irons have had all the lofts changed for gapping, also i am 2 degrees flat, so if i sell my irons the spec would need to be detailed, most wouldn’t bother telling the buyer, which is why you should have everything checked if you buy used.
It's just another putter, pay all that money for the jewellery and customization and still miss because it is a putter only. I repeat, you'll still miss with it. The camera work left me nauseated, was Bobby recovering from Barbados? How was the bottle of "Mount Gay" rum James? I howled when you kept installing the clip of Bobby showing it off to you. LMAO
To ensure our customers shop at Temu with peace of mind, our Buyer Protection Program guarantees a full refund for items that are not as described or arrive damaged, within 90 days of purchase. We value all feedback and would love to make things right! Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
IMHO the word "scam" could also be applied to the Lab Putter given the price. It all comes down to the user, and if the knockoff version works great then all the negative comments about it just don't matter. BTW - if the Temu version feels lighter, just add a bit of lead tape to the clubhead and your problem is solved.
Not everyone can afford getting fitted for clubs and definitely buying a lab. I got back into golf after a 18 yr hiatus and bought everything used. Being a dad and having a family a four, spending $650 CDN on a putter is extremely hard to justify. These putters are for casual golfers. Serious golfers wont buy fakes, and for a weekend player why not?
I'm sorry but a bad workman always blames his tools. Whether it's drivers woods hybrids or wedges it's not the club that puts you into OB hazards or deep in the forest. My friend once purchased a set of Tiger Sharks for an eyewatering price. I told him he should have paid £25 (at the time) for a Lyle and Scott jumper at least it would keep him warm. £500 will buy me 15 or so days golf. I know which I'd prefer.
The clubs and especially the shafts are a huge contributing factor to hitting balls ob etc etc wrong shafts loft and lie angles and even the compound of the heads would destroy a competent golfer. So would I pay more and have a few less golf days and play properly or to the best of my ability…..yes 100%
I’ve always considered the putter to be the pretty club in the bag, so why would anyone buy an ugly duck when there are so many swans around for a fraction of the price😊
If you are going to compare them and the price is that much difference then the performance on the greens should be night and day and from what I’m watching it isn’t any different regarding made putts
Is it a fake as it's a slightly different shape, interesting. Surely there must be many putters that look similar to other putters yet made by different manufacturers, are they fakes? Sorry controversial I know 🙂
LAB’s no spin tool hook tool. How does NOT holding the putter help you put straighter? 😂😂 LAB putters may be well balance- but in any decent golfer’s hands - even a broom head will be able to make a ball go straight?
The lab putter is a massive gimmick yes face stays square but you can do that with your hands your lab will only stay square if your hands keep it that way
I think you shouldn’t buy either of them. Neither of both is fitted to you. I would never buy a Putter for that kind of money, that I have not thoroughly tested. And a putter that is built specked to you I can guarantee that you cannot return.
I doubt the temu is great, but there is zero chance if it was that he would say it.... Not a chance in hell would he say yes this is great u don't need to drop 500 on a putter
No putter will fix a bad read. Work on yourself and leave these overpriced things on the shelf. If they made that big of a difference, every tour player would have one. Congrats to the nerd with a "revealer" for making life changing money on his gimmick.
Lab won’t pay tour players to use there product, you think Rory would be using Taylormade putter if wasn’t sponsored by them? As for the read. You are correct a bad read is bad read but you need to have a putter that gets your ball started online everytime when you get the line right.
@@samuelknott5586 not true. Plenty of tour players use putters from companies they aren't sponsored by, and the Spyder has been in the bag of many winners for a long time.
@@samuelknott5586putters are typically not part of most endorsement deals for typical pros because they are such personal clubs. Every manufacturer could make lie angle balanced putters. Zach Johnson used a See More for years when he was with Titelist.
So after watching this video the main difference between the 2 putters is £300 so do you want to pay over the odds for the same putter. Once you have used the putter and understand how it plays there should be no difference. Hopefully Temu will start showing these big brands to start looking at there prices for the average/ weekend golfer.
You're so wrong here. In this instance L.A.B did all the work, spent all the R&D money, paid engineers, and did marketing to make this putter successful. That costs money. Temu did NOTHING but steal someone's hard work and prepare a cheap knock-off. How would you like it if you spent years creating a product, priced it based on the blood, sweat, tears, and investment that went into it, and then some joker 3-D printed your design and sold them out from under you?
I had a lab and spider. If I am being honest, you need fast greens and less than 30 feet for the LAB. Go hit 10 putts from 50 feet on a green rolling an 8 on a LAB. Can’t control the distance. It will be on line and 5 feet short every time or 5 feet by.
@@-Thunderhow many greens per round are you hitting into from 200? if its enough to be the main factor on the putter you buy, maybe move up a tee, or club up?
@@Cr1mson_Ghost Seems like every round I have at least one 40+ foot putt. Move up a tee or club up? I'm a 5 handicap. Are you like Plus 5 or something?
Well, anyone who buys anything off of Temu is going to be ripped off. But Temu do not state it's a LAB putter, so it can't be a scam. Obviously it's a dead ringer but, honestly, if you think you're getting anything half decent free from Temu then you're an idiot.
I absolutely despise the fact that Chinese copies are allowed 😖I don’t care if a product is made there and it’s a Chinese brand and their own design etc no issues but for someone to spend time effort and money to create a product that someone can just rip off really grinds my gears it’s just terrible and they are so blatant and just sticking two fingers up to the rest of the world who would come down so hard if it was not china doing it but someone in their country or a smaller country that they could sanction fine or just tax to-make it not worth while but they just dare not do it to Chinese firms they need banning 🙄😟rant over lol
Most clubs are made in china, they’re good at making equipment that functions well for the average golfer. Of course if your golf is so good that you can feel the difference then pay through the nose if you wish, but your disgust smells more of snobbery than anything else.
Ummm NO James, Lab putters are ABSOLUTELY the Ugliest ever made. I don’t care how well they putt. I could NEVER stand over that ABOMINATION. Now I did just go to my local Club Champion. Tried the Vice VGP02. Hit every putt I attempted and talk about an amazing work of ART. I should be receiving it in 3 weeks. Unfortunately I’m shelving my Scotty Cameron Newport.

James I thought at 1 time you had a custom Vegas putter that was shaped like the 7 and Lab putter you have. What happened to that putter?
Chris is the best .. got to say not a bad looking putter..compared to Scotty I would take a scotty

I'd never pay the kind of money for a lab or an 700 dollar driver either.
It’s not snobbery as I say loads of things made there it’s just stealing ideas and others ideas that stinks
James.. ironic that you’re running Temu ads on your site 😮
I think that goes to show there is something going on here Temu is moving in the right direction.
And let's face it, you're not going to say buy the temu are you.
I’ve always considered the putter to be the pretty club in the bag, so why would anyone buy an ugly duck when there are so many swans around for a fraction of the price😊
No I won’t ever buy one James, as it costs as much as my Wilson iron set!
I would say just don't buy rip offs - especially from the Chinese that don't respect the concept of intellectual property.
definitley the temu because who the hell has £460 for a sodding putter!
Sorry controversial I know 🙂
Yes they are expensive but no more expensive than a new driver and you use your putter on almost 50% of the time. Quickest way to drop strokes.
he bought it from temu. shouldn't that tell people its fake
Stop buying branded counterfeits ffs.
Temu putter looks and puts better. Not sure of the downside.
It’s the Putter not the putter. Fitters believe in their marketing, so you can’t say anything negative.
Hit me up, I’ll come play golf with ya while your here in Orlando!!
I would buy a fake impress my golfing buddies
Time for a gimble Bobby
LAB’s no spin tool hook tool.
How does NOT holding the putter help you put straighter? 😂😂
LAB putters may be well balance- but in any decent golfer’s hands - even a broom head will be able to make a ball go straight?
Lighting is reflecting off your faces and why isn’t it in 4k?
I got one and I absolutely love it. Well worth the 120 bucks I paid
The lab putter is a massive gimmick yes face stays square but you can do that with your hands your lab will only stay square if your hands keep it that way
The ONLY guaranteed improvement on your putting skill is TIME SPENT ON THE PUTTING GREEN.
Golf fitting? What do you know, you have custom loft lie and shaft. 😂
Why not? Plenty of reviewers have tried the temu fake p790’s and said they are as good as the real thing
"Lock 'n roll" is the way to go. Chopped 4 putts per round (34 to 30) off my putting stats last year (over 100 games). Pricey but worth it.
No putter will fix a bad read. Work on yourself and leave these overpriced things on the shelf. If they made that big of a difference, every tour player would have one. Congrats to the nerd with a "revealer" for making life changing money on his gimmick.
You must be a right angry man. Bet you lose your pink castle tee on course and hope someone hands it in. Have a coffee and try not being so angry
Lab won’t pay tour players to use there product, you think Rory would be using Taylormade putter if wasn’t sponsored by them? As for the read. You are correct a bad read is bad read but you need to have a putter that gets your ball started online everytime when you get the line right.
Like my Old man always said: if you read well you should be able to putt it in with a umbrella
There is no difference in results really anyway
You guys always look miserably cold.
Definite upgrade on the camera 😊. Putter too expensive 😮
I think those putters are ugly as hell and like all golf equipment overpriced.
Always buy from a pga pro or golf shop 😮Well done James and Chris
Game improvement putters lol what a joke, ugly gimmick
I had a lab and spider. If I am being honest, you need fast greens and less than 30 feet for the LAB. Go hit 10 putts from 50 feet on a green rolling an 8 on a LAB. Can’t control the distance. It will be on line and 5 feet short every time or 5 feet by.
to be fair 50 ft putts aren’t very common when your approach game is half decent.
My experience too. Sold them due to distance control problems
@@Cr1mson_Ghost If you're hitting greens from 200 yards you definitely get some long putts. Well, maybe you don't - lol. I do.
Alot of talking very little putting, ,
Yawn
The latest putter scam tech LAB....... $600 for a putter! I'll pass
Soooo,, not as much SWAG these days Jimmy?
