I don’t play them, probably never will - but golf needs good brands like this that will challenge the big names on price point, looks, feel and quality. Without the likes of Takomo the major brands can do what they want. So credit to them !!!

I bought the Takomo 301 combo set at the start of this season as an 18-20 hcp. Everyone told me they would be too unforgiving to hit at my skill level, but I never felt that way about them. The feedback they give on miss-hits has helped me improve my game, and there's just no substitute for the feeling you get from a blade when you pure it. After playing with them all summer, I've never felt more comfortable over the ball, and my hcp is coming down fast. Highly recommend!

Yeah I know takomo didn’t do the r&d like the other companies, but it’s not as if those companies release brand new tech each year either, nor do they have the same staff that pioneered modern shapes. The big companies mostly take last years model, tweak a little thing (could be as meaningless as the finish and logo placement), and slap a brand new 2024 price tag on it. great review...i got my takomo 101 irons in October of 2022, kind of by accident...i was getting back into golf after almost 20 years away and was fit locally that summer for some PING irons...oversized grips, regular flex graphite shafts, one degree upright...was told they'd arrive in 4 weeks or less...in the intervening 8 weeks it took before i called my local shop to find out why the PINGs were late, I saw a lot of youtube reviews of Takomo...PING didn't contact my shop even though they didn't have the grips (indefinite backorder?) so I cancelled my order, saved $600, got my Takomo 101s built to my specs, with Fujikura Atmos shafts and fell in love with the company...last irons i'll probably ever own...they're amazing!

I have a set of 101's and it has helped me a ton. I am fairly new to golfing, but I used to play baseball so it was hard to transition from a baseball swing to a golf swing. With some practice and patience, I thought it was time to buy a good set of clubs. The Takomo's have greatly improved my ball strike and boosted my confidence in playing. And it was affordable! Thanks for the review Rick! Now I am certain I made a good choice!

Golf brands have always stole ideas from other brands but the main price difference has to comes with the millions of dollars spent on pro sponsorship that certainly trickels down to, and out of the end user's wallets. It would be interesting to see what pros would be using without any sponsorship money or perks from the big brands. Great review, thanks for the honesty.

Two years ago when I finally bought a new set of clubs, I did consider Takomo. I actually considered some of Takomo’s competitors as well. But ultimately, I went with Titleist. I was replacing my Mizuno MP-32’s, well I still have them so I didn’t actually replace them, but you know what I mean. Two years ago Takomo didn’t have as many models as today, maybe I would have gone a different route. But I based my choice without price being the primary factor. Debt be dammed (spelled wrong on purpose), I went T100s and T200 combo. But Takomo makes a solid product.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I am in the market for new irons and they are so darn expensive. But after 18 years of playing my Big Bertha irons it is time for a change. I have looked at Takomo mostly because of the price. I am a short golfer so need a flatter lie angle and you can customize your set with steel or graphite shafts (with several options each), different grips, shaft lengths and lie angles. My only issue is I can't hit them to know if they are right for me. I get the pioneering brands and all, but I am also all for inspiration. Luckily, I have a local golf equipment center that does a massive amount of business so they are good on price. They also hold several sales each year including a massive one in the winter that they house in an athletic fieldhouse with an indoor football field. At that sale they have a ton of last year's models at steep discounts. Their head club fitter will even work with you to narrow down your choices before the sale so you can usually find a set that you tested and like. And he'll even adjust the lie angle for you after the sale. All good so that is probably the way I'll go but if I don't find something there then I have some confidence now that I could go get the Takomo's and be happy. Great work Rick!

Best decision I ever made was to spend $60 for a fitting session. I took that information and went to the Tacomo website and ordered the 301 MB / CB combo. Once I actually got the clubs in hand I went back and had a second fitting session to ensure that my lie angles were all going to work well... Some very slight adjustments later at a very affordable cost of $5 per club... And for under $1,000 I'm completely outfitted for what seems like the foreseeable future. There was no way I could have gotten clubs and shafts with this quality for this price in comparison what I was looking at would have run at least 1800.00 plus tax from the major brands. Anyone who is considering doing the direct-to-consumer route, I would encourage you to ensure that you go for a fitting session first so that you can get an idea of what your needs are to help improve your game.
