Baking Soda by itself, used after eating/drinking any carbonated, sugar or high PH, then breathing thru the mouth-most will need to mouth tape, and you got 90% fixed. K2 and vitamin D is the key to rebuilding stuff.
Hi Thomas, to be clear about Irminne's 'cocktail', I'm having this (among other stuff and minus Baking soda + Xylitol) DAILY (!) in my morning 'shake' for at least 3.5 yrs. now - taste like s***, but my body feels great. Great Idea! I have been trying to figure out how to generate NO. I knew that it starts in the mouth. I knew about L-arginine and L-Citruline but I never thought of mouthwash. Duh! This should do it for me. I am 78. Important thing to add. Nothing seemed to work for me. Then I read in a book that making your system more alkaline improves NO production. So I developed and maintained an alkaline diet and my NO test strips went from "Depleted" to "Optimal". For me alkaline diet really works, but this should close the deal. You are a genius. THANK YOU.

@@juliegreen5993 Yes I had one of those machines a few years ago. I was fighting for my life at the time, and it did not help me very much to get well. Thanks for your comment. I do believe there are still a lot of good things to this mouth rinse. That is the reason why I am leaving this video up. There is a lot of evidence that his mouth rinse does improve the oral microbiome - it may not increase nitric oxide in the exhaled breath, but it does increase nitrate in the blood and nitric oxide in the body. I plan to make an update video on this, but for now refer to my most recent video on nitrates/lettuce juice and the Oral microbiome. Thanks.
Kurkuma only works with an activator e.g. fresh milled black pepper to be anti inflammatory. You can make from this mouth rinse formula also a toothpaste by adding coconut oil.

My mouth feels very clean, my teeth are shiny save for a hint of gold color due the turmeric. I feel more alert when I wake up & my breath feels fresh. In the vid she says the clove is also for flavor and that you can replace it with peppermint oil if you prefer that flavor. As a user of pep. oil i would add one drop at a time because the oil can be overpowering with very little.
This sounds really well thought out and I'd love to actually try something like this. I'm familiar with a lot of those ingredients and their benefits. Am I going to buy all those ingredients to make my own? Probably not. But if you ever decide to put out a premixed product, I think I would get it.

Thanks Doctor, for another excellent, well supported presentation. Unfortunately, I used antimicrobial mouth washes for a long, long time, so I have two related questions. 1) Is there an available test to assess for permanent damage to the tongue microbiome? A test that would tell me if any of the populations of tongue bacteria you mention were wiped out by years of using antiseptic rinses? 2) If my tongue microbiome has been damaged, is there a probiotic to rebuild it? Your oral rinse looks like a good support for a functioning microbiome. What would be good for rebuilding one that was severely damaged? I think this would relate not only to people with long term mouthwash use, but also those who have had to chronically use antibiotics, for any reason. Your thoughts on assessing and repairing the damage would be most welcome. Thanks again!
There are oral probiotics on the market, one that comes to mind is by a company called now foods. Just look up oral probiotics. Also, they will rebuild themselves overtime if you eat prebiotic foods

I love your channel and am a subscriber. I need to go back and rewatch, but I missed where the turmeric went in. I like the dual concept here of 1) remineralization of teeth and the production of NO. I find it interesting that you mention L-Arginine and its use to help remineralize teeth. I almost tossed out my L-Arginine after listening Dr. Bryan’s explanation that L-Arginine does not work in the NO pathway (in certain cases?). Thanks for making this video. Listerine is in trash and my canning jars are going to work! Cheers.
Dear Dr Irminne Van Dyken. Thank you for another great presentation. 👏 A quick Q if I may? In a previous video you described how Nitric Oxide lasts for less than a second. If one eats good food for Nitric Oxide production in the body how long does its effect of relaxing blood vessels last, given that Nitric Oxide lives such a short life? Looking forward to your next presentation. Thanks.
Hi - such a great question! You are correct, the half life of nitric oxide is less than one second. The body tends to store nitrite and nitrate, which are easily converted to nitric oxide on an as-needed basis. The nitrate can stay in the blood stream for 5-8 hours, and the nitrite can stay in the body for around 45 minutes. So, as long as you are getting nitrates from food like beet root, that should be in your blood stream for 5-8 hours or so. I hope that answers your question.

Great video! I've been wondering if there were any healthy mouth rinses out there! I have two questions for you... 1) Won't the turmeric and beetroot powders stain your teeth over time? 2) According to Dr Nathan Bryan, we shouldn't use any antibacterial products in our mouth. Therefore, I'm wondering about the use of zinc citrate, clove and you also mentioned peppermint oil ... all of these have antibacterial properties. 🤔 What are your thoughts on this?
Anti bacterial shouldn't necessarily kill off everything as a mouthwash would. If the ph is right it should encourage a more friendly environment for these friendly bacteria while making it inhospitable to the acid loving bacteria. In theory it should do that and any friendly bacteria from your raw food should be able to survive for a while there - needing to be regularly topped up every two or three days.
The link points to zinc oxide rather than zinc citrate. I would think the citrate would be bio-available. I look forward to trying your formula, thanks
Dear dr van Dyken, I live offgrid with my water coming from inside the mountain. Therefore, my water is fluoride and chloride free. I make kefir and the difference between making kefir from city water and the water from the mountain is unbelievable. So, I will try to make your mix with my water and I'll come back here in few months to report back the results. Much appreciated your great video! Be happy and keep up the awesome work!💜
I am curious to know the specifics of the 'difference' in kefir results w/city vs well water (your mountain water?) . . . is it higher in bacteria count? More effervescent? What is the difference? Thanks much.
@@eugeniebreida1583 Hi Eugenie. The difference is huge! When we make kefir/kombucha in the city, the product is much less effervescent, the taste is more souer because the chloride content. Chloride kills bacteria. The water coming from the mountain is pure and kefir/kombucha brew much faster and are more effervescent, tastier... The difference does not stop there. Your hair is better washing with the mountain water as well. Chloride is not healthy a all, not to mention in some countries there is fluoride in the water as well. Hope I was clear enough. If you want more details, feel free to ask. Cheers.
Thank you for your great videos - I wish that I had this information when I was young but my children certainly have it for this generation. I must appreciate your assistance.
Why want nitric oxide mouth rinse? ( read Dr Pall thought too much was causing problems in people w CFS...). Beets are high oxalic acid(bind to minerals), also turmeric(read that is better used w fat/oil). How does our teeth absorb the calcium carbonate (maybe get from organic pastured egg shells?)? Very interesting
Great question! I have not experienced any teeth staining from the turmeric, and have been using it for about 30 days 2-3 times per day. So I do not think it is an issue. Please let me know if you experience otherwise!
My understanding is that a high quality organic turmeric powder will not stain teeth-it can even whiten them a bit. The problem with staining teeth is with cheap turmeric which may have dye in it. It’s the food dye which stains. I read this somewhere, possibly a food blog. You may want to further research this.
No, you can even rub it on your teeth directly and it will come off. Even seems to whiten teeth a little. If you use it at night, do some oil pulling in the morning to get rid of the remains.
I do not see why I should not swallow. While swishing I have nourished the good mouth bacteria, suppressed the problem microbes and absorbed some nutrients through my mouth tissues. However, most of the nutrition is still in the rince that remains in my mouth. Why would I spit it out? I vote that we SWALLOW for good health. Thank you so much for this recipe.
This looks like a great mix of science-backed powders. I look forward to trying it! And it IS tempting to swallow a small bit of the rinse as well since a lot of the ingredients are also beneficial when ingested. Also, the total powder content is 17.33 tbs, which is close to 52 tsp, so this makes about 52 "servings". Nice!
Most of these ingredients are added into my daily smoothie except Tumeric which I eat everyday for dinner added in my soup or as topping on rye bread. Raw calcium is not part of my daily consumption.
Hi there MD it’s always a pleasure listening to your knowledge, I have one question! How to fix vitamin D and potassium deficiency ? Is there anyway to do it properly! Sometimes I have supplemented on them but I feel Ill when I done it, does it have to do with the gut bacterial unbalance!
One ingredient that is absolutely a must is DIM (di-indole methane) it gets rid of S. mutans) I would also add a caveat for the turmeric and beetroot for people with kidney stones.
Hello, thanks for the informative video. I have one question: How to pick a mouthwash that doesn't kill our good oral Microbiome and only kills the bad bacteria keeping our gums healthy?
For people who form kidney stones, I would stay away from beet powder. Beets are THE highest concentration of oxalate known in a food, and oxalate is what forms kidney stones. As long as you are not swallowing it you may be OK though, and the amount you will intake in this manner may not be a problem. But consider your personal risk preference before including beets.
Instead of avoiding the oxalates and healthy foods, add more magnesium to your diet and have apple cider vinegar drinks daily. This will absolutely dissolve stones and keep them away. Besides, as another person mentioned, she is not advocating to drink it just rinse with it.
Citrulline is a bigger precursor of nitric oxide trough a metabolism process on the body that requires the liver and so on... I don't think you will get nitric oxide from citrulline or argenine just because rising your mouth and spit it.
I know you said not to swallow, but why not also - in addition to swishing - ingest some of these ingredients? Especially the l-citrulline and l-arginine. Wouldn't they also increase NO if ingested?
This is pretty interesting. I read a few years ago that our commercial grade mouthwashes really aren't good for us and mess up the biome. . I switched to a zinc based option and I notice zinc is included in your recipe. But being that zinc is antibacterial wouldn't it create some of the same problems that we have with store bought mouthwash?
This is interesting however when I mixed beetroot powder in water and drank it, it stained my bottom teeth horribly and that was over a year ago and I still haven’t gotten them whit again, so I don’t understand this beetroot recommendation.
I would skip at least some of the ingredients like clove (antimicrobial), turmeric and beetpowder (oxalates and cariogenic carbs/sugar) and be careful with the bicarbonate dosing since it's also known to kill bacteria. Still, inspiring video.
Please, I would like to know your thoughts on coconut oil or sesame seed oil pulling . I have been pulling every morning before breakfast for 15 minutes. Can this affect my oral micro biome . I would appreciate your opinion . Thank you so much.
Thank you for this. Would it be helpful to add a spoon of coconut or sesame oil to the water prior to rinsing? I've been doing oil pulling for some time and it's pretty amazing but will up my game with your N.O. mix for sure. My understanding is that the oil will eventually penetrate down to the roots just like motor oil finds tiny crevices in engines to keep them lubricated. Is this something that may enhance your mix? Thanks again :)
As far as I know, activated charcoal absorbs all organic material. My guess is it would then absorb the various bacteria in the mouth. The goal of this mouthwash is to promote a balance of good bacteria, not to reduce the overall amount. Open to other info...
Yep this one, s got it all should work a treat, maybe I would swap the cloves for cinnamon as it supposed to help with a diabetes but that's a personal choice, coconut oil could maybe included as it always a worthy addition and lastly I made my own mouthwash with miswak ,
Thank you we spend too much time trying to figure out what lab experiment works best for our health . Not that anything is dangerous but endless videos draw a amazing amount of knowledgeable people that confuses most .
I'm surprised to hear you say that you could leave the cloves out. I just heard that they can lower 2 types of bad bacteria while promoting 1 good strain of bacteria.
Great video and recipe!! I take most of the ingredients as a supplement. I'll rather make them as a mouth wash now. Of course, the best part of the Nitric Oxide is for males is in the bedroom 😉
I've found this very helpful, but I'd very much like to know: how long do you need to use this to correct your oral microbiome? It would be nice not to have to use twice a day without fail, maybe just to do a few days' use every now and then. Can you advise, please?

I have everything except the beet powder. I also have dicalcium phosphate and potassium carbonate. If one wanted to swallow this mix, I would reduce the zinc to maybe 1 or 2 tsp to avoid too much. Too much could throw off the critical zinc / copper ratio. I take about 150 mg (not mcg) of potassium iodide. This does a lot of things, but staying on topic, it greatly reduces body odor, at least I think so BUt but but, if you are older, there may be serious side effects from sensitive thyroid, as long term deficiencies of iodine may result in this condition. They really should be putting iodine in the drinking water, not toxic fluorine. Just my educated opinion, do your own research, if that is still possible.
Interesting comment. thanks. Where I immediately went was thinking it was a waste to spit out many of the ingredients I'd rather have 2 stages, one to swallow, one to spit. Your comment helped think about this.
I wonder if green tea powder would be a good edition which contains natural fluoride. Perhaps citric acid or something else with Vitamin C unless that is already in the beetroot powder. Lastly, I wonder if something with magnesium would help.

She should make a mouthwash for sale. Or mouthwash kit. I would buy all her products.
Great idea. Sounds like a bit of work though.
If it works, would be worth it for those w mouth/dental/teeth issues...and could work out well for you too. 😃
The link points to zinc oxide rather than zinc citrate. I would think the citrate would be bio-available. I look forward to trying your formula, thanks
Thanks so much for catching this. Somehow Amazon switched it to zinc oxide. I have corrected the link. Thanks again.
Cheers.
Can't wait to try it, but I'm gonna go with the peppermint flavor.
Thanks Doc.
Thanks doctor, really appreciate your work to keep us healthy!
Thank you for your great videos - I wish that I had this information when I was young but my children certainly have it for this generation. I must appreciate your assistance.
Thank you so much, just discovered your channel, have been on my Perio Path journey for a few months and will add this to my routine!
Love this, want to try it soon.
This is perfect for hair loss!
THank you. I've noticed that the tumeric I cook with stains my fingers when I prepare. I assume you've expreienced no staining of teeth?
I’ve noticed that turmeric powder only seems to stain my skin when combined first with an oil so personally wouldn’t expect that to be an issue
I was wondering the same thing.
Ive read that everytime
You rinse you mouth
If you swallow the solution
You swallow bad bacteria with it.
Awesome! Thank you! Never knew such a recipe existed!
Great video. You are appreciated, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Xylitol is good for the mouth but not the microbiome of the gut. Best not to swallow.
You're not ingesting and digesting it. Just swirling around the mouth for a minute and spitting it all out
Interesting mixture. I have difficulty sourcing a couple of items in the Phillippines, Citrulline being one, but will try this.
😅😅😅😂😂😂 & the cute little jar, just looking cute at the End 😅😂😂 , loved this wisdom ,Thank u so much ❤
I find green tea helps keep a good oral hygiene but will definitely try this nitric oxide boosting recipe👌
No reason you couldn't use cold green tea made from filtered water as the source for the liquid in this rinse!
Texas!
I would replace beat with arugula more nitrates
Hello, thanks for the informative video. I have one question: How to pick a mouthwash that doesn't kill our good oral Microbiome and only kills the bad bacteria keeping our gums healthy?
Would it be a good idea to use this as a replacement of toothpaste?
Sounds like a doable adventure. Lets do it no pain no gain.
I have kidney stones. I thought I only supposed to stay away from Spinach and Tofu. Can I still drink beet juice.
Chanka Piedra will dissolve stones.
Dr. Van Dyke is not advocating users drink the powder. She is only presenting it as a rinse.
Are Beet Root Gummies O.K.to Take for Better Blood Circulation??
Instead of avoiding the oxalates and healthy foods, add more magnesium to your diet and have apple cider vinegar drinks daily. This will absolutely dissolve stones and keep them away. Besides, as another person mentioned, she is not advocating to drink it just rinse with it.
This is great Dr V!
wonderful recipe, going to start with grated beet, then dehydrate and turn into powder.
some shopping for ingredients is next.
Sounds great!
Thanks! I just bought the ingredients from Amazon. BTW, who's the mystery lady in the window reflected toward the end of the video?
Good question! That actually my husband Russell (long haired dude 😍)
Total on Amazon 3-2024: About $155.00 + tax with prime free shipping, in case you were wondering. Not including jars and lids.
You are on to something.. 👍
Nah, it's also very popular to mouth rinse 20 minutes with coconut oil, thats also anti bacterial, anti fungal and anti paracitic.
@@orion9kand still you're risking killing your little helpers.
@@mabe2551 my comment is being removed because I talk about health protocols ?? 😂
I tried to reply you but youtube thought police wont let me
that's sad maybe try a different wording?
Thank you, the one thing I think is missing and I would add to this recipe would be iodine.
Thanks for the video . I will try it.
Thank you so much for your honesty!! God bless you 🙏🏽✝️🙏🏽
This is interesting however when I mixed beetroot powder in water and drank it, it stained my bottom teeth horribly and that was over a year ago and I still haven’t gotten them whit again, so I don’t understand this beetroot recommendation.
I hope you don't mind me saying
You look like Gwyneth Paltrow.
Does it stain? Would be concerned about that. Thanks.
Don’t spit if use oil, down the drain then!
Spit into a garbage first then rinse ur mouth n spit into garbage again
EXCELLENT video. God bless.
Since we're throwing our thoughts into this pot; how about 'Activated Charcoal powder' as a possible addition?
As far as I know, activated charcoal absorbs all organic material. My guess is it would then absorb the various bacteria in the mouth. The goal of this mouthwash is to promote a balance of good bacteria, not to reduce the overall amount. Open to other info...
I'm copying this, wow thank you!
I'm going to use it I don't need the FDA
Well, that was great and good. Thank you
Great video, thank you!
I love you for making this!!!!
Yep this one, s got it all should work a treat, maybe I would swap the cloves for cinnamon as it supposed to help with a diabetes but that's a personal choice, coconut oil could maybe included as it always a worthy addition and lastly I made my own mouthwash with miswak ,
I especially like this because I don’t eat plants due to toxins. This is a minimum exposure.
thank you very much for your videos
Thanks Doc.
What a nice recipe. Is it ok if we can't find one or two ingredients and proceed with the rinsing anyway?
Of course that would be OK. Although each ingredient has its own specific function, the mouth rinse would be fine leaving one or two ingredients out.
What about adding coconut oil? Thanks for the great video
Sourcing tips/links for some of the less standard items would be helpful.
Another A+ video. Thanks.
I recently switched to fluoride free Toms toothpaste. Is that advisable?
Thank you we spend too much time trying to figure out what lab experiment works best for our health .
Not that anything is dangerous but endless videos draw a amazing amount of knowledgeable people that confuses most .
I will try and get all the ingredients....
Dear Dr I suggest another natural ingredient (Berg Hina) we call Mehemdi in Pakistan
I researched on it I used it severe Skin burn My daughter burned in 80 centi grede heated oil 17year ago.I use1no 100gram Berg e Hina 2no 50grams( Kalwanji) both ground it then mix in Olivia oil makes paste and use it on.any burned skin. 100
Treatment
Thanks for sharing - this is interesting. I will check it out. 👍
Potassium iodide in the rinse? And does dicalcium phosphate improve remineralization?
Interesting comment. thanks. Where I immediately went was thinking it was a waste to spit out many of the ingredients I'd rather have 2 stages, one to swallow, one to spit. Your comment helped think about this.
I wonder if green tea powder would be a good edition which contains natural fluoride. Perhaps citric acid or something else with Vitamin C unless that is already in the beetroot powder. Lastly, I wonder if something with magnesium would help.
Awesome stuff. It works really well
We know how each if these ingredients perform alone but how do they affect each other whem mixed together?
Great question! Hopefully a chemist can help us out with this..?
Allergic to beet root 😬…. But I’ll try it
Very well presented. Thx.
