- Shrimp Cakes featuring Old Bay Lemon Aioli are a delicious restaurant quality dish that you can easily put together in your own home kitchen! Join Eric from Simply Elegant Home Cooking as he takes you through the process of cooking this amazing seafood recipe! There are a few tips for making shrimp cakes that will ensure a great result. First, you want to mince your shrimp very finely but do not turn them into a paste. The best way is to use a knife and work them over for several minutes. Also, be sure not to overcook the shrimp! Only a few minutes in the pan on each side is plenty to get a nice, crispy exterior.
While there are other options, Eric’s favorite dipping sauce to serve with the shrimp cakes is Old Bay Lemon Aioli. Eric demonstrated this recipe in the last video and you can see that link here:
• Old Bay Aioli With Lem...
Ingredients:
-1 pound large shrimp, preferably wild
-1/2 red bell pepper
-1/3 cup fresh Italian parsley
-1/3 cup green onions
-3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
-2 eggs
-2 tablespoons old bay lemon aioli (plus more for serving)
-3 tablespoons olive oil or vegetable oil for frying
-salt and pepper to taste
-lemon wedges for serving
Directions:
-Peel and devein the shrimp. Mince them as finely as you can using a sharp knife.
-Combine the shrimp, bell pepper, parsley, green onions, panko breadcrumbs, eggs, aioli, salt and pepper into a large bowl. Stir by first using a spoon and then eventually your hands until all of the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
-Form the shrimp cakes into balls. This recipe can make about 12 appetizer sized cakes or 6 larger cakes if you want to serve them on a bun.
-Preheat a large nonstick skillet on medium high heat.
-Once skillet is fully preheated, add in the oil, swirl to coat the pan, and carefully place the shrimp cakes into the pan.
-Sear the first side for about 3 minutes or until golden brown, then flip and sear the other side for about 2-3 minutes until a similar doneness is achieved.
-Serve with the old bay lemon aioli and lemon wedges and enjoy! Хобби

A very interesting twist on my favorite Maryland Crab Cake. I think the shrimp should work great. Can't wait to give this a try!
Shrimp cakes are a good substitute for crab cakes and won't break the bank.
